GSFE is all about finding our members opportunities to speak, to get awards and many other 

things as you are important to me and our board. 

A few opportunities for speakers and authors I want to share this month. Just remember I work 

hard to find the opportunities for you but it’s up to you to take action, remember we can lead 

a horse to water but we cannot make them drink. So, if you want to excel in your life, you 

must take action and that could mean stepping out of your comfort zone. 

Conferencealerts.com is a great place to look for speaking opportunities, you can even set up 

the categories you want to get notices for its a great way to develop leads in where to look for 

speaking opportunities. 

Radioguestlist.com lists radio shows and podcasts looking for guests, or if you have a show or 

podcast is also a great place to get guests. 

Freespeakersbureau.com has lists of places looking for speakers a great place for new speakers 

to get noticed.

Congratulations to Murrieta Co Director Susan Vanderbergh on her recent pageant win, so very 

deserving. 

Thank you to Marneen Lynne Fields currently a member of our Virtual network but she will be 

moving from Vegas to LA so she will be able to be part of our live CA networks so you can then 

meet her in person. As you know she is an award-winning actress who has won many awards, 

she was also one of Hollywood’s top stunt women.

Many of you met her at the Gala. Well, another hat she is going to wear is that of producer/ 

director of her own original script into a movie. The Movie is going to be called “Whose Going 

To Take Care of Me Now.” This screen play has been nominated for 8 best screenplay awards 

since 2018, Once completed the film will be submitted to Academy Award qualifying film 

festivals, along with being distributed on Amazon Prime, she is also trying to get the film on 

Netflix. This is her masterpiece after 45 years in the entertainment business. This will be her first 

feature film she will be directing and producing, a true heart-wrenching drama about mental 

illness, homelessness and salvation. 

Because Marneen is such a beautiful heart person and believes in giving back she is going to 

have many of our gsfe members in the film, a few with small parts and the rest as extras. I got the 

job of one day being her casting agent and provided her with names of our GSFE members for 

extras some also could get small parts. 

I am honored that I get to play Helen a teacher, Chebra Dorsey “Ochea” also has a small 

speaking role as does Susan Vandenbergh, Dame Shellie Hune and Nicole Farrell, others also 

might get considered for small speaking rolls the rest will be extras. She will be contacting all the 

individuals I recommended to her after the 4th of July and give them their scripts. She also might 

need more extras so if interested send me an email. 

The names sent were:

Gregory, Ilja Haverkorn, Vivian Haire, Felicia Harris, Raven Hilden, Terry Lea Hoard, Deborah 

Irish, Leon James, Bette King, Tyra Tee Lee, Jeannette LeHoullier, Debbie Love, Stone Love, 

Angelike Sunshine Lynch, Kara Maldonado, Susie Mierzwik, Gigi Mindreau-Banks, Pamela Moffatt, 

Jean Olexa, Lori Raupe, Arvee Robinson, Maria Scott, Yolanda Smith, Charmaine Summers, Joan 

Wakeland, Violet Williams and Dorothy Wolons. They will be in some scenes shot in November 

probably in the Menifee area. 

So, after the filming they will be able to also say they are an actress and have been in a film 

and this film could easily win an academy award. Marneen told me she loves giving individuals 

opportunities. 

I had on my bucket list that I wanted to be an extra in a film and I put it out there, she heard it 

and texted me that not only would I be able to take it off my bucket list it would be a speaking 

part that would give me screen credits, they are filming a segment at my house and that gives 

me location credits and I acted as a talent scout providing her with names along with others 

so that gives me talent scout credits so that was sure more than I ASKED for. So, you see how 

powerful the ASK is. 

Anything is possible if you are part of GSFE and show up at meetings, we have inspired so many 

women to write their books, to grab an opportunity and build their brand, to connect with 

others and to ASK. If you don’t make the effort to SHOW UP, then we cannot make the effort to 

help you soar. It’s your choice. 

Also, because I SHOWED UP, I got to meet some amazing international women who nominated 

me for my Humanatarian Honorary Doctorate award that I received in Atlanta in May, Because of

that I have the honor of now being able to nominate other women I feel are deserving to also get 

their Honorary Doctorate award this year which will be Dec 3rd in London and next May in Atlanta 

GA which is where I received mine. 

This year I nominated 20, all have been approved by Dr Lenore Wimberly-Peterson who heads the 

program at the GIA college in Atlanta and Dr Caroline Makaka in England. 

