PROM CAPS OFF AN

UNFORGETTABLE YEAR

By Olivia Naum

June 10, 2022 will forever remain an immensely exceptional day in

the minds of the class of 2022. Senior prom is easily one of the most anticipated

moments in a person’s high school career and this year’s event truly

eclipsed the expectations of all.

Many students initiated their prom festivities by attending pre-proms

to capture pictures and mingle with friends, which ignited the joy and excitement

of the class. The seniors then gathered at the stunning venue, Warehouse

100 at iPlay America, where the diligence of the student government

and all those involved with planning prom was evident.

“Gianna Vaccaro [SGA president] and Emily Karl [Senior Class President]

worked really hard to make the night as special as possible,” said Senior

Class Co-Advisor Mrs. Rattien. “And I think it really paid off.”

Walking on the red carpet outside of the event center allowed for a

perfect place to take a picture before heading inside. Once in the building,

students were warmly greeted by teachers and administrators such as Mr.

Leahy and Mr. Brusotti. From the moment they stepped inside, students were

in awe with the beauty of the location.

The doorway was adorned with a sage green balloon archway with

floral accents that hinted at the overall fairytale theme of prom. Each table

was decorated with a bouquet of pastel balloons and there were photo backdrops

that included soft-hued balloons, oversized frames, as well as a greenery

filled backdrop with a light-up sign. These beautiful additions offered the

seniors a perfect opportunity to take pictures to preserve these amazing moments.

As the night went on, everyone found so many ways to celebrate

their prom. Many enjoyed spending their time on the dance floor with great

music inciting everyone to leave their tables.

“It was fun dancing with all my classmates and seeing them dressed

up,” said senior Margaret St. Germaine. “Everybody looked beautiful. And I

mean that.”

Photo booths equipped with props as well as professional photographers

allowed for students to take unlimited pictures and encapsulate the joy

of the event. It was widely acknowledged that the dinner was fantastic and

most people also enjoyed the ice cream served as dessert.

The seniors truly made the most of one of the final nights they would

spend as high schoolers. Everyone was filled with an effervescent spirit as all

were excited by the thought of what lies ahead as well as infused with the

bliss of being able to create lasting memories with friends. It was unavoidable

to consider that this would be one of their last opportunities to share these

moments with high school classmates, so everyone seemed to relish in this

culminating moment.

The anticipation that was beginning to build in the room started to

become clear as the time to announce the prom king and queen approached.

Everyone was excited to see who would win this extraordinary honor and

students were attempting to guess who would be the winners for the class of

2022.

All held their breath in anticipation as there was an impressive list of

candidates, but soon the prom king and queen was announced as Gianna Vacarro

and Michael Mancusi. The crowd was tremendously thrilled and resounding

cheers were heard throughout the venue.

“It was a great way to celebrate all we’ve been through together,”

said Jessica Reed, “and we had such a fun night that I don’t think any of us

will forget it.”

Without a doubt, the night of senior prom was a truly special way for

every senior to celebrate their high school careers. It was especially memorable

for the class of 2022 since they have had so many events canceled and

limited due to the pandemic and remote learning. Seniors were able to come

together and create incredible memories which were so deeply missed these

past two years. Senior prom marked an immensely important milestone in

the lives of every senior and will be a treasured memory for all.

Trip to Black Bear Lake a Fun Day for All

By Jessica Reed

The senior trip to Black Bear Lake was a great last

field trip for the members of the Class of 2022!

“It was a gorgeous day to chill with friends and reconnect

with nature, stated John Hayward.

Seniors participated throughout the day in various

activities like paddle boating, swimming, running an obstacle

course, and playing gaga ball. The barbecue food made this

trip feel like a classic, nostalgic summer camp. The basketball

courts were a very popular location, with unofficial games

breaking out between friend groups.

“The trip was full of laughs!” agreed Rebecca Sharp.

The perfect weather also helped make the trip to

Black Bear Lake a fantastic sendoff for the seniors, who will

surely remember it for years to come!

Senior BBQ Provides Lunchtime Break

By Olivia Naum

On Wednesday June 8, 2022, the seniors were able to

celebrate and enjoy some of their culminating moments of

high school during the Senior Barbecue.

