Enya Elissa English
OCTOBER 20, 2003 - AUGUST 18, 2022
Compilation Note: There were minor edits to some tributes for clarity.
For the most part, we have maintained the submissions as they were received.
Enya
ORIGIN: Irish
MEANING: Fire; Little seed, kernel
Enya as a girl’s name is of Irish origins and means “fire,” “little seed,” and
“kernel.” Enya is the anglicized version of Eithne and was popularized
by the Irish singer of the same name. In Irish history, at least nine saints
bore the name’s iteration. One 6th-century St. Eithne was the
mother of St. Columba, who was the Irish abbot credited
for spreading Christianity to Scotland.
Today, Enya is a much-loved classic along the Emerald Aisle
and is sure to put fire in the belly of your little one.
And, our Enya Elissa certainly lived up to her name. This tiny seed,
planted in our lives 18 years, nine months, three weeks and five
days, multiplied her smile, joy and talents within her family, church,
community, school and beyond. The fire she has lit is a powerful story of
purpose and legacy and one that will illuminate our lives forever.
We love you, Enya!
Enya Elissa English,
On the 19th of October 2003 it was a rainy Sunday evening when Everton and Maxine took me down
to Spanish Town Hospital to give birth to you, but you weren’t ready to enter this world until Monday
October 20th, 2003, on Heroes Day. That’s how I know you were destined for greatness - 4 pounds 4
ounces was your weight. The instant I saw you, my life totally changed. Yes, thank you Lord, I got a pair -
a boy and a girl. Giving birth to you was a joy. I will never forget. If I had to do it again, I would definitely
go through the days of not wearing any underwear and living on cough syrup just for you again without a
doubt. That Monday…I would do anything to go home to share you with my family and the world at large.
I did not give you any nickname because I never liked it, so Enya was what everyone called you until you
met your next mother, Aunty Jodi who called you Toothpick and I never had a problem with her calling
you that because it was only for church. Enya I’m torn, broken, bitter, filled will hatred for death because
he robbed me empty. I’m lost and confused. There’s a void that can’t be filled. There’s so much I want to
say but pain won’t give me the chance to tell you how I feel but one thing I’m grateful for is I took you
into the house of the Lord with me. So, I can be rest assured that you’re with your maker. The great, I am
Jesus Christ, loves unconditionally, loves forever, loves never to end my baby girl. 18 years, 9 months, 10
hours God gave you with me. Mom aka mama bear, cuddle with your king
Enya why? Why did you get up and leave us without warning? Nothing,
you just leave. Why couldn’t we fight harder? Why did you not fight harder? You just got up and left.
We will never get to see what you had up your sleeve and the greatness your mind conceived. You were
destined for greatness. I see it in the life you had, you touched both small, middle-aged, and senior
citizens. You have impacted so many in the short time God allowed you with us. But I know for sure you
will impact the angels, show them a move or two. Bitter pain lingers on, but God knows what’s best. Love
you in life and death my baby. Pure you are, and pure you will always be. You leave me, your brother,
family, community, church and school in shambles, but why?
Return if possible.
Kayeann
DADDY’S LITTLE GIRL
Enya, you were my daughter
But you were also my friend
And we have shared many moments
Talking about how you would transcend
One of your many dreams
Was to buy yourself a car
After graduating from college
So, you and I will par
I love you so much
And though you are gone
Deep within my heart
My love for you lives on
You will always be beside me
As my Angel
To protect and to guide me
You will forever be in my heart
You were right there from the start
Your love will never be disguised
You will always be by my side
For the rest of my life
You were precious to me
You meant the world to me
And you will always be Daddy’s Little Girl.
Paul English
Baby girl Enya, you are the first star at
night and the last one in the morning.
Keep shining your star bright in heaven
so we know that you’re there. I love you,
baby girl.
Aunty Michele
I am sorry I didn’t get the chance to fix
things with you... but for the times we
had together, I will always cherish. And
even though I know you’re in a better
place, I am still upset that you’re not here
with us. Have fun in the sky, mama, for
we will meet again. Until then, please be
safe. Love and love alone couszz.
my little cousin. Miss har so much!
Cousin Renee
A tribute to my niece Enya English:
I give thanks to God for Enya, because she was
the child of the great king Jesus. She was born
and grew up and was baptized in the Ebony
Vale Baptist Church, a family of Christ. The
short time God gave her to me as an aunty, I
am happy to have been in her life. I love my
niece, and I am happy that I told her that I
love her before she passed away. She is now in
a better place with her Saviour. I have so many
things to say, but God knows them all. You are
always in my heart.
Aunty Dorothy Dormer-Boothe/ Aunty Joan.
Enya was the best cousin out of all of them. She was nice, kind, loving, happy; Always tell me to do good
and listen to my grandmother. She loves me.
Lil cuzzin Joel
Enya, there’s a lot. I don’t know where to start my beloved cousin. You can go to Enya for help with
anything, and she will assist from she can help. Enya is a loving and caring person, a sweet, sweet, soul.
Enya always has something to talk about or is always asking questions and is a very demanding person
in her sweet way. Once you see Enya it’s always a little smile on her face and she loves to laugh. We all
know Enya is very loud and will slap you while laughing.
Always jovial. Always ask if I’m cooking when she knows I don’t cook. And always asking for ice cream or
box juice.
Enya is my sports buddy. She was always up for playing netball or talking about tracks, but mostly, in the
days before her sudden passing, we were always talking about track and field. Nothing feels better than
having someone who speaks your language.
The thing I love most about her is how she cared for my daughter like she’s her own. You cannot come
between them. She always asks for Yasi. Yasi eat? Yasi this, or that. She would video call because she
wants to see Yasi at any given moment. They sleep and bathe together. Everything it’s them. Any little
thing Enya run come for her and give me a fine piece of cursing and leave with her and say I shouldn’t
worry about my daughter, and I should have a nice day because she’s in capable hands. And I Know
Yasannia Will Always Love You Enya.
My Cousin Enya, I Love You Forever And Always. You’re Very Much Missed.
Your cousin,
A bright smile and a loud and squeaky voice are the first things that come to mind when I think of Enya
E. English. She was outspoken and non-violent. She loved children, going to church, and making Tik Toks.
I have never met anyone as assertive as Enya. The times I spent with her were mainly filled with laughter
and chatter, which would lead to full-on debates. She would, of course, never lose. There is nothing I can
do to bring her back, so I’ll just have to hold on to the many precious memories she has left behind.
From your cousin,
Shanni M.
I really hope you are happy wherever you are. I love you.
My dear cousin Enya, where should I start? We did everything together baby girl. How could you just
leave me like that? You left me in pieces, Enya. I don’t know how or when I will heal from this. Enya was
a very supportive cousin, who always helped me with my school work, combed my hair anytime in the
late hours or early morning for school. Enya and I walked to and from primary school every day together.
Enya was the older one but was very tiny in body, so most people thought I was the oldest. Enya wanted
me to pass for Merl Grove just like her so we could go to school every day together just like primary
school days. Enya taught me a lot and I just want you to know that I always have that special place in my
heart for you my baby . Enya was very loud with her little mouth. Enya loved to take off guard pictures
of me and post it and we used to argue a lot about that style that she had. We had our ups and downs as
cousins, but we always get over that because we are humans. There’s so much I could say baby girl, so
many memories we had both good and bad. I miss the times when dog would always run us down and we
are running and laughing like the idiots we are. We always a chat everywhere we go, especially in church,
as if we don’t live in the same yard. Baby girl, I miss you so much. Continue being the smart and awesome
person you are in heaven. Rest in paradise Enya.
Cousin Brianna
Anytime Enya would come home from school and go upstairs to change, Enya would come down in my
room and ask, “Grandma yu nuh have nuh snacks?” I said no. She said, “yes, them in the red pan right
there suh.” Suh me say, alright gwaan go tek out one, and den hear har now, “A one mi did want but me
see dem suh now me want two and mi want something fi wash it down too.” And me seh nuh yu horse yu
saggle. She laugh out loud and she seh, “alright grandma.”
Next time she come and she seh, “Grandma yu cyan buy mi two worm?” Mi seh mi nuh have nuh money
so go to Renee and tell Renee fi give yu two. No more than two yu hear me seh? She seh, “Alright grams,
thanks.”
Enya would always come and seh, “Grams me ago cook weh yu love enuh? The one bone meat - cow foot
and mi ago share your food nice yer?” Boy, mi just miss mi granddaughter, God know.
Sleep in peace, baby. Love,
Grandma
How I remember my sweet little cousin Enya, is Enya loves to smile. She had a beautiful one and Enya
loved laugh to nuh matter the situation or mood she was in. She’s always happy. Always jovial and I wish
to keep her that way in my memory. Love and miss you cousin.