So far 2 have said they would prefer to go to Atlanta next May those two are Marlena Martin and 

Jean Olexa. 

As far as I know the others are going to London they are: 

Angela Covany, Angeline Benjamine, AnGele Cade, Angelike Sunshine Lynch, Chebra Dorsey 

“Ochea”, Charmaine Summers, Dame Shellie Hunt, Dr Cherilyn Lee, Joan E Wakeland, Kara 

Maldonado, Lauryn Hunter, Lisa Ray, Marcy Decato, Gigi Mindreau-Banks, Omenesa Akomolafe, 

Stone Love and Virginia Earl. So, after graduation they can add DR to their names. 

Because the event will be in London, they will wear blue robes with gold and black, Atlanta colors 

are Red and Black. So great about Blue as that is our GSFE colors. 

There will be other happenings while we are in London, Dr Makakas Loani (Ladies of all Nations 

nonprofit) will have their 51st anniversary and it will be a big gala party that we will be attending, 

and Dr Makaka will launch the GSFE network she will head and we will be there to meet our 

London GSFE sisters. 

So right now, we are scanning all airlines so we can all book our flights. The Hotel in London that 

Dr Makaka has selected is really nice. I am going to cheer them on and also, I am getting a title 

from Dr Lenore to give me authority each year to nominate women from CA not necessarily all gsfe 

women to get their Humanitarian Honorary degree. 

None of this would have happened if I had not SHOWN UP and met these dynamic people and 

they learn about the work we do for GSFE and the work I have done. When an opportunity comes 

to me, I immediately look at how can I also make it happen for others which I do, and many times I 

did not know about the opportunity until it was offered to me. 

Next year I will nominate more for the May Atlanta date. 

Just a note also about SHOWING UP, our “World Kindness Day” awards event is happening Nov 

13th and the directors of all our networks will be picking two of their members to receive awards, 

not only will they be looking at how you support GSFE, but do you SHOW UP at meetings and 

what are you doing in your community. It takes a team to make things happen and if you are not 

willing to play with the team you cannot expect awards and opportunities to come your way. 

There is still time to start showing up and become involved. 

Be sure and sign up for our online conference Sept 16th as not only will you get to meet more 

members you will help them put together some scholarships with your support so watch for that 

flyer, also sent some other events that will be happening show up for them as well.

You are totally missing out if you do not make the effort as our speakers are amazing and they 

will help you become even more successful, so stop all the excuses and mark on your calendar 

the dates and SHOW UP. Remember if one network time and date does not work for you there 

are plenty of others to select from as you can go to anyone you want and even more than one a 

month if your time permits.

Menifee and November Mini Workshops and the Meet the Author Vendors that also will be there, 

that is happening in LA on Nov 11. Flyers soon will be out for the Online conference and the Nov 

13th Kindness Day. 

A big thank you to Angeline Benjamin who stepped up to be this year’s conference Chair and to 

Laurie Davis and Gillian Larson who are her cochairs and to all the people they have recruited 

to make the conference amazing, and to Joan Wakeland and Donna Weber for being Chair and 

Co-Chair of Kindness Day this year. Also, to Charmaine Summers who is co-chairing the August 

7th event with me and Nicole Farrell who is coordinating all the entertainment for that event. 

Remember together we can do more, we do not compete we complete! 

GSFE is growing, a big thank you to all the directors especially to Bette King Coachella Valley 

and Omenesa Akomolafe who are doing an outstanding job of getting new members and having 

them SHOW UP at meetings. 

Our new members so far mid-June to now are go to their network pages hopefully they have 

given some news about them, I know when Omenesa gets a new member she does a write up 

with photo on Facebook which gives that person some great PR.

will be sent to you, take time first to check out and make sure all your information on the list is 

correct and then reach out and introduce yourself to some of our members.

zoom, she can add these international women to her meeting. 

A big thank you to Jodie Moncrief the former Director for SOC who did a fantastic job for a few 

years, due to her mom being ill and her workload she had to step down as Director but trained 

a replacement, so the new South OC director will be Angelike Sunshine who will also do an 

outstanding job and she is excited to step into that role.

We are still waiting for some of our networks to start and some to get members but that will all 

happen when it’s meant to happen. 

Congratulations to all the GSFE members that stepped up to the opportunity to be in the Book 

that Angela Covany put together “Love your Haters”, she sent the opportunity out to many 

gsfe members and 24 stepped out and stepped up and said YES and this book made #1 best 

seller and most of the ladies who were coauthors in the book it was their first time as an author. 

