GRAG QUEEN
Interview >>>
Thotyssey: Hello, Grag.
Thanks so much for
talking to us today. Belated
congratulations on being
the first ever winner of the
singing drag competition
Queen of the Universe. Your
$250K win is the largest
prize won by anyone in a
drag competition! Have you
adjusted yet to all your newfound
fame and success?
Well, thanks! And no, I don’t
think I’ve adjusted to all
the things already…but no
complaints, lol! It might get a
little long, but never gets bad.
I love the song and video for
your hit song from March,
“Party Everyday,” which is
like 75% Portuguese and
25% English. What comes
more naturally for you in
creating songs, the music
or the lyrics?
I’m a melodic person. I love

making it up with
some beats.
How did you
enjoy your Queen
of the Universe
experience? As a
viewer, the show
was entertaining
but seemed to
move so quickly.
It did move quickly…and
thank God, I was on it ’til the
end, lol. Me and my country
just lived all the fantasy of
World Cup of the Wigs, lol!
That was an amazing time.
There was such a diverse
group of competing
queens, in nationalities and
languages and in drag and
musical styles. Were you
able to bond with any of
your fellow contestants?
Yeah, I’m very close with
Rani from India. We get along
so good ’cause we don’t
understand at least 50% of
the speech most of the time.
So we just agree, and love
each other.
Were you shocked when so
many queens went home at
once in the second episode,
including New York’s own
Novaczar and the legendary
Jujubee?
My heart just broke. I couldn’t
even celebrate my passing
through. Just each of us
know how hard we worked to
prepare our asses off for the
show.
How did it feel to win?
I felt like everything I did and
went through was just worth it.
So amazing, getting to tell this
info to my family.
You are coming to New York
on June 24th (Pride Friday)!
You’ll be performing for JC
Events’ “Frisky: Wonderful
World”, which will be at
Brooklyn’s the Meadows!
Many great international
DJs will be spinning there
as well.
I’m totally excited. Oh gosh, I
have such a fun performance
planned and I am thankful for
what this city already did for
my journey. I want to live and
soak up every single second.
Finally: RuPaul’s Drag Race
All Stars 7! Who are you
rooting for?
Guess what? I love every
single queen and most of
them I know. So I prefer not
to say names…but I’m crazy
excited to watch it!

Broadway Review:
TITANIQUE - FLAWLESSLY
UNSINKABLE
“Promise me you will survive….that
you will never give up….no matter
what happens…no matter how
hopeless, promise me now“….Jack
Our hearts go on nearly 22 years
later after Titanic sailed into theaters,
and sank into the minds and souls
of nearly everyone on the planet
forever…..Once again the Titanic was
salvaged but this time with the new
off Broadway spectacular “Titanique.”
The musical dazzles with talent,
humor and heart, and the songs of
Celine Dion.
The Asylum Theatre was sold out and
packed with standing room only on
opening night of Titanique, a musical
parody of the eleven-time Oscar
winning film. The hilarious adventure
began when Celine Dion found herself
in the midst of the titanic museum and
reenacts the original voyage of the
destined ship.
The musical and the cast were
flawlessly unsinkable. Infusing pop
culture, an ode to the 90’s, and the
catalog of Celine Dion, entangled with
the original story, provided Titanique
with an awe-inspiring brilliance that
doesn’t exist anywhere else on earth.
Watching the extravaganza was
like traveling through space at an
incredible speed and everything we
know and love is held in place only
by gravity. The whimsical scenarios
made us laugh, the music gripped us
and the talent excited the hearts of all
present.
Celine Dion was portrayed by Marla
Mindelle ( the co-author). She was
an impeccable Celine sparkling
with authenticity. The role of Jack
(also co-author) was sensitive and
striking. Frankie Grande who played
both the roles of Victor Garber and
Luigi was absolutely breathtaking,
gay and delicious. The Kathy Bates
double, Kathy Deitch who was the
extreme likeness of Molly Brown was
simply arresting on every level. Alex
Ellis also stood out as the perfect
Rose in every possible way while
Ryan Duncan was an uncanny and
unapologetic Ruth. Jaye Alexander
who doubled as Tina Turner and the
iceberg was funny, powerful and
decadent and John Riddle portraying
the role of Cal was just superb. Even
the ensemble, Courtney Bassett and
Donnie Hammond were riveting.
The remarkable cast had an opulent
camaraderie with one other that was
evident on stage and to the crowd.
They were having fun and so was the
audience proven by their 10 minute
standing ovation upon conclusion.
Titanique re-ignites the fire that went
out on Broadway during the pandemic
and brings back the effervescence
we’ve all missed……

