INDUSTRY-WIDE CHALLENGE #1: RESISTANCE TO CHANGEResistance to Change and Change Management is an ongoing top-tier challenge tobusiness agility adoption. Change programs are resisted, not only because of thesignificant shift that it represents, but also the methods by which change programs areimplemented and communicated.RecommendationKeep focus on “why” the change is underway in the first place. Frequentlyquoted examples from respondents are the viability of the business in the faceof competition or COVID-related disruption, enabling faster time to market, andgreater employee engagement or ownership of the work.RecommendationAllocate sufficient time to support staff early in the change. Resistance emergeswhen staff are asked to learn new skills above what they perceive as their coreresponsibilities at work. The suggestion from industry practitioners is to make timeearly in the change for training, and to deploy specialist staff such as coaches tosupport the change.19
