Our story
Cinas was founded under the name Carl J.
Nielsen in 1903.
Since the 1980s, the company has developed
into the design, import and distribution company
that we see today.
All of our products are made with carefully
selected manufacturers in the Far East, where
the cooperation has functioned for generations.
High-quality requirements are incorporated into
this network, ensuring that our products always
live up to our quality and finishing standards.
We focus on furniture and accessories that
emphasize their simplicity and functional
expression, but still with a stylish edge with our
design philosophy in mind: “A design is
incomplete until someone uses it.”

Indoor
Our indoor collection is known for combining innovative
materials and commercial designs. All products are
designed to fit into every contemporary setting.
The collection consists of a wide range of commodities
from durable carbonized bamboo to painted mahogany,
Teakwoodwood and eco-friendly recycled polyester.
The collection balances a strong focus on environmental
concerns with Scandinavian aesthetics. Results from this
comes alive in this 2023 indoor collection which favors
function, comfort, CSR and style.
Even though Cinas was founded more than 100 years ago,
we still aim at keeping the standards high and the prices
affordable with a high emphasis on reliability.

“A product’s lifetime is crucial to the environmental
load. It is a going concern if the aim
is to operate in the most sustainable way
possible. Products in use for a long time lead
to a significantly less environmental impact
than those wasted after a few years and
needing regular replacement. The joy and
satisfaction of a product that also stays
spectacular and functional year after year,
just gives sustainability a different meaning.”
Bamboo grows extremely fast and is ready to harvest in
4-6 years. Bamboo regenerates itself from its existing root
system and is one of the fastest growing plants on earth.
Giving 25 times more wood per hectare per year than
traditional hardwood forests, it is an extremely sustainable
material, and our natural choice for furniture.
Fresh bamboo has a yellowish natural color, however, the
bamboo we use for our furniture has gone through a
steaming process (carbonizing) to gain the warm glow
similar to untreated oak or teakwood.
Vertical carbonized bamboo
We have developed vertical carbonized bamboo production
for use in our furniture. The vertical bamboo strips are glued
and pressed together giving a slim and straight-line pattern
with subdued bamboo shoot visible at the surface.

Mahogany & Teakwood
Polyester felt
There are good reasons for selecting products made from
wood. As well as being a beautiful, vibrant and natural material
that feels good to touch, wood is a renewable resource.
Unlike many other materials based on oil, coal or metals,
wood is sustainable, recyclable, and decomposes naturally.
From the perspective of climate control, our willingness and
determination to manage forest resources is crucial, and
consumers and producers need to know whether a piece of
timber has sustainable origins.
We began making felt baskets containing recycled polyester
from plastic waste in 2010 – in order to transform waste into
stylish products. Plastic is made from oil, which is a limited
resource. A composition of new supplies combined with
recycled material is carded into small threads, pressed and
heated into polyester felt material. The end product becomes
soft, strong and helps regain wasted resources into new consumer
products.
Certification systems backed by the EU and responsible
timber producing countries document the path from forest
to consumer, and Cinas has a firm policy in this regard. All
of our timber and finished wood products are procured from
producers covered by the two.
