SMVR CLUB MEMBERS
Show Me Vintage Racing was started with a few country boys that enjoyed
playing in the dirt!
Mickey Fleethart and Jim Cox were both racing other class cars in 2001,
when they came up with the idea to start a club where they raced vintage cars.
The two of them decided to go to several different tracks to see if and who they
could recruit to race the vintage cars. The SMVR Club was actually formed in
the year of 2002 with about 7 members. Ever since then it has grown to be
about 25 to 30 members. The members consist of men and women.
Vintage Street stock is a class of racing whose primary goal is to have fun
while enjoying the experience of a lifetime with friends and family! Sure there is
some competitiveness during the races, but in the end it is all for fun! The club
always comes together to help one another if break downs happen and repairs
are needed. When you are around this group of men and woman you are sure to
have a good time and your cheeks will hurt from all of the smiling that you will
be doing. This is definitely a fun class to watch racing at the track.
There are certain specs for racing the Vintage street stock class, but most
of the cars have similar engines with about the same horsepower and all of the
cars have a full safety roll cage.
Check out this club on FB @ Show Me Vintage Racing
Car owner: Jim Barnes #99b
1946 Mercury Monterey "Bernadean"
Jim Barnes is the proud owner of this 1946 Mercury Monterey. He bought
this car in 2019 from a guy in St Louis. It is an original car that the racers
drove in the 60's and 70's. Jim Barnes has been driving for many years
and Jimmy was one of his guys in the Pit Crew that would help him out. Jim
decided to let Jimmy drive the car as a payback for all of his help over the
years. Jim (driver) has been working on cars since he was at least 12 years
old. He works for Jim now and has always loved being around racing, so
finally he gets to be the driver of one of the cars.