The class of 2022 gathered outside on the track during

their lunch period to celebrate reaching the end of their

high school careers. Students were provided with delicious

hamburgers and hotdogs made by their teachers with the

help of the seniors involved in student government. The atmosphere

was lively with the exhilaration of finally reaching

the end and having the ability to create these final memories

with their friends.

Along with great food, snacks were provided, as well

as ice cream trucks, where many seniors savored shaved ice

to cool off from the heat of the sun.

In order to make the day truly special there was music

and outside games such as Gaga ball and Spikeball. Every

senior was able to find a way to enjoy themselves and revel in

the fact that there are only a few days left as high school seniors.

The Senior Barbecue provided a fantastic opportunity

for the class of 2022 to come together with their peers and

commemorate all that they have accomplished these past

four years.

A LETTER FROM EMMA SPOONAUER, EDITOR-IN CHIEF

To the Class of 2022,

I can barely comprehend that we’re about to graduate! They said that

high school would be one of the fastest four years of our lives but at the time

we didn’t believe them. Coming in as a freshman, the whole concept of high

school was definitely daunting, but now, after getting to know so many of you,

countless staff members, and once meaningless hallways, I can now call Freehold

Township High School a second home.

After being part of various clubs and participating in numerous school

events, I can say that these experiences shaped me into the more confident

and strong minded person I am today, and I’m sure many of you can relate to

this. Throughout these four years I’ve seen all of you mature and grow into the

truest version of yourselves. If I had to say one thing about the Class of 2022, it

would be that we are not afraid to make our own choices. We are not afraid to

question authority figures in order to see the change that we want. We are not

afraid to take that step in the right direction.

Although COVID put a damper on our high school experience for a significant

period of time, I am forever grateful to finish out high school in person

where I am able to connect with my peers and attend school events that have

ignited an unforgettable sense of spirit and belonging. We were strong enough

to persevere through such an unprecedented and trying time, but now it is

time to celebrate how far we’ve come!

Reflecting on these four years, I would

like to thank all of my teachers who have

pushed me to work and learn to my fullest potential.

I would like to thank all my friends and

peers who have been there for me to lean on

when I needed it most. I would like to thank all

of the club advisors and executive board members

I have worked with that have taught me

countless leadership, organization, and cooperation

skills. Most specifically I would like to

thank Mr. DiGiuseppe and all of the editors of the Patriot Press. Working with

you all has been so rewarding and I will never forget our fun Tuesday lunch

meetings.

I am wishing everyone in the Class of 2022 the best of luck with their

post graduation plans. I know with the incomparable passion and drive we

possess we will accomplish great things. More importantly, let’s live in this current

moment and celebrate for how far we’ve come!

Sincerely,

Emma Spoonauer

A LETTER FROM MR. SEAN LEAHY, 2021-22 FTHS TEACHER OF THE YEAR

The end of the school year is always bittersweet for me personally.

Please do not get me wrong, I love having two months off to enjoy my summer

vacation, but I also have to say goodbye to an amazing group of Seniors. I

have truly enjoyed my life as a teacher for the last 14 years and I can easily say

that it is the relationship that I build with my students that truly makes this the

most rewarding profession.

The past two years have been extremely challenging for all of us. This

class has shown perseverance in the face of unprecedented adversity and I

know this experience has taught us all very valuable life lessons. I am so

thankful that this class was able to have a “normal” end of the school year and

some of the amazing events that make Township so amazing. As the year

comes to a close I want you all to remember a few important lessons that I

have picked up here at Freehold Township High School.

Lesson 1: Never underestimate the power of a kind gesture.

