Dear Oakseed Family,
I count it a great privilege to be in fellowship with our
ministries daily, to hear their stories, celebrate and mourn
alongside them, and join with them in prayer. We care deeply
for the plight of the poor and work to alleviate the pains of
poverty, but we know that seeking and caring for lost souls is
more important than any physical need. Only the gospel can
give eternal hope.
I hope this catalog will give you a glimpse into God’s mighty
work of bringing hope to the poorest of the poor worldwide.
I invite you to join us in prayer and support for these faithful
ministries.
For 30 years, Oakseed has partnered with indigenous
ministries to shine brightly with the gospel while meeting
practical needs in some of the world’s darkest places.
Thousands of lives have been lifted from the pit of poverty and
given eternal hope in Jesus because of our work together.
Through selecting bazaar catalog gifts for loved ones and
your faithful intercession for these ministries, you are a part
of God’s work across the earth. As you flip through this year’s
bazaar catalog, you can continue advancing the gospel while
helping the poor gain dignity and self-sufficiency. Your gift
to a widow to start a food cart to meet her family’s needs or
provide an education
to an orphaned child
will transform a life
forever and replace
despair with joy.
Oakseed’s
Vision
“Bestow on them
a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of
praise instead of a
spirit of despair.
They will be
called oaks of
righteousness, a
planting of the
LORD for the
display of his
splendor.”
– Isaiah 61:3
“As a result of our partnership with
Oakseed, JOMA has grown from a seed
of faith to a mission with fruit to show.
It has helped us translate our dreams
into action. Thank you for standing
with us in prayer. We believe nothing
of significance can be achieved without
prayer.”

SUPPORTING INDIGENOUS MINISTRIES IN THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL
“This is the confidence we
have in approaching God:
that if we ask anything
according to his will,
he hears us. And if we
know that he hears us—
whatever we ask—we
know that we have what
we asked of him.”
– 1 John 5:14-15
Four Simple Ways to Order:
When you select a gift from the Oakseed bazaar
catalog, 100 percent of your gift cost will reach the
designated ministry partner. Oakseed is dedicated
to spreading the gospel while also meeting difficult
physical needs and walking alongside the poor
worldwide through pandemics, floods, mudslides,
and addiction. Your gift will positively change
the future of communities, families, widows,
and orphans—and its impact will last far beyond
Christmas morning.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and generosity.
We have confidence that the Lord hears the prayers
of His people and responds in astonishing ways
because we’ve seen God doing this for the past 30
years at Oakseed.

CELEBRATING 30 YEARS
of Ministry to the Urban Poor
When Ed Bradley founded Oakseed Ministries International
30 years ago, the vision wasn’t to go it alone but to link arms
with local ministries serving the urban poor worldwide.
According to Children International, global poverty was reduced
by 50 percent in the last 20 years—the fruit from a generation of
people dedicated toward eradicating poverty. This generation is
comprised of individuals who serve on the frontlines like Oakseed’s
ministry partners as well as Oakseed supporters who give and pray
generously.
Oakseed is a part of a bigger global movement to bring individuals
out of poverty. But what sets Oakseed apart from others is its
mission to “support indigenous ministries to proclaim the gospel
while serving the poorest and most neglected urban communities
around the world.” The connection between meeting both spiritual
and physical needs is the foundation for the ministry.
Working Together with Local Ministries
Fourteen years ago, Johanna Sanders and Julian Bull met Bradley
while he was traveling through Myanmar. As the three conversed,
it became clear they shared a passion for Jesus and caring for the
urban poor—a unique combination. Sanders invited Bradley to tour
the two orphanages she had founded; this marked the beginning of
Oakseed’s partnership with Mustard Seed Orphanage.
“Much blessing resulted from that contact,” said Bull, Southeast
Asia Ministry Liasion. “We are grateful for God’s providence in
linking our two ministries.”
Today Mustard Seed
Orphanage has served
2,187 children, adults, and
widows, operates three
orphan houses, built two
dormitories, and dug a
well through support from
Oakseed.
“We have drawn great
encouragement, support,
and wisdom from
Oakseed,” said Timothy
Thang Lyan, Director of
Mustard Seed Orphanage,
reflecting on the
partnership over the years.

