GOOGLE PIXEL WATCH
The Google Pixel Watch is
Google’s first Pixel wearable
offering, promising a smooth,
polished experience and hoping
to be regarded as “the Apple Watch of
Androids”. The Pixel Watch also carries
the future of Wear OS as a platform,
and many will be watching to see
whether it will advance the operating
system. The Pixel Watch introduced
features that Wear OS had already
had before Wear OS 3.5. The operating
system has been fully redesigned with
more polish and better attention to
detail in animations and sounds. The
Watch is made to be comfortable to
wear all day and to appear inviting
and helpful. The Google Pixel Watch
starts at a $349 ($399 for the LTE
model), which makes it $50 cheaper
than the Apple Watch, which starts at
$399. Still, at its price point, Google
is setting up its customers with high
expectations from the Watch
For the Pixel Watch, Google went
for an understated and minimalist
look. The Watch is round, with its
protective layer of glass formed into
a dome that elegantly wraps around
the circumference of the Pixel Watch.
Meanwhile, the watch case is made
of stainless steel, comprised of 80%
recycled material.
THE NEW APPLE IPAD PRO
Apple’s newest iPad Pro is a
mature, iterative update of
the best iPad you can buy. It’s
almost 18 months since Apple
updated its iPad Pro (the last release
was in May 2021), and clearly, Apple
saw no reason to change its design—
the new version looks identical to the
last one, even down to the colours.
The biggest news around the latest
iPad Pro is the fresh, competent Apple
M2 processor that powers it. This is
the same M2 chip released earlier
this year in the latest MacBook Pro
13-inch and new-design MacBook Air.
Unsurprisingly, it promises excellent
performance, which Apple says is
faster than any chip in any other
tablet, including its own. Since the Pro
iPads are here to ensure the most
demanding users have a stutter-free,
smooth experience, it makes sense
that Apple would install its latest and
most effective chip.
Apple upgraded both iPad Pro
models for 2022, with the 11-inch iPad
Pro starting at $799 and the 12.9-inch
version starting at $1,099 (this review
focuses on the latter). Both have the
same story—the same design as their
predecessors, with an updated chip
inside.
The other fundamental change to
the iPad Pro lineup is that Apple has
introduced its Apple Pencil Hover
experience. The feature allows you to
hold the tip of the Apple Pencil 12 mm
above the surface without touching the
display. The iPad will then sense the
position and angle of the pencil and
maybe — do something relevant. Its
work was supported across the UI, with
app icons swelling as the Apple Pencil
crosses over the top of them.
This may require more developer buyin
to become ubiquitous.
GIGABYTE G5 SERIES GAMING LAPTOP
The Gigabyte G5 is proof that
the best gaming laptops don’t
necessarily have to break
the bank: it’s one of the most
affordable gaming machines on the
market, yet it’ll still play the best
games out there at 1080p quite
comfortably.
As gaming laptops go, the Gigabyte
G5 is towards the plainer and more
understated end of the spectrum, but
that’s not necessarily a complaint –
it depends on how many colourful
accents and flashing lights you like on
your gaming machine. It’s a reasonably
bulky slab of black plastic, and only
the thickness and the oversized
grilles at the side give away the power
underneath the hood here: even the
Gigabyte lettering on the lid is subtle
and straightforward.
If you’re measuring out some room
on your desk, you need to know that
the laptop has 361 x 256 x 31.8mm
dimensions and weighs in at 2.1kgs.
Gigabyte has been generous with
APPLE MIXED-REALITY HEADSET
In recent months, there have been
numerous speculations regarding
Apple working on a top-secret
headset project. But at the same
time, the rumours are getting more
complicated, with claims that Apple
will use mixed reality (MR) somewhat
of only augmented reality (AR) or
virtual reality (VR).
Next year will see the release
of Apple Inc.’s following significant
product, a mixed-reality headset that
the company hopes will catapult into
a new computing era. However, the
company’s job postings and personnel
changes provide a sneak peek at some
of the device’s capabilities.
The headset will probably cost
between $2,000 and $3,000 because it
is a high-end product with the highest-
the ports, too: you get HDMI 2.0,
DisplayPort 1.4, and Mini DisplayPort
1.2, so you can, in theory, hook up three
external displays. On top of that, you
get three USB-A ports, an SD card
reader, a 3.5mm microphone, and a
3.5mm headphone port. You’ve got
plenty of options for peripherals. As
resolution displays ever included in
a mass-market headset, a Mac-level
M2 chip, and more than ten cameras
inside and outside the device.
far as build quality goes, the laptop
feels very well put together, from the
display hinge to the power button. The
15.6-inch screen runs at a resolution of
1920 x 1080 pixels and offers a refresh
rate of 144Hz or 240Hz, depending on
the model specification you pick and
pay for, for super-fluid motion.
MENA IS THE WORLD’S FASTEST-
GROWING CRYPTO ADAPTER
The Middle East and North Africa region is the fastest-growing cryptocurrency market in the
world, accounting for 9.2 per cent of global digital currency transactions from July 2021 to
June 2022, according to a report by blockchain data platform Chainalysis.
Global crypto adoption
levelled off
Individual investors
in the MENA region
received $566 billion in
cryptocurrencies during the period,
an annual increase of 48 per cent,
Chainlysis said in its 2022 Global
Crypto Adoption Index, which was
dominated by emerging markets.
Global crypto adoption levelled off
after growing consistently since mid-
2019. However, the research found it
has remained well above its pre-bull
market levels in 2019.
In Turkey and Egypt, fluctuating
cryptocurrency prices have coincided
with rapid fiat currency devaluations,
strengthening the appeal of crypto
for savings preservation. The Turkish
lira has inflated by 80.5 per cent in
the last year; the Egyptian pound has
weakened by 13.5 per cent.
Bitcoin plunged from a record
high of about $68,000 last year to
trade at around $19,928, while the
cryptocurrency sector’s market
capitalization has fallen below the $1
trillion mark. According to analysts,
the sector’s rollercoaster ride is far
from over, dragged down by this year’s
equity bear market, global economic
uncertainty, higher interest rates, and
a sharp rise in the cost of living around
the world. Long-term cryptocurrency
holders have continued to hold through
the bear market. While their portfolios
have lost value, those losses aren’t
locked in yet because they haven’t sold,
Chainalysis said. It added that onchain
data suggests those holders are
optimistic the market will bounce back.
CRYPTO & DIGITAL ASSETS
“Users in the lower middle and
upper middle-income countries
often rely on cryptocurrency to send
remittances, preserve their savings
in times of fiat currency volatility and
fulfil other financial needs unique to
their economies,” Chainalysis said.
Chainanalysis and Grauer about MENA
“These countries also lean on Bitcoin
and stablecoins more than other
countries.”
Turkey was the most prominent
cryptocurrency market in the Mena
region, with its citizens receiving
$192bn. However, the report said this
represented slower yearly growth
of 10.5 per cent compared with other
countries in the area. Meanwhile,
Egypt was the MENA region’s fastestgrowing
cryptocurrency market,
having recorded 221.7 per cent growth
in transaction volumes annually.
Saudi Arabia also showed strong
potential as deal volumes grew by 195
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
per cent, said Chainalysis. “In Egypt,
digital currencies are being used as
a means of savings preservation.
Cryptocurrencies are an attractive
means of protection again currency
devaluation,” said Kim Grauer, director
of research at Chainalysis.
“Also significant in the country
is the use of cryptocurrency for
remittances — the country’s national
bank has already begun a project
to build a crypto-based remittance
corridor between Egypt and the UAE,
where many Egyptian natives work.”
Lebanon was ranked third in the MENA
region in terms of cryptocurrency
transaction volumes, which rose by
an annual 120.9 per cent, followed
by Morocco (120.8 per cent), the UAE
(37.2 per cent), and Turkey (10.5 per
cent). The index findings showed
that Emirates recorded $38bn in
cryptocurrency activity in the time
frame compared with $28bn in the
previous year. The exceptional levels of
grassroots cryptocurrency adoption in
Morocco seem to be tied more to the
government’s newly permissive digital
asset stance than to any particular
macroeconomic tailwinds, the report
said. “Adoption in the UAE is driven
by the country’s clear ambitions of
positioning itself as a global crypto
hub,” Ms Grauer said. “Government
support, forward-focused regulations,
mechanisms for consumer protection,
and support for the establishment of
crypto businesses are all driving the
adoption of cryptocurrencies and Web3
technologies in the country.
of the formalities of the office
environment – and many are
not used to this. All are facing new
logistical and productivity challenges,
and cybercriminals have wasted no
time in leveraging this. By launching
campaigns that aim to take advantage
of the new reality, cybercriminals are
using social engineering to trick users
who are typically more distracted
than usual. Despite many businesses
restarting office-based work in the
UAE, there are still many people
relying on online platforms to perform
their daily tasks remotely. Eighty-two
per cent of organizations in the UAE
faced at least one cyber attack in 2019,
with more than half (55 per cent) of
CSOs and CISOs citing human error
and lack of security awareness as one
of the biggest IT security risks.
A FEW RESEARCH ANALYSIS
There are organizations in the UAE
maturing in the way they approach
their cybersecurity strategies.
Different research highlights how
UAE companies are optimistic that
cybersecurity will become more of
a business priority moving forward,
with 50 per cent reviewing their
cybersecurity strategy twice a year or
more and 69 per cent expecting their
cybersecurity budget to rise by 11 per
cent or more over the next two years.
Cyber-attacks increasingly target
people rather than infrastructure,
and this requires a new approach
by organizations: one that puts
employees at the centre of their cyber
threat mitigation plans. It is vital that
organizations in the UAE, as well as
across the globe, recognize the human
factor threat and embrace a peoplecentric
approach to their overall cyber
strategy. A key component of this is a
continuous, customized, and holistic
training program.
The more relaxed home environment
may also lend itself to the potential
bending of cyber security best
practices expected in the office. For
example, using personal machines
for convenience, using corporate
machines for personal activity,
poor password hygiene, or failing to
properly log in and out of corporate
systems.
With the UAE being the second most
targeted country in the region for
cyberattacks, the need for companies
to become cyber resilient has become
of utmost importance.
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM
THE ATTACKS
However, actions now go beyond
firewalls and anti-viruses. Here is how
to keep your infrastructure protected,
according to Dubai-based tech support
and solutions company Geeks:
1. Start with the team:
Cyberattacks usually start at an
individual level. Be sure to educate
and train employees on a regular basis
to increase awareness of security
threats.
2. Conduct regular audits of systems
and software:
Constant reviews of policies and
procedures, as well as reducing users’
privileges to a minimum, will help
reduce potential threat channels.
3. Stay on top of patch updates:
Hackers target vulnerabilities that
were fixed in the latest software
versions in the hopes that companies
have not updated them yet.
4. Implement a solution that covers all
vulnerable channels:
These include emails, web browsers,
and applications. Create information
flow between employees to help
recognize potential phishing attempts.
5. Stay up-to-date on new
technologies:
Just as new hacking methods appear
every day, so do new solutions and
technologies to counter them. Remain
up to date to help your company stay
covered against the newest types of
threats.
6. Backup your data:
Make sure your files are backed up
to prevent a data loss disaster. Do not
forget that it is just as important to
test your backup as it is to have one.
DATA & DATA INTELLIGENCE
ESTABLISHING A TRUSTED DATA
ENVIRONMENT
The ability to detect weak signals, analyze behaviour, combat fraud, and create new
services depends on having the most up-to-date data accessible. The main goal of the Data
Governance Act (DGA), which was recently authorized by the European Council, according to
Frédéric Fourquet, data intelligence product marketing manager at MEGA International, is to
coordinate data exchanges for increased performance and innovation for businesses.
How to Create a Data-
Driven Culture
The Data Governance Act
is a European regulation
on data governance that
aims to transform the practices of
private and public organizations. This
act seeks to organize and control
the future data-sharing market
through the core concepts of security,
compliance, sovereignty, and ethics.
Global data interchange has evolved
into a “Wild West,” and the European
Commission wants to turn it into a
cornerstone of the economy.
This new legal framework’s four
major goals are to support the reuse
of public sector data, develop a new
financial model for data intermediation,
promote this area’s altruism, and
establish a committee encouraging
data innovation.
The Data Governance went into
effect on June 23, 2022, and will be
in effect starting in September 2023
after a 15-month grace period. Several
European nations and businesses
are already leading this change.
The majority of public and private
participants will need to get ready
early to take advantage of this chance.
With the GDPR, Europe was a leader
in data privacy. This law served as
a model for similar laws passed
worldwide, including the California
Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and
Brazil’s LGPD. We may infer that
the Data Governance Act, which
concentrates and perfects all the
greatest ethical data-sharing methods,
may have a similar effect in the years
to come outside of Europe.
Trusted Data Environment: Not only
data integration but data integrity
Based on creating a detailed
framework for data sharing, the
Data Governance Act establishes
a particularly positive incentive
DATA & DATA INTELLIGENCE
The information economy is in full swing right now.
More than ever, businesses can now leverage data and
analytics to improve their operations. Although there
are countless applications for data analysis, managing,
integrating, and cleansing data to make it useful for
decision-making remains difficult.
environment (Data Exchange). Both
on the data supply side and to control
and monitoring the reuse of new
data transferred, it establishes new
responsibilities.
Registered data intermediaries have
been given a new accreditation for
data exchange services. A registered
data intermediary safeguards data
flow under stringent technical and
ethical requirements. This strategy
guarantees openness and confidence
among all parties, which is essential
to ensuring that the European Data
Exchange market is reputable and
follows high standards for data usage.
Regulate Exchanges to Create Value
Globally, the minimum projected
gains from data usage include new
goods and services that boost the
European market’s GDP by 1% to
2.5%. Before competing overseas,
businesses will have an additional
opportunity to establish themselves
as regional innovation leaders.
Companies will have valuable
resources to support R&D and datadriven
AI thanks to streamlined
access and lower purchase costs for
external data. Start-ups and mid-sized
businesses, who previously could
not access or purchase these data
resources, will profit from this.
Protection of All Data Types
The Data Governance Act addresses
the exchange of both personal and
non-personal data. Additionally, it
intends to inspire all public or private
businesses to promote and establish
new exchanges.
These data-related issues haven’t
been properly addressed in the past,
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
but if handled morally and securely,
they might present new opportunities.
Thus, the General Data Protection
Regulation is one of the things that the
DGA depends on (GDPR). The same
security safeguards that apply to nonpersonal
data, such as anonymization
and obtaining the data owner’s
consent, also apply to personal data.
The new DGA is incentive-based;
it allows each party to choose the
requirements for effectively reusing
their data rather than requiring
anybody to make their data available
for free or commercially.
Benefits from DGA
Even though institutions can
promote and advance Data Exchange,
only businesses hold the key to
reaping the rewards of this new data
legislation. Everyone must structure
their data governance and work
toward industrializing it. Let’s face it,
joining this “data-driven” strategy will
need a significant amount of work.