I know I am not the first person to write this statement or something

along the lines of this statement, but I have seen it play out during my career

many times. 15 years ago, I was a 22 year old student teacher right here at

FTHS. I am not going to lie, Student Teaching is terrible! You are working a

fulltime job, all the requirements, all the responsibilities, all for…you guessed

it, the experience. I once tried to fill up my gas tank with experience, but it did

not go so well. In addition to not getting paid, you are only a few years older

than the students, which usually poses a problem, but I had gray hair back

then too, so I had them fooled. Friday nights when teachers are off to enjoy

their weekends I was heading off to my real job at Blockbuster Video to rent

movies to the students I just finished teaching! And worst of all you have NO

idea what you are doing. Despite all of that I survived my student teaching

year and it was one kind gesture from a student that made every second of the

experience worth it. My student Lisa Martino invited me to be her sponsor at

her NHS ceremony 15 years ago. Her act of kindness solidified my decision to

become a teacher and gave me the confidence that I could make a difference

in other students' lives. Lisa may never know this but her simple act of kindness

pushed me to work hard, connect with my students, and be my very best

every day I step foot into Township. Be nice to people-- you never know the

impact of a simple act of kindness!

Lesson 2: Surround yourself with Good People.

Over my years at Township I have made some of my best friends right

here in these hallways. Early in my career I was asked to coach Lacrosse by

Coach Steve Gibb, one of our amazing security staff and one of my most valued

mentors. I politely said to Coach Gibb, “I know nothing about Lacrosse.” And

in my head I questioned, why would you want me on the staff? He said something

to me that has always stuck with me. He said, “I like to surround my

players with good people, role models. I can teach you to coach lacrosse but I

cannot teach you how to be a good person.” Some of my favorite memories in

this school have nothing to do with classroom teaching, but everything to do

with the relationships made along the way. Whether it is popping into Mr.

Torres’s class to do some improv during my off period, getting some much

needed organization advice from Ms. Galinski, or stealing all the tennis balls off

of a friend's desks because you know he hates the sound when desks get

moved in the classroom. It is these relationships that helped keep me grounded,

helped me to laugh, helped me be a better person, and most importantly

filled my life with people that I admire and learn from daily. No one can do it

alone-- surround yourself with good people and you will never go wrong.

Lesson 3: Take advantage of EVERY opportunity.

One thing this Pandemic has taught me is that nothing is guaranteed.

On Friday March 13th, 2020, we were notified that school was closing

for two weeks to stop the spread of Covid-19. We never did return that school

year, I lost an entire lacrosse season, 4 months with my students, Proms, Senior

Week, and Graduation. My heart broke for my students who lost so much

that year. During that time in quarantine I learned that all I wanted was NOR-

MAL back. I wanted to be on the field with my players, back in the front of a

full classroom, and dancing the night away at Senior Prom. Things I once took

for granted and sometimes saw as a burden were the only things I wanted

back. Homecoming Night 2021 was one of the highlights of this year so

far. Watching a packed students section cheer on our football team and

crowning our King and Queen, Giacomo Calamita and Gianna Dembski,

brought a tear to my eye. After two long years of virtual learning we were

BACK! Moving forward I encourage all of you to not put things off; don’t skip

that Football game, hang out with your friend as often as possible, join that

fraternity or sorority, and go claim your dream job!! Stop putting things off

and make them happen now. Believe me, you do not want to look back on

your time and say “I should have.” It makes a much better story when you are

present.

My 14 years at Freehold Township have been extremely rewarding and

the lessons I have learned in these hallways have helped me to earn the title of

Teacher of the Year, but more importantly they have helped me to be a loving

father, dedicated husband, and a good person. Notice that my three lessons

have nothing to do with actual teaching, and these three lessons relate to any

profession or career choice you may make in the future. I encourage you all to

be kind, surround yourself with good people, and take advantage of every single

day. I am so unbelievably proud of every student in the Class of 2022. You

have all worked hard academically and dedicated your time to serving others.

I know you will make us proud in the future! Congratulations, Class of

2022!

A LETTER FROM MRS. JOANN PRICE, WHO IS RETIRING AFTER 19 YEARS AT FTHS

Hello, Graduate!

As you and I approach our final moments at FTHS, I ask: Do you remember

your very first day at Township? Maybe you were a brand new 14-

year-old freshman, a little scared, but hopeful. Or, maybe you were a mid-year

transfer student whose family moved to Freehold, and you had to make

friends all over again. Can you remember what that felt like?