Cousin Donnovan
John 11:25-26... Jesus said to her, “I am the
resurrection and the life. He who believes in me,
though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives
and believes in me shall never die.”
I miss Enya.
Cousin Kelly
Thinking about you got me to this scripture.
You’re not here in body, and I believe you’re
with the Lord. We are saddened that we only
got eighteen years and ten months with you,
but your memories will live on forever. Your
cousins (Azalea and Aurelia) will know how
wonderful you were. They will know about your
loud laugh and when anyone looks at you “a
wah?” would be your reply. They will know you
loved the Lord, and you were pure. I am going
to miss your random text asking if we are ok
and when we are coming over.
Enya you left me with Precious Memories
though you’re gone you will always be in my
heart. Gone too soon but you did not go
alone. You take a part of me with you. Love
you forever baby girl sleep on and take your
rest. God knows best.
Your loving, Aunty Angela
Our last conversation was about you spending
Christmas with me this year and how you’ll
help in the kitchen like the last time. Enya, I
will forever cherish the 2019 Christmas that we
spent together. Love you and miss you. You’re
one of God’s angels now.
Cousin Alecia Smiley Smith
Sorry you only had 18 years with us for
that’s too short...my heart hurts till now to
know you are no longer here with us. Your
memories will live on. Sorry we had to say
goodbye. May your soul rest in peace.
Claudette Daley Heslop
Enya, I miss you so much for the lil time that
we spent together. I love it, and I hope one we
will resume it but don’t worry we will see you
soon. One day we will all be together again.
So, my tribute of my cousin Enya, my little mawga cousin, is that we love to play together and I would
always love to run her down and hold her by her neck or turn her upside down by holding her by her feet.
I loved to lift her up but she would act like she doesn’t like it, deep down I knew she loved it. She loved
to run from mi suh me would always lay wait her on the step suh when she see me she would shout out,
“mommy talk to Davion nuh? Tell him fi move suh mi can go downstairs.” And Aunty Kayeann would
just shout out back, “mi nu business with you and Davion enuh.” And me nah move enuh suh she have
to come down so me must catch her. And a the two a wi that up and down in a the yard, because me
determined fi catch her and she woulda run fi her life because she little and swift enuh. We had so many
good times together and Enya used to love trouble me while I’m sleeping in grandma’s room. Love come
and tickle me foot and run and think me nuh know a she but when me ketch her she start shake and she
would say, “done, done, please.” Only thing I have left back is just memories haunting me. I know my
cousin is in the hands of the lord and is in a better place. I’ll miss her screaming out my name to leave her
alone and just us idling so much. Gwaan sleep in paradise my sweet cousin.
Cousin Davion
My memory of my loving cousin Enya. Where
can I start? She was a loving person, a person
that I can reason with about anything. Words
can’t explain how much I miss her, especially
these days playing games. Just enjoying her
time was a blessing. I wish she was here, but I
know I’ll see her in my dreams.
Christopher Junior, Cousin.
“Uncle Christopher, yu dah a town? Mi wah
you come fi mi” I was har personal transport
buggy “mi ago come work fi yu mi want
money.” Those were the words of my little
niece. She loves running and she loves sports.
Mi love play domino with har, mi love run har
down but mostly mi miss har smile because
it’s the One thing she knows how to do. Sleep
in peace mi niece.
Uncle Christopher
My Cousin Enya was a beautiful soul and a good
role model at times. She was the academically
smart one and a good athlete. She sometimes
managed to make you upset with dumb
questions like, “what are you doing?” when she
can clearly see what you were doing. She was
a mischievous soul, like when she troubles my
father and screams when she gets caught but...
idk I just wish I got a chance to say goodbye
because it hurts. I won’t see her again. Any
ways sleep in peace princess.
Abby (Cousin)
Well, this is about my niece Enya. Enya, my niece, was annoying and had a very loud mouth but she was
very caring and loving. She was the type of person that every time that Enya comes downstairs Enya
always wanted to trade the porridge that her mother made for any type of food. She always ask if me a
cook and what mi a cook because she doesn’t like to cook. Enya would pay me money to clean up meat
for her because she hated cleaning up meat. Every time Enya come see me, a pure food she talk bout,
food, food, food. Anytime, Enya come see me a watch tv she asks, “a weh yah watch?” All when she see,
she just loves to ask the obvious questions. But that’s just Enya. That’s just how she was. Enya love ask,
“Aunty Donna yu nah nuh bread? Beg yuh two slice a bread?” Me seh, “Enya mek yu suh lazy fi cook? Yu
mother have meat in the fridge season up, yu too lazy mon, gwaan guh cook.” Enya love fi buy har dry
food. Enya just different She loved her cousins so much. I know she misses them because they miss
her too. Enya, Aunty loves you and will always do.
Rest In Peace niecey, Aunty Donna
Enya, you’ve been my niece for 18 years, then they took you away. You will be missed now and forever.
Enya was smart, intelligent, funny, outspoken and she was a trouble maker at times. Sometimes she
makes me mad but you can’t help but to laugh at her, but what I miss most about her is that she is quiet,
and I love her for that. I’m really going to miss her. Gone but not forgotten.
7
Love you, Enya. Aunty, Marvia
Enya was like that comet which blazed across the evening that is gone too soon. Whenever you see
Enya the first thing to greet you is her teeth. I don’t know if it is because they were so pearly white,
she just had to show them off. She had that infectious smile with her one dimple. I can never ever recall
seeing her without her smiling, a charming, witty, brilliant, intelligent, and priceless treasure was she. I
remember when she was about 13 and she was there asking me a lot of questions, and I asked her if she
was planning to be a lawyer. She asked me why I said that and I told her because she nah ramp with the
questioning, and she burst out laughing.
Enya is like sunshine after the rain. A young lady who was not only goal oriented but was a true servant of
God. I last saw her on July 8, of this year and wow did she look beautiful. I said to her “Gal yu look really
good”, and as usual with her laughter she said, “Thanks aunty Judy.” When I heard that she was in the
hospital I tried calling her the same week and couldn’t get through. It wasn’t until the following Monday
that I got through to her. I asked her if she was boycotting my calls, she laughed and said, “No aunty.”
We talked for a while. I asked her how she was feeling, and she said she was feeling better, only the fever,
but she was getting antibiotics for it. Little did I know that would be the last time that I would hear that
voice and her laughter.
I know that death is a part of life, but still the knowing will never make it easier.
The comfort I take is knowing for a fact that Enya lived a fulfilling life. Yes, it
was short but God truly broke our hearts to take the very best. For flights of
angels are singing welcome home to her and she’s there dancing and smiling.
The life that Enya lived will always speak for her, what an amazing life she
lived. So, although my heart is broken and wishing won’t bring you back, I take
comfort knowing that I will see you again.
Your aunty,
Judith Walters
Enya English was my loving and jovial God
daughter n she will be forever missed. So
grateful for the time spent with you!
Love you hun.
Rohan Jenkins
It’s hard for me to start each day knowing that
you’re gone. I am so much in pain knowing I’ll
never see you again in this world. I will always
see your face in the corner of your smile and
all the little things that no one will ever know.
Goodbye is just a word I’ll never say, oh I still
feel you’re here with me, you’re more than
just a memory. Oh, Enya you’ll never been
forgotten even if a million years pass us by.
Sandra (Godmother)
U were a sweet and humble soul. I can recall you always remembering your little cousins after their
father died, if no one else did you did! U weren’t working but you got vouchers for school and you
thought of him and gave them to him to help with books. A birthday you never forget for them, you will
be truly missed. Rest in paradise baby girl the angels are lucky to have you amongst them.
Kerina Clarke
Saying goodbye
Was the hardest thing to do.
I never thought I would,
Especially not to you.
You always listened
And knew what to say,
Knew when to give a hug
When I was having a bad day.
No one will ever take your place.
I can always promise you this.
It’s hard to find someone like you,
So know you’ll always be missed.
Shanora
Life has shown us again its hurtful side
by taking you away from us when we
didn’t see it coming. You have left some
wonderful memories that will never fade
from my heart, weathering everything life
threw at you with such bravery. An Angel
gone too soon; he only takes the best. I
won’t see that beautiful smile any more,
two shining eyes at rest. A heart of gold
stopped beating,
Gone too soon.
Shanoria Liking
I’ve known Enya for a short while, but it seems like I’ve known her for quite some good while. Enya was
a very sweet soul towards me and always encouraging me to do my best in what I can. Enya is always
looking out for me even when she’s very sick. She always a call me to come and pick any of her snack that
she had, even if it’s not a lot. Anything Enya doesn’t want to eat when she was sick, I know for a fact she’s
going to call me and ask if I want it, even when she’s not ok. I miss you Enya.
