CPD Course Catalog Spring 2023 _ Continuing Professional Development

Continuing Professional Development- CPD, is the ongoing process of developing, maintaining, and documenting your professional skills. These skills may be gained formally, through courses or training, or informally, on the job or by watching others. Some professions use the term 'continuing professional development’ formally and require a certain amount of development activity to be carried out and documented each year as a condition of maintaining your membership of, or registration with, a professional body, or a license to operate in that field. In other areas, CPD is used more informally. A commitment to learning and improving is, however, generally expected of anyone in a professional capacity. FOR ORGANIZATIONS: In today’s testing business environment, with organizational transformation and regulatory change constant features, a flexible and cost-effective workforce is critical. High-quality training is a crucial element of innovative talent management, to improve performance and ensure your teams can respond to today’s challenges and are equipped for career success. FOR INDIVIDUALS: Engaging in Continuing Professional Development ensures that both academic and practical qualifications do not become outdated or obsolete; allowing individuals to continually ‘up skill’ or ‘re-skill’ themselves, regardless of occupation, age, or educational level. CPD enables individuals to positively adjust to changes in work/industry requirements while also demonstrating a strong commitment to self-development and professionalism.

TRANSCATIONS &
FRAUD SCHEMES
Fraud is a global problem affecting economies, businesses, and
individuals. A serious threat to any company independent of sector
and size – and it is on the rise globally and nationally. It is estimated
that a typical organization loses 5% of its annual revenue because of
fraud. Consequently, all organizations, irrespective of their business
sector, are nowadays more susceptible to fraudulent acts and there
is an increased need for enhancing fraud awareness in
organizations.
The course explores the types of fraudulent financial transactions
incurred in accounting records and helps gain a deeper
understanding of the following concepts: basic accounting and
auditing theory, fraud schemes, internal controls to deter fraud, and
other auditing and accounting matters.
This course is a supplemental study tool for the Certified Fraud
Examiner (CFE) Exam Prep course. The Certified Fraud Examiner
(CFE®) is a globally accepted certification for professionals, by far
the world’s best known and the standard by which individuals can
demonstrate their competency in the anti-fraud fields.
PROCUREMENT
FRAUD: THINKING
BEYOND THE
OBVIOUS
7 CPD UNITS
Procurement Fraud comes in many forms and can increase the cost of
procurement by an additional staggering amount of 10%. Consequently,
this additional cost will create problems with the project’s budget and
have important financial and other implications for an organization.
Other critical implications consist of Reputational damage and Health
and Safety issues. Therefore, it is universally accepted that combating
procurement fraud is vital because of the devastating impact it can
have on organizations.
Enhancing fraud awareness and introducing effective preventative and
detective measures are necessary tools in successfully combating
procurement fraud and avoiding significant financial losses. For private
companies, successfully addressing procurement fraud can increase
profits and for governments minimizing the risk of procurement fraud
can effectively enhance its reputation and improve its public services
thus attracting more foreign investment as it will become a more
attractive destination.
AML LEGISLATION:
‘THINKING OUT OF
THE BOX ‘
Compliance with the Anti-Money Laundering legislation and
regulations have become critical for various sectors of the economy
such as the financial, the legal etc. Auditors, accountants, lawyers,
and administrative service providers are required to always comply
with the demanding regulations placed by the EU regulations, local
legislation, and local Regulatory Authorities (e.g., ICPAC, CYSEC,
Central Bank of Cyprus etc.). This workshop targets professionals
that have already attended the basic AML course and would like to
work exclusively with scenarios/case studies.
The participants will be exposed to various scenarios some of which
will be fictitious, and some will be derived from real life examples
and will have to identify risks involved and the course of action as to
comply at all times with the AML legislation and/or regulations. The
workshop will be run using a hands-on approach and is very
interactive.
COMMUNICATION
SKILLS FOR
MANAGERS &
SUPERVISORS
Communication is vital to management. Whether working for a
manufacturer, restaurant, service firm, hospital, or software developer,
somewhere between 70-90% of a manager's time is spent communicating.
Organizational decisions are highly dependent on the quality and quantity
of information being exchanged. Poor or incomplete information can
negatively impact a manager's ability to successfully make decisions.
7 CPD UNITS
This training course helps managerial employees and supervisors better
SANCTIONS
ESSENTIALS OF
COMPLIANCE
Failure to comply with sanctions entails risks and challenges for a
business. Regulations are continually changing in response to
changing geopolitical events. Therefore, developing up to date,
knowingly or unknowingly provide sanctioned individuals/entities
with tools that make possible the evasion of sanctions. The basic idea
behind how to handle sanctioned individuals and entities is clear and
easy to understand, but the details behind the risks and threats that
may arise for a firm are significant.
The expected learning outcomes from this seminar are the following:

Understand what sanctions are
Understand how sanctions impact your business
Get a grasp of the essential compliance obligations
For private
companies, successfully addressing procurement fraud can increase
profits and for governments minimizing the risk of procurement fraud
can effectively enhance its reputation and improve its public services
thus attracting more foreign investment as it will become a more
attractive destination.
we work. It is quite natural to fear change and to want to cling on to the
security of the status quo – change can be difficult and stressful, and it
can cause us a lot of anxiety. But it doesn’t need to be that way. Change
can also bring opportunities of which we can take advantage: progress
and growth on individual, organisational and societal levels all come from
change. This course looks at positive responses to change so that the
individual and the organisation can prosper through change and use it to
their advantage.
AVAILABLE TITLES
BIG DATA | CPD POINTS 1.5 | €40+VAT
The world of business is being transformed by a data revolution. We now have
access to unprecedented volumes of data. Never before in history have
companies collected and had access to more data. And never before have we
had the ability to analyse it to gain new insights and completive advantages.
What’s more, we are only at the beginning of this revolution. Data volumes are
growing at exponential rates – just think of all the internet transactions,
searches, social media conversations, YouTube videos, etc. This offers new
opportunities and challenges for every business. Would you like to understand
this data revolution and the benefits it could bring you and your company?
Would you like to learn how leading companies – big and small, private, and
public – are leveraging big data to deliver business benefits?
BITCOIN & BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGIES | CPD POINTS 1 | €30+VAT
A new world of cryptocurrency is seeing exponential growth, causing a turn in
the economy as well as presenting new challenges in the way we do business.
While there are around 1600 types of cryptocurrencies available over the
internet, it is Bitcoin that has experienced the fiercest value fluctuation of all.
Meanwhile, an accidental discovery has led to much hype around the
formations of a decentralised digital ledger, a new and exciting technology that
we now call Blockchain. This has sparked a global debate as to whether this
new way of recording transactions could be the solution we have been
searching for, in bridging the gap with data protection, digital security and
authentication. Many organisations and research facilities already have a
taste for the types of answers to digital problems that this new technology
could bring.
ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE | CPD POINTS 1 | €30+VAT
From Siri to self-driving cars, AI (Artificial Intelligence) is progressing
rapidly. More will change in the next two decades than in the past 200
years. A captivating conversation is taking place about the future of AI and
what it could mean for humanity. Fascinating controversies where the
world’s leading experts disagree, e.g.: AI’s impact on the job market:
whether it will lead to an intelligence explosion; and whether it’s
something we should welcome or fear. But there are also many cases of
pseudo-controversies caused by people misunderstanding and talking
past each other. To help focus on the interesting controversies and open
questions, not on the misunderstandings, we attempt to clear up some of
the most common myths. This informative course will benefit anyone who
is interested in an overview of the evolution and progression of AI in
today’s world, and how it is poised to disrupt the way we work.
SMARTER THINKING, SMARTER WORKING | CPD POINTS 1 | €30+VAT
Accountants and other managers wanting to know how to use both halves
of their brain to get more from it, think both logically and strategically,
and keep one step ahead of colleagues.
