FROM THE MANAGER

IAN EVATT

GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME BACK TO THE UNIVERSITY OF BOLTON STADIUM FOR

THIS AFTERNOON’S SKY BET LEAGUE ONE FIXTURE AGAINST CHELTENHAM TOWN.

Welcome to Wade Elliott, his staff

and players, and all the travelling

supporters who have made their

way up to the North West today.

Like us, Cheltenham are in the

semi-finals of the Papa Johns

Trophy later this month, and will

be wanting to make sure they get

to that fixture with a good run of

form under their belts. They are a

difficult team to play against and

we’ll have to show our usual good

energy and sharpness in front of

goal if we are to get the result we

want.

Looking back at the last couple

of games, I am obviously happy

with both victories following the

disappointing defeat against Derby

County. It was an uncharacteristic

performance by us but to bounce

back immediately with successive

wins has been very pleasing.

We had to dig deep and show

some real resolve to beat Forest

Green after our game plan turned

on its head. Much has been written

about the sending off and I don’t

wish to add anything further, but

to play the majority of the game

with a man down in those

circumstances and to see

out the victory illustrated

our battling qualities and

appetite to win.

Last weekend, at The Valley,

it was a different

kind of game. The

Addicks have been

on a good run of

form since Dean

Holden came in and

it was always going

to be a challenge to

beat them on their own soil. We

got off to an excellent start with

that sublime free-kick from Aaron

Morley and could have scored a

few more before they got back

into it just after half time. But we

got our just rewards thanks to Dion

Charles who showed his natural

instinct in front of goal to restore

our lead.

The only criticism I could find from

that game was that we should

have put the game beyond them

in the first half. But we are creating

plenty of chances in games and

the goals will come.

The transfer window closed earlier

in the week and I am more than

happy with the business we have

done over the month. A lot is made

of the deadline day itself but the

recruitment process is ongoing so

that when the window opens, be

that in the summer or in January,

we are ready to get recruits in.

This window has been no

exception and we are delighted

to have brought in Randell

Williams, Dan Nlundulu, Shola

Shoretire, Cameron Jerome, Victor

Adeboyejo and Luke Mbete.

Cameron and Victor joined in

time for the Charlton game and

will be a tremendous boost for

our frontline. Cameron’s

experience will be

invaluable, while

Victor has showed

his prowess in front

of goal for Burton

this season.

Luke is the

latest player we

have brought in on loan from a

top Premier League club, joining

the likes of James Trafford and

Conor Bradley, and the recent

acquisitions of Dan and Shola.

That the top clubs are letting

their young talents join us on a

temporary basis highlights the trust

and faith they have in how we go

about our business.

Huge thanks to Sharon and

the Board for their support in

strengthening the squad, while full

credit must go to Chris Markham

and the recruitment team for their

work in identifying the right type of

players to enhance our squad.

Following the departure of Dapo

Afolayan and Amadou Bakayoko

earlier in the window, we also said

goodbye to Will Aimson while

Kieran Sadlier joined Leyton Orient

on loan until the end of the season.

We received an offer we felt was

acceptable for Will. Exeter offered

him a really good contract and we

thank Will for everything he’s done.

In the last six weeks, in particular,

he was outstanding and his

professionalism has been superb.

‘Sads’ is at an age where he wants

to be playing regular first-team

football and wants to be starting

every single week, and at the

moment we couldn’t offer him that.

We always try to do right by our

players and we allowed him to go

out on loan.

Enjoy the game and thank you for

your loyal support.

Ian.

Social Media Man of the Match: Kyle Dempsey

Ten-man Wanderers held on for

an important three points against

relegation-threatened Forest Green

Rovers at the University of Bolton

Stadium.

Dion Charles’ superb finish gave

Wanderers an early lead, but the striker

was sent off in a case of mistaken

identity following an altercation

between Elias Kachunga and Brandon

Cooper.

The visitors inevitably had plenty of the

ball during the remaining three quarters

of the game but Ian Evatt’s side showed

tremendous commitment and the

willingness to cover ground to see out

the game and keep a clean sheet.

The Robins

[ LAST FIVE SEASONS ]

DID YOU KNOW?