Several obstacles must be addressed,
including compliance, cybersecurity,
identifying opportunities for innovation,
and choosing and implementing
technical solutions.
A new organization and way of
thinking about businesses and their
data-sharing methods are part of
the DGA. Experience has shown that
business line-driven microprojects are
the only sources of true innovation. It
stays fragmented until one topic pops
out and becomes so significant that
senior management takes control of it.
Industrialized Data Governance
Approach
It is feasible to choose fresh
data that aligns with the company’s
strategic objectives and monetize this
data using an industrialized approach
to data governance. A company must
answer these questions: What new
data do I need? to accomplish this?
What are AI-related initiatives active
in my company right now? Which data
trajectory ought I to specify? Who
manages the data governance process
and organizes it?
A huge data market is meaningless
if businesses cannot identify their
data-related areas of innovation, if
they do not yet have access to data
analysis and processing solutions, and
if their data is neither qualified nor
utilized.
The next stage is to designate a
Chief Data Officer (CDO) if the answers
to the questions above have been
provided. And one of the first tasks
in developing a data governance
community is building a data catalogue
that will automatically produce a
business glossary so that everyone
in the data community can speak the
same business language.
The CDO will need to determine
whether sectors are interested in data
monetization and determine the cost
of the data sets. This is encouraging
because it means that new, safe
platforms run by reputable companies
will have been developed to enhance
data dissemination, its capacity for
innovation, and its capacity to support
stakeholders in making better, datadriven
decisions.
When Resident Evil Village
was due to debut, Re:
Verse was postponed to
give it additional polish.
The game vanished from
view but has since begun its beta,
switching from a cell-shaded to a
more photo-realistic appearance.
It’s fantastic to see characters from
various franchise periods placed into
one arena because it’s meant to be
a celebration of everything Resident
Evil. Play as Jack Baker from RE7 as
he slashes characters; he has never
met with his garden shears in this
game. Want to know the outcome of
the Tyrant stalkers’ war between Mr
X from RE2 and Nemesis from RE3?
Well, you can now.
How is a competitive online shooter
celebrating all things Resident Evil,
aside from its charming cast of
characters that tickle our nostalgia?
A series that established itself and
excels when it embraces survival
terror. Resident Evil has always
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
included shooting enemies with
powerful weapons, but not other
players.
Looking at your RE6, Resident Evil’s
forays into mindless action typically
fail. However, the franchise frequently
has its greatest achievements when it
strikes a balance between frightening
us and letting the bullets fly, as in
RE4 and RE: Village. Re: Verse doesn’t
appear to be aware of this, and we
find it difficult to fathom Capcom’s
steadfast desire to engage a market
that we’re beginning to believe does
not exist.
This isn’t to say that multiplayer RE
can’t work; it can. Online functionality
was available in earlier iterations of
The Mercenaries and functioned fairly
well. Unfortunately, Re: Verse wasn’t
an option in Village’s rendition of this
minigame. Also not to be forgotten are
the storied RE Outbreak video games,
which set the standard for multiplayer
Resi.
Re: Verse is not strong enough to
compete with shooters like Modern
Warfare 2 or Overwatch 2. And playing
one of the numerous RE remakes
would be preferable for RE enthusiasts
seeking a burst of nostalgia.
Re: Verse is the Resident Evil
universe-based competitive
multiplayer shooter you’ve always
wanted if you love these games
and enjoy competitive multiplayer
shooters. Fans of the franchise may
find it a nice diversion, but it doesn’t do
much to uphold the series’ legacy.
EVERYWHERE
Anew metaverse mega-metropolis
may be coming soon, and its
name is Everywhere. It was this
year’s first brand-new game to be
unveiled at Gamescom. A confusing
trailer, including gameplay from
at least four different genres, was
shown to the audience. Only when
Build a Rocket Boy, an independent
game creator, explained it easier to
make sense of everything going on. A
“multi-world experience,” according
to their spokesman, is a game “where
gamers may meet, have fun, and build
their own story.” It’s a game that aims
to be everything, a notion that has
historically failed.
The game with the working title of
“Everywhere,” developed by Rockstar
and Grand Theft Auto alumnus Leslie
Benzies, will debut in 2023 from the
Edinburgh-based studio Build A Rocket
Boy.
One of those games that genuinely
strives to allow you to travel
everywhere and complete your
objectives is called Everywhere.
You believed that GTA provided
you freedom? Think again since
Everywhere is here to take over and is
frequently referred to as the GTA killer.
In an entirely new multi-world gaming
experience, Everywhere “seamlessly
integrates gameplay, adventure,
creation, and discovery,” according
to a press release. This experience
“redefines how players connect and
the digital world around them.”
Currently, Everywhere’s description
and trailer could be more precise, and
the official website could provide more
insight into the film’s objectives. Its
Reddit sub is flooded with inquiries
from curious readers. Due to developer
job descriptions for blockchain
technology and the vague description
that sounds like “NFTs in gaming,”
there have been doubts about it being
an NFT and cryptocurrency game.
There is a chance that everything will
integrate NFTs and bitcoin because
Build a Rocket Boy has responded
that they are merely studying the
technology. However, a lot about the
game is still up in the air.
Actually, though the company appears
to have a sizable crew and is adding
many new employees, it still seems
to be a lot of work. Even with industry
experts on the team, it seems
improbable that an ambitious game
from a studio with no prior releases
will be ready in time. Previous
initiatives like Identity, Yogventures,
and Areal made similar promises but
eventually failed in development. Even
those that were released frequently
fell short of expectations. Everywhere
might be the next open-world game
to forget, or even worse, it might end
up being yet another NFT game with
hollow promises.
DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
UAE AND US
EMPHASISE
SMOOTH DATA
TRANSMISSION
TO BUILD A
ROBUST DIGITAL
ECONOMY
The UAE and the US, the largest economy in the world, signed a joint agreement on
data transmission across borders and discussed the significance of data collecting and
transmission. According to Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for Digital Economy, AI, and
Remote Working System, the UAE is committed to working with the US and establishing
practical international cooperation to drive sustainable growth in the digital economy.
Mr Al Olama said the
collaboration with
the US reflects the
UAE’s global message
on the importance
of promoting partnerships and joint
initiatives between governments,
solidifying international stability and
economic cooperation.
Mr Al Olama held a meeting with
Arun Venkataraman, assistant
secretary of commerce for global
markets and director general of the
US and foreign commercial service,
Sean Murphy, Charge d’Affaires at the
US embassy in Abu Dhabi, and Meghan
Gregonis, US consul general in Dubai.
He said the meeting reaffirmed
the importance of building digital
foundations based on data, knowledge
and innovation. It will also enhance
the ability to collect data and facilitate
its transmission across borders to
ensure the development of the digital
economy, sharing solutions to pressing
challenges and developing digital
systems to achieve rapid growth in
trade and the digital economy, Mr Al
Olama added.
“Today’s announcement signals our
countries’ commitment to ensuring
robust data privacy protections,
which are crucial to innovation and
development of the digital economy
and the future of US-UAE trade,” Mr
Venkataraman said.
The meeting also discussed the
expected benefits of accelerating
digital transformation in the global
economy and increasing the use of
technology to supply services.
It touched on the importance
of empowering the workforce
and consumers, enhancing risk
management capabilities and
increasing innovation and economic
growth.
Since 2009, the UAE has been the
number one export market for US
goods in the Middle East and North
Africa.
Last year, bilateral trade reached
$23.03 billion, with the US exporting
more than $17bn of goods and services
to the UAE — a 16 per cent increase
from 2020, official figures said.
This robust trade relationship
reflects the success of the UAE’s
increasingly diverse economy, of which
non-oil sectors account for nearly 70
per cent.
Earlier this month, the UAE and
the US signed an agreement to invest
$100bn to produce 100 gigawatts of
clean energy globally by 2035.
Games based on the Dragon
Ball franchise have
historically fallen into
two primary categories.
Fighting games are the
most prominent genre, as evidenced
by titles like the superbly produced
Dragon Ball FighterZ from a few years
back. The second category is action
RPGs that incorporate elements of
fighting games, such as Dragon Ball Z:
Kakarot and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers, released
by Bandai Namco in 2022, is a new
entry in the Dragon Ball franchise.
Dragon Ball: The Breakers is a
multiplayer survival game that can
only be played online instead of a
traditional fighting game.
The gameplay of Dragon Ball: The
Breakers is comparable to that of
games like Predator: Hunting Grounds
and Dead by Daylight. In these games,
one player takes on the role of a
monster who must eliminate every
other team member.
In the game Dragon Ball: The
Breakers, there are seven players,
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
and the monsters are Cell, Frieza, or
Buu. The remaining seven players are
regular people without Goku’s or other
Z fighters’ unique abilities.
The game Dragon Ball: The Breakers
has a nice tutorial that is very long and
is led by the character Trunks. You can
design your human character, and he
will instruct you to withstand hostile
character attacks.
The game’s Practice mode is another
fantastic feature. It’s incredibly
beneficial. Before playing with and
against real online gamers, you may
essentially learn how to survive in
Practice mode. Before choosing to
begin playing the game for real money,
you are free to use the practice mode
as many as you like.
You can select your preferred
fighting style and skin type before the
game begins. For instance, you can
play as your original character or one
of the many well-known Dragon Ball
characters. You can also play as other
characters, such as Oolong the pig and
Bulma.
In Dragon Ball: The Breakers, there
are different strategies you can use to
help your team win games. Depleting
the Raider’s life bar is the trickiest way
for the team to triumph. Using the Z
fighters’ brief special abilities, you can
use a bazooka or team up with other
players to combat.
FIVE WAYS THE METAVERSE COULD
BE REVOLUTIONARY FOR PEOPLE
WITH DISABILITIES
The concept of virtual
mobility has long been
used to describe how the
internet can provide an
accessible alternative to
activities that usually require physical
mobility. Virtual mobility was in
full swing during the pandemic, as
work, entertainment, and socializing
efficiently moved online. The Metaverse
– the next phase of the internet
powered by virtual and augmented
reality (VR and AR) – has the potential
to take things even further.
This article will investigate the
potential of the Metaverse to introduce
life-changing benefits for disabled
and older people, as well as develop
solutions to improve its accessibility
and inclusivity.
Five ways the Metaverse could
be revolutionary for people with
disabilities:
1. Social life
The benefits of conventional social
media for disabled people have been
long established. Designed well,
social spaces in the Metaverse will
advance these benefits through virtual
social reality, which mimics in-person
interaction and permit people to
interact freely without obstacles in
the physical world. Notably, users
in Metaverse platforms like Meta’s
Horizon Worlds can represent
themselves using virtual avatars.
Research suggests that virtual avatars
are a means through which some
disabled people reflect aspects of their
disability as a central part of their
identity.
Others may self-represent through
avatars that are imagined. The
Metaverse gives users freedom and
creativity regarding how they want to
be seen and eliminates preconceptions
that disabled and older people might
face when interacting with others in
person.
2. Education
The Metaverse can potentially
improve the range and quality of
education delivery pathways available
to disabled users and late-life
learners. Immersive technologies
mean that higher education can be
delivered engagingly without requiring
physical attendance.
This delivery mode would eliminate
some factors that exclude many people
from accessing quality education,
such as needing to move away from
home or travel to a physical campus.
There are also numerous opportunities
to use the Metaverse for remote
coaching, personal development, and
skills training.
3. Work
A recent survey by Microsoft found
that only 16% of the 31,102 survey
participants, across generations,
did not see themselves carrying out
at least some of their job duties as
“metawork” shortly. The pandemic has
shown how quickly we can adjust to
new working methods. Many people
expect to work in the metaverse one
way or another.
The Metaverse can provide access to
the types of work that one’s disability
or age might otherwise make it
difficult for them to access in the
physical world. A growing community
of designers is getting ready to create
virtual interiors that will exist only
within the Metaverse. Other areas
with attractive metaverse-based job
prospects are digital fashion, real
estate, and building the Metaverse
itself.
4. Entertainment and leisure
The pandemic brought music to
the digital world in new ways, with
artists from Travis Scott to Ariana
Grande performing in virtual spaces.
Gigs in the Metaverse are just one
entertainment option – virtual cinemas,
theatre performances, and museum
and gallery exhibitions are already
taking place. Tourism is another arena
where the Metaverse can provide
opportunities to travel through digital
environments. Tourists could also
explore remote physical locations from
the comfort of home through a virtual
reality headset, making travel more
accessible and affordable.
5. Healthcare and wellbeing
The Metaverse can also become
a powerful platform in the medical
world, useful in different fields of
medicine. For example, extended
reality (XR) simulation can be used
for various types of medical education
and training, such as emergency
response and mental health. VR and
AR can also enhance medical imaging
in radiology and support diagnostics,
treatment planning, and medical
research. Another area of medicine
where the Metaverse has potential
is telemedicine. VR can facilitate
remote consultation, especially
24 / December 2022
www.thetechnologyexpress.com

WEB3
where the medical personnel is not
geographically available, like in many
rural regions. It is worth noting that
the Metaverse is not meant to replace
life and experiences in the physical
world but to offer new options.
However, for its potential to come to
fruition, the Metaverse must be built to
be accessible, inclusive, and equitable
across the spectrum of ability and age.
This applies not just to the functional
aspects but also the social elements.
Other challenges with privacy, security,
safety, communication, and ethical
behaviour are also likely to emerge.
2023 TOYOTA SUPRA 3.0L GR
The 2023 GR Supra, Toyota’s
pinnacle sports vehicle, makes
up for the brand’s more subdued
sedans, hatchbacks, and SUVs with
enough thrills, panache, and drama.
The GR Supra, created and constructed
alongside the BMW Z4 convertible,
has comparable build quality and
less complex but attractive interior
elements. Although the 255-hp
turbocharged four-cylinder engine
at the base level offers more than
enough power, we can’t help but
appreciate the savage, optional 382-hp
turbocharged 3.0-liter BMW inline-six
that propels this two-seater. The only
configuration is rear-wheel drive, and
the GR Supra excels on winding roads
and race tracks thanks to its surefooted
chassis and precise steering.
Even so, the GR Supra continues to
be one of our favorite sports cars.
BMW parts might too heavily influence
it for certain Toyota fanboys, and its
sweptback external design produces
some relatively wide blind spots. It is a
driver’s vehicle and a lover’s delight.
Toyota has introduced a six-speed
manual transmission to the lineup
for the 2023 model year, no doubt
motivated by the complaints over
the GR Supra’s absence of a manual
transmission. The more potent 3.0-liter
LATEST TECH
MCLAREN IS USING NEW
TECHNOLOGY TO CHANGE SPONSOR
LOGOS ON THE CAR IN REAL TIME
As part of an exclusive deal
that the Woking-based
squad has signed with
British company Seamless
Digital, McLaren cars
will run with the new technology in
practice sessions for the remainder of
the season.
By using the new technology,
McLaren has achieved a first by
enabling the team to modify the
branding on its cars during a race.