FRANKIE GRANDE
HITS THE STAGE AGAIN!
Frankie Grande is a well known Broadway performer and TV personality
(and Ariana Grande’s brother), and he is coming to the Asylum Theater
(307 W. 26th Street) for a run in Titanique. It’s a hilarious romp of a
musical using Celine Dion songs to tell the Titanic story, but in a very
queer and satirical way that no iceberg can interupt! In a conversation
with the recently married actor and singer during a rehearsal break, we
spoke to Frankie about Titanique and what a thrill it was for him to be
cast, as well as some of the backstage fun he’s having.
INTERVIEW
Hello, Frankie. So let’s
talk about your new
off-Broadway show,
Titanique. I know it’s a
spoof, so what role do
you play?
It is a parody of the film
Titanic. I play Victor Garber,
who in our version is
basically the captain, the
owner and the builder all
in one role, lovingly called
Victor Garber, which is just
hysterical. I also get to play
Luigi from Mario Karts,
which is our version of
Fabrizio from the opening–
Leo DiCaprio’s best friend.
So how did you get
involved with this?
I’ve been really good friends
with Constantine Rousouli,
who wrote the show with
Marla Mindelle [and Tye
Blue], for many years. I was
doing Cruel Intentions off-
Broadway with Constantine
when they were looking to
do a reading of the show.
He was like, “Listen, I’ve
got this role. It’s a Celine
Dion musical, it’s Titanic,
you get to play the captain,
you get to crash the ship
into an iceberg while singing
‘I Drove All Night’. Are you
in?” I was like, “Absolutely.”
We are in rehearsals now
and it is just so much fun. I
get to smile and laugh with
my friends all day long. And
it is just a joy. The cast is
phenomenal. Constantine
and Marla have really
written something that I
think people are going to
love. They’re going to really
flock to it. I think we need
this kind of theater at this
time. I think we need some
escapism. I think we need
some joy. It is so queer and
it couldn’t have been more
perfectly timed for Pride. It
is the gayest show I’ve ever
been in by far.
Do you get to be a little bit
of yourself in it?
I definitely have added a
lot of Frankie-isms. People
are going to think, ”Oh wow,
Frankie was really acting in
this.” I play two very strong
characters that are not like
me. But I do add a lot of
my Frankie Grande flare to
it, which is great. The way
they directed us is kind of
like we are retelling the
story. So there are elements
of us in these characters
as well because we are like
an echo of the past. You’ll
see me, Frankie, out a few
times. It is a wild role.
I cannot wait to see it.
What is your favorite
part?
My number, “I Drove
All Night”, is pretty
wonderful. I think I like
when we transform into our
characters when we do our
reveal in the beginning. It’s
when you are introduced to
all of our characters. I really
think it’s a very magical
moment. I think my favorite
part is when Celine does
anything. When you see
Marla as Celine Dion, you’re
going to lose your mind.
She is so talented and so
funny. Her impersonation
is so wonderful. I honestly
think Celine would love this
show.
How long is the show
running?
We are currently selling
through the end of
September. We open on
June 14th [June 23 is the
official opening]. We have
done this show four different
times and every time
we’ve had like three days
of rehearsal. It has been
amazing to have a month
of rehearsals this time. That
is what we were missing.
When we do a staged
reading, you don’t get to do
dance numbers. This has
been very exciting and I
can’t wait for the people that
have already experienced it
as a reading to experience it
as a fully staged musical.
Aside from this, are you
working on any other
projects?
I am still doing my
SpongeBob podcast,
SpongeBob BingePants,
and those episodes come
out weekly on Thursdays,
wherever you get your
podcasts. We are just
wrapping up season
one–the episodes are still
coming out. Pride is going
to be a very busy month
for me. I’m going to be
everywhere. So look out for
me because I will be around
as a newly married man.
[Frankie and Hale Leon
tied the knot in May.] I love
this city so much. I’ve been
seeing so much theater,
which is great because I
haven’t seen a show since
before the pandemic. I am
happy to be back in the city
and happy to see that New
York is thriving again.