True confession: My first day at Township back in September of 2003

was unforgettable, and not for good reasons! At age 45, I was a brand new

teacher, my first day on the job. Like many of you, I had absolutely no clue

about this school, its layout, or its people–and I was assigned to teach 3 different

levels of English in 5 different classrooms that were in 4 different halls: C,D,

E, and G. On day 1, I felt seriously overwhelmed, lost, and confused in every

way imaginable! No joke, I went home that first night and cried, truly wondering

if this whole teaching thing would work out, or if it was all a colossal mistake.

And then I remembered the best piece of advice I was ever given; it

came from a wise English professor at college. She gave this advice to all her

students, and I now share it with you: Act “as if.”

What does that mean, act “as if”? Well, for me it meant that I had to

calm down, screw up my courage, and act as if I could pull off being a teacher.

Acting “as if” is not magical thinking; it’s more of a temporary positive pretending,

just for the time being….like, even if you’re not sure you can do this, for

right now you will act as if you can and follow through with some hope that

success will happen. I hung in there and things improved; the days that followed

my first day here were better. I managed and I learned on the fly. Here I

am almost 20 years later, so I guess it worked!

I offer this same advice to you as you embark on the mystery that is

the rest of your life.

When asked to face a challenge going forward, no matter how scared

or unsure you are, take the risk and act as if, then do your best to make it so.

Feel confident and act as if things will work out.

Act as if what you do–and don’t do–matters; you have a purpose,

whether or not you recognize it at the moment. Look for it, then act as if what

you do is meaningful, because it is.

Act as if people–all people–are important. Don’t take them for granted

lest you lose them, and don’t replace real people with phone relationships.

Every now and then, act as if your phone doesn’t exist.

Act as if you care, even if sometimes you’re thinking maybe you don’t.

Caring about causes and human beings beyond yourself will change the world.

Act as if you can make a difference.

As I walk with you onto the football field this June evening, we can act

as if we are capable of facing the upcoming changes and challenges that will

happen in our lives, because, in reality, we can! Acting “as if” speaks to hope

and belief in yourself and others, no matter what lies ahead.

Right here, right now, act as if you can do this graduation thing, leave

Freehold Township High School, and move into an imperfect but bright future,

whatever it holds.

Act as if…You’ve got this!

A LETTER FROM JESS REED, ENTERTAINMENT EDITOR

It doesn’t feel like just yesterday that we walked through the Township

doors as freshmen.

It feels like four years ago.

A very intense, productive, upsetting, amazing, exhilarating, confusing,

fantastically weird four years ago, and I’m honored to have spent it with all of

you.

I used to think that coming-of-age stories were largely fictional, plot

devices used to glamorize pain and awkwardness (that’s still half true; none of

this was glamorous). But when I look at my friends, my classmates, myself, I

realize that our pining for a coming-of-age story was our coming-of-age story.

Driving around town aimlessly just to have extra time with our friends after a

hangout, biking through neighborhoods when we didn't have our licenses,

joining clubs, dropping clubs, being convinced that we are completely alone

and 500 other people saying they feel the exact same way. We weren't given a

typical high school experience, so we made one.

We are adults now, not because we are perfect, but because we finally

realized that adults are imperfect too.

...Which might be my favorite thing about the Class of 2022. Our constant

questioning of authorities and refusal to hold blind faith may drive our

teachers crazy sometimes, but it’s a

good trait in a generation that will one

day (not too far away) hold political

office, vote, and raise children of our

own. We can speak to adults as adults,

which is more liberating than I ever

knew it could be.

I have no doubt that this graduating

class will be as revolutionary outside

the classroom as it was inside. I'm

just so excited to see what we come up

with. In the meantime, let's make the

most of our teenagehood. I can't prove

it just yet, but one day we're going to

miss all these growing pains.

Stay classy, Patriot Nation.

—Jess Reed

A LETTER FROM OLIVIA NAUM, SENIOR EDITOR

I am so honored to have been an editor on

the Patriot Press staff for these past two years. I

truly cannot be more grateful for all the opportunities

that this club has brought me as well as the

irreplaceable relationships that I have created here.

Writing for the Patriot Press these past four years

has been such a cornerstone of my high school experience

and I am so proud of the work we have

completed together. Through this club I have had

the ability to grow not only as a writer who can

convey her thoughts clearly, but as a leader and

valued collaborator. I will miss the Patriot Press tremendously as well as all the

people who make the newspaper truly wonderful.