The technology will debut at the USGP
and be utilized up to the end of the
current campaign, although only during
practice sessions.
To deploy the technology, which
enables branding or messages on
panels next to the cockpit opening to
be altered while the car is in motion,
McLaren has agreed with British
business Seamless Digital for several
years.
Although it is being used
experimentally this season, with
Android branding one of those being
run using the technology and initial
logos related to its Google partnership,
it is hoped that its use can be
expanded in the future and could also
be implemented in McLaren’s broader
racing portfolio before F1.
Two display modules will surround
MCL36 cockpits. They will be on each
side of the driver, according to images
released by the team.
According to Louise Evans, executive
director of brand and marketing at
McLaren, one of the most exciting
advancements in digital advertising
technology. The group anticipates that
it will enable them to offer its partners
more versatile branding alternatives.
We are eager to see how this will
affect the more significant business
since being able to switch out the
brands on our automobiles is a gamechanger
in our market, Evans said.
For its other racing endeavours,
which include IndyCar, Extreme E,
and, starting in 2023, Formula E, the
team is considering implementing the
technology.
When it added the Google Chrome
browser’s branding to its wheel hubs
earlier this year, McLaren claimed
another advertising first. Lighted
intersections were tested in the team’s
postseason testing from the previous
year.
Seamless Digital created the
technology that will be in use starting
this weekend. “This is only the
beginning of flexibility on automobile
branding and motor racing assets,”
CEO Mark Turner remarked.
“By making sure the technology runs
on a Formula 1 car, we have already
broken the hardest area to innovate
and are going to disrupt advertising
throughout F1, motorsport, golf, US
sports, and ultimately wider more
popular use,” says the company.
According to Turner, marketers
utilize the screens to “deliver
situationally appropriate messaging.”
To cater to local markets or account
for changes in regulations, several
sponsors already change their logos
and designs from race to race.
GENERATED HUMANS: AI CREATES
100,000 FULL-BODY IMAGES OF PEOPLE
WHO DON’T EXIST
People who don’t keep up with the current trends may be startled by some of the new
possibilities AI opens up. AI technology is developing quickly.
AI is making it simpler
and easier to create
convincing-looking
but completely phoney
images of individuals. One
business is now trying to put these
images to use by making 100,000 AIgenerated
faces available to everyone
for free. Many photographs appear
false, although some are hard to tell
apart from pictures obtained through
stock photo agencies.
Generated Photos is one of the
many AI companies producing realistic
photographs of hypothetical humans.
Faces were initially present, but now
those faces also have bodies.
The project, Generated Humans, is a
collection of 100,000 free whole-body
photographs of humans who appear
genuine but are entirely artificial. The
business claims that depending on how
it plays out, and this series may either
be the “worst nightmare of modelling
agencies” or the start of “new amazing
chances.”
The benefits of these nonexistent
models include never having to worry
about likeness rights and not having
to sign model releases. The “pictures”
are GDPR and CCPA compliant, claims
Generated Photos.
The designers developed a
proprietary dataset by capturing
thousands of photographs of
individuals in its studio, from which
the full-body shots are drawn. The
company claims that because the
images are shot in a controlled
setting, “we can ensure that each face
has a consistent look and quality.”
Additionally, several races are shown
to make up for the lack of diversity in
machine learning and fashion.
After inputting into several
generative adversarial networks
(GANs), the images are then used
to create subjects that have never
previously been seen.
As long as you provide link
acknowledgement to generate photos,
you may use the photographs for free
for non-commercial uses. The staff
assures you that you won’t need to
“think about legal problems.” However,
licenses are required for those wishing
to use AI-generated characters in
commercial endeavours.
A group of twenty AI and
photography professionals called
Generated Photos believes that
Generated Humans would have “even
greater job possibilities” than AIgenerated
faces. The models in the
metaverse, art, fashion, game creation,
merchandising, academic research,
and machine learning, among other
Uses of Technology
The corporation acknowledges that
its product has been used in some
unusual ways. The prevention of crime
is one such instance.
“Our images aid law enforcement in
the United States to demonstrate the
coronavirus’s enormous effects on
the nation. Each of the 535,000 faces
represented a victim of the illness.
Another intriguing instance included
a retired librarian who battled age
discrimination by applying for remote
Cybersecurity Analyst
The companies that offer financial
services using technology or some
of being attacked. Because these
applications only run with the help
of the Internet, so the chances of the
data being hacked are high. These data
mainly contains personal information
like bank details, credit number, and
various other data. If the data is not
properly handled, it will cause a great
loss. Hence such companies should
ensure that they are well secured and
make sure that they use the latest
cyber security services in order to
Financial Analyst
If you like numbers and analyzing
the success of a business, think about
becoming a fintech financial analyst.
A financial analyst helps businesses
make better decisions by compiling
and analyzing financial information.
This might include macroeconomic
data, such as what is going on in the
global economy, as well as figures
specific to the company. An analyst
uses this information to create a
financial model for the company and
identify areas in which expenses
can be cut, revenue can be grown,
and the company can make more
money. Review and analyze trends
of expenses, revenues, and losses
to identify opportunities to improve
performance. Review the budget
on a monthly basis to ensure the
organization is meeting its financial
objectives and ensure proper
resolution of major variances in budget
Provide direction in determining
the way financial information will
accounting activities for company
entities, including reconciliation of
accounts and accounting entries.
Ensure the reliability of the financial
reporting (internal and external
reporting). Preparing the accounts for
company entities by applying all the
valuations and accounting rules laid
down by the relevant accounting laws
and regulations are some of the tasks
performed by analysts in the Fintech
industry.
Quant Analyst
Historically in the financial markets,
technology was deployed quite early
to assist with data processing and
task automation. As Modern Portfolio
Theory emerged in the 1950s and
1960s, the use of machines was a
natural fit for those seeking to analyze
stocks, assess the efficient frontier,
and engage in portfolio optimization.
With the rise of option pricing and
quant trading in the 1970s and 1980s,
computers became a cornerstone of
the derivatives market. In the early
1990s, electronic trading platforms
were introduced and pushed the
global expansion of the stock, bond,
and credit markets through the 2000s.
For quant finance, in particular, the
spectacular growth in the volume
and variety of data has driven intense
activity in machine learning in the
2010s, and that effort continues today.
FITNESS, LIFESTYLE & FASHION TECHNOLOGY
HIGH FASHION AND HIGH TECH
The global fashion industry has
evolved and transformed at a rapid
pace in recent years, mostly due to
the influence of new technology. While
most people are probably aware of
the mutually beneficial relationship
between the fashion industry
and social media platforms, the
transformation that’s taken place is not
just skin-deep.
High-end luxury brands making good
of technology
Over the past years, major brands
such as Burberry, Tom Ford, and
Ralph Lauren have turned the fashion
industry on its head by launching
“see now, buy now” campaigns that
allow consumers to immediately
purchase pieces straight off the
catwalk (when they would otherwise
have to wait months). These brands
rely increasingly heavily on new
technology to efficiently manage their
supply chains and ensure real-time
product availability while effectively
capitalizing on digital media to
generate brand interest. Depending on
who you ask, high fashion might mean
classic Parisian ateliers like Chanel
or Bode’s one-of-a-kind bespoke upcycled
pieces. The same focuses pop
up: high-quality materials, immaculate
tailoring, and of course, hours and
hours of handmade craftsmanship that
elevates garment-making from a skill
to an art form.
This work can include intricate
patterns of embroidered sequins,
layers of fluffy tulle, or even a sleek
little black dress; what matters is that
it draws on years of human expertise
and developed techniques. The sprayon
dress at Coperni’s recent Spring/
Summer 2023 show poses a new and
interesting question.
Ten minutes: That’s how long it
took for Bella Hadid to go from nude
underwear to fully dress. She strutted
down the runway in a dress made on
the spot with synthetic fibres sprayed
onto her body and swiftly tailored by
Coperni’s head of design, Charlotte
Raymond, to include a draped neckline
and thigh-high slit. It was sleek, chic,
and a little sexy. It also defied any
notion of traditional dress-making — a
bold reimagination of what it means to
make a garment.
Applications using technology in the
fashion industry
Pinterest is another app service
shaping the way people experience
fashion. With 150 million monthly
users, Pinterest allows the opportunity
to advertise to a targeted audience,
and they are rolling out new features
to address this. Although still in beta,
the app is working on a search tool
that allows people to use their camera
lens to search for an item, giving
them similar styles or what to wear
with it for inspiration. It is incredible
technology for the app to recognize
what something is, search for other
options, and give styling advice. They
have also released ‘Shop The Look’,
enabling specific things within the pin
to be selected, taking the consumer
through to purchase.
Virtual reality is another technology
that is on the cusp of mainstream.
Wearing a headset, consumers can
be fully immersed in an alternate
reality, adding a depth of experience
to a brand or product. Tommy Hilfiger
utilized this tech in 2015, adding VR
headsets to his stores which enabled
the consumer to “attend” a fashion
show, see the collection on the
THE RISING ROLE OF TECHNOLOGY IN
FASHION
runway, and even go backstage. In the
alternate reality version of the show,
you can walk amongst the models
and see the garments up close. The
consumer can then purchase from the
collection in-store.
Connecting with the consumer
Connecting with the consumer
is no doubt imperative to a
brand’s success. With the
development and efficiency
of chatbots, brands can
provide personalized help
to their customer while they
are on their website. Chatbots,
in this context, are essentially digital
sales assistants that use artificial
intelligence to help online shoppers.
David Fischer, CEO and founder of
online publication Highsnobiety,
says using chatbots to assist
with their online store can
deliver news faster than ever
before. Currently using the chatbots
exclusively to keep customers up to
date with new sneaker releases, the
bots aim to build a loyal relationship
with fans who visit the site every day.
The global fashion industry is worth
approximately $3 trillion dollars.
As fashion and technology become
virtually inseparable as we move
forward, this figure will only increase
over time. With the help of technology,
the fashion industry can reach its full
potential in every part of its supply
chain. Technology benefits, not only
brands like Rebecca Minkoff that
experience increased revenues but
also consumers who are granted
more convenience and accessibility
when making purchase decisions. For
the fashion industry, the tech trend is
definitely here to stay.
IBC, We Are Growth Hackers, TheRoundtable Club and NFT Technologies.
Exclusive to The Technology Express
A brief introduction of yours
highlighting your major milestones &
achievements
Major milestones include launching
my first business and e-commerce
business from nothing to seven figures
in the first year and to eight figures in
year two.
So that’s milestones number one
and two, and then starting the biggest
event in the health and wellness
space in Australia the next year, and
then getting into b2b with IBC in the
crypto space in 2017, launching it from
almost nothing to one of the biggest
consulting firms in the crypto space in
2017 and 2018.
Then getting scammed and lost
millions and still survived in 2018 as
both of my companies, Froothie and
IBC, got heavily screwed in the same
year. Both of them are doing incredibly
well and achieving record numbers
this year. Co-founded NFT Tech and
took it public on the stock market in
2021. These are probably my major
milestones, and obviously, I became an
international Bachata artist in 2020, So
I travel the world dancing the Bachata
at events. I would also like to mention
migrating as a kid from a third-world
country to Australia and being able to
adapt pretty well. This is potentially
another milestone. Lastly am travelling
the world and speaking at events as
of 2020-2021 and doing it on a regular
basis. One final thing I’ll add which is
launching the roundtable, which is the
biggest weekly live event in crypto in
2022.
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
Throughout your journey in building
and investing in companies, can
you summarize the most important
elements of entrepreneurship and
leadership?
I’ll put it into three categories from
least important to most important. All
three are very important, but I’ll list
them in order of importance. Again, the
least important one is working hard.
So, all else being equal, the person
who works that extra day, that
works that extra hour will end up
winning. All the extra work hours
and efforts will keep adding up and
eventually compound so working
hard is extremely important. Number
two, which is more important, is
making sure you’re doing the right
thing, if you’re working hard building
a restaurant in an African country,
it’s going to be pretty difficult selling
kebabs in some African country to
make millions, not impossible just
difficult. If you put in that same effort
building an incubator in crypto or a
business in the psychedelic space in
an advanced economy, your likelihood
to succeed is significantly higher
because you’re doing something that
has higher returns on every hour
of work. So that’s the second most
important thing.
And then the third most important
thing is timing. If you were launching
a crypto business in 1995, I’m giving
an extreme example, it’s not going
to work because crypto didn’t exist
back then. People were still figuring
out the Internet, but if you launched it
in 2014, 2015, and 2016, when nobody
was paying much attention to the
space, you don’t have to do much to
be successful because your timing is
spot on.
So, I would say work hard, do the
right thing and do it at the right time.
There is a great video by Bill Gross that
I always refer to, if you go on Google
and type Bill Gross’s Ted Talk, you
will get a TED speech where he gives
examples of how timing is the most
important factor for success based on
his research.
Those three are the main success
elements of entrepreneurship,
working hard, doing the right thing,
and timing. For leadership, I’d add one
more element which is important for
success as well, and that is the ability
to understand and deal with people
because you can get everything wrong,
except hiring the right people and
managing them well and I made sure
to do that in launching IBC with very
little knowledge about crypto, that was
possible by hiring the right people
around me back in 2017 until I built
up my skill set. So, if you manage to
hire someone that will make sure you
do the right thing. Hire someone that
will do all the work for you and do the
execution. Hire someone else to figure
out the timing. Hire a hybrid financial
person, a marketing person etc. All you
have to do is to manage them well. It
is kind of playing politics dealing with
people, you have to motivate people.
Make sure to implement all the basics
that give you everything you need to
achieve success.
COVER STORY
Being a very busy man, how do you
manage to keep upskilling yourself
consistently?
I used to read a lot of books until
I realized that the market especially
in crypto changes so fast that books
become outdated pretty quickly. If it’s a
book about human emotions, humans
are humans, if it’s a book about
fundamentals of life, life is life, if it is
a book about chemistry, chemistry is
chemistry. Suppose it’s a book about
the Internet, digital marketing, or of
course crypto, the space changes
so fast that books are not the best
option. So to learn and gain knowledge
about crypto, I’m a lot more podcasts
oriented, and that is how I learned
being an audio guy. So, I learn better
and absorb information better
when it’s audio because I have to do
something while learning like getting
a massage, travelling, exercising, or
taking a shower. I have to be doing
something because if I’m doing nothing
but listening, my ability to absorb
information is severely diminished
when I’m not doing anything else. The
first thing one should do is understand
how they learn. Obviously, you can’t
learn if you don’t know the best way
you tend to absorb information, and
the second thing is I’ll make sure I
learn the right thing because there’s
so much information. There’s massive
information overload. So, the ability
to get my information from the right
sources is number two.
There are some things I will always
do no matter how much money I have,
for example flying commercial. I’ll
always fly commercial no matter how
much money I make. Because I have
gone through the process of flying so
many times it became a monotonous
task, going through security, sitting
in a café, walking around the airport,
I’ve gone through this process
dozens if not hundreds of times that
it’s a monotonous task for me and
it’s a perfect time for me to absorb
information so I tend to learn the most
at an airport.