“We have drawn great

Oakseed.”
– Timothy Thang Lyan,
Director of Mustard Seed
Orphanage
When we generously give
and faithfully intercede...
God blesses not only us,
but individuals around
the world we may never
meet.
“We gain insight and help into how the Lord works and
wisdom for practical and spiritual responses to different
situations in real-life cross-cultural mission settings.”
The partnership with Mustard Seed Orphanage
embodies what Oakseed prioritizes in ministry—an
incarnational approach to missions. Indigenous
ministry partners are the hands and feet of Jesus in their
service to the urban poor.
While Oakseed provides financial contributions to
indigenous ministries, the amount does not exceed 30
percent of a given ministry’s budget to ensure longterm
sustainability and to harness local support in the work. This
policy guards against inundating an overseas ministry with too much
Western money—protecting against pseudo-ministries—and still
meets the tangible needs of brothers and sisters around the globe.
Cultivating New Partnerships
Oakseed maintains long-term partnerships, such as with Mustard
Seed Orphanage, while still cultivating new ones. In 2020, a
tumultuous time in the world, Reformed Hearts Orphans Center
(RHOC) became a ministry partner with Oakseed.
When determining a potential new ministry partner, Oakseed
requires a ministry to integrate the service of the urban poor with the
gospel. The leader of a ministry must be indigenous, actively engaged
in the ministry, and attend a local, biblical church.
For several years Kenyan-based RHOC faithfully served orphans in
their community but struggled to keep pace with the huge demand—
around 3.6 million Kenyan children are orphaned or need special
care. 1 In a typical Kenyan household, one child out of 10 is orphaned
because of a sick adult. 2 RHOC stepped into this gap, but needed a
ministry partner to come alongside them to help more vulnerable
children and sustain this life-changing work.
“Before the entering of Oakseed Ministries
International in the lives of the children at RHOC, the
orphans had no place to call home—not even enough
food and clean water,” said Andrew Onserio, RHOC
Director. “There was no hope for education for the
orphans in this region of the world.”
After partnering with Oakseed, Kenyan orphans
now “enjoy privileges like other children in the
community”—eating three meals a day, accessing clean drinking
water, owning more than one clothing outfit, attending school, and
accessing medical care. Through support from Oakseed, RHOC’s
ministry has flourished in recent years. Today RHOC serves 35

orphans and vulnerable children. The ministry also maintains a
spiritual growth program for children. In 2022, six orphans made a
decision to follow Jesus and were baptized.
Impacting the Future
For over 20 years MISIUR has partnered with Oakseed to meet
the physical and spiritual needs of impoverished children in Peru.
Through the steady ministry relationship cultivated over time,
MISIUR has become a reliable pillar of service in their communities
to shine the gospel.
When the global pandemic rocked the world in 2020 and 2021,
MISIUR struggled to keep providing services. But through the
“timely support” of Oakseed, MISIUR met the needs of urban
Peruvians instead of ceasing support services when communities
most needed the help.
This past spring, when mudslides occurred and rivers flooded,
MISIUR stepped in to provide emergency services to affected
families in San José de los Molinos. The ministry provided food,
water, blankets, and roof repairs to damaged homes—something
they couldn’t have accomplished if the pandemic had closed their
doors. But through the support of Oakseed, MISIUR continues to
operate in Peru and is readily available to assist their communities
whether it’s an everyday need or a crisis.
When two ministries work together with God, the physical and
spiritual needs of the poor and needy are met. MISIUR, and other
Oakseed ministry partners, don’t have to serve the urban poor in
isolation. Instead they can link arms with Oakseed—and other likeminded
groups—to meet the tangible and spiritual needs of the poor
and needy.
Oakseed, its 25 ministry partners in 13 countries, and its faithful
supporters can make a difference in the lives of the crushed, forgotten,
or abandoned by fulfilling its vision “to bring good news to the poor…
to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and
the opening of the prison to those who are bound” (Isa. 61:1).

Each of us, has a role to play in caring for the poor, oppressed, and

“Thank you, Oakseed partners, for standing in prayer with us,” said

As we reflect on God’s faithfulness to impact the darkest corners

anticipate the ways the Lord will continue to bring Christ’s hope, life,
and peace to the poor in the world’s largest cities—together.

Brazilian Baseball and Softball
Associação Brasileira de Beisebol e Softbol (ABBS)
São José dos Campos, Brazil
Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2002
Brazilian Baseball and Softball Association (ABBS) shares the gospel using baseball with
at-risk children of São José dos Campos, Brazil. Children from the favelas (slums) attend
the weekly baseball skill training program. Families learn how to apply God’s Word to
their lives through participating in weekly Bible studies. Kids form safe, Christ-centered
friendships within this “baseball family.”
Bazaar Gifts
AB1–Bible for a slum child.....................................................................................$10
Children are delighted to receive their own Bibles and quickly write their names and the
baseball position they play on the inside cover.
AB2–Gloves, bats, and baseballs.............................................................................$40
Gloves, bats, and baseballs allow children to participate in games and tournaments.
AB3–Uniforms and cleats for two players..............................................................$80
This gift provides two players with the uniform and proper shoes to play baseball.
Uniforms also allow children to look and feel like a team.
AB4–Baseball training camp +.............................................................................$250
ABBS uses baseball camps to host Bible studies and build relationships with players while
learning the sport. Your gift allows impoverished children to attend camp at no cost.
AB5–Where most needed.......................................................................................$25
Your gift will be given to ABBS to be used where it is most needed as they serve impoverished
children through baseball.
Pray for ABBS:
Recently the city government agreed to provide an area for ABBS to use for their baseball
and softball ministries, but it still needs to be developed before it can be used. Praise the
Lord for answering prayers for a field and ask God to use this ministry to draw children to
Himself and away from the lure of drugs and crime.
DID YOU KNOW?
Baseball is not a well-known sport
in Brazil and is a novelty to kids!
Even though children participated on the
ABBS team and learned to play baseball,
they weren’t able to play in any away games
or seriously compete with other teams until a
van was purchased last year from the bazaar
catalog. This past year, kids fully competed in
the local baseball leagues by finally attending
away games. Additionally, the van has
expanded ABBS’s outreach to further away
favelas by transporting children to the fields
and events.