As I look back on these past four years, I can without hesitation say

that I am immensely proud to be a part of the class of 2022. Through the Global

Studies program, JSA, the tennis team, and the newspaper I can evidently

see how I along with my classmates have progressed towards the people we

are meant to become. Our experience of our time in high school is certainly far

from what we anticipated it to be and was filled with many challenges. Despite

this, we preserved and flourished as a whole. The class of 2022 is filled with

students who are hard-working, dedicated, and passionate, which are qualities

I deeply value in my peers. I strongly believe that we took inspiration from the

classes before us as well as from the incredible teachers who have guided us

these past years. I hope that our class motivates the upcoming grades to pursue

their passions fervently, genuinely enjoy their time in high school, and devote

themselves completely to everything they are a part of.

Seniors Claim BotC Title

Story By Emma Spoonauer, Photos by Vanessa Pacheco and Paige Klings

War, providing their class with a sigh of relief with

their decisive victory.

After a rough showing in the balloon popping

competition, won by the Juniors, everyone was

For weeks prior to the actual night of BotC, we had anticipated its conclusion,

being hyped up with both the Patriot Hunt and Costume Competition.

The Freshmen won the Patriot Hunt, which in retrospect seemed to foreshadow

the anxiety of Seniors to come.

Seniors won some extra points with their Lego themed costumes, giving

the class more confidence going into the night.

Onto what we’ve all been waiting for…the night of challenges for BotC!

With the first step into the auditorium, everyone could already feel the crowd

buzzing with excitement. Initially, there was worried that BotC would not have

a great turnout, much like a lot of other school sponsored events and activities

after COVID, but that was proved completely wrong! All of the bleachers were

packed with students ready to cheer on their friends— so much so that there

were even students sitting on the walkways of the bleachers.

The first event of the night was the scooter race. In this competition,

players had to move themselves from one side of the gym to the other while

sitting or laying on floor scooters, moving in a different way each round. The

Juniors won this challenge, but unfortunately for them it was the only game

they won that night.

ready for the culminating event: the team dances.

With the Freshmen performing first and the

order working its way up through the classes, the

crowd could see each class increasingly outdoing the

previous, so when it was time for the Seniors to perform

the stakes were definitely high. At the conclusion

of the Senior’s dance when they walked through

the graduation banner holding all of their sports

gear, trophies, and other symbols of their accomplishments,

there was a clear sense that victory was

secure.

At the conclusion of the night, it was announced that

despite their great effort and spirit, the Freshmen

came in last while the Juniors and Sophomores actually

tied. After this the Seniors knew they had won,

but the instant those words left the mouth of the

announcer to make it official, the gymnasium erupted in cheers. Seniors ran

down elated from the bleachers to congratulate their peers.

“The event was amazing!” stated senior Michelle Rodriguez. “It was so

good to see everyone have a good time after two years of being virtual!”

Kelsey Lally agreed. “It was so much fun! I love how everyone got super

competitive, especially after the past year. Being a senior during BotC was

a whole new experience as well.”

Despite the actual win, you could tell it was a great night by how loud

everyone chanted, the crowding of the bleachers, and each team giving it their

absolute best. Many spectators went home realizing voices had been lost from

cheering so much, but that was a small price to pay for such a great night.

Next was the egg toss. Team members worked with a partner to throw

an egg to one another, increasing the distance between them with each throw.

The Senior class’s incredibly talented softball players, Lila and Dana Williams,

helped the Seniors dominate this event.

The following event, “Dance Moves,” had students dancing around in a

circle until the music stopped, where they were expected to then find their

partner and strike a specific pose with them. The last pair to strike the pose

correctly would be eliminated, and the game went on until there were only

people from one class left. Though the Sophomores put up a really good fight,

the Seniors won their second event in a row.

But that’s where the Senior confidence wavered.

In Junkyard Relay the Seniors struggled with passing items off to teammates,

and to add insult to injury, the Freshmen were the ones who took the

win.

