Did you know that on November
Would have been 100 years old?
He wrote the Peanuts Comic Strip
….... a word from our President
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving with family and a filling meal. What was on
the menu for the first Thanksgiving meal shared by the Pilgrims and Wampanoag at
Plymouth Colony in 1621? Turkey was probably not the center piece, goose or duck was
the wildfowl of choice. Venison, seafood and all of the vegetables they grew as well as
wild fruits, were on the menu. Flint, a native corn grown by the Native Americans was
eaten as corn bread or porridge. Sounds like a nice feast.
It was a pleasure working with the former Board members. They are long time members
with a lot of experience. I learned a lot from them. Let's all thank them for their service.
I look forward to working with the newly elected officers. I see an exciting year ahead
for CVC.
Now that Thanksgiving is over, we can focus on getting ready for Christmas and New
Year's. Our annual Christmas party is coming up which is always a lot of fun. This time
of year our activity schedule is light. Now is the time to think about events and runs for
next year. I wish all of you well during this holiday season.
NOVEMBER SUNSHINE & CLOUDS
Recovering
Skip Garrison gave me an update on Vicki and she was doing pretty well
until a few days ago when she hurt herself during Physical Therapy and is
in some pain. He is hoping she will be able to come home before
Christmas.
Kim & Charlie were not at the meeting because they are both recovering
from flu-like symptoms for the past week. They are taking medication and
hope to be better soon.
Jimmy Webb and Josh Bowling attended the Ron Fellows 2-day
Performance Driving School in Vegas a couple early November and had
the fantasy car experience. Jody got a few days in the casino but NO big
win in Vegas, unless you count COVID. She is feeling much better and of
course is testing negative.
Surgery Delayed
Dick surgery was delayed until December. He is feeling good enough to go
hunting so it appears nothing can really keep him down.
Post Surgical Update(s)
Steve Rosen had back/disc surgery three weeks ago and is recovering very
nicely. He should be back to “normal” soon.
Exciting News
Lori Dukes wasn’t at the meeting because she attended a live taping of the
show “The Voice”. Her friends’ daughter Alyssa Witrado was in the finale
and she drove her friend to LA to watch her performance live.
Vacation News
Tom and Emily got refreshed with a week in Cancun. Some family & friends
joined them there and they had a great time.
Steve & Lydia Garcia aren’t forgetting their passports this time and are
heading to Mexico on Saturday for a 7 day
Princess Cruise. Ironically, they are also getting on the same Cruise ship
that they were supposed to get on in Alaska. I guess Princess didn’t want
them to miss out on the experience… Bon Voyage
Video: It’s Hard to Believe the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Exists
GOOD THING WE HAVE DATALOGGERS TO PROVE IT. CARLOS LAGO PUBLISHED: 11/24/2022
We knew the 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 would be special. But even living with a "regular" C8
Corvette for a year and a little over 40,000 miles didn't adequately prepare us for how special. We
learned that after spending a day at Grattan Raceway and testing both a convertible Z06 and a coupe
Z06 equipped with the Z07 package for this video.
What's it like driving a Z06 on track? As it turns out, you spend quite a bit of time with your mouth
hanging open as that 5.5-liter V-8 spins toward 8600 rpm, making 670 horsepower and that
intoxicating flat-plane-crank howl. It's a good thing the car handles so well, too, because you want to
get back to the front straight quickly if only so you can hear it again and again.
We tested both a convertible Z06 and a coupe equipped with the high-performance Z07 package.
You've likely already read those test results. If you haven't, go click the related links below. We’ll
wait. Click on the picture above for an informative Z06 video! Click below for more on the Z06 wZ07.
Tested: 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 w/ Z07 Package
‘In the Garage’ w/Charlie
Here’s What The Z51, Z06 and ZR1 Corvette Badges Really Mean
Z51, Z06, AND ZR1 CODES HAVE BEEN ADDING MORE BRAWN TO CHEVY CORVETTES WITH
SOUPED-UP SUSPENSION, TIRE, AERODYNAMIC, AND ENGINE UPGRADE PACKAGES.
Many might not know but the Z51, Z06, and the ZR1 codes used by Chevrolet for the Corvette are
actually names of performance packages. And the "Z" fever started with the 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle
Z16. Yup, the first Z car wasn't a Corvette. The 1960s Chevy Camaro Z/28 was the car that sent
shockwaves in the muscle car world.
While it was just a simple option code for Chevy's accessory list, the Z28 evolved to become the
most famous optional package of the time. And thus started the Chevy Z fame. And it was in 1969
that the Corvette got it first Z-code with the Corvette ZL1. But now, the ZL1, along with the forgotten
ZR2 codes are used with Chevy's pickup trucks.
It is the Z51, Z06, and ZR1 that continues to performance fever for Corvettes with performance-spec
suspension, tire, aerodynamics, and engine upgrades. The C8 Corvette Z51 and Z06 are wild
machines just like its predecessors. The C8 Corvette ZR1 will be unleashed soon, and will take the
mantle of being the most powerful gas-powered Corvette.
Chevrolet Corvette Z51 Code: The Sober Performance Pack
The Z51 badge started off as a performance handling package back int he 1980s with the C4
Corvette. It included stiffer springs, larger sway bars, wider 16-inch tires wrapped around wider
wheels, and a modified steering ratio to push the Corvette's sportiness forward.
Back in the day, this package cost about $600. That's about $1,536 in today's money. Over the years,
the Z51 package has stayed true to improving the handling of a Corvette and widening the grin on
the driver's face! Chevy has also added in improved cooling, slicker tires, and even a bump in
performance over the years to this package.
