and member base of the Alabama Association of Real
Estate Brokers (AAREB), a State Board of the National
Association of Real Estate Brokers, Inc. (NAREB). NAREB
is the oldest minority real estate trade association in America
with the motto and mission of “Democracy In Housing”. Members
of our organization are known as REALTIST® and we have made substantial
contributions to the real estate and housing industries by working diligently to provide
housing for all without limitations or restrictions.
To my fellow REALTIST® over the State of Alabama, we are excited that you are here in
the historic City of Mobile, Alabama to learn tactics and strategies to grow your business,
network with like minded industry professionals & explore our rich African American
History. We look forward to continuing the networking pipeline with REALTIST®
Professionals throughout the State of Alabama and the United States. AAREB’s purpose
is to enhance the economic improvement of its members, the community at large, and the
minority community which we serve. We also strive to unite those engaged in the
recognized branches of the real estate industry including brokerage, management,
mortgage financing, appraising, land development, home building, and allied fields for the
purpose of exerting influence on real estate interests.

Karen Love Hansberry is a Housing Loan Specialist with the City of
Mobile’s Community Housing Development and Neighborhood
Development departments, a HUD Certified Housing Counselor, and
a Realtor with Berkshire Hathaway. She has over 14 years of
experience in property management, asset management, program
management, finance operations and affordable housing compliance.
She is actively involved in the Mobile community and currently
represents the mayor’s office on the Mobile Community Action Board
of Directors.
Karen collaborates with local lenders, realtors, housing counseling
organizations, and supports Neighborhood Development nonprofit
partnerships. She believes safe/stable homeownership and securing
economic self-reliance is the key to build generational wealth for
individuals and families. She is passionate about the City’s mission
to provide successful homeownership
opportunities and sustainable housing
while reducing barriers to both.
Reshonda Sparks has served in the banking industry for the past
16 years with a great extent of knowledge in various banking
departments. She recently served as branch manager and Loan
officer for the past 4 years. Reshonda has now joined the
mortgage banker team and is ready to help provide service and
education. Reshonda delivers quality service while providing
knowledge for the best result. She lives in Sylacauga, AL and
enjoys spending time with family.

Andrea’s singular goal is to make every client a client for
life. As a successful, Realtor®, she has extensive
knowledge of the Gulf Coast area and has seen the ups and
downs of the market. For over 10 years, she has helped
many clients find the home that is perfect for their lifestyle
or sell their home to the enthusiastic buyer. A background
in business administration provides a strong foundation for
properly managing a brokerage, evaluating market
conditions to determine the right course of action for
buyers, sellers, landlords and investors.
Andrea acts as an advocate for her clients and takes the
trust they place in her very seriously. She is also a certified
HUD Housing Counselor (NAREB-NID) and certified Short
Sale and Foreclosure Resource (NAR). Andrea serves as a
member of the Alabama Association of Realtors®, Mobile
Area Association of Realtors®, where she currently serves on the Governmental Affairs Forum
and Education Committee (previously served on Board of Directors and Grievance Committee),
the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (Past President of the local board), National
Association of Realtors® and the National Center for Housing Management. She also currently
serves on the Alabama Real Estate Educators Association (AREEA) Board of Directors and is an
Alabama Licensed Real Estate Instructor with the Walter-James School of Real Estate. Andrea
holds several designations and certifications in the housing arena.
Teresa Bettis is the Executive Director of the Center for Fair
Housing, Inc. Professionally, she has more than thirty-one years
of experience in public works. Among those years, she has
served as the Executive Director for the Center for Fair Housing,
Inc., a private non-profit civil rights organization for the last
twenty-two years, where she oversees numerous programs and
initiatives as well as manages a staff of six, while serving 8
counties in Southwest Alabama. During her time as Executive
Director for the Center for Fair Housing, Inc. (the Center), she
has served as an advocate for preservation of community and
justice, while bringing recognition for those who have not had a
voice.
Currently, she is the appointed point person and member of the
South Alabama Economic Roundtable. She also, oversees the
Fair Housing Coalition, and serves as NAACP Housing Chair.