Even if you are a co-author you can claim title AUTHOR. 

I believe my book it’s all about SHOWING UP and the POWER is in the ASKING was the start to 

make our members realize that everyone has a book in them as we had 46 

coauthors in that and many of those authors have gone on to write their own books. 

Joan Wakeland is on her third book just written by her and is still coauthoring in other books. 

Susie Mierzwik is coming out with her own book, Raven Hilden is just launching her book, 

Violet Williams is soon launching her book, this warms my heart to know that we have inspired 

women to step out and get those books out. Yolanda Smith is on her second book, a big 

thank you to Angela Covany and to Lori Raupe, Arveen Robinson and to Deborah Thorn all 

GSFE members who have given opportunities to our members to be in one of their books and 

congratulations to those women who said YES and are now published authors. 

Seeing all those happenings it even inspired me that it was time for me to write my own book, I 

have been in 36 books over the years as a coauthor, on the cover of three magazines but never 

wrote my own book, so a big thank you to the Corona Chamber for having me be one of the 

speakers last year for their women’s conference and gave me the word Achieve and to Lauryn 

Hunter who said “Robbie that’s the title of your book” to Peggy McIntaggart Seagren who gave 

me a great women photo that Angela Covany incorporated into my cover, to Marcy Decato for 

laying out my book and to Angela Covany for editing and publishing the book, 

I made a commitment that it would be published on my 86 birthday March 8th which is also 

International Women’s Day, and even though they did not have lots of time when I gave them 

the book Marcy and Angela made it happen with an E book on that date. We have recently 

published the soft cover book, and many are telling me they love the book. 

Now that I have my own book my preference is just to continue to be in other chapters as a 

coauthor no desire to write another book myself, I prefer being a coauthor is what I love doing 

as I feel those books give the readers so many opportunities if they don’t like one story there 

are others they can select from and everyone in the book is promoting it out there. 

This year alone I have been in 4 different books as a coauthor and writing a chapter for me 

is easy. I was honored to also be a coauthor in the Love Your Haters book and also thank you 

Omenesa for asking me for a chapter in the book you are doing for your speaking tour. My 

chapter title is “Your Future Is Brighter” also check out the flyer in the newsletter of her CA 

stop on her speaking tour it will happen in Menifee CA and will be FREE for all attendees. 

Also, we are going to be able each month to feature a member in the Executive Women 

on Line global magazine that Althea Ledford does as well as have our networks listed in it, I 

will be featuring Angela Covany this month as she gives so much to so many women to get 

published so will be working on that article this week and then each month will feature different 

members.

get that information to your directors so they can add it with their news.

Happy Fourth of July Month. We are setting off our own firecrackers for sure . We are on 

the move with new members coming on board. I want to thank the other networks that 

travel far to come to attend our meetings and I encourage each of you to attend others 

meetings. If you would like to attend and don’t wish to drive that far, please contact me 

as we have our concierge John who drives and we all pitch in. Same goes with events as 

U as Director attend most of them. 

Upcoming events in July are awesome. Our sister Lorie loftis is celebrating her two year 

anniversary for the Shops on San Pablo and she has included some of our members for 

her celebration. On Weds July 20/Patrice Morris will be entertaining. On Thurs we have 

our GSFE meeting and on Friday I will be doing Fashion Bingo and Creative Dressing 

Workshop and. on Saturday OSHAy will be having a Trunk Dhow and Barbara Berg will

How We Are Taught To Be a Girl vs. Raising a Daughter With Grit 

Debbie Love is a 4th Degree Black Belt and Certified Instructor in Karate. She began her 

training over 20 years ago specifically to learn self-defense. At 4’11” and 100 lbs, she 

certainly doesn’t look the part, but don’t let her small size fool you--Debbie can easily 

stop a predator in their tracks. While Debbie has taught self-defense to hundreds of 

women, she is now focused on teenagers to make a difference for the next generation 

of women. Her new movement and rallying cry “I SAID NO!” (#ISAIDNO) uses a simple 

hand technique that would be devastating to a sexual predator. What sets Debbie apart 

from others is her ability to teach self-defense and address women’s safety issues from 

a woman’s point of view.

Here are a few fun facts about our Oceanside Chapter. We meet the 2nd Monday every 

month at 5:30 PM. 

