Dear CCHAT supporter,

Whether in-person or via teleservices, CCHAT continues to

strive toward providing the best listening and spoken language

program for children with hearing loss. Following local health

guidelines and regulations, CCHAT students returned to campus

October 5th, 2020, after a month of distance learning. The

homecoming brought joy and a sense of normalcy to our

students, staff and families.

As we move into our 25th school year this fall, we send our

heartfelt THANKS for all you do to help sustain our program.

Our dedicated staff of teachers, speech therapists, aides and

audiologists could not do what we do without your love and

commitment to CCHAT. You are a part of the CCHAT family, and

your support truly makes a life-changing difference today and

always.

With sincere thanks,

2021

KEVIN SCIFRES

For his Eagle Scout Service Project, Kevin

Scifres wanted to do something for the

school where he got his start. The CCHAT

alumni student coordinated an extensive

campus parking lot project -- and the

results are FANTASTIC! Kevin’s project

included the removal of CCHAT’s

hazardous dumpster area, paving the

border of the property and replacing

unsightly shrubs with beautiful palm trees.

2021

Three amazing local companies -- Lund Construction Co., Roebbelen

Construction and Livingston's Concrete -- supported the project,

and the CCHAT community watched in appreciation as the rugged

campus boundary was transformed into a fresh, clean surface that

looks terrific! CCHAT is not only more aesthetically pleasing; it is

now also safer for students, staff and families.

"Discovering your child has hearing loss is a whirlwind of mixed emotions and

uncertainty. It wasn’t until we attended CCHAT that we felt at ease and more

supported. CCHAT opened our eyes to all of the possibilities of our son being able to

hear and speak to us and his brother."

The Miles Family (Tevin)

"Sofia started off with a delay in her speech and language, but as soon

as she arrived at CCHAT, all of that started to change. Thanks to the

dedicated team at CCHAT, Sofia is well on her way to an independent life

where she will be able to communicate with the world with confidence."

2021

The Jahangiri Family (Sofia)

"Our son was born with severe-to-profound hearing loss. We’ve

attended CCHAT since Nico was 3 weeks old in the Baby & Me

program. His language continues to develop. He is speaking in full

sentences and flourishing every day!"

The Borgatti Family (Nico)

"Kate’s been at CCHAT for a year and is absolutely thriving. She is so much

more confident in her ability to communicate with others. I’m so grateful

for the CCHAT community. I see all of their hard work, their dedication and

their love when I look at how much my daughter has grown."

The Nguyen Family (Kate)

by CCHAT, approximately

150 children will be born

with hearing loss every year.

2021

66/50

Of CCHAT's student

CCHAT is home to two on-site audiologists to serve its

student population. The audiology department performs

several vital functions, including routine hearing tests and

hearing-assistive technology setup and troubleshooting.

The presence of these professionals ensures that all

CCHAT children with hearing loss have optimal access to

sound throughout the school day.

Additionally, CCHAT is a

registered MediCal/CCS Type C

Communication Disorder Center.

This allows the program to

provide hearing test rescreenings

and diagnostic evaluations to

newborns throughout the

community who fail their initial

inpatient hearing screenings.

development, grammatical structures, literacy skills and

reading comprehension.

CCHAT’s team of speech

therapists, in collaboration with