Next was the Trivia challenge, where each team was given questions

that they would show to their class to try to find the answer in the quickest

amount of time possible. With the help of some of the smartest students of

each grade sitting in the front row, this event was a test of each team’s cooperation,

and once again, the Freshmen reigned.

Then much to everyone’s surprise, in the first matchup in the Girl’s Tug

of War, the Freshmen took home their third victory in a row and defeated the

Seniors! This really soured the mood of the Senior class.

Luckily, the Seniors got back on track with the Boy’s Tug of

The greatest irony of my life as an English teacher is that I

hate writing things that other people will read. (I do, however, love

irony, so I guess that’s something.) I enjoy writing; I always have. But I

write for myself. When I need to write for any other purpose than self

-expression, I find myself staring at a blank document, praying for inspiration

to intervene. There is just too much pressure to be insightful

and eloquent and coherent. (Feel free to take out a red pen and write

“Convoluted” and “Get to the point!” in the margins right now.) However,

I have been asked to write a farewell letter to the class of 2022,

and I promised to try my best.

I start with a wish. For much of your high school career, you

have lived through unprecedented times. I truly hope that your future

contains precedented, boring, been-there-done-that times. I would

like you to go to college or get a job and just have fun for a while. I

want you to not have to worry about phrases like water droplets or

variants or monkeypox (!), although I imagine we will be hearing these

terms for a while longer. These days, it is easy to feel overwhelmed

and anxious; it’s a normal reaction to the world we live in. But you

need to live your lives with joy and perhaps even optimism.

That being said, having fun doesn’t preclude you from knowing

what is happening in the world around you. Pay attention to your

communities; read newspapers; vote. We live in an age of information

– and often disinformation – overload. Not only do you need

to pay attention, but you need to be informed consumers of media.

Ask yourselves – who wrote this? What are their qualifications? Or as I

used to ask my journalism class, what’s the angle? Reading critically

leads to thinking critically. Thinking critically leads to an informed citizenry.

Smart is hard. It takes effort. The only true way to be informed

is to read a variety of sources, listen to experts, and make your own

decisions based on evidence.

Moving on, I wish I had some advice for your future success,

but we all define success differently. If you can do what you love, do

it. But also remember, work is just work. Don’t let it define you. Rather,

your actions should define you. Think about the impact your

choices will make in the world. I am a musical theatre fanatic, and Stephen

Sondheim is one of my idols. In Into the Woods, Little Red Riding

Hood sings, “Nice is different than good.” I have been thinking about

that show and that line in particular a lot recently. It’s easy to be nice.

We were all taught basic manners at one point or another; we know

how to say “please” and “thank you.” But are we putting good out

into the world? My mother once told me that it was easy to treat people

with dignity, and she was right. It takes less energy to be kind, to

treat people as they matter. I suspect it’s better for your overall wellbeing

too. So, while I may not understand the secrets to financial success

(seriously, I went to a liberal arts college and majored in English

with a women’s studies minor), I do know that recognizing the humanity

in others is crucial in becoming a good person.

Lastly, I wish you luck in all your future endeavors. Congratulations

on closing this chapter and opening a new one. I have always

loved teaching seniors because you are all on the precipice of something

new and exciting. As your teacher, I get a glimpse of the adults

you will one day be. That always struck me as an honor – one that I

have never taken for granted. However your path may wander, I

promise you will get there in good time. I myself am on the precipice

of something new, so this goodbye seems especially poignant this

year. Thus, I leave you with another musical theatre quote (to remain

true to my brand): “Because I knew you, I have been changed for

good.”

Kimmy Rich, out.

Messages to Our Former Selves

Brian Trujillo: Work hard and the results will show. I wish I was more dedicated

to my education when I was younger.

Adam Weeks: Ask questions in class, talk to more people, and read directions.

Julia Martinez: Don't take everything so seriously and take any help you can

get

Aaron Tolete: I would advise my freshman year self to not get attached to

anything or anyone and to really focus on my goals and ambitions and make

moves early to get a head start on everything.

Jessica Reed: Everything changes, for better and for worse. Wait out the

bad parts, and appreciate the good parts.

Penny Harkowsky: to not try as hard, and that it really doesn't matter what

anyone thinks of you.