While receiving knowledge and
learning you should pay attention to
actions or what we call action steps.
So, while you’re learning, you’re
gonna forget very quickly what you’ve
learned. So, you have to act on what
you learned pretty quickly. I used to
use my smartwatch all the time and
record voice notes on it, right now I
use my phone. Whenever a good idea
comes to my mind I make sure to list it
and I immediately take action because
I know the human brain forgets really
quickly. So that’s my tip, learn how you
learn, do that every spare minute you
have, and take action throughout the
process and never depend on your
memory.
How do you see crypto and digital
assets being integrated with the
startup funding ecosystem?
It is done through a better
understanding of tokenomics and
token structure. So, when tokens were
pumping in 2017 and again in 2021, VCs
flocked to the scene.
They loved tokens and everyone
wanted to invest in tokens. Why?
Because they were pumping. But the
problem is they didn’t understand
tokenomics or token structure.
The first step is understanding
how that works. If you just buy a
token because you think it will pump,
you’ll end up buying tokens that are
structurally flawed and that will dump
just as quickly as we saw some tokens
plunging down by more than 99%, even
though they had a great team and they
were building up in a fast pace and
most importantly they were not a scam
project. They just had a fundamental
flaw in the tokenomics and it’s not
just about having utility, does the
utility work? How does that integrate
with some projects that raise money
through NFT tokens and equity? Where
is the value congregated?
Understanding is probably the
biggest hurdle right now for investors
on both sides of the fence because a
lot of investors are jumping into tokens
without understanding how they work.
At the same time, there are a lot of
people avoiding investing in tokens
because again, they don’t understand
how the value flows through the
ecosystem when there is a token built
into it.
So, I go back to the same thing I
always say in the space that education
is heavily needed and the same applies
to NFTs. What role do NFTs have to
play in whatever ecosystem has been
built? A lot of places are building an
ecosystem that includes tokens and
NFTs and they have equity as well.
The best example is Yuga Labs and
the Board Ape Yacht Club, they started
with an NFT then they raised an equity
round, and then they did a token drop.
They’ve done a really good job at
it, and as a result the whole token
structure and the token economics
started making sense. But it’s very,
very, very difficult to pull it off.
What does IBC Group offer to the
technology community here in the
UAE?
Incubation and guidance. One thing I
found in the ecosystem here in Dubai
is that there’s a lot of money flowing
around and a lot of talent. There
is a strong lack of understanding,
especially by investors in the
ecosystem.
What is the Metaverse? What are
NFTs? People still look at NFTs as
digital art and collectables. What is the
Metaverse? What are NFTs? How will
the ecosystem look a few years from
now?
Understanding the tech and
investing in the right places, Dubai
investors want to support the space,
but they also don’t have enough people
guiding them in the right direction,
everyone’s chasing their money. So
recently we started to try, we are
working hard to educate the traditional
money here in Dubai, there’s a lot of
it about the space so don’t waste your
assets by deploying them in the wrong
places.
We are advising investors to build
those relationships. We are trying to
support more Dubai-based projects to
make sure they have the right token
structure, the right tokenomics, and
the right utility for the NFTs when
they launch them, make sure they get
the support of the NFT community
and ecosystem, which is extremely
important for an NFT project success
because a lot of projects are still
following Web2 rules and traditional
rules for fundraising and building
businesses without understanding the
important differences Web3 requires to
succeed.
I say this again. A lot of businesses
are following Web2 rules to build a
business and raise money for that
business. Ignoring the intricate
42 / December 2022
www.thetechnologyexpress.com

COVER STORY
differences within the Web3 ecosystem
which are extremely important and
almost needed for project success. To
our surprise, we did a lot of research
to get to this conclusion.
What are the factors that you take into
consideration before investing in a
startup or SME?
1. Understanding of tokenomics and
token structure
2. Understanding of the space
3. The team and how important their
credibility is to them
4. Who are their advisors and
backers
But how much thought is put into
token structure, tokenomics, and
long term rather than focusing on the
short-term, height and launch of the
project are very important for me and
the utility of the token as well, which
goes back to the first idea of token
structure and tokenomics.
What are some of the real-life utilities
that you predict NFTs will serve?
NFTs are just digital ownership.
Look at everything we own right now
in the physical world and see how
that would apply to the digital world
identity. You’re going to own your own
identity virtually, whether it’s a version
of the physical identity you have or a
whole new identity you build online. Ingame
assets, being able to own assets
within a game, trade and move them
from game to game is going to become
the norm.
Most assets in the physical world
will likely have a digital representation
of them just because of the benefits
of immutability and the ability to
transfer them very efficiently without
the need for intermediaries. Financial
instruments, tokenization of financial
instruments and there are just so
many the list goes on. Just looking at
the physical things that we own and
seeing how we can replicate them in
the digital world should be of sufficient
answer for someone to come up with
like hundreds of examples.
How do you foresee the future of the
financial market moving forward?
It is a question I don’t usually answer
because it’s so impossible to know.
But I’ve just had so many smart people
come on my show week after week,
and I’ve listened to their answer time
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
and time again and my conclusion
really hasn’t changed, the smartest
people disagree.
I just have a thesis of investing
when there’s blood in the waters
when everyone’s scared and everyone
seems pretty scared right now.
Even though I just don’t see enough
reasons to be scared or as scared as
they are. There’re reasons I just don’t
think they’re sufficient. I just don’t
see the war in Ukraine escalating
to Armageddon levels considering
those two assumptions of fear, the
risk assets are going to do well in the
near term and the long term, thanks
to globalization, our economy has
just become so complex, it’s such
a complicated economy. I just think
crypto is well positioned very early,
growing a lot faster than expected
and getting adoption a lot faster than I
expected. For me it’s a no-brainer as a
place to put in capital and more of my
time.
What advice do you have for new
investors in the crypto space?
Two points of advice. Understand it.
Because when you understand it you’re
going to be extremely excited when
you understand what NFTs are. It’s not
just art or collectables.
Your whole perspective is going to
change. I’ve had so many traditional
investors that were sceptical of NFTs
and after I explained to them very
objectively what NFTs are, some
of them invested on the spot. They
invested like hey Mike, can you buy me
an NFT? Or where can I deploy capital
or can you help me invest? Multiple
times, all I did was explain to them that
NFTs are not art or collectables. It’s
digital ownership, art and collectables
can be NFTs, but it’s a very small
percentage of what the technology is.
Their whole mindset changed after
I explained to them what NFTs are
and understanding what the open
Metaverse means is enough to change
the entire view of the space. I’m talking
about traditional investors that don’t
understand the space. Crypto investors
just look at what happened in 2017,
2018, 2019, and 2020. If you’re feeling
hurt by the current bear market, just
remember that this happened time and
time again. I should be more excited
right now to deploy more capital rather
than being hurt and scared.
Lastly, what message do you have for
our readers?
The best piece of advice I can
give anyone is to understand human
emotions.
Once you understand that, as
humans, we’re like sheep and we have
FOMO and we start getting scared
when everyone else is scared. You
start to realize that what you feel is
the right decision could very well be
the wrong decision. What do I mean by
this? When everyone was talking about
every Metaverse being worth billions,
if not trillions in 2021.
You’ll be like, hey, everyone’s
talking about this because everyone’s
throwing money at this.
I should be sceptical because it
just doesn’t add up. It doesn’t make
sense that something that didn’t exist
a year ago is suddenly worth trillions
in people’s minds. Every Metaverse
project is pumping 100x logically
doesn’t make sense. So, understanding
human emotions and understanding
that the ability to be a contrarian at
the right time is probably one of the
most financially rewarding things you
can do and that will give you a massive
edge in crypto, it’s easy to understand
what I just said, but it’s extremely
difficult to practice because of human
emotions. When everyone is scared,
it’s probably a good time for you to
start getting involved and getting more
interested in a certain investment or
asset class. I know it’s nothing new
for most people, but it’s funny enough
that people still don’t practice it, a year
ago, they thought the world was going
to be changed because of blockchain a
year later the world’s coming to an end
and Cryptocurrencies are dead. That’s
insane!
MARKETING TECH
WHY IS
MARKETING
TECHNOLOGY
IMPORTANT?
I
n today’s world, falling behind
in technology means falling
behind your rivals. Whether you
work in business, agriculture,
or education, technology is
everywhere. Naturally, marketing falls
under this as well. But did you know
that marketing technology goes by
another name?
As you can see, the alternate
moniker for marketing technology is
“MarTech,” which is just the two words
put together. What is it, then?
MarTech, or marketing technology,
is a general term that represents
technologies used by marketers
to make their tasks easier. Digital
marketing typically uses these
technologies. Offline marketing
channels can also be optimized using
marketing technology, or MarTech.
Marketing technology is a crucial
component of every organization. But –
What is the importance of
Marketing Technology/ MarTech?
The importance of MarTech can be
summed up in one sentence: It makes
marketing more accessible, efficient,
and convenient for marketers and
Customers.
MarTech, or marketing technology,
is a collective term for all the
technological tools employed in
contemporary marketing. As a result, it
manages the entire marketing process
from beginning to end and strengthens
the customer bond.
Benefits of Marketing Technology/
MarTech
Getting into specifics, the following
are the top benefits of Marketing
Technology/ MarTech:
1. Faster Marketing: Since employing
MarTech will give you the ability to
complete marketing tasks more
quickly, this is a given. You may
save time using automation bots
and programs to perform repetitive
tasks like file format conversion,
scheduling, and asset discovery.
You can also delegate the analysis
of current trends and the creation
of a list of potential industries for
your marketing campaign to the
automation bots.
2. Better Communication: You may have
a fluid channel for communication
with your consumers by employing
components like CRM and Social
Media Manager. Additionally, you
may improve the distribution of
work and the effectiveness of your
company’s workflow channels
by using a CMS and a few other
technologies. As a result, marketing
is quicker and more effective.
3. Smarter Contents: You can use
various MarTech (marketing
technology) solutions to produce
better content. You can gather
enough information to develop
personalized content geared to
draw clients in your niche by
using insights from SEO tools,
trend research, and customers
from analytics. You may improve
performance, give customers a
better experience, and deliver
targeted information.
4. Build Better Relations: Better
communication and “smarter
content” go hand in hand with this
advantage of marketing technology.
Gaining your client’s trust will be
simpler after you open a line of
communication with them and
meet their needs. They convey their
worries and expectations more
clearly as you gain their trust. As
a marketer, you may use this as a
valuable source of information to
give your customers the services
and goods they want.
5. Generate Better leads: One of the
most significant advantages of
marketing technology is the ability
to produce better leads. Looking for
top trends to create engaging digital
commercials and other marketing
campaigns to draw potential
prospects is simple. Additionally, you
may use data analytics with MarTech
to evaluate the effectiveness of your
marketing effort. You can produce
better leads by integrating your
toolkit with some work.
6. Better ROI (Return on Investment):
You may improve your return on
investment by combining automation,
analysis, and management systems.
While there will initially be a slight
delay in more significant ROI, your
ROI will significantly rise over time.
Additionally, marketing technology
follows suit as technology advances,
guaranteeing that if you play your
cards well, your ROI will remain
higher irrespective of market
conditions.
When all of these factors come
together, you get a very effective
marketing situation where planning,
understanding your target audiences
and creating content make up most of
the process. Once you have these, you
can use various tools and technology
to complete the remaining tasks.
GAS
Anew social networking app called “GAS” is quickly becoming popular, particularly among high school teens,
because it allows users to “boost each other’s app.”
The Gas app is not like other social media platforms. There is no option to communicate or upload anything,
but you can interact with polls, motivate
individuals you know, and tell them you have a
crush on them anonymously.
Some users may compare it to the BeReal
app, although Gas maintains your identity
private.
The Wall Street Journal calls Gas “the hottest
app right now,” It was founded by Isaiah Turner,
Dave Schatz, and Nikita Bier, who also founded
TBH, a similar app that Facebook acquired in
2017 but shut down in 2018.
Like the NGL app, Gas is essentially an
anonymous question-and-answer app where
users can engage with others from their
school, neighbourhood, or others anonymously.
It promotes small social groups connecting
without the use of direct messaging.
HAPPY COW
HappyCow is a mobile app that assists users in locating vegetarian and vegan eateries in their neighbourhoods.
Eating less meat is one of the best things you can do to lessen your impact on animal agriculture, which is
one of the primary contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. HappyCow makes it simple to identify plantbased
dining options while you’re out and
about, allowing you to stay on track even
when you’re not cooking at home.
You can use the HappyCow app to find
vegan and vegetarian restaurants (as
well as those with vegan and vegetarian
alternatives) worldwide!
For Android, there are both premium
a premium version available for Apple
devices. However, both paid versions cost
$4, which is acceptable if you want to use
them frequently.
HappyCow today has over 150,000
In line with the Everything as a Service philosophy, Robotics as a Service, also known as Robots as
a Service or RaaS, is changing how small and medium-sized companies automate their processes.
Robotics, once the domain of big businesses with lots of resources, is increasingly revolutionizing the
global business environment.
Companies in various industries need to be aware of this for the advantages and difficulties that new
technology will present. It will eventually become commonplace to have robots carry out specific
activities.
What Is Robotics as a Service
(RaaS)?
RaaS is all about automation.
It alludes to service-oriented
computing in which businesses
can employ robots as needed. This
means that it is not essential to
purchase them directly, which helps
small and medium-sized enterprises
with no liquidity for such expensive
investments lower capital expenses.
Consider it as if it were a lease, for
example. More businesses can access
automation technology through OPEX
rather than CAPEX costs by hiring
robots as just another computerrelated
service. This lowers entry
hurdles for companies looking to
automate risky, boring, and repetitive
jobs that must be completed precisely.
How does robotics as a service work?
When a business obtains licensing
for a real industrial or service robot,
this is a typical use case for RaaS. The
software-as-a-service (SaaS) model
and this are similar. The actual robotic
device and the technology that powers
it are not owned by the corporation.
Instead, they obtain a license to utilize
the robot for their business. For
the continuous use of the RaaS, the
company must pay a monthly cost. A
contract between the robotics provider
and the industry specifies the prices
and other conditions for using the
robot.
Benefits of Having Robots as a Service
Businesses had to deal with the
high costs of owning robots before
this service was available. It’s not
just about getting them. Robots
require upkeep, network connectivity,
and accurate calibration for certain
operations. When using robotic
services, all these are now delivered
by a third party.
Companies don’t need to worry
about having specialized technological
knowledge to employ the required
ROBOTICS
robot capacity. Even more, firms may
quickly scale up or down when needed,
assisting all organizations in adapting
to shifting market conditions. This is
feasible because RaaS is adaptable.
Software for robots can easily be
updated and kept track of. Based on
real-time data and Machine Learning
algorithms, robot service providers
can use the cloud to deploy new units
and modify existing setups.