The team started life in a deep red

playing kit which inspired a nickname

of “The Rubies.” In 1903 they adopted

the colours which are still worn, red

and white. Over the years the style

has varied, including plain shirts and

hoops but striped shirts have proved

recently popular. The new colours

led to a change in nickname to “The

THE SPINE OF THE TEAM

GOALKEEPER | LUKE SOUTHWOOD

AGE: 25 | ON LOAN FROM READING

Currently on loan from Championship side Reading, Southwood has been a regular

between the sticks for the Robins this term with 31 appearances so far. During that

time he has kept 10 clean sheets.

Capped once by Northern Ireland on the international stage, the Oxford-born stopper

came through the youth ranks at Reading to make his senior debut whilst on loan at

Bath City during the 2017/18 season with his Royals debut coming in September 2020

after spending the previous season (2019/20) on loan at Hamilton Academical.

Making 26 appearances for Reading last term, Southwood fell down the pecking

order in the summer following the arrivals of Joe Lumley and Dean Bouzanis at the

Madejski Stadium and subsequently joined Wade Elliott’s side on loan.

CENTRE BACK | CALEB TAYLOR

AGE: 20 | ON LOAN FROM WEST BROMWICH ALBION

Having only turned 20 years of age a couple of weeks ago, Taylor has gained an

invaluable education and experience during his time on loan at Cheltenham Town

from Championship side West Bromwich Albion this season.

Playing a couple of times for the Baggies’ U21s side in the Football League Trophy

in 2020/21, last season he made three first team appearances for the club.

Starting in a 6-0 EFL Cup defeat to Arsenal, Taylor came off the bench in an FA Cup

defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion and also in a league victory against Barnsley.

This season, he has made 30 appearances for Cheltenham and scored his first

senior goal in the Robins’ 3-2 home defeat to Derby County on his 20th birthday in

the middle of last month.

CENTRE MIDFIELDER | LIAM SERCOMBE

AGE: 32 | PREVIOUS CLUB: BRISTOL ROVERS

A vastly experienced midfielder at this level, Sercombe adds guile and know-how to

Cheltenham Town’s midfield department. Familiar with the South West of the country, he came

through the ranks at hometown club Exeter City to make his professional debut for the Grecians

in August 2007.

He would go onto make a total of 263 appearances (23 goals) for the club before a move

to Oxford United in May 2015. Spending two seasons with the U’s, Sercombe made 101

appearances (22 goals) before signing for Bristol Rovers in May 2017.

Impressing during just over three years at the Memorial Stadium, he racked up 127 appearances

(19 goals) before Cheltenham Town completed his capture. Playing a key role in Cheltenham

Town’s title-winning campaign in 2020/21, he’s well beyond a century of appearances for the

Robins with his career total standing above 600 appearances.

STRIKER | ALFIE MAY

AGE: 29 | PREVIOUS CLUB: DONCASTER ROVERS

May has enjoyed the best spell of his career in the professional game since his

move to Cheltenham Town three years ago from Doncaster Rovers. He has 10

goals to his name so far this term, with 4 goals in his last 6 appearances.

Last season, he managed an impressive 26 goals in 53 appearances following

on from the 13 goals he managed during Cheltenham’s League Two title winning

campaign (2020/21). The Kent-born frontman spent time in the youth ranks at

Millwall before dropping into non-league to get his senior career underway.

Catching the eye with prolific goalscoring at Erith & Belvedere and Hythe Town, he

was offered his chance in the professional game by Doncaster Rovers in January

2017. During three years in South Yorkshire, he made 117 appearances (23 goals).

THE BOSS…

The 44 year-old former midfielder took charge of Cheltenham Town

last summer following Michael Duff’s departure to Barnsley. A former

teammate of Duff’s at Burnley, Elliott was promoted to the position of

Head Coach from his position on Duff’s coaching staff after the latter

swapped Gloucestershire for South Yorkshire.

Currently 18th in League One and four points above the relegation zone,

Elliott will primarily be aiming to steer the Robins clear of the bottom four

whilst looking to at least match last season’s 15th-place finish.

As a player, Elliott was released by hometown club Southampton as

a teenager and dropped into non-league with Bashley before being

offered his chance in the professional game by Bournemouth. After five

years at Dean Court (2000-2005), he spent six at Turf Moor with Burnley

(2005-2011) before finishing his career with spells at Birmingham City and

Bristol City.

