PHANTOM FALLS
Phantom Falls is a mysterious weather phenomenon
that is colloquially known as Phantom Falls, and can
occur in all seasons. However, it is more common in
Autumn and Spring.
In the Blue Mountains, it's mostly seen over Narrow
Neck, Katoomba, and it is frequently seen over Kings
Tableland, Wentworth Falls.
They occur when the rising sun warms the air in the
Jamison Valley and that draws the cooler air in the
Megalong Valley up and over Narrow Neck. It can also
occur when a cloud mass sitting on Narrow Neck or
Kings Tableland plateau is drawn down to the warmer
air in the valley below.
For the Falls to appear, the weather conditions must
be exact with high humidity. Over Narrow Neck the
Phantom Falls can flow from the Megalong Valley side
or in reverse.
When it happens, there are several places you can
see it including:-