Interview >>>
Thotyssey: Hey, Ada! It’s
an exciting time here as
we approach the warmer
weather, but things of course
were looking pretty bleak
during the Covid lockdown.
What was your experience
like, getting through that?
Ada Vox: The Covid lockdown
was rough for many different
reasons, but the fact that it
happened when I was on the
verge of making big things
happen for myself is what really
put a damper on my mood
throughout the first half of the
lockdown. I was just about to
go on my second tour and was
in the planning phases of my
first album, music videos, a talk
show, and so many wonderful
things to finally move my life
and career in the direction I had
always dreamed of. The only
saving grace through all of this
was that I was lucky enough to

have my partner with
me, so I didn’t have
to do it all alone.
As far as TV drag
queens go, you
have had a really
interesting career
because you were
not on one of the
flagship RuPaul’s
Drag Race shows–
but you were on
World of Wonder’s
Queen of the Universe and
two seasons of American
Idol. And especially because
of that latter show’s universal
popularity, you’ve probably
been seen and are known by
thousands more TV viewers
than the most popular
queens on Drag Race. Do
you feel like your fanbase is
more mainstream and less
niche than the RuGirls?
This is an interesting one and
it is something that crosses my
mind quite a bit. Being on Idol
did allow me to be in front of
quite a mainstream audience.
And whilst I don’t think it makes
me less “niche” than the Drag
Race queens, I do think it
has allowed me more types
of opportunities that the Drag
Race girls might not get. As
we all know, Drag Race has
been going on for quite a while
now, but I still have people tell
me that they had never even
seen a drag queen on TV until
they saw me on American
Idol…much less a drag queen
attempting to wiggle her way
into the mainstream music
industry since RuPaul with
“Supermodel.”
I think that I have the capability
to draw in a much more
mainstream fanbase because
of what I do as a vocalist and
musician, but I do also wish
that the huge RPDR fanbase
would be more willing and
ready to jump on to support
queens like me who haven’t
been on the franchise, but
still have been working for
years–even before I was on
Idol in drag–to make a career
for ourselves outside of the
franchise.
You are going to be
performing in our city this
summer, starting with a
concert at the soon-to-open,
Daniel Nardicio-owned venue
Red Eye NY on Thursday,
June 30th. Are there any
specific New York queens
that you know well or have
worked with or just admire
from afar?
In terms of “know well,” I can’t
say that I’m extremely close to
any of them…but I have looked
up to queens like Brita Filter,
Lagoona Bloo, Jasmine Rice
LaBeija, Jan and Rosé for their
accomplishments.

9TH AVENUE SALOON
HELL'S KITCHEN'S LONGEST RUNNING GAY BAR,
IS BACK AFTER A TWO YEAR HIATUS!
Just in Time for Pride, It Re-Opens Under New Management:
Now Gay Owned and Operated
Just in time to celebrate
Gay Pride 2022 with its
friends and neighbors, the
9th Avenue Saloon, Hell’s
Kitchen’s legendary watering
hole, will re-open under
new management, now gay
owned and operated for the
first time in its four-decadeplus
history!
Hell’s Kitchen’s original
LGBTQ+ bar shut down in
March 2020 at the start of
the COVID-19 pandemic and
it remained shuttered until
now. Following extensive
repair and renovations,
the 9th Avenue Saloon will
retain “its original legendary
neighborhood feel, but with
a fresh polish!” said one of
the new owners.
What will returning friends
find? “We’ve kept the
essence of what made
Saloon such a popular place
for neighborhood regulars,
as well as visitors from
around the world,” says
the co-owner. “You’ll
still find the jukebox,
the photo booth, and
the popcorn–especially
the popcorn! Everyone
we talk to asks about
that! And you will even
see some familiar faces
behind the bar!”
What else? “A new bar
was a necessary fix, so
your drink didn’t slide
down to your neighbors.
And we think you’ll all
especially appreciate the
new restrooms. We’ve also
turned a dead spot into an
intimate sitting area for
conversation. And we’ve
got five new Smart TVs so
you can come by to watch
everything from Drag Race
to the Oscars to the Super
Bowl. But we’re still a work
in progress. We hope you
like the changes, but we’re
gonna let the customers tell
us what they want. We want
to be the ultimate spot for
the community to gather.”
Located at 656 9th Avenue
between 45th & 46th Streets
in the heart of Hell’s Kitchen
and the Theater District, the
9th Avenue Saloon has been
serving the community for
over 40 years, and is one
of the oldest LGBTQ+ bars
in New York City. A theater
district mainstay forever
for casts and crews, it’s
the perfect spot to grab a
cocktail before or after that
Broadway show.
Hell’s Kitchen’s longest
running and friendliest
neighborhood bar is the
perfect spot for meeting up
with old friends or making
new ones. Whether you’re
hanging out after work with
the neighborhood regulars,
celebrating a special
occasion, or just looking for
a great place to find booze
and boys: this is the place
for you!
The 9th Avenue Saloon
will be open daily from
2pm. You can follow the
Saloon online now to stay

