PSALM 121:2
DID YOU KNOW?
On May 5, 1816, the American Bible Society (ABS) was
organized in New York to distribute the Bible throughout
the world. The organization has distributed hundreds of
millions of Bibles in thousands of languages worldwide.
LET’S TALK
Do you prefer to read the Old Testament or the New
Testament? Why? Who is your favorite Bible character
and why? What Bible character is most like you and why?

DID YOU KNOW?
On June 24, 64 AD, in order to gain people’s
approval and give them someone to hate (instead of
him) Roman Emperor Nero outlawed Christianity
and started persecuting followers of Christ.
LET’S TALK
Do you know of any people who have endured
suffering because of their faith? Have there been
moments that tested your faith? What were those
challenges and how did they impact your faith?
God often meets us at the end of our comfort zone. As a family, set a goal of putting
yourselves into an awkward situation this month so you can get comfortable
being uncomfortable (and hopefully encounter God in that uneasy place).
ECC. 4:9
DID YOU KNOW?
On July 24, 1725, John Newton, author of “Amazing
Grace” was born in London. A slave trader and all-around
rough and crude sailor he converted to Christianity, and
later became an Anglican minister. Each week he wrote a
hymn to be sung to a familiar tune.
LET’S TALK
What difference has Christ made in your life? Can you write
your own new verse to “Amazing Grace”? What personal
experiences would you reference in your verse?

Gratitude and generosity go hand in hand. As a family, take time to count your blessings and then
decide how you can translate God’s generosity towards you into loving other people. Make a list of
the ways you can freely give your time, talents, and treasures. Make a plan for your next steps.
DID YOU KNOW?
On August 3, 1492, Christopher Columbus set sail from
Spain for the “Indies.” Though the explorer was in part
driven by a quest for gold and glory, he also saw himself as
a missionary. He was hoping to find a shortcut to the East
by sea, so Christian missionaries could be sent there faster.
LET’S TALK
If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? What
three words do you think describe your personality best? If you
could trade places with one person for a day, who would you pick?

DID YOU KNOW?
On September 14, 1741, George Frideric Handel completed
his best-known work, “Messiah” — a three-part extended
reflection on the life of Jesus Christ. Handel worked zealously
on the Messiah non-stop for 24 days barely stopping even to
eat or sleep. After finishing the Hallelujah Chorus, he said, “I
did think I did see all Heaven before me, and the great God
Himself seated on His throne, with His company of Angels.”
LET’S TALK
Who’s your favorite musician? What do you think you’re really
good at? What’s something you wish you were better at?
Take your family on a prayer walk around your neighborhood or apartment
building. Walk slowly and pay attention to everything you hear and see. Give
thanks for anything beautiful. Pray for restoration of anything broken.
DID YOU KNOW?
The first Christmas cards were created in England
on December 9, 1843. Only one thousand cards
were printed and offered for sale at a shilling a
piece, which was the equivalent of a day’s wages
for a laborer. Of course, very few people were able
to afford them. Of the original 1,000 cards only
twelve exist today, and they are each worth
between 10,000 to 25,000 dollars.
LET’S TALK
It wouldn’t be Christmas without…
What does Christmas mean to you? What was the
best thing that happened to you this year?
Cut out stars from cardstock paper and write “Jesus is …” on each one. As a family,
decide what words describe Jesus (“Savior,” “Friend,” “Prince of Peace,” etc.) Use these
stars to decorate your home and to remind yourselves who Christmas is all about.