Angel Care Pregnancy Center
Monrovia, Liberia
Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2021
Angel Care Pregnancy Center is a ministry of Mission
Bethel that meets the dire needs of impoverished
mothers in Liberia by providing counseling, baby
supplies, prenatal medical care, infant care classes,
and parent skills training. Liberia is ranked 10th
for maternal mortality rates in the world. Liberian
women desperately need access to quality prenatal
and postnatal care to save the lives of mothers and
infants. Angel Care has stepped into this medical
services desert to provide quality care to a vulnerable
community. Additionally, Angel Care distributes
clothing, blankets, diapers, baby wipes, and hygiene
items to families.
Around 49 percent of Liberian women have
experienced domestic violence in their home, resulting
in unhealthy and destructive habits of interaction
within families. Angel Care’s parenting classes help
mothers see and nurture the potential in their children
instead of turning to anger. During these two-week
courses, women receive training from a professional
counselor, pastor, teacher, and lawyer. As families are
given tools for healthy parenting, children’s lives are
transformed and women can work toward healing.
When Wothy Freeman became a Christian,
her Muslim husband refused to provide basic
support to her. Without her husband’s financial
support, Wothy struggled to meet the needs
of her children. Through a bazaar gift from
Oakseed, Wothy was given a sewing machine to
start her own tailoring business. Today Wothy
is a successful seamstress in her community and
fully self-sufficient. With a heart to help, Wothy
trains other poor women and young girls from her
church and neighborhood to become seamstresses.
Through her compassion, her business continues
to thrive. She teaches women a tangible skill and
helps these ladies discover hope in Jesus.
Pray for Angel Care:
Pray the Lord preserves the lives of mothers and babies and breaks the devastating cycle of
domestic violence in Liberia.
Bazaar Gifts

Ashirvad Kanti
Light of Blessing
Nagpur, India
Oakseed’s ministry partner since 1994
Ashirvad Kanti shines light into India’s
darkest places. Ashirvad children’s home
hosts kids from neglect/abuse situations and
families affected by HIV as full-time residents.
Ashirvad Kanti also provides job training to
destitute women by teaching computer classes,
cosmetology, and tailoring. This past year,
women enrolled in the computer training program moved beyond basic computer skills
into professional courses like IT literacy, desktop publishing, and accounting software.
The devastating effects of COVID left many orphans and single mothers in India.
Ashirvad Kanti is providing housing, food, education, and other support to these women
and children.
“We are very grateful to the prayer
warriors of Oakseed who have been
interceding for us over the past two
decades. The financial investments and
prayer support you raised for us is the
cause for the fruit we see today. Thank
you very much for your love.”

– Pushpa Waghmare
The beautician course trainer is a
former beneficiary of Ashirwad! She
still lives in the same urban poor
community but is helping others
develop self-sufficiency skills!
“Ashirvad Kanti is focused on children
at-risk. They are built to eventually
stand on their two feet and empower
their community. Over the years
Ashirvad has dealt with the root of
issues in the slums of Nagpur instead of
simply addressing the symptoms alone.”
– Satish Moses,
Ministry Liaison to India
Pray for Ashirvad Kanti:
Pray for creativity and boldness for Ashirvad Kanti to continue to couple their social
programs with the more critical preaching of the gospel. Also, pray for support and
protection from the government in a culture increasingly hostile to Christianity.
Bazaar Gifts
AK1–Educational resources for slum children................................................. $25
The gift of educational resources provides paper, pencils, notebooks, books, and other
items for impoverished children to participate in school.
AK2–Clothing and necessities for orphans....................................................... $40
Most orphans arrive at Ashirvad Kanti with only the clothes on their backs. This gift
provides additional sets of clothing and hygiene necessities.
AK3–Slum mobile clinic supplies...................................................................... $75
In the slums people suffer from easily treated health issues. Ashirvad Kanti visits
impoverished families to provide medication like antibiotic wound cream,
over-the-counter pain medication, and vitamins. Staff also refer more significant health
issues to the local hospital.
AK4–Women’s job training.............................................................................. $100
This gift provides a woman with job training to provide for her family. Women in this
program are proud of what they accomplish and bring dignity to their families.