Nickel Boothe
To my beautiful God sister, I hope your dancing and sharing that beautiful smile up in heaven… you
might’ve broken my heart by leaving us ; But it warms my heart just to remember every laughter and the
sound of your giggles. You’re a true gem one that brightens anyone’s day. As we try to cope with you
not around physically, I hope myself and other relatives and friends never forget what your presence feels
like. It’s hard to believe this but I’ll just tell myself that you’re taking your beauty rest. Afterall pretty girls
with beautiful smile like yours needs beauty rest.
Church
Family
Tribute For the Late Enya English
In January 2016 when I became pastor of the Ebony Vale Baptist Church I was ushered into the life of
Enya English and family. I countered Enya through the dance ministry of the church.
She possessed a pleasant personality but don’t let that fool you as she is also determined. She spoke her
mind and will defend whatever position she held dear.
To meet Enya English is to experience someone full of life and hope. She is the image of joy and purpose.
It seems like Enya had the strength to face and overcome anything.
Enya had a love for life that was infectious. You could not spend time around her without being infected
with her love for life. She represented grace amid trial and joy amid pain.
She will be dearly missed.
Pastor Oniel Brown
You brightened our lives with your radiant smile
Touched our hearts with each dancing glide
But now you are no longer walking by our side
For God has taken you home to glory land.
Reverend Stephen Smith
You sang to the Lord with all your heart from the children’s choir to the heavenly choir.
You became a member of the children’s choir at a tender age. Your dedication and consistency in this
ministry to the Lord, did not go unnoticed. Your charming smile and camaraderie shared with your fellow
choir members was unforgettable. You could be depended on to remember the tune and lyrics of the
songs rendered. You demonstrated such a proper disposition even when singing. You were indeed a
role model.
It is with deep respect and admiration that we salute you as a member of the heavenly choir. Sing on
Enya, sing with the heavenly angels.
Enya was with our ministry for only a few months but with that time she did well to leave her mark. From
her first day of recruitment with Donesa, without a fuss she accepted each task given to her as an honour
to help serve in God’s Kingdom. She was always willing to lend an extra hand when she could, especially
to Patricia and Jhanelle even though she was not on their team. Her effortless kindness can never be
forgotten. She brought her lifting spirit into the ministry, gracing us with her authenticity and positivity
and spreading her joy to others unintentionally by simply creating smiles and bringing fun by using her
wittiness. A dull moment could not exist while she was around.
A willing servant left us too quickly, but we praise God for the time we spent, the love we shared and the
work that she was able to produce even to the very end. We love and miss you Enya, until we can laugh
together again.
Toothpick, Winngie, Canngle, Slim Thing, Munchkin, Babygirl, Warrior Princess. None of us could have
imagined that this would be the end of our journey. Dancing was more than just another ministry; we
were a family. We were privileged to grow together spiritually, physically, academically you name it;
every aspect of our lives was intertwined. Through the good, the bad and the ugly nothing could break
the bond God placed in our group. You were one of the smallest in stature, but you were one of the
strongest, toughest, and energetic dancers we have ever had which is quite ironic because you were one
of the laziest, such a contradiction.
We truly wish we had more time. More time to talk, laugh, share our weekly drama whether good or bad,
get in more hugs, more prayers, more time to stare at your infectious smile and most of all, share one
more dance but God had other plans.
Enya, you have imprinted on our hearts. Although we will be sad and broken for a while, we have found
comfort knowing you will be with us forever because you ensured your heart was with God. Keep dancing
and looking down on us. Until we dance again.
Dance Ministry
Kayeann, you are not just a Mother, a Friend, a Sister, a member, you are the one who gives ALL she can
no matter what the cost. You always seemed to have all the time in the world to share, to care and only
God knows how you were able to give so much to your children. In this ministry you have proven yourself
committed and devoted time and time again; always on time, always filling in, week after week never
complaining - It’s like you are always on duty.
Here now is our opportunity to share, care and give to YOU! To fill in for YOU, to show up for YOU,
to cover for YOU, to make YOU feel like we have ALL the time in the world to ensure that you remain
solid, rooted, and grounded in faith and love. We cannot take your pain away, we cannot replace what you
have lost, but we can support you through it all, and just like an offering bag, we extend blessings and pass
on LOVE in its richest abundance.
A line from one of Michael Jackson’s popular songs states, “Like a comet blazing across the evening sky
gone too soon”. Yes, that is how we feel but if we can put our grief aside for a minute we can speak our
truth - the truth. Enya came, saw and she conquered!
Enya’s accomplishments in her relatively short life are way more than some of us will ever accomplish.
She touched many lives by the way that she lived her life. Enya was not a ‘bystander’ in life, she was an
active participant.
Whatever she was called on to do she did, and she did it well. Ebony Vale Baptist Church was an integral
part of her development. Her mother ensured that she was brought up in church and Enya had the
willingness to stay in the church.
Although we mourn her passing, we realise that Enya was an angel that was loaned to us by God. God
had a purpose for her life, and she fulfilled her purpose. Her life was exemplary in the community, the
church and at school. Due to the way that she lived her life others are now inspired to be better persons.
The Lord decided that His angel has fulfilled His mandate and He has called her home. Enya, we love
you, we will always love you and we miss you.
Rest well angel.
When your tears flow, your fears grow. When the ocean rises, your feet get tired, shoulders get tight,
tummy burns and memories flood your soul. We might not have words adequate to soothe your pain, but
be assured of our prayers, thoughts, and tangible support. We will be there for you. Our God is fighting
for you and day by day he is carrying you through. His faithfulness never fails and will continue to cover
and comfort you. Be encouraged and stay strong.
Your beautiful smile will forever be in our
hearts, and not a day will go by without you in
our thoughts.
You were always willing to give a helpful hand,
carrying out the church’s duties and our
Saviour’s plan. You would brighten up a room
with your charming demeanour and captivate
those around you with your childish and
playful behaviour.
Enya, there is no doubt that we will always miss
you, but we know you are resting in the sweet
arms of our maker.
Until we meet again on that sweet day, our
little princess, you have gained your wings and
it is now time for you to rest.
Continue to sleep in peace our beautiful young
angel, heaven has certainly gained a gem.
We love you but God loves you more.
Remember that your brothers and sisters
share your pain. I personally know that pain,
we have hugged and shared this experience
together. I will always be there for you. Time
heals, it healed me, and it will do the same
for you too. After this suffering for a while,
God will restore, support, and strengthen
you and will place you on a firm foundation.
Hold on to your faith in God and you will be
strengthened by it. I cannot tell you how to
go through this, find your own way through
God. This is what I did, and it works. We love
you always and you will soon be miss, busy
A quiet but humble young lady. Enya was my daughter and granddaughter in one. Sandreen was like a
mother hen caring and protective of her. When she was in our home, I would have to call out her name
to see if she was really there. Dimi, I hope you do not feel left out as you are always a part of us. Steve
would always come in from work and ask, “Little one, are you here? Did you eat?” He never treated
her differently from his other girls. He would fuss about her not eating just as he would have done
Sandreen and Sheniel.
I remember coming in one evening from work and she said, “Aunty Erica I cook. You want dinner?” I felt
so good hearing that from her, and we ran our little joke about her knowing how to cook, and she said
“Yuh think I can’t cook. I cook all the while at home.” Those memories and the ones of her dancing
at church will forever be etched in my mind. Thank you Kayeann for sharing your daughter with us.
A flower has been plucked from the garden on earth, but I know you will be brighter and stronger flower
watching over us.
Sleep
on little one and take your rest from all the pains.
“She likkle but she tallawah’ A Jamaican proverb that aptly describes Sis Enya English – she was
small in physical stature, yet she accomplished anything that she set her mind to do. We reflect on
Enya as a stalwart and a pillar of the EVBC Family Bible Hour (Sunday School) – Youth class. Her
accomplishments were numerous as she passed several Sunday School examinations and her most
recent accomplishment at FBH was being successful in the Jamaica Baptist Union Quiz Competition
for EVBC in 2021. Sis Enya was very competitive - her journey to success in the quiz competition and
the examinations was based on her determination and her tenacity. Her FBH teachers can recall that
although Enya was studying for her academic exams, like many of her peers, she was determined to
participate in the FBH quiz - she requested additional practice questions and reviewed the study material
with a seriousness of purpose. She was commended for her efforts at the FBH Anniversary service.
Her FBH teachers can recall her willingness to always participate in the activities of the FBH class –
whether reading the scripture – she knew her Bible well as she was always among the first to find the
relevant passages ahead of her peers in the class. She was the first to complete the exercises in the
Sunday School book or to write/draw on the blackboard or to act out a part. She would be encouraging
her peers to participate and was a true example for us all.