Having robotics as a service has
some of the following advantages:
• Automate repetitive tasks.
• Cheaper than buying robots.
• Operational tasks are delegated to a
third party.
• Robots are integrated through the
cloud.
• Operational excellence.
• Collect valuable data through robots.
• Implement powerful ML features.
• Reallocate low-value labour costs to
more valuable tasks.
• High precision for demanding tasks.
RaaS Foundations
For many, RaaS is a combination of
the following:
• Internet of Things (IoT)
Typically, robotic equipment runs
on an IoT industrial platform. In other
words, they can function like any other
Internet-connected IoT device, enabling
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
businesses to obtain real-time data
and monitor processes. Additionally,
users can operate robots using IoTcompatible
devices like smartphones
by setting up an IoT network for a
robotic system. The ability to monitor
robot-driven processes is made
possible by effective IoT apps.
• Cyber-physical System (CPS)
Software and physical components
communicate with one another in a
cyber-physical system. Software that
is easily editable via cloud computing
is used to control robots. In some
instances, consumers can even have
direct control over them. Since every
business requirement is unique, there
is no ideal strategy for using robots.
Businesses must comprehend that
robots represent a bridge between
their business processes and the
actual world and algorithms or the
world of bytes.
• Autonomous Decentralized System
(ADS)
Robots’ ability to function
autonomously while still interacting
with one another and their
environment is a crucial aspect of their
design. This enables the creation of
intricate interactions between robots
and their surroundings.
• Cloud Computing
Software and physical components
coRobots can now be remotely
controlled with all the advantages
of wireless technology thanks to
user-friendly cloud technologies.
Ironically, this is frequently the most
significant hurdle many businesses
must overcome to implement any
digital transformation strategy. Finding
a trustworthy DevOps service provider
who can assist companies with
implementing cloud technology is the
best alternative.
Concluding…
It’s pretty close to accomplishing
some duties with a robot. Small
and medium-sized businesses
are starting to recognize that it is
already happening. It won’t be long
before numerous industries use this
technology as a standard procedure.
Before implementing robotic
technology, businesses must ensure
that a solid technological foundation
is in place. If this is not done, there
will undoubtedly be issues when
introducing robot-driven automated
systems.
It is advised that businesses get in
touch with subject-matter specialists
to configure the proper infrastructure
for a successful robot operation.
Failure to do so could lead to subpar
computer systems that quickly become
outdated and introduce legacy issues.
SPACE TECHNOLOGY
NASA’S DART:
World’s First Planetary Defense Test
NASA has announced that
its experimental spacecraft
Double Asteroid Redirection
Test (DART) successfully
altered the orbit of asteroid
Dimorphous. After two weeks of data
collection and analysis, the agency
found that DART’s impact shortened the
asteroid’s rotation around its parent,
Didymos, by 32 minutes.
“All of us have a responsibility to
protect our home planet. After all, it’s the
only one we have,” NASA Administrator
Bill Nelson, the administrator of NASA,
said. “This mission shows that NASA
is trying to be ready for whatever the
universe throws at us. NASA has proven
we are serious as a defender of the
planet. This is a watershed moment for
planetary defence and all of humanity,
demonstrating commitment from NASA’s
exceptional team and partners from
around the world,” he added.
Before DART’s impact, it took
Dimorphos 11 hours and 55 minutes to
orbit its more giant parent asteroid,
Didymos. Since DART’s intentional
collision with Dimorphos on September
26, astronomers have been using
telescopes on Earth to measure how
much that time has changed.
Dimorphous
Now, the investigation team has
confirmed the spacecraft’s impact
altered Dimorphos` orbit around Didymos
by 32 minutes, shortening the 11-hour
and 55-minute rotation to 11 hours and 23
minutes. This measurement has a margin
of uncertainty of approximately plus or
minus 2 minutes. Before its encounter,
NASA had defined a minimum successful
orbit period change of Dimorphos as
a change of 73 seconds or more. This
early data show DART surpassed this
minimum benchmark by more than 25
times. “This result is one important
step toward understanding the full
effect of DART’s impact with its target
asteroid,” Lori Glaze, director of NASA’s
Planetary Science Division at NASA
Headquarters in Washington, said. “As
new data come in each day, astronomers
will be able to assess better whether
and how a mission like DART could be
used in the future to help protect Earth
from a collision with an asteroid if we
ever discover one headed our way,”
Lori added. The investigation team is
still acquiring data from ground-based
observatories around the world and with
radar facilities at NASA Jet Propulsion
Laboratory’s Goldstone planetary radar
in California and the National Science
Foundation’s Green Bank Observatory in
West Virginia.
DART has given us some fascinating
data about both asteroid properties and
the effectiveness of a kinetic impactor as
a planetary defence technology,”
They are updating the period
measurement with frequent observations
to improve its precision. The focus is
shifting toward measuring momentum
transfer efficiency from DART’s roughly
22,530-kilometer per-hour collision
with its target. This includes further
analysis of the “ejecta” - the many
tons of asteroidal rock displaced and
launched into space by the impact.
The recoil from this blast of debris
substantially enhanced DART’s push
against Dimorphos - a little like a jet of
air streaming out of a balloon sends the
balloon in the opposite direction. More
information on the asteroid’s physical
properties, such as the characteristics
of its surface and how strong or weak
it is needed to understand the effect of
the recoil from the ejecta. These issues
are still being investigated. “DART has
given us some fascinating data about
asteroid properties and the effectiveness
of a kinetic impactor as a planetary
defence technology,” Nancy Chabot, the
DART coordination lead from the Johns
Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory
(APL) in Laurel, Maryland, said.
“The DART team continues working
on this rich dataset to understand this
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
first planetary defence test of asteroid
deflection fully.” For this analysis,
astronomers will continue to study
imagery of Dimorphos from DART’s
terminal approach and from the Light
Italian CubeSat for Imaging of Asteroids
(LICIACube), provided by the Italian Space
Agency, to approximate the asteroid’s
mass and shape.
Roughly four years from now, the
European Space Agency’s Hera project
is also planned to conduct detailed
surveys of both Dimorphos and Didymos,
with a particular focus on the crater
left by DART’s collision and a precise
measurement of Dimorphos` mass.
Johns Hopkins APL built and operated
the DART spacecraft and managed the
DART mission for NASA’s Planetary
Defense Coordination Office as a project
of the agency’s Planetary Missions
Program Office.
BUILDING AUTOMATION
HONEYWELL TRANSFORMS OPERATIONS
IN 4 ICONIC BUILDINGS
THE JOHAN CRUIJFF ARENA
The Johan Cruijff Arena (JCA) in
Amsterdam is one of the world’s
most sustainable stadiums and
the home of the AFC Ajax and the
Dutch national football teams.
The Johan Cruijff Arena is one of
the most sustainable stadiums in the
world. For example, the multifunctional
stadium uses residual heat to keep
frost off the playing field, is powered
by more than 4,200 solar panels on
its roof and one wind turbine, and
processes waste as cleverly as
possible.
The JCA used a central database for
gathering and processing data from
facility systems such as ticketing,
safety and security, and more. Because
of this, stadium officials wanted a
BMS solution that would integrate
this technical data and then further
improve both visitor experience and
building performance.
The Honeywell team implemented
an integrated building solution based
on its “digitized maintenance” solution
– the next generation of Honeywell
service driven by analytics and IoT
integration. The solution taps into
extensive building sensors that enable
monitoring and analyzing building
performance 24/7.
Assisted by sensors, the Honeywell
Building Management System collects
data from the connected equipment,
controllers, and spaces. Based on
data analysis, failures can be detected
earlier so that maintenance can be
carried out before any inconvenience
arises and impacts stadium operations.
The Honeywell BMS supports the
Johan Cruijff Arena in achieving its
goals of becoming a flagship in the
field of data-driven operations —
where regular preventive maintenance
transforms into predictable, datadriven
maintenance.
diversity, and inclusion. In October
2019, the Opera House became the first
Australian art institution to commit
to the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals, which aim to
address the most pressing issues of
our time.
Launching a program to support First
Nations tertiary graduates with their
Sydney Opera House CEO Louise
Herron AM said: “As we approach
the Opera House’s 50th anniversary
in 2023, we are looking for more
ways to work with organizations that
share our vision for positive social
and environmental change. So we
welcome Honeywell as our first Global
Goals partner.” Honeywell technology
has already helped the Opera House
reduce its water consumption by 30%
through improved monitoring and
BUDA CASTLE
The Buda Castle is part of the
Buda old town area and is one
of the most important cultural
and touristic centres of Budapest.
Since 1987, it has been a UNESCO
World Heritage site. The first stones
of the gothic-style royal palace were
laid in the spring of 1247, following
the Tatar invasion, on orders by King
Bela IV. Thanks to the expansions
and renovations over the subsequent
centuries, today, you can find the
signs of baroque, renaissance, and
secession styles.
THE CHALLENGE
The previously installed IT systems
were unable to handle the central
processing and control functions of the
machines and installations operating
in the buildings and the required level
of information. The data of the isolated
systems and registers are saved in
different databases, and it took great
effort to retrieve the information
required to maintain these systems
from these separate databases.
THE TASK
The objective involves the simple
and central operability of the machine
installations in the special exhibition
areas of these buildings. Precious
cultural values that require special
storage have high requirements for
the engineering systems: a consistent
temperature and humidity must
be continuously provided, special
lighting is required, etc. Due to the
historical status of the building
complex, the assembly work could
only be performed under strict rules.
In the larger area, an IT network had
to be created to maintain proper
communication.
EIFFEL TOWER
Honeywell announced its
sustainable refrigerant
technology and is supporting a
new cooling system at the Eiffel Tower
on January 10th,2022.
The installation provides a greener
solution for the Paris landmark’s west
pillar – home to the Visitor Information
Center, a souvenir shop, and a
hydraulic lift that ascends 300 meters
to sweeping views over the city.
Honeywell says its Solstice ze
(R-1234ze) ultra-low-global warming
potential refrigerant is both energy
efficient and cost-effective. The new
cooling system replaces the tower’s
old, legacy apparatus – and is part of
a wider mission to improve safety to
meet EU regulations and reduce the
tower’s carbon footprint. It is one of
several major global landmarks that
has seen a sustainable retrofit as part
of a global drive for sustainability in
buildings.
The system uses Honeywell’s hydro
fluoro olefin (HFO) technology, which
helps customers meet environmental,
social, and governance goals without
sacrificing performance. The tech has
a variety of applications, including
refrigerants for supermarkets, auto
air conditioning units, insulation, care
products, and cleaning solutions.
“Solstice ze provides a long-term,
environmentally preferable, and costeffective
solution to tourist landmarks
such as the Eiffel Tower, helping them
to increase energy efficiency and
reduce carbon emissions,” said Julien
Soulet, vice president and general
manager of Honeywell Fluorine
Products Europe. “Globally, demand
is growing for solutions like Solstice
ze and Honeywell’s other Solstice
solutions, which have been chosen to
cool major structures, including the
Eurotunnel, because of the benefits
they provide for companies to meet
sustainability goals.”
SUSTAINABLE TECH
CAN WEB3.0
TECHNOLOGIES
HELP IN
CREATING
A MORE
SUSTAINABLE
WORLD?
Not everything about Web 3 is virtual. Web 3’s ability to sustain itself relies
on the energy that comes from the physical world. However, the next stage of
Internet development may impact global sustainability.
When people become
more aware of climate
change, these shifting
marketplaces may have
a broader impact in
the future. New ideas and technology
have already started shaping how we
produce and consume.
The world of NFTs, particularly
how they are changing the world of
art, is one of the topics explored. By
allowing artists to interact directly
with their audience and widen their
reach, NFT technology has the
potential to increase market efficiency.
It also gives consumers a sense of
authenticity and ownership.
The NFT market is still very much
in its infancy, and a big part of the
problem for digital art is the potential
environmental harm that can be
caused by blockchain technology.
These digital ledgers consume
enormous amounts of computer power,
increasing our carbon emissions. But
Changes are coming.
Big blockchain changes
A more environmentally friendly
cryptocurrency future has already
been paved by Ethereum, the secondlargest
cryptocurrency after Bitcoin.
Ethereum used to run on a Proof of
Work method but converted to Proof of
Stake, which fundamentally alters how
blockchain technology functions and
resolves many concerns about carbon
emissions.
The transfer, popularly known as
“The Merge,” which took place in
September, aligns Ethereum with
other more environmentally friendly
currencies and significantly reduces
the pollution produced. The Ethereum
Foundation estimates that cutting the
network’s energy consumption would
reduce pollution by 99.5%. Future users
of crypto platforms may benefit from
these more environmentally friendly
alternatives.
A shift to a more environmentally
friendly blockchain
For many environmentalists and
creatives, the carbon emissions of
cryptocurrency transactions have been
a big negative.
The past several years, however,
have offered a glimmer of optimism
to those who want to see blockchain
develop into a reliable system for
online transactions.
The Ethereum organization
implemented a new upgrade for its
transaction technology in September,
making it 99.5% less polluting. This was
the most significant development for
advocates of cryptocurrency who care
about the environment.
68 / December 2022
www.thetechnologyexpress.com

By figuratively comparing the
Ethereum organization to a made-up
transportation company with a 25%
global market share, “The merging”
can be further highlighted. Imagine
it overnight replacing all of its fuelpowered
engines with zero-emission
models.
Additionally, Ethereum accounts
for around three-quarters of the
NFT market. As a result, creatives
and people who have shied away
from blockchain technologies
may locate crypto platforms and
NFT marketplaces dedicated to
environmentally friendly solutions
quite readily.
NFTs pioneer the transition to
ideology-driven art
With NFTs, the worth of the work is
determined by outside factors, such as
independent digital communities, as
opposed to the traditional method of
evaluating art.
Famous artists can interact with
communities that value their work
and motivation and want to buy it to
support the shared cause by minting
art in the blockchain to promote a
purposeful cause.
In addition, NFT and smart contract
technology can guarantee the
openness of artists’ and businesses’
commitments to share their sales
revenue with concerned parties,
potentially reducing the exploitation
of vulnerable populations and the
environment.
To highlight, blockchain technology
enables us to easily comprehend how
an artist or business shares their
NFT sales among the stakeholders
involved. We join a group that can have
a beneficial impact on the world when
we buy art that fits with a narrative we
deem important.
We may participate in intelligent
consumerism from the buyer’s
perspective thanks to NFT and
its smart contracts, improving
transparency and seller accountability.
How Web3 can lead to a healthier
form of consumerism
As a society, we buy more than ever,
which causes our natural resources to
be depleted, contributing significantly
to our pollution problem. This is
particularly evident in the fashion
industry, or “fast fashion,” which
focuses on quick, inexpensive, and
mass apparel production. According
to studies, the typical individual only
wears 20% of their wardrobe, and
in most situations, at least 50% of a
person’s garments go unused.