Today, the Z51 bundle stays true to its origin story and continues to make the 2023 Chevrolet
Corvette Stingray drive sharper and nimbler. It includes a performance suspension with manually
adjustable spring seats, an electronic limited-slip differential, a performance rear axle ratio, bitter
and bigger Brembo brakes, heavy-duty cooling system, and stickier tires.
Performance figures also get a bump (of 5 hp and 5 lb-ft) with the Stingray's mid-mounted 6.2-Liter
V8 pumping out 495 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. It also adds a sporty rear spoiler that provides up to
400 pounds of downforce. This helps the Corvette Z51 do 0-60 mph in 3 seconds and a hit a top
speed of 194 MPH.
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Code: The Hardcore One
The Z06 package is a much wilder iteration in the Corvette Performance Car Codes. The first-ever
car to flaunt this hardcore package was the 1963 Chevy Corvette Stingray. It only lasted for one year
but came with a slew of features to convert the Stingray into a racecar for the roads! Everything from
the suspension, engine, and even the fuel tank was beefed up.
The Z06 package came back in 2001 and has since been an integral part of making all Corvettes
race-ready, ever since. But the all-new C8 Corvette Z06 opens a wild new chapter. It is America's firstever
mid-engined Z06 Corvette. Think of the Z06 as a Z51 gone ballistic! It is a proper track-ready
American supercar. And the explosive part of this car is its engine which is one of the world's most
powerful naturally aspirated V8.
It is a flat plane-crank 5.5-Liter V8 engine that churns out 670 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. This bad
boy does 0-60 mph in just 2.6 seconds! It packs everything that the Z51 packs. But all of it has been
dialed up to 11 in the Z06 to handle better, stop better, and make your grin wider! Also, this is the
only code that is present as a model, and not a package. The latest Z06 has made people go gaga.
So much so, that a dealer recently tried to sell a 2023 C8 Corvette Z06 for a staggering $100,000
over the MSRP!
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Code: One That Gives The Ultimate Chills
The most powerful Corvettes are born with the "ZR1" tag. It all started with the 1970s Chevy Corvette
ZR1 that came with a 370 hp LT1 small-block engine. Interestingly there was also a ZR2 that was
offered for one year, in 1972 that packed an impressive 425 hp.
To give you a perspective, the most powerful American muscle car of the time, the 1970 Chevrolet
Chevelle SS454 LS6, packed 450 hp! There have been only four of these insane Corvettes and the
last one was the Chevrolet C7 Corvette ZR1 with 755 hp and 715 lb-ft of torque! It was the mostpowerful
Corvette till date, and still remains so. It packed a LT5 6.2-Liter V8 that had an Eaton
supercharged as its crown.
Apart from the beastly engine, the ZR1 Corvette also came with insane aerodynamic upgrades to
stay glued to the tamrac at all times! While people consider the C7 Corvette ZR1 to be the ultimate
Corvette ever, it's all going to change as the first-ever mid-engined ZR1 is incoming!
The Upcoming C8 Corvette ZR1 Is Going To Be Insane
Chevrolet is actively testing the C8 Corvette ZR1. It will supposedly pack the same 5.5-Liter flat-plane
crank V8 than the standard Corvette Z06 packs. But the twist here is that it will be twin-turbocharged,
and is expected to pump out a staggering 850 hp and 750 lb-ft of torque. It will also be much meanerlooking
that the existing C8 Corvette line-up.
And it will continue to be a RWD layout with the eight-speed DCT gearbox as the only option. The
ZR1 is slated to the most-powerful ICE Corvette because there is an all-electric C8 Corvette incoming
with a whopping 1,000+ hp! And don't worry, there will surely be a "Z" package for it.
C8 Corvette Z Mode
It's not to be confused with any of the above models, but all C8 Corvettes have a new feature:
Z Mode. Enabled by a button on the steering wheel's left spoke, Z Mode provides instant access to
a customized calibration of the driver's preferred suspension, steering, and powertrain settings. The
C8 will also have Chevrolet-defined modes ranging from performance and comfort, but Z Mode
activates the driver's personalized mix at the touch of a button.
So why the Z? It's a tribute to the vision of Zora Arkus-Duntov, the GM engineer and so-called "father
of the Corvette." He knew a mid-engine layout would elevate the vehicle to new heights, but didn't
live to see it come to fruition. Article by: TIJO TENSON, HOTCARS.COM - PUBLISHED 11-23-22

Scavenger hunts are fun, exciting group activities that you can tailor to your organization's theme. As
few as two people can enjoy a hunt, but it works very well with a large group. The event can take place
over a couple of hours or more than a few days. For a group of car enthusiasts, a scavenger hunt can be
a very entertaining way to bond over a love of cars, while sharing the thrill of the game, spending time
with friends and having a few laughs.
The Clovis Rodeo Parade will return on Saturday, April 29, 2023
Many people will tell you one of their best rodeo memories is one of the countless rodeo parades they
either participated in or watched growing up in Clovis. Those parades gave them an appreciation for
the “Clovis Way of Life.” The parade continues to be a memory many of us want to share with our
own families, our children and grandchildren.
Traditionally held the Saturday of rodeo week, more than 120 entries in 27 different categories wind
through the streets of “Old Town Clovis” to the cheers of the thousands of parade fans lining the
route. Whether you come for the marching bands, horse drawn vehicles, mounted groups, novelty
acts or the themed floats it is certain to be worth the trip.
The town of Clovis comes out to celebrate their western heritage and recognize the numerous
schools, service organizations, western riders, youth groups and businesses who come together to
participate in one of the most anticipated events of Clovis Rodeo weekend.
The theme floats will compete for the $1,500 in prize money and the overall Sweepstakes Award
while sharing in many fond memories of a Saturday morning on the streets of Clovis.