CEMIPRE
Valparaíso, Chile
Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2020
CEMIPRE began as a ministry in 2003, became a
Chilean foundation in 2013, and currently serves over
60 individuals with vision impairment (low vision or
blindness). While the average age of a participant is
50, this year CEMPIRE added occupational therapy
services for children ages 5–16. Every service—
occupational, speech, and language therapy; Braille
instruction; and computer literacy training—is bathed
in the gospel. Rather than focusing on a diagnosis or
a disability, the ministry highlights each participant’s
value and dignity.
CEMIPRE involves family and friends as much
as possible to educate and encourage program
participants. A devoted group of local pastors and
church members teach 30-minute devotionals twice a week to beneficiaries. Local church
involvement has increased over the years; a change from rejecting people with disabilities
to welcoming them into their fellowships.
Bazaar Gifts
CE1–Braille or audio Bible.................................................................................$15
The gift of Braille and audio Bibles allows individuals at CEMIPRE to engage in the Word
of God, learn how to read Braille, and understand the truths of the gospel.
CE2–Cane repair toolkit.....................................................................................$30
Canes experience wear and tear from frequent use. Damage compromises the reliability
of the cane. Your gift will provide a toolkit to repair canes, allowing the user to continue to
use this essential medical device.
CE3–Walking canes with rolling tips..................................................................$45
Participants at CEMIPRE learn to navigate using a cane. Your gift will provide a new
walking cane to an adult learning this essential skill, blessing them with the ability to move
around safely and independently.
CE4–Counseling support..................................................................................$320
Some participants at CEMIPRE experience deep grief at the loss of their sight and would
benefit from support beyond the typical program. Your gift will provide individual counseling
sessions for one participant and their family.
CE5–Raised garden bed.................................................................................$1,000
Your gift will build raised garden beds and provide an outlet for participants to
learn how to garden without sight.
CE6–Where most needed....................................................................................$25
Your gift will provide CEMIPRE with the resources to minister to the needs of blind children
and adults through its training center.
Pray for CEMIPRE:
New participants require more hands-on attention as they navigate a new world of vision
loss. With an influx of new participants (including several children with low vision or
blindness), pray for CEMIPRE workers to have wisdom and continue to care for and
encourage long-term participants well.
Filled with fear and shame,
Macarena took her first steps into
CEMIPRE. These steps meant she
was becoming one of “them”– a
person with a disability. Macarena
was young, fit, and working at a
job she loved. She didn’t want to
be disabled even though she had
been diagnosed with degenerative
low vision. A friend from church
encouraged Macarena to check out
CEMIPRE. Over time CEMIPRE
helped Macarena understand
her diagnosis. She could see this
wasn’t the end of her life but a
new chapter. Macarena is learning
orientation and mobility through
use of a white cane and Braille. But
finding true community among the
staff and others with disabilities has
been the greatest treasure of all.

Emanuel House
Quisqueya, Dominican Republic
New ministry partner in 2022
Emanuel House (EH) feeds children spiritually, physically,
and emotionally. EH serves 150 children from
117 of the poorest families in Quisqueya. In addition
to Bible study and education, children receive access to
clean water, functioning bathrooms, and regular meals
(breakfast, lunch, and snack)—which they may not
have access to at home.
EH works with neurodiverse children—children
with hearing loss, partial vision loss, physical
disabilities, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, autism,
dyslexia— and provides training to the community
to care well for this population. EH also holds
Bible classes with children and their parents; many
families become followers of Jesus.
“There is great respect for the school in the
community because the school makes water
available for the community. Also, some
sports teams are allowed to use this water
for their practices and games.”
– Rick Horne, Ministry Liasion to
Africa & the Dominican Republic
Pray for Emanuel House:
Pray the training EH provides to the community
on caring for neurodiverse children would result in
kids with special needs being loved, supported, and
well cared for in their homes and neighborhood.

Israel Shalom
São Paulo, Brazil
New ministry partner in 2022
Israel Shalom ministers to 103 at-risk children and
adolescents from the Brasilândia community, a deprived
area on the outskirts of São Paulo, Brazil. Israel Shalom
uses musical education with a Christian focus to gain
the attention of youth and to share the gospel—which
can transform the life trajectory of these kids.
Israel Shalom teaches youth music appreciation classes
and beginner to advanced music lessons (instrumental
and vocal). Within the community, Israel Shalom
performs concerts and shows to highlight young artists
and provides an outlet to share the gospel. Adolescents
are trained to lead worship at local churches and youth
detention centers alongside its ministry partner, JEAME.
Additionally, Israel Shalom teaches ballet to girls
culminating in recitals.
The majority of volunteers graduated from the program and returned to invest into the lives
of these youth. As graduates pour into the ministry, they serve as role models and proof to
at-risk kids that staying off the streets and away from the pull of gangs is possible through
participation in Israel Shalom programs.
Pray for Israel Shalom:
Many volunteers are former students who have caught the vision to impact their

Jars of Oil Mission Africa (JOMA)
Amuria, Hoima and Lira, Uganda
Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2019
Jars of Oil Mission Africa (JOMA) ministers to elderly widows (affectionately referred to as
grannies) who lost their children to AIDS and now take care of their grandchildren. With
compassion, the ministry breaks through the shame and stigma associated with AIDS to
meet physical and spiritual needs.
JOMA feeds families by delivering
food packages and helping
“grannies” start gardens. The
gardens provide a source of food,
income, and dignity. Many of
the grannies suffer from HIV or
other illnesses so JOMA arranges
medical treatment for them.
JOMA helped grannies enroll
16 orphans into local schools.
Additionally, JOMA established
a program to improve housing