The solution is digital. Fashion
designer Regina Turbina built a Web3
marketplace for the metaverse to
address this problem. The Replicant
marketplace enables users to browse
a digital fashion boutique, choose
a new outfit, apply it to a photo of
themselves, and then receive the new
digital outfit 48 hours later.
As long as there are still sales,
changing our consumption to be
more digital-based could ensure that
we maintain economic development
while enabling us to consume in an
environmentally beneficial manner. Do
you recall Ready Player One by Ernest
Cline? Could a future similar to the
made-up setting of the novel be nearer
than we think? Instead of engaging in
excessive consumption in the “real
world,” we could support the habit
by satisfying our demands through
avatars. This reasoning could also
be used in areas other than fashion.
Need a second vehicle? You can have
as many as you want in a virtual world
without worrying about your carbon
footprint.
It’s an intriguing idea, and - almost
as a byproduct of increased metaverse
use and the sales of virtual goods
within them - will inevitably reduce
real-world manufacturing and waste.
Although the distinctions between
our physical and digital consumption
already blur, a digital future may turn
out to be the physical world’s friend as
parts of blockchain work to become
more environmentally friendly and
NFTs search for their place in the
world.
NEXT STEPS TOWARDS A STRONGER
SCHOOL SYSTEM WITH ALL UK
SCHOOLS IN STRONG TRUSTS
Real-time data Harnessing
in education
Real-time performance
data in education offer
much-needed tracking of
program activities and instructors’ and
students’ development, allowing for
more informed changes along the way.
This research presents an overview
of some of the main factors for realtime
data gathering in education,
with a special emphasis on the digital
tools that enable it. Importantly, the
research team have created a typology
of tools and selection criteria to assist
policymakers, practitioners, and
researchers worldwide in building new
tools or choosing from the landscape
of existing ones.
Earlier this month, the Queen’s
speech outlined ambitious goals to
assist every school in becoming a
Trust by 2030. As part of efforts to
raise standards, the school’s Bill
confirms plans made in the Schools
White Paper to move toward a “family
of schools” model.
As Trusts grow in size, in terms
of the number of students, staff, and
physical facilities, it will be more
necessary than ever for leaders to
have access to the critical, centralized
data and information required to
improve students’ life chances and
create great working environments for
employees.
However, bulky, outdated technology
stacks and diverse systems are
detrimental to many Trusts. They
obstruct leaders from gaining the
real-time insight they require to make
smart decisions for the benefit of
staff, students, and the Trust. Adopting
cloud technology has been difficult,
exacerbating the situation and leaving
teachers and Trust-level personnel
victims of constant admin labour and
segregated data.
Cloud-based technologies are
essential for educators who want
to be more productive and engage
in meaningful, impactful work in
today’s digital-first, real-time society.
The moment has come for Trusts to
leverage the power of real-time data.
Trusts’ tech is hampering performance.
As Trusts expand in size and
geographical spread, school systems
and processes that can cope with
the size and scale of a modern Trust
become increasingly important.
The time it takes to extract and
evaluate data from many sources
impedes trust enhancement. MATs
are frequently left to manually
centralize data to provide relevant
insights, diverting important time away
from what matters most - boosting
students’ life opportunities. According
to research, 44% of instructors
and school officials did not have
72 / December 2022
www.thetechnologyexpress.com

applications to capture work and
assessments, and only 39% allowed
parents to view student data.
Trusts are data-rich yet data-poor.
Data-rich because Trust leaders
receive many reporting requests from
various schools. However, because of
separate systems, these take weeks
to compile, and hence the information
contained inside them is already out
of date by the time leaders get around
to reading them. Trusts are datapoor
without current and accurate
centralized data. It’s nearly impossible
to gauge the impact of changes like a
new attendance policy or a rewards
and sanctions system.
What is required is a laser-like
emphasis on adopting effective,
user-friendly EdTech to assist Trust
leaders in navigating changes today
and tomorrow through centralized
data, allowing them to make the best
decisions for each kid, school, and
teacher.
Real-time insights help Trusts become
top of the class.
In the long run, using cloud
technology and the real-time
intelligence it provides will benefit
everyone. It provides an easy way
to see the extent of need across all
schools. As the market expands, MATs
will have abundant data that only realtime
analysis and centralization can
help turn into actionable knowledge.
Importantly, the
research team have
created a typology
of tools and
selection criteria to
assist policymakers,
practitioners,
and researchers
worldwide in
building new tools
or choosing from
the landscape of
existing ones.
Leaders will be unable to make the
best-informed decisions without
this actionable insight, and Trusts’
reputations may suffer as a result.
The real-time insight cloud platform
provides leaders with a comprehensive
view of the Trust. This is incredibly
EDTECH
significant since it enables teachers to
provide a better and more organized
education to kids in any situation. It
also allows for making more informed
decisions about individual students or
a school’s overall performance.
Furthermore, real-time insight
can expose inefficiencies across
specific schools within a Trust and
give the data required to build a wellstreamlined
manner of functioning.
It can also encourage conversations
among co-workers, allowing Trusts
to shift their focus from organizing
data to using it to make key decisions,
allowing them to generate significant
change as they embark on their growth
path.
The School Bill’s implications will
facilitate growth, and real-time data
will provide Trust with insight. In
less time, trusts may generate more
assessable and understandable
reporting, display, and representation
of centralized data. Leaders and
teachers may gain a holistic view of
Trust data by tracking trends over time
and drilling down at the school or pupil
level, revealing the true story behind
the numbers and making the best,
informed decisions.
AVIATION
WHAT IS AVIATION MAINTENANCE
TECHNOLOGY?
An Aviation Maintenance
Technician (AMT) may
do repairs, inspections,
modifications, or a
complete overhaul of an
aircraft or an aircraft component.
Aviation maintenance technicians
make sure that aeroplanes are
airworthy, safe, and functional
while in flight. There are numerous
tasks on both sides of this. Fixedwing
aeroplanes and rotorcraft.
Aviation Maintenance Technicians
are individuals who are critical to
maintaining an aircraft’s effectiveness
and safety. They maintain, overhaul,
test, and service aeroplanes and
their systems. The Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) mandates that all
AMTs hold the Airframe & Powerplant
(A&P) mechanic rating. You can receive
your FAA A&P mechanic rating while
pursuing a career as an aviation
maintenance technician. With this
rating, you are qualified to work on the
airframe, which consists of the wings,
fuselage, tail assembly, and landing
gear. You can work on the propeller,
piston, and turbine kinds of power
plant. Additionally, you can work on
the aircraft’s systems, including the
electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic
ones. Some of the crucial duties
carried out by AMTs include:
Examine, test, and fix primary and
secondary structures made of
fibreglass, plastics, honeycomb,
composite, and laminated materials.
Create composite and sheet metal
structures and parts for aeroplanes.
Assess the systems and parts of
reciprocating and turbine engines.
Maintaining, repairing, and
overhauling turbine and
reciprocating engine parts.
Determine and evaluate the best
corrosion removal method and
aircraft cleaning supplies.
It is influenced by technology, as is
everything in today’s world. Even
though aircraft maintenance is
heavily dependent on people and
demands a customized touch, a
window of opportunity for the spread
of disruptive ideas was created by the
need for greater efficiency, safety, and
affordability.
Technologies that are boosting growth
in the aviation technological industry
Drones and robotics
High-resolution inspection cameras
on robots capture and send video
images that SR Technics engineers
subsequently evaluate. These photos
allow for extensive repair assessment
and can be used on the runway and
in the hangar. Additional capabilities
like ultrasound and thermographic
testing make the inspection process
even more effective. Rolls-Royce is a
fantastic example of a robotics-based
company. They may implant their ten
mm-diameter SWARM robots, which
were created in partnership with
Harvard University, in the centre of an
engine to visually inspect the difficultto-reach
parts without having to
remove the engine from the aeroplane.
Electronic Twining
Real cloning systems can operate
concurrently in a digital environment
thanks to the advanced analytical tool
called “Digital Twinning.” The creation
of digital twins aids in increasing
production, predicting problems,
and improving efficiency. Boeing is
developing digital twins to build new
aeroplanes, run simulations, and
predict performance. Rolls-Royce is
creating digital twins of its engine
designs to increase sustainability and
cut unnecessary maintenance. Stuart
Hughes, CIO of Rolls-Royce, stated that
30 sensors were employed and that
data was collected roughly five times
throughout the flight. Today’s engines
are capable of collecting hundreds of
data points each second.
HEALTHCARE
WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD
FOR AI IN MEDICAL DEVICES?
The Covid-19 Pandemic has turned our world upside down and has taken a significant toll
on almost every aspect of our lives. While it had a significant detrimental influence, it also
positively changed our culture. For instance, it greatly hastened the digital revolution. Every
industry is now more reliant on technology as a result. There is no turning back from this
point on!
The healthcare sector is at
the core of all industries for
obvious reasons. When the
infectious coronavirus was
killing people worldwide
not too long ago, the healthcare
industry worked nonstop to limit the
damage. Because of all the commotion,
telehealth became essential,
increasing the use of artificial
intelligence in the medical industry.
In recent months, the role of
artificial intelligence in the medical
field has been one of the hottest
talking points, and the adoption of
this tech is not showing any signs
of slowing down. The healthcare
sector relies on AI applications for
better decisions, managing patient
data, establishing personalized
medication programs, identifying novel
medications, and much more since AI
can make medical care more human
with enhanced accuracy and efficiency.
Use cases for AI and digital health
As more researchers and healthcare
startups look for innovative ways to
enhance patient care and support
healthcare professionals’ delivery,
there has been an upsurge in the
use cases for artificial intelligence
in healthcare. We may anticipate
even more radical changes in
how healthcare is delivered as AI
technology develops. Among the
significant new applications of AI in
digital healthcare are:
Blood pressure monitoring
An important aspect of
cardiovascular health is blood
pressure. The chance of acquiring
life-threatening medical conditions,
including heart disease and stroke, can
rise in those with high blood pressure
(hypertension).
In the doctor’s office, checking
someone’s blood pressure is a
standard checkup procedure. If you
need to check your blood pressure
readings frequently, you would be
familiar with the cuff and equipment
used to test it, and you might even
76 / December 2022
www.thetechnologyexpress.com

have one in your house. These
techniques are still crucial for taking
blood pressure, but they are only
sometimes precisely because of the
wearer’s movements or how well the
cuff fits.
The startup, an AI solution called
CardioX, uses an ECG recorded
by a wearable device to assess a
person’s blood pressure. It offers
to email the data to the attending
doctor. Although this method needs
cuff-based instruments to produce
accurate measurements, it frequently
provides information. It highlights
variations in the individual’s blood
pressure, enabling earlier diagnosis
and treatment of illnesses like
hypertension.
• Analyzing blood sugar levels
Consistently high blood sugar
levels can harm vital organs, the brain
system, and the eyes, in addition to
causing health issues. Analyzing blood
sugar levels is crucial for people with
diabetes as a result. For many years,
finger pricking has been the primary
technique. However, finger pricking is
not always convenient, and sometimes
people forget to check their blood
sugar levels. This is about to change
for those with the illness thanks to
new wearable technology and AI.
The GluCare system is one instance
of a wearable AI gadget. The device
can be worn on whatever body region
is most comfortable for the user. The
wearable continuously tracks the
user’s blood sugar levels and utilizes
artificial intelligence to notify the user
when levels decrease or rise. Doctors
can subsequently use the information
gathered to guide their patients’
treatment decisions.
• Diagnosing diseases from chest
x-rays
Medical professionals frequently
use X-rays to detect and identify lung
cancer and other respiratory illnesses.
To identify health issues on x-rays,
radiologists can use AI in conjunction
with radiography. AI analyzes photos
more quickly than humans, pointing up
areas of concern so a doctor can look
at them more closely. While doctors’
trained eyes can spot abnormalities,
some may be difficult to spot on a
scan, or the doctor can benefit from
a program to help them if they are
pressed for time.
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
Taking the x-rays themselves is an
additional aspect of AI and radiology.
Similar to the blood pressure cuff,
situating the patient and equipment
correctly can impact the quality of an
x-ray. Carestream is one business
that seeks to enhance imaging
with sophisticated solutions that
guarantee proper equipment location
and settings. Again, radiologists
already have these abilities, but they
might significantly increase patient
throughput and accuracy.
AI adoption challenges in the digital
medical sector
So, what stops us from adopting AI
solutions if beneficial use cases like
these exist?
• Data limitations
Data availability is one of the
obstacles to adoption. AI needs data
to be trained, but healthcare data is
challenging and cannot be considered
anonymous even after being deidentified.
Before the widespread
adoption of AI in healthcare, these
ethical and privacy problems must be
addressed.
The absence of standards is another
obstacle. Healthcare data is frequently
unstructured and differs from one
facility to the next. Different labs
utilize various measurement tools
with various normal operating ranges.
Because of these, it is challenging
to create models that can be applied
to multiple datasets and institutions.
Interoperable healthcare solutions
would significantly aid in resolving this
issue.
• Compliance with regulations
While AI has enormous promise
to change healthcare and enhance
patient outcomes, several regulatory
obstacles must be removed before it
can be broadly used. Strict compliance
with healthcare data standards
introduces new technology, including
AI, to market challenges. This is
related to data privacy once more.
Many of these rules are concerned
with protecting patient information and
ensuring that it can only be seen by
and shared with specific individuals.
Another challenge is the review and
approval processes that healthcare
technology must undergo before being
released to the public. The time it takes
for such items to reach the market
increases since new AI solutions must
be validated through clinical research.
We require a solution that makes
it simple for healthcare technology
companies to promote their goods
without compromising patient security.
• Future of AI in Healthcare
Artificial intelligence research in the
medical field is expanding quickly. The
following are (at least) forecasts for
the trends that will be most popular in
the future of AI in healthcare:
• Medical Diagnosis of AI. Diagnosis
prediction is one of the primary
areas where AI will have a
substantial impact. Future machine
learning models will make it
possible for AI medical forecasts to
identify medical issues before they
manifest themselves.
• Telemedicine. In the future, people
will be able to receive hospitalquality
care in the comfort of their
own homes thanks to machine
learning-based models. Advanced
AI chatbots can advise patients
on their medical care and gather
information from them regarding
their symptoms.
• Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Although electronic health records
and artificial intelligence are not
entirely related, they will play a
significant part in the future of
healthcare. EHRs are nothing
more than the patient’s medical
records in digital form. It contains
information on the patients’ 10-
year medical background, health
trajectory, and diagnoses. They are
enormous databases that can be
mined for vital patient information
using AI and machine learning
approaches.
Wrapping Up
In short, healthcare is one of the
most significant industries that
artificial intelligence will transform.
The industry has already committed
trillions of dollars to work with AI,
demonstrating the magnitude of AI’s
influence on the healthcare industry.
INDUSTRIAL TECH
IMPLEMENTING
NEW TECH
TO ENHANCE
SUPPLY CHAIN
RESILIENCE
Building supply chain resilience is more crucial than ever in today’s changing
world. Sensible technology selection and implementation choices will support
the ability to withstand disruptions, carry on with regular operations, and
continue growing.