Sometimes Sis Enya got a little distracted in the class as some sidebar conversations would occur with
her fellow classmates. But she was so obedient and apologetic and would quickly follow the instructions
of her teachers, a testament of good home training.
We appreciated Sis Enya not only for her contribution to FBH but, on a personal level, when she would
send a text to console in grief or to offer congratulations for success. Enya was an example for us all
– she achieved many awards in her very short life, which provided motivation for us all to stick to and
complete the task at hand. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour was real and was reflected in
how she conducted herself and her attitude to life. We thank her for the life lessons she has taught us,
and we resolve to continue her legacy of unshakeable faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.
Did you know Enya English?
She was Pretty, polite, pleasant and stylish.
A charming Christian and willing participant in assisting with church activities;
She was never hesitant.
Such a good team player with a curious mind,
Kind-hearted and well-spoken, she was one of a kind.
Enya
She was our daughter...
She was a go getter, spoke her mind with respect, knew what she wanted. She was willing to try and was
always helping others in class.
ENYA
Ever ready, energetic, electrifying
Never nonchalant,
Yes, I will do it, yes, I will try
Attitude right and with purpose.
Gone too soon…thank you Lord for allowing her to touch our lives in her eighteen years. We know her
purpose was fulfilled, as she had completed her assignments.
Watching you walking across the platform, regally adorned in your cap and gown with your degree in
hand as you graduate from University. Blowing bubbles at you as you waltz down the aisle with your
handsome groom on your wedding day. Playing silly games at your baby shower as we anticipate the birth
of the child you and your husband are entrusted with. These are just a few of the dreams and aspirations
we anticipated sharing with you as we watched you blossomed from the gangly legged little girl into a
gorgeous young woman. Instead, we were blessed with your always beautiful, but cheeky smile that gave
the impression you had just played a trick on someone and was enjoying a silent joke. We were blessed
with your never-ending hugs that exuberated pure warmth and love, your fiery personality when you
argued your points and your graceful dance moves as you were swayed by the rhythms of reggae, soul,
calypso and hip hop. How can we forget your athletic prowess, as you maneuvered the hurdles on the
track, and most of all, your passionate love for the Lord and your committed service to His people.
Are these memories enough to compensate for those we will not get to experience? Yes!! The truth
is, those seemingly few years we had with you, a reality that we sometimes still find so hard to accept,
have provided us with a lifetime of memories. Thank you for being such a wonderful and special part of
our lives ENYA. We will truly miss you. You have your wings little angel, wear your crown with pride and
continue to dance with the angels in heaven until we meet on that great homecoming day.
Sophia and Rae-Anna
A radiant smile, an infectious laugh, a pleasant voice. Beautiful dancing feet, an honest unfiltered
enquiring mind, all these and so much more embodied our earth Angel who impacted everyone she came
in contact with. From that first solo dance I watched you “Oh freedom - Over me” an Energizer Bunny.
I will never forget that last time I saw you telling me I should be preaching. My commitment to you is to
let my life be a living Bible. Walk good.
Shereen Bennett
Enya, a name I never thought I’d speak
of under circumstances as this. One of
the bravest souls I ever came across on
the dance team. Always willing to try
something new even if she knew she’d
look funny, to the extent of laughing at
herself and still trying to fix what needed
to be. There is a saying I quote, “if you
love me, better you tell me now, don’t
bother waiting till later, when I’m gone,
you’re scattering roses”, and this was a
chance I never got to take. You will always
be my memory of great times, the years I
got to spend with you as an acquaintance,
a friend and those heart-to-heart
conversations we would randomly have,
are all the things I’ll have to keep in a box
of memories that you and I created.
For me, it’s never a goodbye, but see you
soon, on to a greater life as you remain in
our hearts.
Until we meet again, bright beautiful soul.
Brittany
My dearest Enya, you were always full
of light and a ball of happiness. Not to
mention one who would always give
trouble, because that’s one characteristic
that made you so lovable and cherished.
You were never the person to pass me
without screaming my name “Spesh”
followed by a warm hug and then proceed
to ask me when I can bring you out, then
eventually we would start talking about
silly things until we burst out laughing like
we are in a comedy show. You have most
definitely touched the hearts of many by
just being yourself. I wish I could have said
goodbye, but looking back I don’t think I’d
be able to, instead I’d want to slow time
down just so you could be with us today. I
would have made the moments last much
longer. Your smile is like the stars and the
moon, brightening up the night sky and I
will never forget it. Though I’m missing you
I’ll find a way to get through. I hope your
dancing in the sky.
My dear ENYA, it pains my heart just
to write this. I really don’t know what to
say because I still can’t believe you’re
gone. This I know for sure it was a
pleasure to know you for the 18 years
God lent you to us! I guess heaven
needs you more than here. It was such
a joy to dance, sing, and sign with you!
I know for sure you’re continuing to do
the same in Heaven, dancing, singing and
singing with the angels. Enya, we miss
and love you! You will always be in our
heart. Until we meet again my dear!
Enya was an angel sent from God. Enya was a true
natural child, she had a mouth, yes, but she was
always respectful to her elders. She would say what
was on her mind. That was how Enya was. She didn’t
take nonsense. Her belief was in God, and she was
keeping it real. That’s how she was until the day she
left us. All young people should take a leaf from
Enya’s book, and they should try to emulate her life
as she lived, do the things she did, and come out
looking really good like her. May God continue to
take care of my baby.
Yvonne Campbell
Enya, your memories live on. They live on past your name and past the roles. They live on based on the
people you’ve touched, the hearts you have blessed and the lessons you’ve taught. They live on past the
troubles you’ve faced. The slippers you’ve dodged. It lives on through the memories of your laughs and
the ministry of your dance. They live on through the words you’ve spoken in times of chaos that soothed
the atmosphere, the hugs you’ve given and the helping hands you have stretched out. Your memory lives
on through the listening ear you’ve always lent. It lives through your understanding and the words you
share to solve problems. It lives through the memories of the good times and bad times. I thank you for
sharing your time with me.
Dear Kayeann, Dimitri and Paul, words cannot express how painful this loss is. When I looked down
memory lane and saw that fine, sweet, and graceful soul of Enya moving around, surely a gesture I will
never forget. All along I prayed to God to send us his Guardian Angel to walk with us on earth, not
knowing that Enya was indeed one of those Angels. She has graced us with her strength, confidence,
growth and a ray of sunshine when performing on the big stage. She displayed to me a true child of
God. Hey baby girl, tell me how heaven looks. Someday we will gather again in Gods kingdom. I love you
Kayeann, Dimitri and Paul and the rest of the family I am praying for you.
Treshanna Watson
Enya, the only thing that we have to hold on to, in order to cope
with the fact that you are no longer with us, is that we are sure
that you have gone to be with our Saviour. We can just imagine
when he sees your beautiful smile, how he will welcome you into
his bosom. Although we will miss that radiant smile, brisk walk,
humbleness and your devoted participation in different areas of
the church’s ministries, and the tears that we cry may not stop
for now, just know that we know, that you are now in a better
place. We love you little Enya and may you continue to sleep in
eternal peace
This news shocked everyone, Enya. We knew the plans you had but sometimes our plans do not align with
God’s plan, and it hurts sometimes, but we trust God. You are going to be missed literally forever. You
were not only Dimitri’s little sister, but you were also all of us’ little sister. You would always congratulate
me on my achievements, and I always tried to match you by congratulating you whenever you won. You
always won Enya, you always won! I remembered I told Dimi that for every pass you got in “CSEC”
I would reward you, and you did almost make me go broke because you did so great. Heaven won, an
Angel Enya. You were a gem to everyone that knew you.
Love you and miss you Lil’ sis. You made us all proud the short time God lent you to us!
The journey of your life was filled with
laughter. There’s no regret until the smile
you blessed us with suddenly fades from
our lives. We will never say goodbye and it
broke my heart to lose you, no one will ever
know. You will not go alone, a part of me
went with you. Even though you are out of
sight, you are always on my mind.
Love you always my dear Enya
Marge
Enya, you are not here, but your presence
and warm smile lingers in the shadows. I
will always remember your laughter and see
you dancing when I think of you. You have
left a void in my heart, as if you were my
biological daughter. Rest in peace.
A beautiful soul gone too soon.
My heart cannot express the way I feel,
and my mind refuses to accept that
you’re no longer here with me. The fact
that you don’t easily open yourself to
those you hardly know, anyone who sees
you could see a humble soul. I cannot tell
when this emptiness inside will go, but
until then my child, I will hold on to the
memories we shared and the smiles I will
have each time I think of you. For I know
in the arms of your Saviour your soul will
dwell; so farewell until we see each other
again.