Tonya Smitherman is the 3rd VP of Alabama Association of Real
Estate Brokers, 1st VP of Birmingham Realtist Association, a
Certified Alabama Real Estate Instructor, and Associate Broker
with eXp Realty. Tonya is a Board of Director for the Birmingham
Association of Realtors and AREAA Greater Birmingham. She has
been certified as an Investor Agent who specializes in working
with residential and commercial investors desiring to Buy and
Hold, Fix & Flip or Wholesale properties. She is one of the
managing Partners of BATS & Associates School of Real Estate,
BATS & Associates RE Team LLC and owner of Ladybug Properties
LLC Real Estate Investing Company. Tonya loves working with
buyers, sellers and investors. She serves as the Executive Director
of the non-profit organization Alliance Community Development
Corporation. She has over 20 years of Financial Investment
Banking experience and love helping others. Real Estate allows her
to help others and give back in the form of
education and collaborating with the customers, business associates
and students to meet their Real Estate needs. She believes in

Calebe Herring is a 15 year resident of Alabama, and a graduate
of both North Carolina A&T and the University of Alabama at
Birmingham. After a 10+ year career in education, Calebe fell in
love with real estate and all things housing. He has completed
various property renovations, acquisitions/depositions, and contract
“flips”, and is now growing his own property rental portfolio without the
use of debt-- all while encouraging others to benefit from home
ownership and real estate investment.

Cassandra Chandler is the Chief Executive Officer of the
Chandler Group and the Chief Operations Officer of a Medical
Rehabilitation Clinic. She is a native of Birmingham, AL and has
a Bachelor of Science Degree with a concentration in Real
Estate Finance from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa,
AL. Cassandra has over 20 years in the Real Estate Industry and
her exceptional experience in business and Commercial Real
Estate has led her to a successful Real Estate career. She has
represented several local and out of state clients in
acquisitions, dispositions, tenant, and landlord representation
including the City of Birmingham Water Works, Southwestern
Athletic Conference (SWAC), and the Birmingham Urban
League. In 2012 she was named the #1 Commercial Sales
Agent within her company, 2014 became the first Female
African American in the State of Alabama to receive the
Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation
and currently sits on the Alabama CCIM Board. Cassandra’s
passions extend beyond Real Estate, as she is dedicated to
giving back to her community as well.
Jennifer Campbell is the CEO of The Credit Laboratory LLC in
Mobile, AL, which was founded in 2019. She has a Bachelor’s
Degree in Business Administration & Finance and a Paralegal
Certification. She is also a certified First-Class Pipe Welder. To
date she has helped over 400 individuals master their credit and
reach their credit goals. This year it is her goal to help 100
families overcome unfavorable credit and become homeowners.

Machelle Lee has been in the Residential/Commercial lending
and finance arena for more than 30 years. She is the owner of
OMEGA Mortgage LLC empowered by NEXA Mortgage LLC.
Machelle is well versed in every aspect of residential and
commercial financing and has helped hundreds of investors &
homebuyers to attain properties. Her mastery of guidelines
allows her to identify the best product for her client’s needs.
When necessary, she is capable of thinking outside the box to
secure financing that otherwise would collapse. It’s more than
just a job for her, but rather a ministry that she pours her heart
into. The effectiveness of her impact on realtors, buyers and
investors is manifested in the many referrals that make up the
bulk of her business.
Machelle was born and raised in Miami, FL and spent 18 years in Brooklyn, NY where she
gained great financial insights. She moved to Metro-Atlanta in 2014 after marrying her
husband, Reginald Lee. Machelle is proud to be a mother and devoted grandmother. She
enjoys spending quality time and travelling the world with family members creating lasting
memories.