Living with HIV filled Harriet’s heart with anxiety.
She worried about her grandchildren’s future given
her health condition. But after receiving help from
JOMA, her family’s life was turned upside down when
introduced to Jesus. Harriet and her three grandchildren
became Christians and her health has improved since
participating in JOMA. For the first time Harriet sees hope
on the horizon for her family.
Pray for JOMA:
Ask the Lord to transform multiple
generations as God’s love to grannies and
their orphaned grandchildren is shown
by staff.
For months Sarah’s poor health confined her to a bed.
Despair covered Sarah like a rain cloud and fear gripped
her heart. She felt unworthy of God’s love and forgotten.
After participating in JOMA, Sarah learned an important
truth: God sees and loves her. Armed with truth instead
of lies, Sarah’s health—both spiritual and physical—has
improved. Her days are spent working around the new
home the Lord provided for her family. She can smile at
the days ahead because God is with her and meeting her
everyday needs.

Ministério JEAME conducts evangelistic
services in 13 juvenile detention centers in
São Paulo, Brazil, reaching 1,000 teenagers
each week. JEAME is located blocks from
a drug-infested area of São Paulo named
Cracolândia. JEAME conducts regular street
evangelism and prayer walks through the
neighborhood. Follow-ups from these efforts
include Christian discipleship and vocational
training.
In 2021, JEAME opened a community center to minister to teens released from prison.
The center allows JEAME to support teens in new ways. JEAME provides a barber training
program where newly released teens can learn job skills. As the ministry continues to grow,
JEAME hopes to launch a professional bakery course for teenagers at Centro Rio Tâmisa.
These new job skill programs impact the lives of teens by providing a source of income,
community connection, and an encounter with God.
With over 40 years of community service and
ministry in Brazil, JEAME is well-known and
respected. Over the years JEAME has opened
doors for other ministries to thrive—including
ABBS, Lily of the Valleys, and Israel Shalom.
JEAME invests in these new ministries—
often bringing a fledging ministry under its
umbrella of care — until they are ready to
launch out on their own. JEAME’s faithful
encouragement and support has resulted in
more Brazilian urban communities accessing
life-changing services and being impacted by

Love Never Fails
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2021
Love Never Fails decreases the spread of
HIV/AIDS and frees women from a life of
prostitution. Working in the slums of Addis
Ababa, Ethiopia, Love Never Fails cares for
the daily physical needs of men and women
living with AIDS, encourages HIV testing,
provides AIDS awareness programs, and
leads training to destigmatize the disease.
In addition, the ministry offers both incomegenerating
activities for prostitutes and
educational support for children so that
vulnerable women and children have job
skills to become self-sufficient. This past
spring four women left prostitution and
started their own businesses and two became
Christians through their engagement with the
ministry.
When Seble left a life of prostitution and placed her faith in
Jesus, she expected those first steps to be the hardest. But when
a local church told her to not return because they didn’t want
their church to be known as a church of prostitutes, she was
heartbroken. Many women like Seble face this same challenge.
In response to this rampant issue, Love Never Fails provides

their churches embrace women leaving prostitution and
integrate them into the church body.

MISIUR
Misión Integral Urbano Rural

Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2000
Misión Integral Urbano Rural (MISIUR) improves the quality of life for poor children
and their families in Peru through comprehensive spiritual and physical care. MISIUR
operates two after-school programs, serving 100 children and youth each day. These
programs create a safe place away from gang violence where children are fed physically

MISIUR continues to operate “Bread of Life,” a program offering lunch and devotions five

including providing meals to family members of recipients.
MISIUR also leads livelihood projects to promote self-sufficiency among women through
training in baking, cosmetology, and starting a chicken farm.
No one can be prepared for bad news, including Jenny Rojas, mother of
MISIUR participant Ccori Perez. Rojas learned her husband needed surgery
for a brain tumor, but instead of succumbing to fear she kept her eyes fixed on
Jesus—and MISIUR devotions played a role in encouraging her faith.
“Thank you for the biblical reflections because they help me a lot in keeping

secure jobs when they grow up. Ask for parents to experience transformed hearts and lives
as they hear the gospel.
This past year Morning Light
secured five full-time employees
and three part-time workers to
better serve participants in the
ministry through Oakseed giving.
As the sole income provider for her family of eight, Shitu worked hard to earn money.
Shitu made injera, a non-sweet pancake-like bread Ethiopians eat with meals, to sell
each day. But she barely earned enough to scrape by. Without electricity Shitu relied
on the traditional way to prepare injera—wood and eucalyptus tree leaves. Whenever
Shitu cooked the injera her small mud house filled with smoke. The scent dominated
the mud hut night and day and created family problems.
Her two teenage sons couldn’t tolerate the smoke and left home in search of work.
Another son stopped attending school because he was teased for smelling like smoke.
But if Shitu stopped making injera she didn’t have another way to earn money.
Through a local government organization, Shitu was introduced to Morning Light.
Shitu wanted to continue her injera business. Morning Light helped Shitu connect to
the electrical power grid and purchase an electric griddle to cook injera. Additionally,
Morning Light provided Shitu’s children with uniforms, bags, and other supplies so
they could fit in among their peers at school.
Since her encounter with Morning Light, Shitu’s life isn’t hazy but filled with hope.
Shitu’s family can eat three meals a day, her son returned to school, the rest of her kids
attend school, one teenage son came back home, and they purchased a bed for the
children. Shitu’s family is rising out of poverty and on the path of self-sufficiency.

