and work of these two artists will be reviewed and compared.
In 1923 the Empire Stadium opened in London. Two
years later it was on the verge of demolition, only to
be saved by a wily entrepreneur. It went on to become
world famous - as Wembley Stadium. Its history,
however, begins not in 1923, but as far back as 1855.
Museum talk by
Helen Gibson
Since 2013 the Community Archaeology Geophysics Group
have been mapping the Roman city of Verulamium. This
talk will briefly introduce the geophysical survey techniques
used and then show some of the latest results: What have
we learnt about the City and how does it compare to other
Roman towns in Britannia and beyond…
The making of malt was the most important
economic activity in East Herts, and the towns
of Ware, Hertford and Bishop’s Stortford were
dependent on this vital industry, now almost
completely ceased.
