Isabel Overton Bader

1926-2022

Isabel Overton Bader, LLD’07, turned a lifelong passion for the arts into invaluable support

for generations of students at Queen’s University at Kingston, Ontario. She and her beloved

husband Alfred were known for their extraordinary generosity, notably their donations of

world-class works of art, Bader College, and the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts.

Through life-changing scholarships, curatorships, and research chairs, Isabel opened up the

worlds of music, art, dance, theatre, and costume. She believed in the potential of young people

to achieve excellence, and created opportunities to develop Canada’s gifted emerging musicians.

She sought to enable children, through music, to reach their potential as individuals and citizens.

Her deep commitment has forever enriched our experience.

Thank you, Dr. Bader.
