Case study
KNOW-HOW TO CLEAN SALTGREEN RESIDENTIAL
CARE HOME FASTER AND MORE EFFECTIVELY
Saltgreen Residential Care Home in the Scottish
Borders invited the Robert Scott clean team to
carry out a review of its current floorcare system
to reduce water consumption, chemical use and
increase productivity. This led to implementing a new
microfibre cleaning system designed to save time,
money and improve staff morale.
Saltgreen used a traditional system of mops and buckets, J Cloths and
a lot of chemical cleaning agents, before switching over to the Rokleen
microfibre system, a trolley-based cleaning system designed to reduce
cross contamination and maximise cleaning standards without having
to close down for cleaning.
“I have seen a 25% reduction in staff time
spent doing the same tasks with microfibre,
compared to using the old system.”
This is where the benefits of microfibre mopping and cloths really
come into their own - to not only clean a wide range of surfaces and
floors, but also to help companies adhere to environmental concerns
as they clean surfaces without the use of chemicals and excessive
amounts of water.
Microfibre can also be washed and re-used many times over, and are
often lighter and faster to use than traditional mops. Proven to remove
over 99.9% of dirt and bacteria, it also removes dust completely
without leaving cleaning films behind and ensuring surfaces stay
cleaner longer. And finally, with care home cleaning in mind, microfibre
reduces the need for noisy machinery such as vacuums and polishers.
Susan Chisholm, manager at Saltgreen Residential Care Home,
comments: “Due to infection control policy a clean mop and fresh
water had to be used in every room to avoid cross-contamination. Our
water consumption increased to 300,000 litres per year; utility and
chemical costs increased.
“I have seen a 25% reduction in staff time spent doing the same tasks
with microfibre, compared to using the old system. This improved
staff morale, productivity, the home is visibly cleaner, and we are using
fewer chemicals.
“Infection Control Audits are having better outcomes with most areas’
results sitting at medium to high. Significantly, during a winter period
where we are at high risk of infection outbreaks, we have had none.”

Cleano Window Cleaning Range
The Cleano is an innovative telescopic tool, which has been
designed to enable easier, faster and safer cleaning of larger and
hard to reach window and flat surfaces. It comes in a range of
sizes up to 6m to reach even the highest levels, without the need
for buckets and ladders, and uses microfibre cleaning pads to
give hygienically clean, smear-free results without the need for
chemicals.
It has a built-in hand operated pump system which is completely
mechanical, no need for batteries. This delivers a fine mist directly
onto the cleaning surface, and the removable microfibre pad
efficiently attracts and holds dirt particles for a fast, thorough
clean.

The Hurricane fogger is ideal for commercial use and high touch
points, and features a 3.8 litre impact resistant tank and powerful
motor.
It also benefits from three precision nozzles for greater output
capacity allowing for the covering of droplets up to 4.5 metres
away.
The compact yet powerful ultra-low volume fogger is ideal for
constant commercial use, while being equally suited to an office or
domestic environment. The large 5-litre tank and powerful 1400w
230v electric motor allow the covering of larger areas with ease.

An economical handheld and battery-powered mist sprayer,
which is designed for sanitising small to medium areas. With a 4l
capacity the sprayer projects a fine mist of droplets up to 50µm in
size and 2m in distance at a rate of around 145ml per minute.