Reformed Heart Orphans Center (RHOC) cares for 35 orphans in seven RHOC homes or

With a desire to place children in homes and with families—instead of institutions—RHOC

Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2021
Royal Nest is a tuition-free Christian school for
impoverished children in the slums of Monrovia,
Liberia. With 84 percent of the population living
below the poverty line of $1.25 per day, Liberia is
one of the poorest countries in the world.
Royal Nest helps 500 underprivileged children
break the cycle of poverty through education.
Each year Royal Nest hosts community outreach
days on Liberia’s Independence Day (July 26) and
Christmas Day where 300 community children

gifts. The ministry also hosts a soccer program
so children can develop positive friendships and
cultivate team-building skills.
As a single mom of five children,
Krubo Johnson experienced more
disappointment and hardships than
she could count. Bitterness and anger
consumed her heart. Rude words
escaped her mouth and reached
the ears of her children. But when
Johnson started receiving postnatal

SUPPORTING INDIGENOUS MINISTRIES IN THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL
Sugandh
New Delhi, India
Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2004
The Sugandh Child Development Center, located in a slum of
South Delhi, India, has been transforming the lives of working
children for 22 years. Children ages 6–10 come to the center
for four hours before going to work as trash collectors in the
marketplace. Kids receive a meal and are taught English, math,
science, and social studies.
Sugandh offers savings and loan cooperative groups to women in
the slums who do not have the documentation needed for a bank
account, or the cost of getting to a bank exceeds what they can
save in a month. Money from savings and low-interest loans from
the cooperative groups enable women to buy small plots of land
in their villages, cover medical expenses, and fund their children’s
education.
Sugandh operates community outreach programs to provide basic health care and
awareness campaigns as well as empower vulnerable communities to participate in
the process of improving their quality of life—from access to clean drinking water to
electricity in homes. Additionally, adults can participate in a six-month sewing certificate
program to help families develop skills to become self-sufficient.
Pray for Sugandh:
Pray for creative ways to keep the focus on the gospel in their community development
programs as they face increased governmental pressure. Pray for favor with the local
governments, protection from persecution, and boldness in proclamation because the
gospel alone offers eternal hope, dignity, and freedom.

– Thangtei David,
Director of Sugandh
Meena: Meena migrated to Delhi from her hometown to find work.
Her husband worked as a laborer, but one day he tragically died
leaving Meena to provide for her sons alone. When she applied for
a government widow’s pension her application was denied. Meena
found it challenging to save money as she struggled to meet the daily
needs of her family. Meena joined a Sugandh women’s self-help
group. She started to save money and increased her knowledge about
finances. With the help of Sugandh, Meena correctly filled out the
government application for a widow’s pension and now benefits from
receiving a pension each month.
Majeda: Majeda’s husband lost his daily wage laborer job during
the pandemic. With four mouths to feed and no income, Majeda’s
hope flickered. But Sugandh stepped in to provide basic provisions
to her family.
Afshana: During a house visit workers met Afshana, who had
stopped her education at class 9 (high school freshman) due to family
issues. After Afshana’s family attended an education awareness
program that explained the importance and benefits of education,
Afshana was enrolled in school again!
Naseema: After attending an advocacy awareness meeting, Naseema
learned about a government program that provides gas for those in
need—like herself—who are unable to cook food at home. Naseema
thought she had to go through a private business and pay lots of
money to obtain these vital resources. Sugandh explained how to
apply for the government program to get these supplies for free. A
few days later Naseema was given a gas stove, regulator, and pipeline
from the government program. Today she can cook at home using
these valuable supplies.