MARLAND’S

MUSINGS

One hundred years ago on

the 3rd February 1923 the

Wanderers continued their

march towards a place in

history with a second round

FA Cup tie against Leeds

United at Burnden Park.

Since the first-round success

at Norwich City, Bolton had

played two First Division

games both against Sheffield

United, drawing both, 1-1 at

Burnden and 2-2 at Bramall

Lane.

The only change to the cup

side was at left back where

Percy Thirkell came in for

the injured Alec Finney. This

was to be his only FA Cup

appearance for the club, he

remained with the Wanderers

until 1925, joining Tranmere

THE LADS OF ’23.

Rovers where he played 175

games. He passed away in Bolton

in 1997 aged 96.

Second Division Leeds United had

risen from the ashes of Leeds City

who had been expelled from the

League in 1919 for paying players

during the First World War. A crowd

of 43,341, the best of the season

to date, saw the Peacocks take

the lead through inside left Jack

Swan and it looked like they were

going to be disappointed until cup

talisman David Jack, who didn’t

touch the ball for a 23-minute spell

in the first half, equalised.

This proved to be the catalyst as

the Yorkshire sides defence began

WANDERERS

MATTERS WITH

CLUB HISTORIAN

to collapse. Captain, Joe

Smith, (pictured) put Bolton

ahead with a cross-drive

and Jack weaved his way

through a crowd of players

to put the ball into the net

from close range to secure a

3-1 win and qualification for

the third round for the first

time since the war.

Greater tests were to lie

ahead when the draw was

made. A visit to Leeds

Road to face cup holders

Huddersfield Town wasn’t

the draw from heaven but

Bolton took solace that they

had already dented their

championship hopes by

completing the double over

them without conceding a

goal.

#29 VICTOR

ADEBOYEJO

20 | The Wanderer 01204 328 888

VICTOR ADEBOYEJO WILL STEP OUT AT THE

UNIVERSITY OF BOLTON STADIUM FOR THE FIRST

TIME THIS AFTERNOON.

But he already knows he’s

following in big footsteps as a

Wanderers’ player.

Adeboyejo’s signing by the Whites

just over a week ago means

he’s travelling the same path

as boyhood inspiration Jay Jay

Okocha.

And for a Nigerian-born player

successfully making his way in the

professional game and about to

mimic his idol, it means a lot.

“He was a massive hero,” said

Adeboyejo as he looked forward

to donning the same colours as the

player remembered as an-all time

Wanderers’ great.

“I’m sure a lot of young Nigerian

boys growing up would say to

anyone that would ask that Jay Jay

was their uncle!

“I was definitely one of them. He

was a big player for Nigeria and, of

course, for Bolton in his time here.

“He’s someone I’ve looked up

to and to be here and see the

impact of how big the club is, is just

amazing.”

Okocha, of course, starred for

Wanderers in their Premier League

days, helping the side managed by

Sam Allardyce qualify for Europe

and reach the final of the League

Cup almost two decades ago.

That makes him a tough act

to follow but with Wanderers

looking upwards under Ian Evatt,

Adeboyejo will do what he can to

try and mimic his countryman on

the route back towards the top.

“However I can help I’m going to

look to try and do that,” he added.

“Fighting at the right end of the

table and pushing for promotion.

It will be nice to help out as much

I can.”

THERE’S

NOTHING

THAT BEATS

A WINNING

FEELING

AND GOING

ON THAT

JOURNEY

BACK

SMILING.

Adeboyejo’s arrival from

Burton Albion will certainly help

Wanderers’ cause as they look to

stay with the pace at the top end of

League One.

The 25-year-old had scored 13

times this season for a Burton

side fighting to beat the drop after

spending just six months with the

Brewers.

Getting the chance to play as a

central striker, having previously

operated in wider attacking

roles during a four-year spell

with Barnsley interspersed with

loan spells at Bristol Rovers and

Cambridge United, saw him

blossom.

And in a Wanderers’ side fluent

in attack and capable of creating

plenty of chances, Adeboyejo is

looking to flourish further.

www.bwfc.co.uk

The Wanderer | 21

“That was the idea, going into

the season and showing what I

can do playing regularly and I’m

grateful to Burton for giving me that

opportunity,” he added.

