WELCOME
TO OUR NEW STAFF
Kim Smyth has recently joined UCC Library
team as Assistant Librarian (Collection
Services). Kim has worked in Cork County
Library & Arts Service in a variety of roles since
2005. She has led the management of
collections as part of the Local Studies Library
and was responsible for digitising this
collection also. Kim has also held roles as
Information Officer in a publishing firm in
London and served as Library Assistant in
Cork Institute of Technology earlier in her
career.
Kim will play an integral role in developing
new collections-based services such as the
UCC Library Reading Lists Online Service.

Dr. Deborah Thorpe has recently been
appointed the role of Research Data Steward
at UCC Library. She now works as part of the
Library Research Support team. Deborah has
a wide range of experience and has
previously worked as the Education &
Outreach Manager at the Digital Repository of
Ireland. She had responsibility for planning
and delivering DRI's training programme in
digital preservation and data deposit
workflows as well as responsibility for
planning DRI's researcher education
curriculum.