We meet in a clubhouse that is free to use. It sits atop a hill with a lovely view, it has a full 

kitchen, extra tables, and chairs, as well as a living room with a TV that our speakers can 

use for their power point presentations. All of this makes for a very intimate setting and 

conducive for really getting to know each other. 

Our members and guests love not having to pay for dinner and drinks. We encourage them 

to bring their own snack, dinner, drive through and drinks, can be wine and water is fine! 

Sometimes we even have members bring goodies to share with the whole group, like pizza, 

cheese and meat platters, homemade cookies, extra water bottles etc. 

We also encourage each member to bring a tabletop display of their business with 

brochures and or items to sell, and there is no extra charge like in some networking groups. 

In addition, we encourage our members to bring a raffle/door prize to give away for extra 

time to promote their business, and we have incorporated “Shout Outs” at the end of our 

meeting to encourage doing business together and making our meetings more fun! 

In May we welcomed Barbara Berg as speaker. Her topic, “Stress Busters” was very timely 

especially with what is that’s going on in our world today. 

We all have a choice and need to recognize the different levels not only where we are 

personally but also in others. Level 5: being the highest, you have freedom to choose, 

knowing life is good. Level 4: Having someone to talk to who really knows you, where you 

can bounce off of, and then make a decerning choice. Level 3: You hope things will get 

better; Ask for Help; if your hunch says you should, You Should! Level 2: You are just upset 

with everyone. You need to listen to your own heart. Level 1: Decision, stop going over and 

over whatever is keeping you down. Make a decision.

Donna Weber was our speaker for June, her topic was “Loving Kindness” 

She shared how selfcare is key in all areas of our lives, physical, mental, and emotional. She gave 

several ways we can take care of ourselves through diet, exercise, rest and managing stress. 

Some of her helpful tips, use a calendar, set a timer for tasks, set goals, accountability, and habit 

stack. We are so Proud of Donna who personifies Kindness! She also launched an adult coloring 

book focusing on kindness and is donating the sales to trafficking victims.

resonate with colors and the overall essence of the writings in the book. Yolanda is seeking to have women 

relate with their essence, growth, boundaries, love, and spirituality. She is the face of the “Pivot Woman’s 

Movement; a movement that inspires and encourages women to pivot and create a life that is fulfilling, 

freeing, fabulous, and most of all loved! 

She has been recognized for her contribution to her community. She received the Woman of Distinction 

Award from Senator Mike Morrell in October 2015. She also received the Celebration of Excellence Award

Lady then began appearing in stage plays and commercials and is a proud member of SAG/AFTRA. 

Pink Lady founded a 501(c)(3) - Senior Star Power Productions - in 2005; and for the past 5 years, has produced Pink Lady 

Presents, as an Intergenerational Television Variety Show for a worldwide audience, available on the EMT MEDIA TV 

Channel 25.1 Sunday evenings at 5 PM. 

Her Mantra is “one must have a positive attitude with lots of gratitude in order to succeed.” 

Pink Lady is blessed with 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren – who all call her Pink Grandma!

To inspire team building amongst the South Inland Empire group, I have created a Slack channel 

just for our members to join. Once a month, for one hour, we can come together on a podcast 

and shoot the breeze in a relaxed setting about a topic that is important to us and support one 

another. The invitation to the Slack channel will be emailed and texted out to the ladies in the 

South Inland Empire or Murrieta Network according to the most recent member’s list. 

We have our next meeting coming up in July 28 @12:30pm PST. We are excited to welcome the 

beautiful and brilliant Gigi Banks as our Guest Speaker. We all know Gigi from Creative Solutions 

Marketing & Printing, the wonderful business that helps us with all of our GSFE marketing 

needs. She will be telling us how to properly use promotional items in our business. That will be

News from Atlanta, Georgia! 

Susan Vanderburgh is a Co-Director of the Lake 

Elsinore/Murrieta/Wildomar Chapter of GSFE. 

Susan was delegated the state title of Ms. 

California Elite by the United International 

Elite Pageants (“UIE”) for the year 2022. As 

a result, Susan was qualified to compete for 

the international Division Queen title as Ms. 

Elite during the pageant week of June 18, 2022 

through June 22, 2022. In addition to the 

Division Title competition, Susan also opted to 

enter the optional competition for the title of 

Queen of Hearts. 