“NEON MOON” AND PRIDE

Dave Audē, perhaps the most sought after DJ and producer on the planet,
announces his new release, a remix of Brooks & Dunn’s legendary “Neon
Moon” with country star Cody Belew. The song is set to launch on June
17, having originally debuted in 1992, hitting #1 on the country charts.
Dave just performed at several Pride after parties, including Pride in the
Shore in Pittsburgh, INVY in Indianapolis, Fayetteville at George’s, and
Roscoes in Chicago, and at Nashville Pride Official, he was on the main
stage.
The multi Grammy award recipient has worked with artists including
Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Toni Braxton, Donna Summer, Beyoncé,
U2, Ariana Grande, Bastille, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Selena Gomez,
PussyCat Dolls, Korn, LeAnn Rimes, the Killers, and an endless amount
of others. He’s had 135 #1 Billboard Dance tracks and still counting. I was
fortunate enough to have a conversation with Dave regarding his up and
coming release, Pride parties and his career.
INTERVIEW
It’s great to speak with
you again. I know you’ve
been up to a lot of things
since we last spoke. What
inspired your long and
fabulous career to begin
with?
I think when I started out,
my goal was to make big
records. All of that has
drastically changed. I still
want to make big records,
but the important thing is
that I just make stuff that I
enjoy. I enjoy what I do. And
I continue doing that and
people continue calling me to
ask me to work on stuff and I
am able to support my family.
Those are the two things that
drive me every day.
Tell me about the new
country song that you’re
releasing.
The last time I talked to
you, I don’t think I lived in
Nashville. Four years ago,
my publisher suggested that
I come to Nashville and try
writing music out here. I told
that to my wife, and by the
time I got home from the
meeting, she had already
pulled up houses. You get
way more bang for a buck
here than in L.A., and I didn’t
want my kids to grow up in
L.A. It’s really worked out
great. What I am leading up
to, Eileen, is when I moved
to Nashville four years ago,
I couldn’t have told you a
Reba McEntire song. I’ve
moved here and have really
been able to learn music and
find out about a new type of
music that I wasn’t involved
in at all. So, I’m now involved
in this city and this new thing
that is huge here. It’s part of
their culture. Moving here,
I did not know one Reba
McEntire song, but now
I’ve worked on three. Also,
moving here, I worked on a
song that is really huge by
Brooks & Dunn, who were
one of the biggest duos of all
time here. Their biggest hit
is called “Neon Moon” and
everybody here knows this
song. If you went line dancing
in the ‘80s or the ‘90s, you
knew this song. I heard this
song for the first time, really
listening to it, when I heard
my friend Cody Belew sing
it at a little gay dive bar in
East Nashville called Lipstick
Lounge, and it just struck
a chord with me. I knew
that I had to redo this song,
and that’s what I did. It’s an
amazing song and I knew
that it would translate into
this dance version that I did.
I was also really inspired by
Elton John and his song that
he has out now, “Cold Heart.”
I thought if I could take
“Neon Moon” and the Elton
John vibe and put those two
things together, it would be
awesome. And that’s exactly
what I did.
That’s very cool. In addition
to your new song, you have
all of these Prides going
on.
Yes, I do, and last time I
talked to you, I also probably
had all these Prides going
on. I’m not playing as much
as I did five or six years ago
because I’m really focused on
my craft, which is producing,
but I still love DJing because
I’ve been doing it for almost
25 years. Twenty five years
ago, I didn’t even know
what Pride was. It wasn’t a
term that I knew or used or
thought about. When I started
doing records for people like
Madonna and Selena Gomez
and Katy Perry and Rihanna
and Beyoncé and one million
others, I very quickly learned
that I had developed a gay
following. The first time I
ever realized that I had a
gay following was when I
was playing a straight club
in St. Louis. The guys that
ran that club told me they
had a weird request. There
was a club across the river
in East Nashville that was
a gay club and they wanted
to know if I would come and
play from three until six in
the morning. Who goes out
to six in the morning? That’s
crazy. So I found myself in
the middle of a gay club for
the first time ever. I think I
was probably 30 years old.
And there were turntables
there and I put the records on
and they loved what I played.
It was great. I found out that I
had a lot of gay fans. It really
opened my eyes to a whole
new demographic and a new
group of people and new
friends. A few years later, I
ended up playing New York
Pride with Cher and Deborah
Cox at the Pier Dance. I don’t
know if that was the peak
of my Pride, but that was a
pretty damn cool moment in
the midst of playing Prides.
Since then, I’ve played all
kinds of different Prides,
whether in Milwaukee or
Toronto Pride and Chicago,
of course. I am in a place
where I never dreamed that I
would ever be DJing at Pride
events or even have a fan
base. I’m proud to be part of
the gay community.

