WEBSITE EDITOR
….... a word from our President
As all of you are aware one of our members is dealing with a major health issue. I've
tried to keep everyone informed on a regular basis. His recent treatment did make an
improvement in his condition. I've recently sent out an email with more information.
Let's continue to keep him in our prayers and offer support as needed. As I wrote about
last month, members of CVC are a special group. We have many people who are very
supportive.
Nominations for board members begin with our September general meeting. Please
consider running for office if someone asks if you are willing to run for a board position.
I know many of our members would be great officers of CVC. Please be ready to submit
completed nomination forms to the Nominations Committee at the September general
meeting. Term of office is one year and that time flies by! An officer can hold the same
office for no more than two consecutive years.
Discussion will also open on a proposed By-Law change at the September general meeting.
Membership will vote on the By-Law change at the Annual meeting in November. Changing
the By-Laws in any way is an important issue! Please read it and bring any concerns you have
to the September meeting. You have the final say with your vote. The proposed By-Law change
will be posted in the newsletter for your review.
Several club runs or activities with run fees are coming up this year. I'm giving you a reminder
to pay for any fees due on time. Doing so really helps the run leader with their planning.
Your President,
Jeff

Formed in 1991, Central Valley Corvettes (CVC) is 30 years strong and, in our
opinion, one of the best Corvette Clubs around. We are a not-for- profit
organization, comprised of numerous Corvette Enthusiasts from all around the
Central Valley. CVC is a family, always striving to improve the organization
through new and innovative ideas frequently brought on by new members.
The officers of this organization are very important to the club and consist of a
president, a vice-president/activities coordinator, a vice-president/public
relations and membership, a secretary, and a treasurer. All shall be valid regular
members of CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES. The president must have at least
one-year prior service as an officer of CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES or at least
one year prior service on a qualifying non-profit board, corporate board, or a
member of Central Valley Corvettes for two years in good standing as
determined by Central Valley Corvettes
Duties Include:
PRESIDENT. The president shall be the chief executive officer and chairman of
the board. The president shall preside at all general, annual and special
meetings of the members and at the meetings of the Board of Directors. In
general, the president shall perform all duties incident to the office of president
and other duties as may be prescribed by the Board of Directors from time to
time.
VICE PRESIDENT OF ACTIVITIES: In the absence of the president or in the
event of inability or refusal to act, the vice president/activities coordinator shall
perform the duties of the president, and when so acting, shall have all the
powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the president. The vice
president/activities coordinator shall coordinate all events of the club, and
appoint an event chairman for each event. The vice president shall perform such
other duties as from time to time may be assigned by the president and/or the
Board of directors.

VICE PRESIDENT OF PUBLIC RELATION/MEMBERSHIP: The vice
president/public relations and membership shall provide for hospitality at
general meetings as well as report on members birthdays and anniversaries at
monthly general meetings. Incumbent is responsible for tracking meeting
attendance of members and prospective members and will provide a listing of
members eligible to vote for club officers at the annual meeting. Membership
responsibilities include supervision of sponsorship of prospective members to
ensure all membership qualification requirements are met and that required
forms and payments have been submitted. Upon acceptance as club members,
the incumbent will award name badges and other club related materials to the
new members. Other duties related to public relations or membership may be
assigned by the president and/or Board of Directors.
by the member, coordinate activities of the Membership Committee; and in
general, perform all the duties incident to the office of secretary and such other
duties as from time to time may be assigned by the president and/or Board of
funds of the organization; provide the Board of Directors with a written
in the proper depositories; make proper checks for the statements of all
transactions; co-sign checks with the president, or in the absence of the
president, the vice-president/activities coordinator; and in general, perform all
the duties incident to the office of treasurer and such other duties as from time
to time may be assigned by the president and/or Board of Directors.
Our expectation is that you would consider and accept a nomination if you are
elected by a member in good standing to run for a position. Most of the current
board members would love to see new members take over their positions on
the board so our club could experience fresh new ideas. If you are interested
but hesitant or would like to know more about a position please ask us.

2023 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Will Be All Ate Up with Vette Firsts
WHAT IT IS: The first-ever Corvette hybrid gets an electric motor driving each front wheel, meaning
it's also the first AWD Corvette. Electrification is coming to America's Sports Car. Lots of it. The
first baby step will represent one giant leap for Corvette-kind by powering all four wheels—a 70-year
first for a production Corvette. Yes, at some point in 2023 the C8 Corvette will get e-AWD, courtesy
of hybridization with an electric motor powering each front wheel. In April 2022, GM president Mark
Reuss confirmed an all-electric Ultium-based Corvette was also in the works. One of these variants
is expected to get the E-Ray moniker, the trademark GM renewed in August 2020.
WHY IT MATTERS: Corvettes have long been regarded as the most daily-drivable of highperformance
sports cars, so adding a hybrid all-wheel-drive variant with price and performance in
between the base Z51 and Z06 models extends its general usability by improving traction in foul
weather—and when trying to route an extra 100-plus horsepower to the ground.
PLATFORM AND POWERTRAIN: Plug-in hybridization was planned from the start, with Ultium pouch
battery-module-shaped space reserved in the C8's aluminum center tunnel. So at least for the hybrid,
the architecture carries over mostly unchanged. We're not entirely convinced this first hybrid model
will be a plug-in, largely because we can't find any charging-port doors in spy shots of the car. That
could also add a lot more weight and makes more sense to be offset by the 5.5-liter twin-turbo flatplane
V-8 in the considerably wilder Zora model. We fully expect the 2023 Corvette hybrid to retain
its venerable 6.2-liter V-8, with the inboard motors adding at least 50 hp each for a total of 600-plus.
Those motors will erode but hopefully not eliminate the front trunk space.
ESTIMATED PRICE: Presuming light hybridization, a price just undercutting the wilder Z06 makes
sense, so figure somewhere in the $90,000 range. Or a bit more if there's a bigger battery and plug.
EXPECTED ON-SALE DATE: Look to see the Corvette E-Ray hybrid sometime in 2023.
The Spanish term La Veta Madre (The Mother Load) refers to
a rich vein of gold that included the region from Mariposa to
Downieville. In 1848 James Marshall discovered gold along
the American River, and the race for riches was on. We will
be spending three nights along State Route 49, the main
route linking gold country towns and visit landmarks,
museums, and other desKnaKons.
Many of the original mining towns
described by historians have vanished
and landmarks become fewer each
year as Kme, fires, and progress take
their toll. Plan to see it before it's gone