Every Monday for the past three years, 72-year-old youth ministry leader, Layla Ali, prayed
for the Lord to send workers to help her teach the handful of youth at her church. Living in a
densely populated area of Cairo, finding help was challenging. Year after year no one came
but still she prayed.
During this same time, Teen Ministry began to flourish until the ministry was prepared to
send five program graduates out as missionaries to a highly populated area in Cairo this past
year—the same neighborhood of Ali’s church.
Through the guidance of the Lord, the five Teen Ministry graduates met Ali. Today these
young women, along with two of their husbands, lead a youth group meeting on Fridays. The
Lord heard Ali’s prayers and provided above and beyond her expectations!
Teen Ministry
Cairo, Egypt
Oakseed’s ministry partner since 2001
Teen Ministry brings love and hope into the lives of teenage girls living in the “garbage city”
of Cairo, Egypt. Teen Ministry provides a safe place where girls from the slums can receive
medical and dental services, learn about hygiene, and hear the gospel. Teen Ministry teaches
these young girls to find joy in Christ, devoting time to prayer and Bible study. In “garbage
city,” girls are often abused and neglected. Many teens experience genuine love for the first
time as they participate in the ministry.
Teen Ministry leaders are alumni who return to serve in this life-changing outreach.
Teen Ministry also provides food to girls and their families, either picked up at the center or
delivered to their homes. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, spiritual fruit in the lives of
many girls has sprouted.
Pray for Teen Ministry:
Pray the Lord protects the girls and Teen Ministry leaders as they face persecution and
live in a violent and uncertain world. Also, pray teens find comfort and refuge in Christ.
Ask for God’s peace to fill and make teens and workers bold witnesses to others in their
community.
Several years ago Mariam, a Teen Ministry participant, got
married and gave birth to a baby boy who died at two-months-old
from heart failure. In 2021, Mariam had a second baby and named
him Youssef. Baby Youssef also had heart problems and wasn’t
expected to live long. Mariam and her husband joined in prayer
with other believers, including the girls at Teen Ministry, to pray
for Youssef. During a regular visit to the pediatrician, the doctor
discovered Youssef’s heart was normal! The doctor was surprised
to see this answer to prayer! Youseef remains in good health! This
testimony to the power of prayer has been a great encouragement to
the girls at Teen Ministry.

TM1–Clothing and hygiene Items..................................................................... $25
Good hygiene is difficult to maintain for teens in “garbage city.” Teen Ministry supplies
hygiene products and cleaning facilities at the ministry center. Your gift will provide a teen

TM2–Shoes and backpacks................................................................................ $40
Girls at Teen Ministry continue to collect, sort, and clean garbage for their family to sell.
Medical waste, while extremely dangerous to handle, can be sold at the highest price. Shoes
protect girls from injuring their feet by stepping on needles, broken glass, or sharp metal.
Backpacks provide a place to keep school supplies and personal items safe and clean.
TM3–Meals for program participants............................................................... $50
Teen girls are vulnerable to abuse from men in the garbage district. Sometimes men promise
to feed a girl a “nice meal” (such as a fast food restaurant) if she converts to Islam. If a teen
refuses she suffers abuse. Teen Ministry provides meals and treats girls to a “nice meal” with
the love of Christ rather than as a tool of manipulation.

SUPPORTING INDIGENOUS MINISTRIES IN THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL
Oakseed Ministries International
US Headquarters
Oakseed Ministries International assists indigenous
ministries serving the urban poor in the world’s
largest cities by supporting ministry partners through
prayer, support, and training. At their headquarters,
Oakseed produces prayer guides to engage
supporters, churches, and families in intercession.
Oakseed keeps supporters informed about ministries
through email, social media updates, events, and the

Oakseed’s ministry liaisons (pages 62-64) are vital
to the Oakseed missions model. Ministry liaisons
are responsible for a specific world region and
regularly visit ministry partners to track with their
outreaches, provide training and resources, and
encourage frontline ministry workers to the urban
poor. Ministry liaisons also help identify potential
ministries for future partnerships.
Thank you for partnering with Oakseed as we walk
alongside those serving the urban poor for the glory of God!

NOTE: For Oakseed to send 100% of the gifts to the mission field, the costs of the bazaar catalog
must be raised separately. A gift toward the expenses of the bazaar catalog helps accomplish this.
Pray for Oakseed:
Pray for the Lord to bless relationships with
our current partners and open the right doors
for Oakseed to find and cultivate new ministry
partnerships.
“To know that God had
already met every need
these ministries had

supporters before we

incredible.”
– Tiffany Crosley,
Director of Oakseed
Ministries International
The Lord has used the bazaar catalog to bless our ministry partners over the years. On
a visit to India, Ed Bradley, Oakseed founder, shared the news with a ministry partner
director that two laptops were supplied through the bazaar catalog.
Later that same morning Bradley met with staff and asked for prayer requests. Two
staff had accidentally left the ministry’s only laptop in a rickshaw after a seminar and
requested prayer for the situation. In tears the staff decided to give a portion of their
salaries over the next six months to replace it.
The director stood up and said, “Can I interrupt? Before we pray, I think God has
already answered our prayers! Ed has an announcement.”
Ed rose to his feet. “Through the Oakseed bazaar catalog, we have received funds for
TWO laptops for your ministry!”
Cheers resounded across the room. Staff leaped with joy at how God provided for their
needs in advance.

goal is to move from
Psalm 74:20—with the

Our Vision
The vision of Oakseed Ministries is to faithfully live out
Isaiah 61:1:
“The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord
has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; He has
sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty
to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those
who are bound.”
Oakseed values an incarnational approach to missions.
Indigenous ministry partners are the hands and feet of
Jesus in their service to the urban poor. Oakseed comes
alongside native ministries to break the chains of poverty
and addiction with the power of the gospel.
Our Heart
We desire to facilitate gospel proclamation by indigenous ministries
among the urban poor in the megacities of the developing world. We
want to cultivate hearts of prayer for what God is doing around the globe.