Enya, you were like sunshine because you had a smile that you always wore so gracefully.
Though you were young, you lived with the wisdom God had blessed you with at such a young age. I have
never seen or heard of you doing anything of ill report. You were young but you still answered the call of
God. “Who will go and work for me today?” You responded, “Here l am O Lord, send me.”
You left us very unprepared for your absence. Reminders of you will be ever present because you were a
blessing to everyone around you. Yes Enya, you are still teaching us to overcome challenges with a smile.
No one can take your place in this chapter of life. We can only move on with the memories of joy and
peace you left with us. You will carry on in the hearts of those you left behind.
We will miss you Enya. The memories of you remain in our hearts. May your soul rest in peace.
I remember one year while teaching
Sunday school we were preparing for our
yearly youth exams, the group we had was
small but Enya was always enthused about
the next pop quiz I was gonna give them.
She would always want me to mark the test
quickly as she wanted to know if she passed
and if she was ready for the exam to come.
She was always willing to help and always
made whomever in her presence laugh.
There was never a dull moment around her.
You will be forever loved and missed. Rest
in the arms of our Saviour.
Sweet girl Enya, what can I say? I miss
you so much it hurts. You are one of the
sweetest people I ever met with that
radiant smile that lights up every dark room
and those warm hugs that signify love and
comfort. You were such a brilliant, smart,
dedicated, ambitious, playful, and happy
girl. It was a pleasure having you around and
to have met you. Attending church and not
seeing you is gonna be hard. Your memory
will surely live on. Heaven surely gained an
Angel, and there’s always gonna be a place
in my heart for you baby girl. We love you
but God loves you best.
Tribute to an Angel in Heaven
To an angel up in heaven, I want you to know I feel you watching over your mother, brother, and friends
everywhere you go.
Enya, I thought you would have stayed with us longer. But it was never to be, memories of you in my
heart that I can only see.
Our angel up in heaven I hope you understand that I would give anything if I could hold your hand. I
would hold it tightly and never let go and all the love inside of me to you I would show.
Our angel Enya up in heaven for now we are apart you will always live inside of me deep withing my
heart. A precious gem. Love you always, Enya.
Andrew Martin
As I recall the words of Enya’s career objective on her resume that she shared with me, I can truly say
she was outstanding. She had major plans for her life and also the potential to achieve all of them. In my
brief encounters with Enya, through the Youth Summer Employment Program that is hosted by my
workplace, I was touched by her animated accounts of what happens when she goes out to collect the
data. I still laugh when I remember her story about being chased by a cow but still, she pressed on with
her work. She had great work ethics, even at this young age, and she was top of my list for this year’s
summer program which she unfortunately was not able to participate in. Enya left her mark in this world
because she was an amazing human being that was raised by an amazing mother with strong values. I will
always remember her in that regard. Rest well Enya, you did your part.
Missing You
06|09|2022
for E.E.E.
Numb is my heart,
Not knowing how to start;
I am broken in pain
Not by stone...
For if you hit me now,
There’d be no feeling in any of my bones —
You have left us in disarray,
Gone never to smile another day…
I wish I could have asked you to stay,
To shine your light and have strength to play.
Forgotten is what you’ll never be,
Not knowing how to imagine
You not, being beside me…
So much joy you bought,
A peace to my busy soul,
Just one more chance,
I’d love to have you to hold.
You were My Princess, a name you received with so much joy. I can’t
remember the very first time you stayed over but I remember I never
wanted you to stop. I remember one week I invited you over because I
missed you SOO MUCH! In my selfishness of wanting, you with me
it never occurred to me that was one of the emptiest weeks at home,
barely any food, no one had money for groceries but you never grimaced,
as I put things together for you to eat, giving you small portions because
that’s what we had it wasn’t til after you left it was brought to my
attention how absent-minded I was by bringing you over without proper
accommodation. I ALWAYS WANTED YOU WITH ME!
There are SO MANY secrets we share, so many times you’ve scolded
even me for my actions. And no matter what you could get me staying
up with you @2am [and then waking me at 5am cause you had to be at
school early, and insisted we travelled together] studying the night before
a test or exam even when you spent 4 days just relaxing because you said
being with us made you feel safe and happy. {the days you were here, were
the earliest I was at work}
I will miss you showing your love in hidden ways, the portrait you made
for me was the DEAREST gift I’ve ever received. You told me how
beautiful I was and how much you wanted me to remember that. My
Princess, no matter how many pleadings I had to do with you to talk to
me when you’d prefer to be silent, to eat even when you weren’t hungry,
to be honest about a situation if you were afraid of the outcome, to be
gentler with a few people because not everyone understands how you
love. I WOULD DO IT ALL AGAIN .
Thank you for choosing me. Though a part of me is gone with you,
I breathe only because I know you would want me to.
Sandreen, your confidant.
My mentee, Enya English (as I loved to say...Enya Patois), because you perfected the patois so well, I
still can’t understand how your surname was English. I will never forget your early years visiting me at the
church office, begging for a rubber band or two, begging for a paper clip and how you used to giggle and
touch just about everything. I miss you so much; words cannot express. God had placed His special stamp
of approval on her life....in 18 years and 10 months. She ran the race, kept the faith and completed the
task set out for her. God has called another angel home. May the Lord comfort our hearts as we mourn
such a significant loss.
Gone but will NEVER be Forgotten
Enya,
I have cried and stopped and had the cycle on repeat for days before I could pen this. I am honestly at such a loss for words.
I have never considered saying goodbye to any of my children. My heart is broken, manifested physically by a constant
ache that refuses to leave my chest. Thank you for allowing me to love you and loving me in return. I am grateful to have
spoken with you every day in the last eight days before your transition. That’s what I choose to call it because I know that
for those of us who believe in Christ, earth is but a rehearsal for eternity. I’m thankful to have said I love you each time we
spoke. My heart burns with regret at that last call when Kayeann put the phone to your ears. Selfishly, though you were not
in a position to speak, I wish I could have kept talking to you longer. Oh, Enya, how I love you.
I recall Kayeann coming with you as a toddler to church, glimpses of you in your Basic school uniform, but more intensely,
I reflect on 12-plus years of you in my life, and I smile, and I wince. You were my Toothpick, not only because you were
the tiniest of them all, but because despite your size, you could be sharp and piercing and ensured your mark was felt. In
summary, “Likkle pickney yu gi talking enuh!” But, oh, how I love you.
When we would meet for dance practice in a group of sometimes 30 or more, there was a high-pitched voice above the
noise. I would simply have to peer over heads and follow the sound. Behind the bellow would be a small frame giving out
a sharp correction to others (who were more than likely older), a performance theater in which you were the storyteller
sharing your latest adventures, and at times, the path to your voice was defiance of instructions. You were never rude but
strong-willed and determined. As you grew older, that firm will became one of your most admirable characteristics. You
never gave up on your faith, even as you watched others go astray. You, my child, knew your path and refused to follow the
crowd. “Yah good girl, man.” For that, I love you.
I smile in admiration when I recall one of my first phone conversations with you outside of dance. Your curious mind at just
six intrigued me. “Aunty, wish part yu deh?” My response was, “work.” “Suh yu guh every day?” And before I could answer,
there were several other questions. You didn’t let the conversation end there but followed up that Saturday with more
questions - what type of work, whether I liked it and how much I got paid? “Likkle gal yu did faas.” But, oh, how I love you.
You were never afraid at any age to challenge me and came to every practice (and I meant every practice, for you were
rarely ever absent) with a perpetual, “why?” I wince as I remember finalizing the choreography for our pastor’s farewell
in 2013. You were the youngest selected to minister at this ‘high-profile’ event, with the Governor General’s wife in
attendance. As we rounded out the last rehearsal and executed the end of the song with a bow, in the solemness of the
moment, you broke the formation, turned, folded your hand and yelled, “a wish part im ago siddung, cause mi nah bow to
nuh man, only God.” Though stunned, I quickly had to assess whether our direction made sense. On another occasion, I
remember accompanying you to purchase uniforms at Merl Grove and telling the lady in the bookshop a specific number
to which you promptly interjected, “Aunty, how yu fi a take four and a five day inna the week?” causing the entire room
to break out in laughter and me slightly embarrassed, having to revise the order. “Pickney, yu never ramp fix mi up.” It will
never stop my love for you.
You knew how to tug at my heartstrings. I will never forget the day of your baptism when at 10, your testimony made us
all cry. It was also the often sly smile, the wait until I would walk to the car, the random call at work, or while I was driving
home. Equally, you knew how to push my buttons. Regardless of my anger, you would just be silent and ignore me. As you
grew older, you would make those periods of ignoring me last longer, and I know you knew that hurt me more than a feisty
answer. But I also learned how to push yours, and when I upset you, you occasionally would report me to Kayeann who
sometimes had to play referee. I would often smile at the fact that you cared enough to complain. And I know you cared…
”Coulda gwaan like yu tough.” Oh, Enya, I love you.