Catherine St. Germaine: Be yourself and try new things! Don't let other people's

thoughts or judgements get in the way of you enjoying your high

school life.

Naeem Reuben: life works itself out and there isn't anything to worry about

Kimora Carter: It’s really not that deep

Patrick Philbin: Don’t be stupid.

Bella Marinich: Try to challenge yourself in classes from the very start, and a

bad grade isn't the end or worse thing to happen to you...just try your best

and you'll do great

Zoe Wall: stay out of friend groups, keep to yourself, don’t allow people to

bring you down to their level

Eirida Martuseviciute: Don't take the cafeteria pizza crunchers for granted

Julianna Arciero: Talk to everyone and say yes to everything .

Gianna Pasqualicchio: get more involved in school & that time flys very

quickly

Julia Saponaro: Don't worry about other people

Shaye Lefler-Blum: Don't worry about keeping the friends you walk into

high school with, in the end you have the people that you need and be rid

of the ones that will drag you down.

Morgan Link: To realize how young I am and the small things won't end up

mattering.

Kayla Cenname: make new friends and branch out

Anife Klobocishta: That high school really does go by so fast so don’t sweat

the small stuff, laugh and don’t feel like you have to rely on anyone to have

a great high school experience.

Dayna Garrison: I would tell my freshman self to always work hard because

it always pays off.

Jeffrey Tolmachewich: Have a good balance of academics, athletics, and personal

life.

Olivia Naum: I would say try your best to enjoy every moment, even when

you're stressed out.

Anton Bilozor: Study Spanish — it will be useful in college since you could go

to Spain abroad.

Youssef Zabady: Work hard now, have fun later.

Victoria Marino: Live every high school memory to the fullest because it is

the fastest four years of your life!

Melvin Pineda: Not join too many clubs, I think you always hear the opposite,

and that you have to do the most. But just stick to what you're passionate

about, don't go crazy trying to get college application filler

Samantha Rivera: Don’t be afraid to join clubs and get involved! You’ll meet

so many new people and friends!

Kevin Kurczeski: It won't be as bad as you think it is. It will actually be pretty

fun. And a good half of it will be unlike any high school experience anyone

has ever had due to COVID-19

Emma Spoonauer: Just chill out. What you’re stressing about now isn’t that

serious.

Milian Ingco: If you studied you'd be way better off than you are right now.

Cesar Rosario: should've made friends with a lot more people, that way you

maybe would've met that one girl sooner.

Heidi Castellanos-Meza: Don't give in to others just because you're afraid of

being alone.

Gregory Moore: Get involved in clubs

Dylan Wong: Get involved in extracurriculars because it matters a lot for

college applications.

Alanna Sisto: Don't take the time for granted

Samantha Montalbine: High school is going to be tough. You're gonna make

a lot of sacrifices, loose a lot of friends, and you're going to constantly be

stressed. But please always remember to put yourself first, even if you may

not get the best grade or one random person may not like you, because

that's not going to matter in a few years. But how you treat yourself now is

what's gonna matter most, so prioritize you, not others or your work, otherwise

you'll regret it.

Tara O'Donnell: Don't take anything for granted.

Jordan Demarest: Do your work and get involved. Don't be afraid to try out

for anything. Be active and friendly.

Isabella Vitali: Don't stress out! Everything works out eventually.

Alyssa Manco: try and make more friends, it will make school more enjoyable

Hailee Soden: don't rush the process, enjoy the small moments!

Lindsey Eskes: I wish I would have let go of all the negativity and realized

that having so many friends isn´t as important as people make it seem.

Stephanie Dikker: Don't think that you don't have to try freshman year, everything

counts

Jessica Samborsky: Some advice that I would give to the freshman version

of myself about high school is that time goes by fast. When I first started

high school, I thought that the process would be long and boring. However,

I've made so many memories here and made such amazing friendships that I

hope will last throughout college. Time really does fly by fast.

Gianna Pallotto: If it won't matter in 5 years, it's not worth stressing over.

Stay on top of your work and do not be lazy, learn to separate school and

social life in a healthy way.

Jordan Bain: Don't make dumb choices and always try to better yourself,

mentally and physically.