Our Ministry Liaisons
Oakseed’s ministry liaisons help identify potential ministry partners
and determine their suitability for an Oakseed partnership. Through
a process of site visits, checking references, and meeting with the
organization’s leadership, ministry liaisons evaluate potential partners
based on their ministry, reputation, faith, focus, local support, and
community impact. Ministry liaisons also consider how Oakseed
can partner with the ministry and the type of assistance the ministry
would like to receive from Oakseed.
Julian Bull, Ministry Liaison to Southeast Asia
Julian Bull was born in the United Kingdom. Since his
father was a research scientist who traveled widely, Bull
lived in Nigeria, Tanzania, Malaysia, and London prior

“Praise be to God our Lord who gave you such a merciful
heart to Jesus and God’s children. It is always amazing to
learn of your great love and especially how you are laboring
for us during this difficult time when COVID claimed
thousands of lives and paralyzed people’s normal activities
worldwide. With the information about the bazaar gifts for
RHOC, nobody could ever imagine if these great gifts could
come out of such a situation!!! What a mighty Father that we
have!! What a mighty Lord that we serve!!! To Him be the
glory, honor, and dominion forever and ever.”

Breaking the Cycle of Poverty
One Child at a Time:
SPONSOR A CHILD
Consider sponsoring an impoverished child to show the love of Christ.
Your sponsorship will ensure an underprivileged child can attend school,
eat nutritious meals, and receive basic supplies.
Through Oakseed’s sponsorship program, you can help children break
the cycle of poverty through education, the provision of basic needs, and
experiencing a supportive community. You can have confidence your
sponsored child is cared for well by our ministry partners and learning
about Jesus.
As a sponsor you can pray for a specific child, provide for his/her needs,
and cultivate a personal relationship by exchanging messages, pictures,
and videos. It’s easy to review your child’s profile, account records, update
information, and make donations through your online sponsor account.
“From my heart,
I sincerely humble
myself enough to
express our sincere
thanks and our
deep appreciation
for your merciful
decision of
sponsoring Emily,
one of the orphans
at RHOC. Emily is doing well both spiritual
and physically. Emily successfully took her
primary national examination. I am thankful
to God that through your prayers and love, this
young girl will attend high school.”
– Andrew Onserio, RHOC
Emily–Good for you, passing the exams and
getting into the new high school. I am very
proud of you and pray that you will adjust
quickly, make new friends, continue to do
well in your studies, and grow in your love for
Jesus. I am very happy for you.
– “Mum Nancy”
What once felt impossible to an orphan like
Emily—attending high school—became a reality
through an Oakseed sponsorship.
Child sponsorship is a beautiful way to
impact poverty and transform the life of a
needy child!
Visit Oakseed.org/sponsor to find children
waiting for a sponsor like you today. Or
email sponsor@oakseed.org to learn more
about the program. Sponsorship donations
can be made on an annual, quarterly, or
monthly basis.
By sponsoring a crib at Love Link, you can
pray for and sponsor all babies who occupy
that crib. For some babies this means
an extended stay while they are nursed
back to health. Other infants occupy the
crib for a short stay before reuniting with
their families. You’ll be encouraged by the
dramatic impact a Love Link stay has in
the lives of babies and their families!

SUPPORTING INDIGENOUS MINISTRIES IN THE SPREAD OF THE GOSPEL
Prayer Ministries
Prayer Guides
Those on the frontlines of “bringing good news to the poor” need
faithful prayer support. The most important work for Oakseed is
encouraging and equipping people to pray for our ministry partners! A
prayer guide is a great tool to keep by the dinner table or in a Bible for
family devotions or personal prayer. Oakseed also creates free prayer
guides for children. Teach kids how to pray for the urban poor by
requesting a copy.
To receive a prayer guide, or any of Oakseed’s prayer resources, visit
www.oakseed.org/prayer, email info@oakseed.org, or send a request
to: Oakseed Ministries, PO Box 1139, Wheaton, IL 60187.

media for updates and to join others praying worldwide.
5 Ways to Pray for Oakseed Ministry Partners
1. Pray for the health and safety of ministry leaders and volunteers
who often serve in high-risk and dangerous areas.
2. Pray for freedom of those held in physical and spiritual bondage by
addiction, poverty, violence, and sin. Ask God to open doors and set
captives free.
3. Pray for hearts to be open to the gospel and for the opportunity to
proclaim Christ to those who need Him most.
4. Pray for favor in the eyes of government officials and national leaders
who may be skeptical of or antagonistic toward the Christian faith.
5. Pray for provision of practical needs such as places to meet, food
for children, Bibles to distribute, and equipment for job training
programs. Ask God to multiply resources for these ministries.
“We can give all
the money in the
world, but as far as
anything of lasting
eternal value being
done, that only
comes as a result of
prayer.”