“I’ve always seen myself as that

sort of focal point and I wanted to

be that.

“I was able to show my qualities

and I’m grateful for the opportunity

to be here now. Hopefully I can

continue with it.”

Adeboyejo was able to share in a

winning start last Saturday when

he came off the bench at Charlton

Athletic to help Wanderers secure

an impressive 2-1 victory at

Charlton Athletic with an eyecatching

cameo full of pace, power

and penetration.

He looked immediately at home

after meeting his team-mates for

the first time as he boarded the

train to London, where he grew

up and launched his career with

Leyton Orient.

That followed a quick turn-around

to conclude his signing from Burton

ahead of the Friday deadline to

feature at The Valley.

And first impressions were certainly

positive – from all sides.

“Everything happened so quickly

but the manager and the boys

welcomed me - and the fans as

well,” Adeboyejo said.

“To see that many fans away at

Charlton at 12.30 on a Saturday

was incredible. The welcome there

was amazing and to get the win

there as well was an even bigger

bonus.

“There’s nothing that beats a

winning feeling and going on that

journey back smiling.”

Adeboyejo certainly has a smile to

light up a room and, like Okocha

before him, has all the attributes

to become a big favourite as he

relishes the prospect of a first

appearance at the Unibol and the

hunt for a first Wanderers’ goal.

“It would have been nice to

have scored last week, but that’s

coming. There’s real quality

everywhere in the team,” he

added.

“It’s amazing for me to know that

I’ve just got to get myself in good

areas and good positions and

those sorts of opportunities will

come.

“It was good to see the boys up

and close and to start training with

them this week.

“It takes a bit of time to build

relationships but the welcome from

everyone has been amazing, so I

don’t think it will take too long to

get going.

“And if the away support is like that,

then what’s it going to be like at

home?”

Perhaps he should give Jay Jay

a ring.

Wanderers continued their hot-streak with another

impressive victory on the road at Charlton Athletic in

front of the Sky Sports cameras.

Aaron Morley’s 4th-minute free-kick gave the Whites

the perfect start. His effort from 30 yards out found the

net via the inside of the post, leaving Ashley Maynard-

Brewer with no chance.

Ian Evatt’s men dominated the first half but led by

just a single goal at the break, and Charlton found an

equaliser less than a minute into the second half – Albie

Morgan’s shot from the edge of the box beating James

Trafford.

The three points were to ultimately head back to the

North West and following an error from Ryan Inniss, Kyle

Dempsey headed a loose ball across the box to Dion

Charles who fired the ball into an empty net, and it was

a goal that would prove decisive.

SLEEPOUT AT THE UNIVERSITY

OF BOLTON STADIUM!

Bolton Wanderers in the

Community, in partnership

with Bolton Wanderers

Football Club and Urban

Outreach, are hosting the

first ever BWFC Sleepout

event at the University of

Bolton Stadium this March.

The event will aim to raise

funds to support both the

club’s official charity and Urban

Outreach as they work to support

some of the most vulnerable

people living in Bolton.

Open to those aged 18 and over,

the event will take place pitchside

on Friday 10th March and will offer

business leaders, BWFC fans and

the local community the unique

opportunity to spend the night

sleeping under the stars at the

home of the Wanderers.

Money raised from the BWFC

Sleepout will be split between

the club’s official charity, Bolton

Wanderers in the Community and

Urban Outreach.

Bolton Wanderers in the

Community deliver projects and

initiatives to support children,

families and older adults who

may be experiencing hardship

and multiple disadvantages,

exacerbated by the current

economic climate.

Urban Outreach deliver services

to move homeless people and

those who are difficult to house

into suitable and sustainable

accommodation – so no one has

to resort to living on the streets of

Bolton at any time.

Speaking on the event Phil Mason,

CEO of Bolton Wanderers in the

Community said: “We are hoping

that this event will help to raise

awareness of homelessness in

Bolton and to support the vital work

that is undertaken in this area.

“I will be taking part in the Sleepout

myself and will be joined by the

CEO of the club, Neil Hart, who is

also making the commitment to join

in this great event.