I could tell stories for days, but I will remember you and those rashes every time I see a mango. I will never hear about
crabs, breasts, pass the bus stop at Merl Grove, see a pack of Milo, hear the word patty, or hear “a tru yu nuh know,” and be
able to hold a straight face. I will miss your stories about Abby, Joel and Yassi and your many “nah talk to Brianna” episodes
(90% of which you could never recall how it started). I will miss how you called Kayeann - “mommy” (“ah dat mi a tell
mommy” “mommy love cook e food too early” “mommy mi nuh waan dat” “mommy falla mi nuh”) and hearing you brag
about your older brother Dimi (though often in his absence). I will miss your facial expressions, loud laughs, and your refusal
to speak English (and the irony of how that belies your last name). I will miss the art you brought to storytelling and how
through it, you taught us how to laugh with you and laugh at ourselves. I will miss celebrating your many accomplishments
and accolades (especially the Accounting Auditing Firm you and Dimi would open). “Enya, yu mek mi proud enuh. Proud
buck!” My beauty and brains, I love you.
Most of all, Enya, I will miss having you here.
Community
and Friends
Peace be with y’all. Enya was more than a
friend. She was more like a daughter to me.
Very respectful, calm, and wise young lady.
She’s not the type to be seen on the road
unless she is going or coming from school.
The little time you’ll see her is when she
goes to the shop, which she doesn’t even do
much. Enya was very polite and intelligent
and filled with manners, so I really miss
picking her up early in the mornings for
her to catch the bus to get to school and
sometimes when I’m unable to, I feel so
bad because I knew she feels safer and
more comfortable with me taking her to
and from. I really miss her and her happy
face and smile because truly she was just a
humble young lady and if everyone treats
and grow their children the way Kayeann
aka Kay does, the place will be filled with
wonderful children. But Enya will always be
remembered, always in my memory. Rest
in paradise young, Enya.
Enya was a brilliant light in the world. She
leaves permanent footprints in our heart.
We celebrate ENYA’s legacy every day.
The lovely bud, so young, so fair
Called off by earthly doom
Just came to show how sweet a flower in
paradise could bloom
What though death at times steps in
And call our best away
And sorrow seems to win over a heavy sway
Leave for her a red young rose
Go your way and save your pity
She is happy for she knows
That her dust is very pretty
Sleep our little angel
Here so briefly
Our bright light
The sunshine of our heart
I want to extend my condolences to the family. I’m deeply saddened to hear of Enya’s passing. When
I heard I was saddened and heartbroken. Enya was an angel in human form. She was warmhearted,
beautiful and an ambitious individual and I was honored to know her. She will be missed but will live on
in all the minds of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Someone special can never be forgotten.
Happy times I could never regret, and wonderful memories will live on forever in our hearts. May she rest
in eternal peace. My deepest sympathies go out to the family during this difficult time. Stay strong. May
tender memories soften your grief, may you find comfort and peace in the thought of joy that knowing
your loved one brought.
Gary Sappleton
Enya, she was educated, nice, young, and
adorable. When you saw her, she’d greet
you with a smile. She was quiet sometimes;
you’d wonder does she know the word
trouble? I saw someone focused, she was a
young lady who was going somewhere, she
was a rare kind of flower in a garden, you
would have to notice, we got her for a short
time, but she’ll always be remembered.
Sleep sweet Enya.
Ever since you went away the days go
slowly by and the hardest thing to cope
with is never knowing why.
Some days the sadness leaves me.
Some days I just can’t understand the
reason you’re not here.
But I’ve learned that those we love never
go away. They walk beside us every day.
Life and death hold mysteries but one thing
for sure, I loved you then, I love you now
and will forevermore.
Enya will always be remembered as a very jovial person and a person with a bright smile. She was very
good at Debating, the game “French” and Golfing. Enya is such a caring, loving, and very dedicated to
accomplishing her goals and making her family proud. You were loved and will be missed by many Enya.
Rest In Peace.
Enya you were such a beautiful soul, and you are forever in our memory and our hearts. May peace be
with you. We’ll meet again but until then, fly high with all God’s angel.
From,
It pains a lot when we heard the news that you’re no longer here with us. You were a kind and loving soul
Enya. Even in your pain, you still find the time to help out others. You were a fighter. You may be gone
from our sight but not from our hearts... We love you Enya... Rest in peace...
Enya is a daughter of the community. She was a gift from God to us. She’s always laughing, and she is a
no nonsense person outspoken and very encouraging with a bundle of ambition. I am so blessed to have
When I am gone
Release me and let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years
I gave you my love and you can only guess
How much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love you have shown
But now it’s time I travelled on alone
But grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust
It’s only for a while that we must part
So bless the memories while in your heart
I won’t be far away, for life goes on
So, if you need me, call and I will come
Though you can’t see me or touch me, I’ll
be near
And if you listen with your heart
You’ll hear all my love around you soft
and clear
And then when you must come this
way alone
I’ll greet you with a smile and say,
welcome home
From, Carolyn and Kedean
Your life was a blessing, your memory was
a treasure, you are loved beyond words and
missed beyond measure Enya. I really do
miss you Enya, our times at Golf and our time
bonding together. I’m still trying to come
to the fact that you’re not here with me/us
anymore. When you left, you gained new
wings. I was heartbroken at losing you, but
you were needed more in heaven. The worst
emotion is having to miss someone that’s no
longer with you. I miss you badly, but I know
you’re in a better place. I Love you so much
Enya baby.
Tashie Gazader
I’ve known Enya for about 15 years. I first came across her at friendship primary school track & field
training where my little brother was a part of the track team a couple of years ago. Down the line,
although she lived in the community, we didn’t frankly exchange words at the time. Years later blew
out and I found myself playing football in the surroundings where she lived with most of my friends and
some of her cousins. Sometimes her mom would join in the fun of the game also. But when Enya would
come on the field it would be a game of laughter and excitement lol! Someone would tell her to pass
the ball, she would kick it as hard as she can with her big toe lol. She would sometimes run away from
the opposition who’s coming in with a tackle. We would sometimes get angry with her but at the end of
the day, it’s just a game of enjoyment and exercise and it wasn’t a dull moment when she’s on the field.
During my years of working with her uncle (Boogie), she would sometimes ask him to come to work with
him in a joking way but trust me she was serious about it. Boogie would take it for a joke, but one day he
gave her a chance to come to work and she did mean business. She helped out a lot, but she would ask
a lot of questions. The one that had everyone laughing is when she asked Boogie, “Wah time we aguh
eat lunch?” Boogie himself wasn’t in a good mood that day, but what she said and how she said it made
everybody in the van start laughing that day. Enya was curious, fearless, and funny. I can still remember
the last time I saw her. I was making fun of her asking her if she wasn’t gonna grow and she would laugh
and smile and she asked me if I had left the country because she hasn’t caught sight of me in a long while.
She was such a meek soul with admirable intellect. I am sorry to say may her soul dance in heavenly
peace. The life of the one we love is never lost. Its influence goes on through all the lives it ever touches.
Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means I’ll miss you until we meet again.
Your friend, Sterling/rahyme.
MY DEAR Eyna, if tears could build a stairway and memories were land, we would walk right up to
heaven and bring u back again, no farewell words were spoken, no time to say goodbye you were gone
before we knew it and only God know why. Enya you were stronger than you know, braver than you
believe and smarter than you think and loved more than you know. You will never be forgotten. Sleep
well sweet girl.
Prayer for Kayeann
Father God, I pray you will guard her heart and mind against the lies of the enemy and unintentionally
harmful comments from others who haven’t walked in her shoes and don’t understand the grief she’s
feeling. Father, you are the God of all comfort, please comfort her heart right now. You will be the lifter
of her head; you will remind her how very much she and her precious children are loved and will you tend
to the desires of her heart. We know that your word says, you love to lavish good gifts on your children;
lavish your love on her today. God heal the hurt and wound she feels. Do not let Kayeann’s pain go
in vain.
AMEN
Nicole Roland Aka Nikki
Hey Enya,
Just cannot believe that you’re gone. When I
first heard of what happened, I just couldn’t
believe, and I refuse to believe. It was like
yesterday when you were here at my house
sleeping over, I could hear your laughter
and you enjoying yourself. I could see all of
that on you growing into a beautiful young
lady. You had so much going on for you, and
then it was all taken away, but I know that
you’re gonna gain a lot where ever you go. I
am so proud of you girl and all that you have
achieved. I know your mom is very proud of
you too. I know your mom loves you, and we
all love you too.
