REZMORAH

Alex Korolkovas

São Paulo, Brazil

I consider myself an artist first,

and a photographer second.

Rezmorah

Luso-Brazilian

This photo essay was born out

of a mutual interest, and from

there other inspirations were

brought to life.

Rezmorah is working through their body as their main medium.

As a Queer post-binary, positive-trans, the work of Mapplethorpe

has always had a strong impact on them in their artistic voyage.

This photo essay was born out of that mutual interest, and from

there other inspirations were brought to life.

Rezmorah strives for a more artistic and wholesome approach to

sexuality, bringing along eco-sexual references in their work as

well as sex-positive and fetish attire.

Theatre and performing arts background come to life in the

embodiment of many personas, though Rezmorah sees them more

as the embodiment of energy itself, then playing or dressing up

for a role, all are aspects of themselves.

They are currently developing an audiovisual Queer Mass or ʻSubMissaʼ

to be presented as an electronic opera.

In my work, I am adept at seeing into my subjects and showing their

truth. In fashion, I love the poetry of a heroic moment, showcasing

angles and depth and the way clothes make people feel. My work

attempts to blend the reality of the human condition with the fantasy

of fashion. Which, in my opinion, is used to elevate an idea, but I donʼt

call myself a fashion photographer. I use clothing as a tool to create

an identification with my subjects.

I use powerful expression, emotion, shape, lighting, and form to

sculpt an image and help to tell the hidden stories within. Sometimes

my work is etheric, sometimes dark, but always conveying a rich

narrative meant to illuminate the human being as his story intersects

the needs of a brand or an art project. I approach life and career with

a lust for “a knowing of” what makes my subjects tick.

I consider myself an artist first, and a photographer second.

I like to think that when Iʼm shooting, Iʼm also making art.

I first became interested

in the human form as a life

drawing model for art classes over

2Oyears ago.

With the

introduction of

digital cameras I

began

experimenting with

artistic selfportraits.

After a few years I

gained a following

online with my

photographystyle

and composition.

Eventually I wanted

to expand my

photography skills

and include others

in the process. I

began to

collaborate with

other

photographers as

their model. From

that I started to

advertise for male

and female models

on line in order to

create both portraits

and artistic nudes.

I first became interested

in the human form as a life

drawing model for art classes over

2Oyears ago.

In 2007 I retired from a

career in government and

was able to devote more time

to my photographic hobby. I

enjoy working with both

amateur and profesional

model in studio and outdoor

settings. I am particularly

keen on outdoor portrait

photography as it provides a

variety of backdrops and

locations. Having said that,

studio work is also very

fulfilling with preference

given to studios that offer

natural light through large

windows. Prior to covid I was

also photographing models

in my home studio with the

use of strobes and soft boxes.

With lighting i was able to

create interesting shadows

and effects. I was also able

to do my bathtub series which

has been very popular. I

hope to get back to home

studio work when Covid

concerns are behind us.

Although I am based in

Toronto, through my travel I

have been fortunate to

photograph models in San

Francisco, Palm Springs,

Hawaii, Vancouver, Montreal

and Sydney Australia.

I prefer to work on a

colaborative basis with a

model. I am always happy

to incorporate a models

personal interests into a

shoot whether if be in the

form of a fetish, personal

clothing, props or

accessories. I also enjoy

working with models of all

ages and body types. With

respect to nudity, I go with

the comfort level of the

model. always start all

models dressed and

throughout the shoot

remove the various layers

of clothing. I often use

coloured draping as it

enhances many of the

photos and in some cases

provides a level of

modesty.