“I would encourage the local

businesses, business leaders

and BWFC supporters to join me

in spending a night out under

the stars at the University

of Bolton Stadium for this

fantastic cause”.

Dave Bagley MBE, CEO of

Urban Outreach added “Our

ability as a town to be the

hands and hearts that hold

the hurting is unprecedented

and once again it’s our

great privilege to be in

partnership with the heart of the

Borough – Bolton Wanderers in the

Community and Bolton Wanderers

Football Club.

“Only together can we own the

aspiration that no one should be

without a home, and we remain

committed to seeing a dream

fulfilled that no one sleeps rough in

our great town of Bolton.

“I will be there and hope to

drag a few good friends to raise

money and awareness to ‘comfort

the disturbed and disturb the

comfortable’.”

The BWFC Sleepout is an overnight

event that will take place on Friday

10th March from 8pm – 8am.

Registration for the event is free

and fundraisers are asked to raise

a minimum of £200.

This event is open to those aged

18+ and the closing date to sign up

is Friday 24th February.

EQUIPPING CHARITIES IN THE TOWN

Here at Bolton Wanderers

we have just launched a new

programme that will help 50

Bolton-based charities develop

their digital skills.

The Bolton Digital Skills

programme is aimed to provide

learning and guidance to Boltonbased

charities around how to

effectively utilise social media to

raise awareness of their work.

Via a scoping and mentoring

exercise carried out by Bolton

CVS, a lack of skills, confidence

and resources in how to use digital

tools was identified as a leading

area of concern for many of the

1,672 organisations operating in

the town.

From this research, a partnership

was formed between the

club, Bolton Wanderers in the

Community, Bolton CVS and

Lightful - experts in the field of

training non-profits with digital skills

– and the technology company

that will lead the programme.

The Bolton Digital Skills

programme will enable charities

to access the support needed to

transform their approach to digital.

With an increased awareness

of their work, the hope is that

fundraising levels will be raised

across the board for the charities

taking part.

Our own Sharon Brittan, Chairman

of Bolton Wanderers has been at

the forefront of this development.

Sharon said, “There are so many

incredible and inspirational

charities operating in Bolton and,

as a club, we are passionate to

support their vital work where we

can.

“We are confident that through this

innovative new programme, the

organisations involved will gain

the tools needed to effectively

promote their work online, raise

more funds and, in turn, be able to

positively impact the lives of even

more people in our community.“

Vinay Nair, CEO and Co-Founder of

Lightful said: “So many charities in

Bolton do vital work - yet they often

struggle to convey this effectively

online. Lightful has worked with

thousands of charities across the

UK and around the world, helping

them to create a digital strategy,

improve their storytelling and raise

awareness and funds for their

work.

“We are thrilled to be part of this

partnership with Bolton Wanderers

in the Community and Bolton CVS

and we are excited to support

these brilliant charities to make the

most of the power of digital and

deliver even more impact in their

communities.”

The Bolton Digital Skills

programme will culminate in Bolton

Wanderers’ Unity Festival in the

spring, during which charities will

have the chance to showcase their

work at the club and celebrate

their roles in making Bolton a

better place to live.

Sanctioned and funded by Bolton

Wanderers’ board of directors,

the hope is the programme will

act as a blueprint for future,

similar initiatives, assisting more

organisations to grow their

supporter base and deliver positive

impact across communities.

My thanks go to all who have

helped launch this programme to

make a real and lasting difference

to so many charities that support

vital work and needs in Bolton.

Enjoy the Game,

MEMORABLE MATCHES

SEASON 2022/23 MARKS THE 25TH

ANNIVERSARY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF

BOLTON STADIUM.

Sunday 12th December 2010

Bolton Wanderers 2

Blackburn Rovers 1

Barclays FA Premer League.

A late winner secured the points

for ten man Wanderers as an

unwanted jinx came to an end.

Not since 1998 had three Premier

League points been secured

against Blackburn on home soil

and it was all the sweeter with

former manager Sam Allardyce in

the opposition dug-out.

After a scoreless first half Mark

Davies, who had picked up a

yellow card for a lunging tackle on

Martin Olsson, received a second

yellow for a challenge on Phil

Jones after 55 minutes. Rather

than shut up shop the Wanderers

went on the offensive and went

ahead ten minutes later.