Enya! I am going to miss you girl, I really am.
I am going to miss seeing you passing the
gate.
Life is out there waiting on you sweet angel,
and it is going to be beautiful out there,
because you have a beautiful soul. So, take
care until I see you again.
Some people come into our lives and leave
a footprint on our hearts, and we are never
ever the same. You were one of those
persons Enya. You will never really know the
true impact you have on those around you.
Death is painful, however death taking a
precious jewel like you is more painful. You
were a young lady with a good heart who
cared so much about friends and family.
You contributed to the development of
every single person you met on your path
and never ceased to be an inspiration to all.
You were without a doubt a great person.
You were intelligent, discerning, attentive,
and full of knowledge. You showed so much
compassion and displayed a lot of humility.
So much, that everyone of use seeks to
emulate you. Your loving memory will ever
remain a monument in our hearts.
Enya, my happiness, my joy, wish you didn’t have to go so early. I wish that I could tell you I’m not ready
to let you go. But you’ve already departed, and my heart is feeling so low. I miss that little twinkle that
used to light up your eyes. And I miss the sound of your voice, your laughter, and your sighs. But most
of all, I miss the way you made me feel. There are others here who miss you and they’ve gathered here
today. Your life touched so many people who became your friends along the way. They want you to know
they love you too And they’re filled with sadness and grief. No one really wants to say goodbye So we’ll
just wish you eternal peace.
When I lost you, her mother would say. I wish I could see you one more time, Come walking through the
MOTHER KAYEANN DORMER
She would wish to say to my mother. I know you can feel my tears and you don’t want me to cry, Yet, my
heart is broken because I can’t understand why someone so precious had to die. I pray that God will give
me strength and somehow get me through
As I struggle with the heartache. That came when I lost you.
ENYA ELISSA ENGLISH
She would wish to say to my brother, Dimitri English don’t cry for me I will be okay I am where I belong.
I want you to be happy and try to stay strong. Don’t cry for me it was just my time for I didn’t have no
fear, God take away all my pain it’s gone, Jesus took my tears. Please don’t cry for me.
ENYA ELISSA ENGLISH
She would wish to say to father Paul English please don’t cry for me daddy. I know that you loved me
with all of your heart and that none of you wanted me to depart. I don’t quite understand it myself. But I
know you’ll get by with a little help.
ENYA ELISSA ENGLISH
she would wish to say to your mother.
If I could come back for just one day
I know exactly what I would say.
To my mother, yes I would say to be sad for a day and to do what you need to do. And then lift up your
eyes to the wonder of the sky and know that I love you too.
ENYA ELISSA ENGLISH
She would wish to say to family and friends. If I could come back for just one day. I know exactly what
I would say to you my family and friends and those who I loved as a message for God who speaks from
above. I would say it’s okay to be sad for a while. But what I really want most is to see your smile And for
you to go on live once again. Allowing the lord to comfort your pain.
ENYA ELISSA ENGLISH
Would wish to leave these few words to you all. When tomorrow starts without me and I’m not there to
see. If the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me I wish so much you wouldn’t cry
the way you did today. While thinking of the many things. We didn’t get to say I know how much you
love me. As much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you’ll miss me too. When
tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart. For every time you think of me, I’m right here in
your heart. This is for you family and friends. Acts 2:38 Repent and be baptized every one of you in the
name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:11
The first time I saw this child it was her smile that got my attention. I asked, whose child is that and was
asked you don’t know Kayeann? And my response was yes, and I was told that’s Kayeann’s daughter.
From then, onward if I don’t remember her name, I would address her as Kayeann daughter to which
she would answer, “Yes, Ms. Joan” and a smile. Anyone who knew her and interacted with her could see
she was destined for greatness (a productive and blooming tree whose growth was cut short). She was a
respectful, intelligent, multi-talented, jovial but yet quiet young miss. Rest well Princess. God needed a
My memory of Enya is her love for playing
ENYA is intelligent, smart, she’s always
Zowie
Enya was a kind-hearted, quiet, and genuine person. Whenever she’s home or not, you never can know
because she is always inside if she’s not at school or church. She was a very smart girl who was really
dedicated to her books and church, and that was something I admire as her neighbor. Such a pleasant girl.
She was always smiling. Whenever I am washing, I could always call on her to give me some water from
the pipe. Sometimes I would ask “Enya u tyad a mi?” Then she would smile and say, “no, mi nuh tyad,
dat good man.” That’s how reliable she was. I knew she would have been a success story, God took her
because he had greater plans for her. So, yes, we do miss her a lot, but heaven was needing an angel, and
Enya, that’s you. Gone, but will never be forgotten. Fly high Enya, may your soul rest in peace.
A flower was planted, watered with love, started to grow as a little sprout, nourished, cared for and
blossom, was just about to produce the greatest sweetest flower. Enya was just a little flower bud in the
prime of her life. She will be remembered for her pleasant smile, mild manner, discipline, loving child of
God, always encouraging and supporting. Enya was one child that was all about her education, she always
excels at whatever she does.
As a child growing up, she was always holding on to her mother and Dimitri her brother could do no
wrong, she just loves him above and beyond. I remember the last time we saw her on July 8, 2022, she
supported my daughter’s Pizza Sale, she was the prettiest little flower one could ever see, I said, “Hey
Enya you are truly a beauty.” She smiled and said, “Aunty I took my picture package today.” She looked
so radiant and with her sweet voice said, “Thanks, Aunty.”
On July 19th, Kayeann sent me a voice message to pray for Enya. She explained that Enya wasn’t well,
and you know I petition heaven on her behalf. A few days later I was told Enya was feeling a little better.
I was truly grateful to God. Only to find out she took ill again. I was called again and this time she was
admitted in the hospital I prayed so hard, I plea, I beg God and just cry out my heart to God as a mother.
Enya was just a different kind of person, never quit, never give up, always giving God glory. I will always
love Enya as my very own. Let us remember Enya as the beautiful flower that she truly was. Enya from
Kenya that was the name Judith called her and of course we did the same.
E is for Everlasting Daisy one of the best flowers that ever bloomed.
N is for Nigella, a flower called love in the mist, a beautiful pink rose.
Y is for yellow archangel, a beautiful yellow flower.
A is for Angel’s Trumpet, which blooms September to November.
These beautiful flowers depict a beautiful garden that was truly what ENYA’s life embody. She will always
be remembered as a garden made by God which in its season, picked with the hand of God. Sleep on
sweet flower, you will truly be missed. Heaven sent for you, but your life was well spent.
To her mother, Kayeann, you are indeed a great Warrior. Keep praising God. My mother always say
Kayeann is my daughter, and she is a blessing to all.
To her brother Dimi, keep trusting God. You have come this far by faith and your best is yet to come.
To her Grandma Aunty Polly, trust God my dear. Please turn your eyes upon Jesus, he is your only
source.
To the rest of the family, trust God. Believe that God has allowed this to be a wakeup call to the family.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let
not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
God bless you all.
Our Questionnaire
This is not just questions for you are God, but questions to the entire universe and mother nature itself.
We ask, why such a beautiful and pure soul? Why this contagious smile? Better yet why Auntie Kayeann
and Paul’s only girl child?
We often have to remind ourselves that we are on a new journey that requires our utmost strength in
order to stay focused.
Enya, we promise you that we will never leave her side and we are now committed to her now more than
ever. At least we know that will keep you smiling whenever you look down on us.
The silence is deafening not hearing your random laugh, not smelling fries being air fried in the kitchen.
Can someone, anyone, seriously provide answers for the purpose of our healing and mental stability?
Let me answer for you all, NO! You can’t and you never will. This is very, very unfair.
Rest in Heaven to the most beautiful soul I know.
Dear lord please take care of my little Enya
for me yes, the one with big eyes and short
black hair. I can remember she used to ask
me for things when she needed it. Now
there is no need that she is with you, so let
her know that she is special as you already
know, she touched the hearts of everyone
she knows. God tell her that letting her go
is so hard, make her know that I can still
remember her smile, it could brighten up
the darkest room. I just wish you didn’t
have to take her so soon; God make Enya
who do I text now that you have taken her
home?
fi tell we seh wi cyaan wear finals jersey.” That day I
took a million pictures just because Enya wanted me
to remember this milestone of our life. Thanks for
being the best training partner and friend I could ask
for Enya. I hope you knew how much we loved and
appreciated you.