HEADERO HEAD REVEALS WHY
THE SEXY APP IS SO POPULAR
with at any time while using
the app. So whether you’re
down with men or women or
non-binary people (or all of the
above), Headero is a space
for you.
Headero is a sizzling hot
app founded by Stephen
Quaderer, who told us
just what makes it so
explosively good.
Stephen, tell me a bit about
yourself.
My pronouns are he/him, I
identify as Gay and Pan, and
I’ve lived in NYC for over 16
years. I’ve been in the tech
space for about 10 years.
I’m sex positive (a thot, if you
will). And I’m the founder of
Headero!
So, Headero, the hookup
app for oral pleasure. Why
oral?
Oral is incredibly hot! Erotic,
intimate, versatile. All the
things. And I felt like we could
make a place that served
people who were down with
oral and were otherwise using
10 different apps to find it.
How is Headero different
from other hookup apps?
Well, first off, if you’re into
oral, Headero lets you connect
in a whole new set of ways.
You can set your preferences
to “eager to please” or “eager
to be pleased”–or both! And
you can also connect on a
range of oral styles–sensual to
rough, rimming to face-sitting.
Also, the fact that we’re
centered on desire (for oral
pleasure) rather than a
specific identity allowed us to
create a space for everyonepeople
of all identities: body
types, gender identities,
sexualities.
So, Headero has people of
all sexualities? How does
that work?
Yes! Headero is for everyone,
including people of all
sexualities. When you sign
up, you select your gender
identity–then while you’re
using the app, you can select
whatever gender identities
you’re “down with”. And you
can update who you’re down
Ok, so on the topic of
sexuality, we HAVE to talk
about the name Headero.
Haha, yes, yes. Like much
of Headero, our name is a
bit “tongue in cheek”. It’s
building on the terms “head”
and “erotic” because, well, you
know…But also, we liked that
it implicitly poked some fun at
some of the sexuality labels
that society centers on. So we
kind of chuckle at the fact that
our app rhymes with “hetero”.
Though of course, Headero is
very much an LGBTQ-friendly
(and founded and run) space.
So, is Headero only for
oral?
No, we’re not exclusively
for oral. While oral is erotic,
intimate and hot, we don’t
limit people to connect only
for oral. In fact, we let you
connect with people on the
basis of multiple kinks and
relationship dynamics. But I
think it’s safe to say that if you
meet someone on Headero,
they will be down with giving
or receiving oral (or both!).
Cool, thanks for chatting.
Anything else to share?
Thank you! I appreciate the
chance to chat with you and
the Get Out readership.
Happy Pride!