THROUGHOUT THE SEASON CLUB

HISTORIAN SIMON MARLAND WILL LOOK

BACK AT SOME MEMORABLE GAMES.

Substitute, Fabrice Muamba,

received the ball at the far post,

strode past Gael Givet’s challenge

and squeezed his shot inside

the post. Despite the numerical

disadvantage Bolton looked likely

to increase their lead until three

minutes from time when on loan

Manchester United striker Mame

Diouf struck Rovers equaliser.

Threre was no time for deflation.

Sam Rickets played a long ball up

the middle, Kevin Davies chested

down into Stuart Holden’s path

and the American midfielder rifled

his volley past Paul Robinson

for a winning goal that lifted the

Wanderers into sixth place in the

Premier League.

Team: Jaaskelainen, Ricketts,

Cahill, Knight, Robinson, Lee,

(Muamba), M. Davies, Holden,

Petrov, (Taylor), Elmander, K.

Davies. Subs not used: Bogdan,

Steinsson, Klasnic, Rodrigo, Blake.

Sunday 6th May 2012

Bolton Wanderers 2

West Bromwich Albion 2

Barclays FA Premier League.

The Wanderers were well on their

way to securing Premier League

safety after going into a two goal

lead against West Brom.

In the 24th minute Mark Davies

was bundled over in the penalty

box and Martin Petrov stepped up

to convert the penalty. (Pictured).

Things got even better after 75

minutes when Petrov’s cut back

from the left was turned into his

30 | The Wanderer 01204 328 888

own net by Albion full back Billy

Jones. Nearest relegation rivals

QPR were drawing at home to

Stoke leaving Bolton outside the

bottom three.

Things started to get nervy when

Chris Brunt pulled one back for

Albion and, when news came

through that QPR had taken the

lead, the Wanderers moved from

coasting to desperate defending.

In the 90th minute the Wanderers

surrendered possession for

the umpteenth time and James

Morrison came up with Albion’s

equaliser.

The following weekend, as the

football world was enjoying the

Aguero moment at Manchester

City, the Wanderers fell through

the relegation trap door with a

2-2 draw at Stoke City as events

contrived to deny them the three

points that would have ensured

safety.

Team: Bogdan, Boyata, Ream,

Wheater,(Knight), Ricketts, Eagles,

Reo-Coker, M. Davies, Petrov, (Lee),

K. Davies, Ngog, (Klasnic). Subs

not used: Jaaskelainen, Alonso,

Miyaichi, Vela.

Attendance: 25,662

Friday August 10th 2012

Bolton Wanderers 2

Barcelona B 2

Pre-Season Friendly

Bolton headed into the following

weeks season Championship

opener at Burnley on the back

of an impressive performance

against Barcelona B.

After the Wanderers had struck the

woodwork twice in the first half,

all four goals in the game were

scored in the space of 18 second

half minutes as Bolton twice came

behind to earn a draw. Cristian

Lobato broke the deadlock with

a crisp left foot strike ten minutes

after the interval and Bolton

equalised when Martin Petrov’s

cross was turned into his own goal

by Sergi Gomez.

Barca ‘keeper Oier Olazabal made

a sprawling save to deny Benik

Afobe his fourth goal in as many

days and instead it was full back

Ivan Balliu who nudged the visitors

ahead by converting from a tight

angle in the 67th minute.

After a period of Bolton pressure,

in which Olazabal thwarted both

Petrov and Matt Mills, Marvin

Sordell found space in the six yard

box to plant a free header into the

net to bring Bolton back level for a

second time.

Team: Bogdan, Mears, (Riley), Mills,

Eagles, (Lee), Andrews, (Pratley),

Petrov, (Wylde), Knight, (Ream),

K. Davies, (Afobe), M. Davies,

(Vela), Ricketts, (Alonso), Sordell,

(O’Halloran). Subs not used:

Lonergan, Lynch.

ABOUT THE TRUST

JOIN THE TRUST

NEWS FROM THE

BWFCST

After the close of what we hope

will turn out to be another a

positive January transfer window,

Thursday evening saw this year’s

trust AGM take place in the

Platinum Suite.