Asuccessful business
depends on efficient supply
chain management for its
agility and profitability.
Resilience is a crucial
characteristic needed for supply chain
management and coordination.
Most industries have experienced
supply chain interruptions because
of COVID-19. During COVID-19, many
businesses had issues that affected
shipment timing, costs, efficiency, and
revenues. These effects emphasize the
value of creating a supply network that
can withstand a storm and recover
quickly.
For this, technology is essential. A
variety of outstanding technologies can
increase the resilience of the supply
chain. Let’s examine the modern
world’s global supply chain and how
you might strengthen and adapt.
Supply chain challenges in a postpandemic
world
Because a small issue in one link in
the chain can have a major impact on
the entire network, managing supply
chains can be challenging. Sadly (or
thankfully), Covid-19 has highlighted
many supply chain vulnerabilities as
businesses crumbled under the weight
of supply, demand, and ability-toservice
shocks.
Even though limitations are
being loosened and borders are
opening again, there are still several
difficulties, including labour scarcity
and a lack of equipment. Consumer
demands, despite all of this, are still
changing. Customers are accustomed
to (and demand) quick delivery and
flawless experiences due to the pace
of e-commerce.
Businesses have been changing
their operations to preserve
competition and create more robust
supply chains. To adapt to changes,
several businesses are regionalizing
their supply chains. Others have begun
investigating supply chain solutions to
increase operational effectiveness and
reduce hazards.
Digital transformation to build a
resilient supply chain
Businesses must future-proof their
supply chains by lowering complexity
and uncertainties as they adjust to
the new normal. Future supply chain
management will depend heavily on
increased digitization and cuttingedge
technologies. Companies can
get many advantages through digital
transformation, including:
Higher visibility
You may improve supply chain
visibility with blockchain, cuttingedge
track-and-trace systems, and
enterprise resource planning (ERP).
You can see your whole inventory as
it moves and takes proactive steps to
reduce risk when you have excellent
visibility.
Collaboration is improved because
strong supplier connections provide
chain-wide openness. You can swiftly
coordinate processes and adapt to
change by regularly working with
supply chain participants. Technology
is needed to gather and distribute data
every step along the way.
Thanks to data analytics, artificial
intelligence (AI), and machine
learning (ML), you will have predictive
capabilities to keep on top of supply
chain risk management. By foreseeing
probable disruptions, for instance, you
can modify inventory decisions.
New Technologies
Here are some of the developments
that are beginning to make a
difference. They are enabling the
establishment of reasonably priced
factories nearby. They are also
enhancing operations and cutting
the time it takes to train employees
on activities like assembling various
mechanical or electrical goods on the
same assembly line from months to
days.
• AI + HI. The development of AI,
particularly human use, presents
new possibilities to escape the
cost trap. Cobots, which directly
interact with humans in industrial
plants, have undergone significant
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
advancements that integrate AI
and HI to reduce labour costs while
maintaining the value of human
oversight.
• 3D printing. With the development
of additive manufacturing
(3D printing), businesses can
increasingly make various parts
and goods on a budget. They
enable companies to streamline
production in closer-to-home
plants, lessening dependency on
numerous and far-off suppliers.
• Recognition technology. AI-driven
action recognition technology
integrates live video with analytics
in manual production processes
like vehicle engine assembly to
make sure that employees are
correctly performing challenging
stages without making mistakes.
The end results are better quality
control, increased output, and
datasets that can be utilized to
enhance procedures.
• Digital manufacturing solutions.
These systems provide end-toend
traceability, enable real-time
data entry by employees, track
product manufacturing across
workstations, and guarantee that
only high-quality parts are sent
farther upstream.
• Three-dimensional simulation.
They include metaverse software
applications like Omniverse from
Nvidia. They enable manufacturers
to replicate factory architecture,
workstation design, and assembly
design and create digital twins of
their operations.
• Logistics technology. This sector
is receiving a ton of investment,
particularly in technologies for
managing warehouses, matching
freight loads to available
transportation, and choosing the
most economical route. The rate of
investment by venture capital firms
implies that before the end of this
decade, VC funding for “supply tech”
will surpass that for fintech.
Building supply chain resilience
is more crucial than ever in today’s
changing world. Sensible technology
selection and implementation choices
will support the ability to withstand
disruptions, carry on with regular
operations, and continue growing.
ENTERPRISE IT
HOW CAN CLOUD ADOPTION
ACCELERATE ENTERPRISE DIGITAL
TRANSFORMATION?
From remote working to online classes and cloud kitchens to financial transactions, Cloud
Computing is one technology that underpins all digital business models. It’s no exaggeration
to say that cloud enables business.
Survey after survey has
claimed that the Cloud
Computing market
continued to grow. As
per a recent Gartner,
Inc. forecast, the total public cloud
services segment has grown from
$270 billion in 2020 to $332.3 billion
in 2021. Emerging technologies like
containerization, Desktop as a Service
(DaaS), and edge computing are
driving major cloud spending.
As organizations recover back to the
pre-covid levels, Cloud Computing is a
powerful technology available at their
disposal to accelerate transformation
plans. Cloud Computing gives
organizations the power to co-innovate
with cloud service providers and offers
intelligent digital solutions that are
accessible, adaptable, and agile.
Digital transformation is the drive
toward utilizing digital technologies
in practically every part of an
organization, replacing outdated
business procedures and customer
engagement techniques while also
fostering new innovations inside the
digital business culture.
To stay competitive, a growing number
of businesses have begun their digital
transformations as we transition to
a more digitally advanced society.
Moreover, 40% of businesses’ tech
budgets were dedicated to digital
transformation strategies as of the
end of 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic,
which compelled industries of all kinds
to adopt innovative digital strategies
to maintain their business operations,
has only expedited this transformation.
A digital transformation involves much
more than just switching from paper
to digital files for record-keeping.
Enterprises have been able to modify
their operations to engage customers
more fully in the digital age thanks
to the introduction of digital devices,
apps, storage, and other tools. These
improvements, however, are practically
impossible to implement without cloud
and digital transformation services. In
actuality, integrating cloud and digital
transformation solutions is the only
way to guarantee that distant workers
maintain communication, complicated
projects are completed without on-site
IT help, and data is kept private while
still being accessible to those who
need it.
Enterprises are speeding up the digital
transformation, with the cloud at its
core, as they continue to conduct
business digitally.
Cloud Forms the Core of Modern
Digital Transformation
The process of digital transformation
has undergone a revolution thanks
to Cloud Computing. Data that was
previously kept in on-site physical
hubs can now be moved to a server
network over the internet thanks to
cloud digital computing transformation.
Thus, analytics, maintenance,
administration, processing, and other
processes are possible virtually.
Until now, many companies have
made investments in powerful
networks and servers to support
digital growth. This investment
frequently posed a serious threat to
the annual budget and constrained the
amount of development that could be
accomplished in a single fiscal year.
It is now possible to convert and
extend digital products without blowing
the budget, thanks to cloud computing
and digital cloud transformation. The
use of cloud computing for digital
transformation has a significant
impact on computing power because
it allows organizations to reinvent
how they manage data and use their
newly acquired technology to enhance
consumer experiences.
Major Benefits of Cloud Adoption for
Digital Transformation of Enterprises
Unmatched Accessibility
There’s no doubt that business
appetite for applications is on the rise.
Business users are dependent on
applications because of the numerous
benefits like efficient operations,
lesser manual processes, and quicker
ROI. Certain applications, like Microsoft
365, Salesforce, Adobe, AWS, Google
Workspace, etc., are becoming an
integral part of an organization’s
enterprise information technology
systems.
As per research conducted in 2018,
on average, a single organization
uses 129 business applications. Not
a very recent research but enough to
ascertain the proliferation of business
applications.
Improved Security
Losing control of infrastructure
and data is common during the digital
transformation process. But moving
data to the cloud greatly lowers the
dangers of data loss and illegal access.
Protection from potential dangers is
provided by public clouds for data,
apps, and entire infrastructures. Since
backups are generated automatically,
there is no chance of data loss at all.
The cloud is becoming more
secure because of industry-wide
advancements made by cloud service
providers. Among the other cloud
security techniques that businesses
might use in their operations are the
following:
Following stringent compliance
requirements
Using multifactor authentication to
obtain data access
Comprehensive end-user training
regarding the importance of cloud
data
Collaborating with suppliers of
managed security operations
centres to ensure complete data
security
Cost-Efficient
Many CIOs continue to see lower
return versus investment ratios
for their Digital Transformation
plans. Modern IT departments
typically operate with several
technologies, applications, and a
mix of in-house engineering teams,
contract employees, and Digital
Service Providers contributing to the
increasing IT spending.
Gartner’s prediction about worldwide
IT spending is projected to be $4.5
trillion in 2022, nearly an increase of
5.5% from 2021.
Greater Scalability
The attributes of an application that
allow it to handle rising on-demand
requirements are referred to as
scalability. The virtualization theory of
cloud computing states that computers
may be scaled to meet the demands of
the business, and cloud architecture
supports both vertical and horizontal
scaling. By dividing workloads among
more servers as demand rises,
horizontal scaling enables businesses
to maintain business continuity while
achieving maximum performance. In
vertical scaling, computer capability,
such as storage or processing power,
can be raised based on business
requirements. Dynamic scaling
features control the user’s changing
needs without sacrificing the speed
and operational effectiveness of IT
departments.
Enhanced Swiftness and Dependability
Two essential features of business
cloud infrastructure are agility
and dependability. After acquiring
access with an opt-in, services
are immediately provided. Cloud
applications operate more quickly,
improving and accelerating users’
working environments. Additionally,
you immediately get capabilities that
would take a long time to develop
independently. Furthermore, cloud
services are not impacted by hardware
failure. You can identify and resolve
issues fast with cloud visualization and
meticulous planning.
HOW THE CLOUD CAN ACCELERATE
YOUR DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION
In the digital era, a business’s
ability to succeed is largely
based on how satisfied its
customers are. Cloud computing
is an essential part of the digital
revolution and promotes innovation
thanks to using tools like machine
learning, augmented reality, IoT, and
chatbots, among others. In other
words, the digital transformation
process is now possible at a quicker
rate thanks to cloud platforms.
A cloud-enabled business model
benefits enterprises because it
reduces the complexity of their IT
infrastructure, allows them to focus
on other crucial facets of digital
transformation, and gives them more
options for growing their clientele.
Enterprise adoption of dispersed
cloud has the potential to hasten
the cloud transition even further
because public cloud services are
now accessible in regions that were
previously predominately non-cloud.
Businesses are exploring the cloud for
faster digital transformation because it
may address location-specific criteria,
such as low latency, data sovereignty,
and network bandwidth.
What is the Role of the Cloud in Digital
Transformation?
The goal of digital transformation
is to use digital technology in almost
every aspect of a company, eliminating
antiquated customer engagement
and business processes while also
promoting new ideas within the digital
business culture.
As we move toward a more
technologically savvy society, an
increasing number of firms have
started their digital transitions to
remain competitive. Additionally, as
of 2019, digital transformation plans
accounted for 40% of enterprise tech
spending. This shift has only been
accelerated by the COVID-19 epidemic,
which drove industries of all types to
embrace cutting-edge digital methods
to preserve their corporate operations.
A digital transition entails more than
merely converting paper records into
digital ones. Since the advent of digital
devices, applications, storage, and
other technologies, businesses have
adapted their processes to engage
customers in the digital age better.
However, achieving these advances
would not be easy without cloud and
digital transformation services. In
reality, the only way to ensure remote
workers continue contact, challenging
projects are finished without on-site
IT assistance, and data is kept private
while still being available to those
needing it is to integrate cloud and
digital transformation solutions.
To keep up with their digital business
practices, enterprises are accelerating
digital transformation built on the
cloud.
Major Benefits of Cloud Adoption for
Digital Transformation of Enterprises
A business may improve and grow
its digital footprint by utilizing a range
of tools, techniques, and capabilities
offered by cloud platforms. Businesses
may automate and migrate using
cloud technology to manage their
systems and quicken the pace of their
digital transformation. Here are a few
methods the cloud speeds up digital
transformation:
Exceptional Accessibility
Business owners increasingly see
the value of applications. Users utilize
apps because of their various benefits,
such as less complexity, increased ROI,
and fewer manual processes.
Enterprises are using apps more
often, which raises the need to manage
application integration. Thanks to cloud
computing, these apps may interact
with one another in a professional
context, enabling users to use them
efficiently.
Businesses often use systems
integration platforms and APIs that
provide a number of techniques for
connecting several apps utilizing
cloud computing technologies.
Additionally, cloud-based applications
are accessible from anywhere with any
internet-connected device.
Improved Security
During the digital transformation
process, losing control of the
infrastructure and data is normal.
However, shifting data to the cloud
significantly reduces data loss and
unauthorized access risks. Public
clouds offer data, apps, and entire
infrastructures security against
possible threats. Data loss is not even
a possibility because backups are
created automatically.
Because of industry-wide
developments made by cloud service
providers, the cloud is becoming
more secure. The following are some
more cloud security strategies that
companies may implement in their
operations:
1. Following stringent compliance
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
requirements
2. Using multifactor authentication to
obtain data access
3. Comprehensive end-user training
regarding the importance of cloud
data
4. Collaborating with suppliers of
managed security operations
centres to ensure complete data
security
Greater Scalability
Scalability refers to an application’s
capabilities for accommodating
increasing on-demand demands.
According to the virtualization theory
of cloud computing, cloud architecture
enables vertical and horizontal
scalability, and computers may be
scaled to suit business demands.
Horizontal scaling helps enterprises
to ensure business continuity while
obtaining optimal performance
by distributing workloads among
additional servers as demand
increases.
According to company needs,
computer capabilities, such as
storage or processing power, may be
increased through vertical scaling.
With dynamic scaling features, users’
evolving demands may be managed
without slowing down IT departments’
response times or operational
efficiency.
Enhanced Swiftness and Dependability
A business cloud infrastructure
must have both dependability and
agility. Services are offered right away
after gaining access through an opt-in.
Applications on the cloud run more
swiftly, enhancing and speeding up
user work environments. You also gain
powers right away that would take a
considerable time to acquire on your
own.
Hardware failure also does not affect
cloud services. Cloud visualization
and careful preparation let you quickly
discover and fix problems.
Enhanced Cost Effectiveness
Applications for cloud computing
reduce the cost of purchasing
hardware, software, and running
data centres, which is crucial for any
company. The cloud’s pay-as-you-go
(PAYG) approach enables companies
to innovate and create new apps and
systems that easily fit into the existing
ecosystem.
The option to pay for what you use
CLOUD COMPUTING
helps balance the cost of personnel,
infrastructure, and other expenses.
Cloud migration generally results in
savings of 15% on overall IT spending,
which is less than what small- to
medium-sized businesses experience,
which profits from the cloud by
spending 36% less on IT.
