The <strong>Distinguished</strong> <strong>Scholars</strong> Program <strong>at</strong> Montverde Academy will provide opportunities for intellectual<br />
rigor and stimul<strong>at</strong>ion both in and out of the classroom, throughout high school, for identified and qualified<br />
students. Classroom coursework, discussions, field trips, and seminars will be designed to support<br />
and encourage an enriched intellectual <strong>at</strong>mosphere. <strong>Distinguished</strong> <strong>Scholars</strong> will be expected to accept<br />
the challenge of dedic<strong>at</strong>ing themselves to the highest level of scholastic pursuit. Upon completion of<br />
the <strong>Distinguished</strong> <strong>Scholars</strong> Program, each participant will be prepared to successfully <strong>at</strong>tend the most<br />

• Above-average standardized test scores<br />
(7th stanine and above)<br />
• Strong record of academic performance prior to entering the<br />
program (all As and Bs)<br />
Program requirements<br />
• Three or more Honors or AP ® courses each semester<br />
• Minimum of five AP credits<br />
• Minimum GPA of 3.7 (weighted) throughout the program<br />
• Course requirements:<br />
- English (4 credits)<br />
- M<strong>at</strong>hem<strong>at</strong>ics (4 credits)<br />
- Science (4 credits)<br />
- Social Studies (4 credits)<br />
- World Language (3 credits, 4 recommended)<br />
• Exemplary behavior<br />
Students who are members of the SAC programs fall under the<br />
<strong>Distinguished</strong> <strong>Scholars</strong> design<strong>at</strong>ion as long as they meet the<br />