Our chair, Terence Rigby, updated

members on trust activities during

the last 12 months, the most

important one being the renewal

of the Asset of Community Value

ACV) listing of the stadium. On

behalf of BWFC supporters

worldwide, the trust would again

like to place on record their

appreciation of the encouragement

received from Football Ventures

and Neil Hart during the ACV

renewal process.

Terence then went on to highlight

several other areas where club

and trust collaboration has had

positive results, including season

ticket pricing, ‘23/’24 kit fans vote,

primary schools family season

ticket offer and, of course, the

introduction of the Fanzone.

Add in the ongoing positive

LET’S DO THIS TOGETHER!

developments being put in place

through the Disabled Supporters

Working Group and things are

looking good off the field.

The willingness of Ian and Neil to

engage with the trust members

present during their Q&A with

Jacko merely emphasises the

status of the relationship between

the club and the trust. Indeed, on

behalf of the club, Neil encouraged

fans who aren’t already trust

members to take advantage of

the trust offer of a half-price first

year membership. This discount

will hopefully attract new members

and strengthen the relationship

between club and supporters. This

can only help the project underway

to stabilise our club and ensure

a sustainable future - something

that seemed such a very remote

situation in August 2019!

During the AGM a motion was

debated that called for the trust

to do more to engage with both a

younger and wider group of fans.

This is something that both the

club and the trust want to happen.

To this end, we ask those of any

age, gender or ethnicity and who

have questions about how to

become more involved with the

operation of the trust to please

get in touch with us on enquiries@

bwfcst.co.uk .

Annual trust elections will take

place in March/April and if anyone

feels like they can contribute

to the operation of the trust,

there has never been a better

time to become a member and

join the journey! If you are not

already a member, you can join

by visiting www.bwfcst.co.uk or

by using the QR code on this

page. If you are not already a trust

member, you can now join at the

reduced subscription of £5 for your

first year’s annual membership.

This special offer has been agreed

during dialogue between trust and

club and is more evidence of the

positive relationship that exists.

Let’s do this together!!

MY FIRST EVER SEASON TICKET I LOVE BOLTON WANDERERS ALFIE RUSHTON

GOLDEN GOAL PROVES A GREAT SUCCESS.

With a winner nearly every

match our newest fundraiser has

proved to be a great success

with our fans this season.

1801 tickets are produced for

every game, 1800 tickets are

printed with three separate times

on (minutes and seconds) and

then we have 1 ticket with 00

mins and 00 secs which is the

ticket to have if there is a draw.

This proved to be a lucky ticket

over the festive season with two

of our home games ending in a

draw. These were the games V

Derby County on the 27th and

the game V Plymouth Argyle on

the 7th January 2023 and here is

one of the 00 – 00 winners Paul

Clements.

Paul, a season ticket holder,

bought his ticket from our seller

Sam in the North West stand,

then came into the shop after

the game to claim his cash and

went home happy.

Our most recent winner was

Richard Singleton of Southport

who was thrilled to match his

Golden Goal ticket to Dion

Charles goal time of 5 minutes

and 8 seconds!

Season ticket holder since the

90’s, Richard bought his ticket

from our seller Jason who is

based at the Club Shop.

He will be using some of

his winnings to frame a shirt

he managed to get Bolton

Wanderers Legend Stelios to sign

so it can take pride of place on

his wall.

Thanks to everyone who helps

us raise funds for the BWDA by

buying Golden Goal on a match

day and we hope a few more of

you will be winners before the

season is over!

Back on sale today throughout

the Lower concourse, Fanzone,

Hotel, outside the Club shop and

throughout the hospitality areas,

priced at just £1 could you be

going home with £500?

Don’t forget the fundraiser are

CASH ONLY. Thanks!

‘LOVE FOOTBALL. PROTECT THE GAME’

A message about anti-social and criminal behaviour

To mark the new season, we want to

make you aware of new measures

being taken across all of football

to ensure everyone can have a safe

and enjoyable experience. We are

supporting strong action from the

FA, Premier League and EFL to tackle

anti-social and criminal behaviours

that put all of us at risk.

This reflects the seriousness of

the risks to fans and staff – pyros

can burn at 2000 degrees Celsius

and cause lifechanging injuries,

while entering the pitch endangers

players, managers and match

officials.

We know those who commit these

illegal acts do not represent the

majority of supporters.
