Messy Hands Art Main Library Downtown

December 1, 15, 10:30am – 11am

The focus of Messy Hands is child driven art exploration.

Messy Hands is a process based art program designed

for toddlers and preschoolers. Registration is

required. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wear your play clothes. Registration is required. There

are 28 seats available.

Indoor Storytime @ Northeast Library

Wednesdays, 12/7 – 12/28, 10:15am – 10:45am and

11am – 11:25am

Thursdays, 12/1 – 12/29, 10:15am – 10:45am and

11am – 11:25am

Families are invited to 25 minutes of books, music,

and pre-literacy activities in our Sapling room. This

fun and educational storytime is designed and supported

by ECRR (Every Child Ready to Read) research

based planning. Registration is not required and for

safety we will be enforcing the room capacity of 50.

Read to a Dog @ Northeast Library

Wednesdays, 12/7 – 12/28, 3pm – 4:15pm

Thursdays, 12/1 – 12/15, 3:30pm – 4:30pm

Come practice your reading with Griffin and Crema.

Reading will take place in the children’s area near the

paperback section. Independently reading children

ages 5 and older can practice reading to a certified

listening therapy team. Improve your reading skills

in a comfortable and fun environment with a trained

reading therapy dog and their human companion.

Appointments are made for 15 minute lengths of

Cameron Art Museum is open to the general public

with operating hours of Tuesday - Sunday: 10am -

Mary’s Art Explorers - Illumination

December 8, 10am -11am

Explore the newest exhibition Illumination. We will

read Firenze’s Light and look at all the beautiful lanterns

inside the galleries. We will create our own craft

lanterns to take home. Art Explorers is geared towards

infants, toddler and preschoolers, but big brothers and

sisters are welcome to join and create art with us. Space

is limited so preregister to guarantee your spot!

Create your own Floating Lantern to honor someone who is dear, to memorialize a cherished

family member or to treasure a special moment. CAM’s Floating Lantern Ceremony

is an expression of Remembrance, Reflection and Gratitude. CAM admission applies to

all indoor exhibitions, but no charge to attend Floating Lantern Ceremony held at CAM’s

Reflection Pond. Lantern decorating supplies available in Pancoe. Live music near pond

and hot chocolate, beverages and light food service available from CAM Café.

Based on the original tale by ETA Hoffmann, “The

Nutcracker” features all your favorite ballet traditions

like Drosselmeyer, the Sugar Plum Fairy, and

the opening weekend of our Illumination lantern display. Clyde Jones is recognized for his

wooden creations better known as “critters,” and his work has been on display at the Smithsonian

Institute and the American Visionary Art Museum.