Enya my G still can’t believe you’re
gone. Cannot lie, you are always
laughing, always at school beating
we at the game French. There are so
many other things to say but I just
want you to know that we miss you
and the whole L.O.E love you. Enya
always helped me with my school work
and encouraged me to be successful
L.O.E. Family
Jah know star, more time you take for granted all the time you spend with your friend them, now them
gone. Enya never have I imagined that a day would come when I’m here writing you this tribute. Over
the years I’ve known you, you’ve become more of a family than a friend. The news hit me and put me in a
state of disbelief because you’re young. Vibrant, jovial and fun Enya just take her wings and gone just so.
On August 18, 2022 2:19 pm you text me and say, “ You’ll text me when you feel better” and a couple
hours later mi get a text say you gone.
You know what? Let’s not dwell on the fact that you’re not here but those four years of friendship. You
leaving without a proper goodbye hurt me to the deepest core but I just want you to know I love and miss
you, My G , My sister, My teammate.
Rest in heavenly peace my friend.
I hope the angels know what they have. I bet it’s so nice up in heaven since you’ve arrived.
Love, Amanda
My loving friend, thank you for all the
laughter and happiness you brought
into my life. You were always willing to
help, always there whenever I needed
to talk about anything. You were so
genuine that the love was always
reciprocated. You have taught me to
never give up and to always press on
no matter the situation and for that,
I will forever be grateful. I’ll forever
miss you brightening up my day.
Your sister, Shekada.
Enya We all miss u bby g. When I heard that
you’re no longer here with us, I couldn’t even sleep.
I didn’t even get the chance to say I love u, and
goodbye. I’m still in disbelief Enya you have a
bright future ahead of u, big dreams and big plans
and u just gone like that bby g. But just know say
Dannefer love u so much. U wouldn’t even know the
love I have for u and how much I miss u pumpkin.
Sleep in peace I know we’ll all remember you
even though you’re not longer here with us.
Heaven just gained another sweet angel and I
hope the angels know what they have.
Dannefer Honeygon
You never said goodbye and only God knows why
So as memories of the past revive in our mind
Give us strength and time to try and articulate what a wonderful friend Enya was
For weeping for someone as lovely as her could’ve stayed longer.
Wish you never had to leave this early
But this is the truth that is always hard to accept, the memories shared will forever be remembered. Rest
in peace my friend.
Enya English has been known to me personally from 2018 when she entered my Principles of Accounts
class. She was the smallest in the group but had the strongest voice. She was a very pleasant and
determined student, who always aimed for excellence and was never afraid of saying “miss me nuh
understand”. It did not bother me at all, and I was always willing to teach all over again for her. It was a
great thrill for me when she was successful in her CXC Principles of Accounts and was later promoted
to Sixth Form where I taught her for two years. Enya was always the first to text or call me when she
received her results. However, this year was different.
My fondest memory of Enya was on Teachers’ Day May 2022, when she came with all smiles and
presented me with a fresh cut red rose and a personal made card. The rose was so beautiful I kept in my
refrigerator for days. I cherished that moment to this day. I am happy that this occasion was captured on
video, which I kept playing over and over again, cannot believe she is really gone.
I will always remember her cheerful ways and her lovely smile.
Rest well, Enya.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
3 To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
Now, this is your time to rest my sister our precious gem. There was never a dull moment around you,
always smiling or telling a joke.
Your go too hairstyle was putting your hair in two and from that, I called you little puff. They were so little
and made you cute.
Beauty with the brains, you are such a brilliant girl whenever I needed help, I could come to you, and you
wouldn’t turn me away.
Can’t forget math class with you because you made learning fun.
In accounts class you were the star, building the competition in class and making everyone else excited to
learn and participate in class.
When it was finally CXC time you called us late nights and early mornings, me a talk some bad 2 o’clock
or 3 o’clock and after we better go sleep because we have to wake the next morning for school and at
school, before the exam, you would drill us multiple times because at the end of the day you wanted us to
pass.
Don’t forget when school over a the first bus you a catch to go home lol
home you gone.
or after practice straight
Gone too soon and wasn’t able to accomplish most of your dreams and for that we will continue to make
you proud Enya.
There’s so much to say but words seem lost to me now. A true friend is never truly gone. Their spirit
lives on in the memories of those who loved them. There will come a point when I will be able to look
back at our memories together and smile.
I know we’ll all remember her even though she’s no longer with us.
Let’s make sure she’s never forgotten.
Love, Scarlett
Enya! Enya! Words will never be enough to express how much she enjoyed being in our presence. She
wanted so much to be successful in all she set her heart to. Admiration for her teachers, coaches, peers,
and teammates was not enough for her. She wanted them to know how much she enjoyed being around
them. Her infectious smile and joy to be around will always be remembered. You have not left, you have
just exchanged the place you came and saw for one made even better, a resting place in your Creator’s
arms.
Enya : I call your name and it just makes me smile always. You are a perfect example of how to enjoy life.
Free spirited, laughing at the silliest of things, never angry, always seeing the best in others, hard worker,
never afraid to try something new even if it is not your thing and doing it with a smile. Joyful expression
was who you are. Christ made you special at showing others how life should be lived. Laughing, smiling,
living each day as if it was your last. Nothing seemed to be a bother to you just ending a moment in a day
and returning the next, not missing a beat, demonstrating how to have a really fun day and time. I taught
you how to hurdle, and not one day or time did you complain just took the challenge and ran with it. Run
on my child, enjoy your moment, dance in his presence, smile as you wave to us. As we try to laugh one
more time with you as you take your rest.
Enya was such a sincere, honest, and
trustworthy friend. Enya has looked out for me
ever since I started at Merl Grove High School.
Even before that we went to the same primary
although we were in two different grades,
the teacher allowed me to stay in their class
sometimes because my uncle was in that class.
That’s how I met Enya. I saved a place for you in
my heart. And your memory will always live on.
God as gained another angel.
My vibrant, winsome and gem of a student.
A priceless gift of love, light and zest for life is what you’ve been to me.
You’ll forever live and be loved in my heart and mind for eternity.
With love from earth to heaven above.
Mrs. Cecile Blake,
Grade 2 teacher whilst at Friendship Primary School
I taught Enya for over 5 years when she was a student of Friendship Primary School and an active
member of the dance group where we participated in the JCDC dance competition and won several
medals.
Back then, she was so tiny and feisty. I figured she was just making up for her size. I always wondered if
she would grow and that she did into a beautiful young lady. She had such a bright future ahead of her.
She was humble, focused and knew what she wanted. I still can’t believe she’s gone but......
Enya Elissa English….. Belle amie! A beautiful soul is who you were. We had so many memories, dreams
and things we wanted to do and accomplish. If anyone knew Enya well, she always wanted to become
an Auditor or an Accountant. She was always jovial, Ms. Picture Perfect, always smiling, talking and
laughing. Enya and I shared so many memories over the past few years. If y’all know the Jamaican term
“batty and bench” that is who were. Always together, no matter where I go or she go even if it’s on the
phone we would still be together. I remember one time we were on mid-term break. Enya went to a hotel
she called me right through her stay at the hotel. She called me when she reached, eating, even when she
was taking pictures, I was still on the phone with her.
We spent most of our memories at school. Enya was a scholar, she doesn’t play about her work. Enya
was one who would sometimes lapse in class but when it’s work time Enya always knows what to do.
Sometimes I would say to her “my girl nuh you just did a sleep, so how you know wah fi do?” and she
would just laugh you know her sneaky little laugh and say “nuh worry your head” and I was there all along
paying attention and still don’t understand. We were always doing TikTok, just making memories and
making each other laugh. Enya was kind, caring, genuine, and straightforward. Enya will tell you the truth
and nothing but the truth. We never had a disagreement. If there was ever something between us we
would just sit and talk. Enya was like my sister. I would look out for her and she would do the same
for me.
Little did we knew that night that God would call your name. In life we loved you dearly, in death we do
the same. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. For a part of us went with you. You
left us with beautiful memories. Your love is still our guide and though we cannot see you, you are always
by our side.
REST IN PERFECT PEACE OUR ANGEL
Shenice Campbell
Through our strengths and weaknesses, we have faced together in our life’s journey, the many obstacles
that came our way to pull us down, we persevered. You were energetic and fun to be around, even though
at times you troubled me, along with Shenice and others. Through the many years I have known you,
there has never been a dull moment. Every laugh brings tears of joy and sadness. You were a friend I
could count on to encourage me and pull me back up when I stumbled or fell. At times, I know how
forgetful you can be without having me constantly remind you of a couple things here and there. I have
so much admiration for you, and I would like to thank you for shaping me into a better version of myself,
and I know you would have continued to do so as well. You were there for me when I lost the only parent I
had left, constantly checking in to ask if I was alright as well as bringing a smile to my face when I
felt down.
I won’t cry knowing you’re here with me. It may not be physically, but I know you’re here spiritually as
well as in my heart. Your love will never be forgotten. We know you are watching over us.
