Rotary Student of the Month: London
Determined, funny,
and genuinely nice
The London Rotary Club is
pleased to honor senior Joseph
Osborn as London High
School’s October Student of the
Month.
Students of the month are
selected by school administrators
based on their academic
and extracurricular achievement
and positive character.
Joseph has a 4.226 grade
point average, is ranked 15th
in his class, and states his favorite
class is physics. He has
been on the merit honor roll for three years.
He received the Community Star Award his
junior year. The Community Star Award is
given by the Madison Champaign Educational
Service Center to students nominated
because they model servant leadership.
Joseph also was nominated by his teachers
and received Student of the Month his
freshman year. He achieved a varsity letter
in football and an academic letter.
When asked to name a school staff person
who inspires him, Joseph named high
school mathematics teacher
Hana Woodson.
“Mrs. Woodson inspires me
to do my best. She is the best
teacher I have had in high
school,” Joseph said.
Woodson said, “Joe is a genuinely
nice young man. His
humor and personality combined
with his determination
and work ethic make him a joy
to have in class. He is often

overlooked because he is very
unassuming, yet he continues
to perform well.”
Joseph is planning to pursue a degree in
engineering at an Ohio college or university.
Joseph is the son of Brian and Lori Osborn
of London.
The London Rotary Club has a proud history

leaders united worldwide to provide
humanitarian service and help build good
will and peace.

Reliable leader and
learner is a joy to teach
The London Rotary Club is
pleased to honor senior Hannah
Geyer as Madison-Plains
High School’s October Student
of the Month.
Students of the month are
selected by school administrators
based on their academic
and extracurricular achievement
and positive character.
Hannah has a 4.18 grade
point average, ranking her second
in her class. Her favorite
course is anatomy and physiology.
She has been involved in marching
band all four years of high school and has
served as the low brass squad leader.
Hannah has been a member of several
clubs, holding offices in all of them: Key
Club, two years, has served as president;
National Honor Society, three years, has
served as vice president; and Student Council,
three years, has served as treasurer. She
has served as class secretary for two years,
including this year as senior class secretary.
In addition to all of this, Hannah has
participated in Quick Recall for four years
and Drama Club for three years.
When asked to name a Madison-Plains
Hannah Geyer
staff member who inspires her,
Hannah named her music
teacher, Andrew Lawrence.
“He cares so much about his
students and loves what he
does,” she said.
Lawrence said, “Hannah
has been an excellent student
for me the past seven years.
She is someone I can count on
to lead others, do the extra
work, and find creative ways
towards a solution. She is a
fine musician who is dedicated
to her craft, eager to learn, and focused on
helping others in their music pursuits, as
well. She has been a joy to teach.”
After graduation, Hannah plans to go to
college, likely for music or science education.
She is the daughter of Scott and Cari
Geyer.