The title of “Queen of Hearts” is an international 

title open to women ages 16+ to 50+ and is 

awarded to the titleholder that authentically 

exemplifies the core values of United 

International Elite Pageants which are empathy, 

equality, and empowerment. UIE’s foundational 

belief is that real queens serve, they do not 

wait to be served. This most prestigious title is 

not limited to community service involvement. 

This additional competition also requires a 

service log of community service hours, a 

written submission, an interview, and a personal 

introduction. 

This international title is awarded to the highest scoring eligible titleholder. The recipient of this 

award will have the most unique role during her time as the 2022 UIE Queen of Hearts because 

she will assist her sister queens Internationally and locally to identify service projects to fulfill in 

specific communities. 

Prior to the final day of crowning the new International Queens, Susan was recognized with the 

President’s Silver medal for the President’s Volunteer Service Award for her service hours for the 

year 2021 and for continued community service. 

At the final crowning ceremony for the new royalty court of International Queens, Susan was 

crowned the international title of “Queen of Hearts”. 

Susan shared the following to show how much the Queen of Hearts title means to her: 

In 1981, when we newly arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, we were welcomed by a colored 

man who offered us dinner and his home for the night. I still remember how nice that man was 

when he drove us (my mother, father, uncle, two sisters, a brother and me) from the airport 

to his home where it was decorated and warm with fire glowing in the fireplace. That was my 

first experience of Christmas in the United States. It was that experience of philanthropy and 

volunteerism which made a memorable impression on me and how I could do the same for 

others. I want to create for others the same feeling that I received when I was benefiting from 

someone’s benevolence.

People ask how it is possible for me to have so many hours available to give away. My answer is, 

“I make time.” We have choices on how we spend time. I chose to use my time to help others 

by being their Business Mentor, all the while, also inspiring and motivating them. Fulfillment fills 

the void in my heart and pays a tribute to the indebtedness I have for my parents. 

I feel as though all my life experiences have been training me to become an international role 

model. It is now time for me to emerge and become more visible to the public. 

It is my honor and privilege to accept this role as Queen of Hearts. 

Even though my mother (Nhi Mui Ngan) might have never approved of me participating in a 

pageant, I wear my crowns in her honor because she has always shown me beauty, duty, love 

and respect. I hope that she will be able to see this from paradise, change her mind about 

pageants, and feel honored. 

For my father (Wing Leung) who has always believed in everything I do. I hope these photos 

brighten up his day a little. 

For my younger brothers and sisters, what stage fright? I cannot help it -- I am drawn to the 

stage, to public service and this is me. 

For all the friends who are afraid to shine, do not be. I can help you. 

For everyone I have met along this journey, please know that you are not forgotten by this Queen 

of Hearts.

transitional housing to the demographics of veterans, domestic abuse victims, youth aging out

housing, food, medical expenses and tuition.

Greeting Everyone, 

The GSFE virtual network meets on the first Thursday of the month. In May we met on May 5th, 

with Joy Ruffen as our speaker. Joy did a great presentation on the topic “Leadership and Style ” 

We learned from Joy’s presentation, the difference between a love for fashion and knowing your 

signature style. She provided us tips on how to dress for where you are in your life and still look

This quarter, we are delighted to feature our members, Adaobi Cornelia 

Onyekweli Bakare 

Adaobi Cornelia Onyekweli Bakare was originally from Nigeria. She grew up 

in Onitsha in the Eastern part of Nigeria and Lagos. She is the 7th out of 9 

siblings, of which only 6 survived. Her father was a railway signalman, and 

her mother was a petty trader. Both are now deceased. 

Adaobi grew up in Nigeria. She moved to London, the United Kingdom 

where she is still currently residing. She is married and in her third marriage 

to Olalekan Bakare. She has 2 children from her second marriage. Besides 

enjoying being a mother to her children, she enjoys writing, reading, 

dancing, and going to the movies! 

Surviving 5 Cardiac Arrests made Adaobi very vulnerable, to the extent 

that she forgot her name. The journey taken to recovery opened her eyes 

to how a life can become disrupted by one singular event. Her company 

rightly called Put You First Ltd came about as a result. Adaobi wants other 

women to know, that without them, there is no us. That is why Put You 

First’s founding principle is that the client is at the center of our attention, 

always. We are here to serve, and we use every means at our disposal to 

keep our clients satisfied and well-represented.

can implement overnight. After all, the definition of trust is the “firm belief in the 

reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.” Reliability is a key