Possibilities for Automation
The cloud offers incredible business
automation possibilities compared
to traditional information-exchange
server solutions. Cloud automation
involves using built-in tools and
processes to simplify and execute
workflows efficiently in a cloud
environment.
It is possible to automate backups,
build up infrastructure as code
approaches, manage operations,
and completely take care of security
measures with the aid of cloud
computing technologies.
The complexity and adaptability of
cloud settings are also effectively
managed by the cloud, which also
emphasizes the automation of services
and virtual infrastructure as a whole.
Enterprises can begin to benefit if a
reliable coordinating mechanism is in
place.
Digital Transformation is ‘not possible’
without Cloud Computing
Plans for digital transformation
depend on how strategically sound the
IT infrastructure is. It might be difficult
for enterprises to take advantage
of new prospects with a traditional
infrastructure. The cloud is the catalyst
for all new business opportunities,
whether enterprises are expanding
their healthcare infrastructure,
providing consumers with new
material to stream, using robots in
their warehouses, or opening their
next cloud quick-service restaurants.
Regardless of the goals of digital
transformation, cloud computing is
a must for business transformation.
By extending products and services
HOME TECHNOLOGY
USING TECHNOLOGY TO KEEP
YOUR HOME SAFE
The Internet of Things (IoT)
is transforming our lives by
connecting the devices we
use. Giving remote control
to a single item is simple
enough; the first TV remote was
produced in the 1950s. However, every
gadget, from your hifi and TV to your
heating, door locks, and lighting, can
now be linked to a single controller via
the internet, giving you complete house
management.
The linked home has the potential
to make your life easier and more
enjoyable. It does, however, have a
drawback. Connecting your home
systems to the internet exposes them
to various security dangers.
How does a smart home work?
Smart homes use equipment that
can link to the internet and contain
small computers that allow them to
be managed remotely. These gadgets
range in size from a coffee maker to
your full heating system.
What distinguishes them from
ordinary TV remotes is that they
communicate over internet protocol
and are all linked via a hub. That
may be your home router or your
smartphone.
Unlike the TV remote, these devices
can capture and store information on
your usage, habits, and preferences
– either on the device or the network.
That data makes your smart home a
potential privacy risk, and each gadget
you connect to the network introduces
a new privacy worry.
Smart home security risks and threats
The connected home presents
several types of security threats.
To begin with, individual devices
may not be secure. Some IoT home
gadgets are hurried to market, and
their security may be compromised. In
certain circumstances, user manuals
fail to address privacy concerns or
provide sufficient information to
ensure the device’s security. Baby
monitors and security cameras, for
example, have been hacked, allowing
criminals to view inside a home.
Many experts say that when it comes
to IoT devices, you should be thinking
about what happens ‘when,’ not ‘if,’
because many are easy to hack and
provide no protection.
Second, your home network may
not be secure, and any data stored on
it may be available to intruders. For
example, a criminal could follow your
device usage patterns to see when
you’re away from home.
If your home network is managed
through your primary internet account,
data from your IoT devices may also
be at risk. Any flaw might expose your
personal information, including emails,
social media accounts, and even bank
accounts.
Many customers operate their
linked house by smartphone, making
it an extremely valuable database for
anyone attempting to hack into your
life. This puts your phone at risk if it
is hacked, stolen, or someone gets to
spy on your connection. Ensure that
a single susceptible IoT device does
not jeopardize your home network
security.
If you want to benefit from the
advantages of a smart home, you must
address potential security issues first.
CYBERCRIME
TOP 5 WAYS TO AVOID
CYBERCRIME
We have made great
strides in the last few
decades in terms of
technical development.
Since then, due to the
growth in people, data, and gadgets,
cybercrime has reached an alltime
high. We have recently started
hearing more about data breaches and
cybercrime.
Most people are unaware
that anyone could be a target of
these illegal actions. Community
organizations, schools, small
businesses, hospitals, libraries, voter
registration systems, and even certain
governments have fallen prey to
cybercrime, which is on the rise.
Numerous precautionary measures
have been implemented to combat
cybercriminals. The conflict between
cyber criminals and the general public
has never been more intense because
of the influx of security companies
into the internet industry. If security
measures fail, you could become an
excellent target for several online
crimes.
The first step to cybersecurity—and,
honestly, your sole line of defence
against cybercriminals—is consulting
an IT security professional. When
protecting your network and data,
these professionals go above and
beyond. There are many security
precautions you may take up front to
stop a cybercriminal attack on your
business.
Although protecting yourself
adequately from a cyber-attack is
impossible. However, below are the (5)
ways that might prevent or slow down
a cyber-attack:
1. Download a Virtual Private Network
(VPN)
A VPN is a valuable ally in the
fight against cybercrime. How
does a VPN shield you from
cyberattacks? There is an easy
solution. Encrypting your data
transmission, a VPN effectively
renders you undetectable to other
network users. This indicates that
because hackers can’t access your
information, they can’t take it.
2. Create strong passwords
One of the simplest methods
to avoid internet attacks is by
selecting strong, one-of-a-kind
passwords. Nevertheless, many
users continue to disregard it;
to avoid making the same error.
You may create a secure and
distinctive password by using
various letters (both capital and
lowercase), numbers, and even
special characters. Additionally, it’s
recommended that you use more
characters than what the system
that you are establishing the
password for calls for.
3. Update your devices
Continually update any software
on your computer, smartphone,
tablet, or other hardware. Updates
may occasionally be annoying and
time-consuming, but they prevent
hackers from taking advantage of
any vulnerabilities and security
holes that may have existed earlier.
Even if updating your gadgets won’t
shield you from cybercrime, it’s
vital if you want to protect your
data.
4. Use reliable security software
VPNs are beneficial, but they
cannot guarantee complete
information security. Additionally,
you require software like firewalls,
ad blockers, and antivirus apps.
Use protection software from wellknown
brands like Norton, McAfee,
and Kaspersky, among others.
Although you might have to spend
money on these tools, paying for
internet security is a small amount.
5. Keep certain information private
It would help if you kept some
things private online, particularly
on social networking platforms.
Don’t post private information on
social media platforms, such as
your address, phone number, or
place of employment. By doing
this, fraudsters will find it simpler
to target you. Altering the privacy
settings on your social media
profiles is also crucial. Don’t
divulge private information to the
public. Don’t share it at all, or share
it with your contacts you know and
trust. You can modify the privacy
settings on social media platforms
so that specific information is only
available to you.
FUTRE TECH
PROMINENT TRENDS RESHAPING
THE FUTURE OF IT AND BUSINESS
It is easy to become numb to the that can enable more incredible is anticipated to give network speeds
onslaught of new technologies innovation. Immersive learning and around 10 times faster than what 4G
hitting the market, each with its virtual R&D are now possible because LTE networks provide. By 2024, it is
promise of changing (more often of advancements in the metaverse anticipated that 50% of user touches
“revolutionizing”) the business of augmented and virtual reality. AI, will be augmented by AI-driven
world. , But Analysis of some of the
more critical technological trends
makes a strong argument that
something important is taking place.
Granularity, speed, and scale
are the three essential qualities
machine learning, and software 2.0
(machine-written code) advancements
have made it possible to create various
new services and products, from
connected homes to autonomous
vehicles.
speech, writing, or computer-vision
algorithms. Approximately a threefold
increase in global data production is
anticipated between 2020 and 2025.
Additionally, it is anticipated that the
market for low-code development
defining the digital era, and these
Four interconnected technological
platforms, which is altering who can
accelerate them. However, it is the
at a rate of roughly 30% CAGR through
size of these changes—in computer 1. Innovation at the edge
2030.
capability, bandwidth, and analytic
sophistication—that is allowing fresh
ideas, ventures, and business models
to emerge.
For example, the emergence of
cloud and 5G exponentially increases
compute power and network speeds
New and improved technology
will transform the commercial
environment in the following years at
a speed and scope that has never been
possible. Think about the effects of a
few significant trends. With hopes for
much greater speeds in the future, 5G
As a result of these trends,
processing power has dramatically
increased, data sets have greatly
expanded, and user access to
technology has greatly improved.
This results in a significantly faster
rate of innovation because it will be
less expensive and simpler to create,
introduce, and scale new inventions.
2. A perpetual-learning culture
Technology developments in robots,
AI, machine learning, and other fields
have accelerated transformation
tenfold. We predict that 50 billion
devices will be linked to the Industrial
Internet of Things (IIoT) by 2025
and that 70% of manufacturers will
regularly use digital twins (by 2022). By
2025, almost 70% of new applications
will use LC/NC technology, up from
less than 25% in 2020. From roughly
$500 billion in 2020, the worldwide
metaverse revenue opportunity might
reach $800 billion in 2024. According
to entrepreneur and futurist Peter
Diamandis, we can anticipate more
advancement in the following ten
years than in the previous one hundred
years due to the explosion of technical
advancements.
Businesses need to be prepared
to adopt the most promising
solutions from all front lines as the
pace and ubiquity of technologies
force innovation to the edge of the
organization. The vast potential
www.thetechnologyexpress.com
will result from this, but only for
businesses that cultivate accurate
tech intelligence through a perpetuallearning
culture. The core of this
initiative is training all levels of staff,
from “citizen developers” using simple
LC/NC tools or in novel contexts like
the metaverse to full-stack developers
and engineers who will need to
continuously evolve their abilities to
stay up with changing technologies.
3. IT as a service
By 2028, revenue from the global
cloud microservices platform market
is predicted to reach $4.2 billion, up
from $952 million in 2020. By 2025,
GitHub anticipates having 100 million
software developers and more than
200 million code repositories. Nearly
90% of developers currently make
use of APIs. Software 2.0 minimizes
complexity and develops new methods
for writing software. From 2021
through 2028, the amount of software
that businesses procure from cloudbased
platforms, open repositories,
and software as a service (SaaS) will
increase at a CAGR of 27.5 percent.
The function of IT changes
significantly when innovation is
pushed to the limit, and a perpetuallearning
culture penetrates a business.
IT cannot manage this dynamic
environment by adhering to its
conventional position as a controlling
body overseeing technology at the
center. The emphasis will now be
on IT’s capacity to foster innovation,
necessitating a change from its
traditional function as a provider of
significant tech assets to that of a
distributor of small code blocks. The
ability of IT to assist individuals in
fusing little pieces of code to create
meaningful products will serve as the
gold standard of IT effectiveness.
4. Expanded trust boundaries
By 2022, it is predicted that nearly
all biometrics-enabled devices, such
as smartphones, will be employing
biometrics for transactions. The
most effective facial-identification
algorithms have increased by 50
times during 2014, demonstrating the
substantial improvement in these
technologies’ efficacy. The relationship
between technology and its users is
becoming increasingly uneasy due
to these developments. About twothirds
of Americans are very or highly
concerned about hacking that affects
their personal information, financial
institutions, government organizations,
or some utilities, according to Pearson
Institute and the Associated Press-
NORC Center for Public Affairs.
Numerous new consumer
touchpoints will be established
due to these tremendous shifts in
technology’s power and capability,
and the amount of new customer data
will increase exponentially. While
IT’s role in the business is shifting
toward one enabler, the evolving
digital environment requires IT to
expand its trust skills in terms of
security, privacy, and cyber. For the
most part, consumers have accepted
the convenience that technology
offers, whether it be placing an online
order for a product, controlling the
temperature in their houses from a
distance, or keeping track of their
health via mobile devices. Consumers
have historically been ready to
divulge some personal information
in exchange for these benefits.
However, a persistent undercurrent of
privacy and trust issues around these
increasingly complex conveniences
is raising the stakes for the general
subject of trust. Customers demand
the ethical use of data and responsible
AI, becoming more conscious of
their identity rights, and basing their
decisions on their beliefs.
The rate of technological
advancement will inevitably continue
to quicken. Future technology leaders
will need to adopt new technologies
and develop the capacity to deal with
ongoing change and turn it into a
competitive advantage.
FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND
METAVERSE-AS-A-SERVICE
BUSINESS CHOOSES THE UAE
AS ITS HOME
Though the metaverse is
currently linked with arts,
sportswear, real estate,
and fashion retail, other
businesses, such as
healthcare, are making modest efforts
to create a presence in the fastdeveloping
virtual reality.
According to Sandra Helou, cofounder
and chief commercial officer
of Metapolis, if SaaS (softwareas-a-service)
emerges as the
well-established business model to
dominate the web2 space, the future
transition to web3 will surely see
comparable market potential for
MaaS businesses. Helou disclosed
that Metapolis has also offered to
guide clients on the full spectrum of
services – from conceptualization
through metaverse implementation
and development.
The Singapore-based firm Metapolis
revealed its plans to establish its
worldwide headquarters in Dubai
as part of its ambitious plans in the
UAE. Helou Metapolis claims that the
company, which already conducts
business in the US, Europe, and
Asia, intends to increase its physical
presence in other GCC nations, though
a specific date is yet to be set.
73% of Saudi Arabia’s residents
are worried about falling victim to
cybercrime, Cisco report
The Miami-based Metapolis,
which bills itself as the world’s
first “metaverse-as-a-service”
(MaaS) venture – a la SaaS for web2
companies – is set to make an entry
with its ambitious plans to support
businesses from all industries in the
virtual world. The UAE is poised to
witness the next stage in metaverse
development.
In order to assist all economic
sectors in the UAE and the greater
GCC area in developing new business
insights and revenue streams as well
as extending their customer and client
interactions to the virtual world, the
Metapolis MaaS platform will roll out
an end-to-end service.
The metaverse is currently largely
associated with arts, sportswear, real
estate, and fashion retail, though more
sectors, such as healthcare, are taking
baby steps to make their presence in
the fast-expanding virtual world.
“We are proud to be first-movers
in this domain,” she said. As part of
Metapolis’ aggressive plans in the
UAE and the larger region, the US
startup announced plans to set up its
international headquarters in Dubai.
Helou said the UAE – as also the
GCC region – has been tremendously
accommodating to the web3
community, and so the decision to set
up an HQ in Dubai was very natural.
“The networking opportunities [in
the region] with government entities,
other startups, and even large-scale
multinational technology companies
are huge. Our market research
very much agrees with the general
consensus that the UAE is the main
hub for blockchain and web3 for the
foreseeable future,” she said.
Helou said the metaverse is
extremely malleable, and that is the
reason it can be applied to so many
different sectors and business models.
“Our role is to facilitate this inclusion
for these sectors by breaking down
barriers to entry and being thought
and action leaders in this domain,”
she said. Helou said the company’s
WEB3
vision is to bridge the gap between the
physical and digital worlds through
seamless integration and an alwayson
layer of engagement.
“Metapolis has its sights set on
becoming ‘The Next Internet’ and
building a future for interoperability
with security, safety, and digital
identity at heart,” she said. Helou
said Metapolis would guide clients on
the entire range of services – from
ideation to metaverse deployment and
build.
