The R29-millionfacility has 14 beds for patients betweenthe ages of 13 and 17 years.FIX THE LEAKSMakhanda residents are beginning to boilwith frustration and anger with the city’serratic water supply – on one day and offfor at least two days. Some residents saythey’ve been without municipal water fordays on end.Causing more frustration is themunicipality’s apparent failure to repairleaking water pipes on the streets.A resident in the shadow of Sugarloaf Hillsaid a pipe in the street had been leakingfor more than six months despite beingreported “many times”.DSG WINS BOTH IN THE WATERThe Diocesan School for Girls’ (DSG) 1stand U15 teams dominated proceedings atthe Clarendon Stayers waterpolotournament in East London at theweekend, winning their respective finals.In addition, three DSG players wererewarded for their efforts. Jessica Stevenswas named 1st team defender of thetournament, Abigail Holderness the U15defender of the tournament andKimberley Kabiri the U15 goalie of thetournament.LET THE FUN BEGINSince its inception in 1996, the annualRapportryers/PJ Olivier fun run – exceptfor two years due to Covid-19 – has beena truly fun event with huge communitycamaraderie and support.Besides the several thousand randsdonated to local charitable causes at eachevent, the fun run attracts hundreds ofentrants from all over the community.On the fun side, the organisers have, fromthe outset, encouraged local Grade 11pupils – the following year’s matric pupils– to wear fancy dress and run in groups,singing and cheering along the route andadding to the general joviality of thee ve n t .On the subject of route, this year’s eventon Thursday, October 27 features acompletely new route.FUN ON THE RUN: The Rapportryers/PJ Olivier 5km fun run is acommunity fundraiser that attracts hundreds of people of all ages. Thisyear’s fun run takes place on Thursday, October 27. North may,or may not, have a defensive trick in his/her hand, but is unlikely to hold anothertrick. In addition the three doubletons all look like potentiallosers so losing 6 tricks doubled can amount to a nasty 800point penalty.
