FOREWORD CHAIRMAN OF WERVINGSDAGEN
The sky is the limit!
FOREWORD RECTOR MAGNIFICUS
So keep on climbing
If you are near the end of your studies,
the next big phase in your life is about to
start. Finishing your education marks the
start of your professional career. Finding
the right company or organization to work
for is a crucial step in realizing your career
aspirations. The Interviewing Days are here to
help you make that connection.
The Interviewing Days is a unique opportunity for you to meet with various companies and learn
more about the career paths available to you as future engineers. During these days, you will have
the chance to speak with company representatives to learn about what the company does, its
corporate cultures, job opportunities and more. The Interviewing Days are a fantastic chance for
you to network and gain a deeper understanding of the industries and companies that interest you.
Whether you are looking for your first job after graduation or simply exploring your options, you are
sure to find something of value here.
If you are interested in a particular company, we encourage you to review their profile in this guide
and make an effort to attend their interview or even their company cases, lunches or dinners if they
are offering one.
The company cases are an exciting opportunity for you to learn more about a company in an
interactive setting. During these cases, company representatives present a real-life
challenge or problem for you to solve, giving you a glimpse into what it would be like to work
for that company. Each case is done together with a small group of other students. The company
lunches and dinners provide a relaxed setting to get to know the company.
The Interviewing Days are a unique opportunity
to combine the skills you learned during the
Skill Sessions with the contacts you made
during the Career Expo.
You will probably have interviews with various leading national
and international companies. During one of the previous events,
you must have noticed that these companies would like to know
everything about you. Rightly so! Your skills and qualities are in
high demand.
At the same time the interviews are also an opportunity to learn more about the companies. After all,
you must make a well-founded choice. Be critical during the conversations you will have, ask questions
about matters that are important to you.
Maybe about the challenges you will find in the work itself, or about the company culture. But you can
also think broader. Perhaps you would like to know more about the direction of the company when it
comes to, for example, climate measures or more about their inclusion and diversity policy? Or you
think it’s important to have a few weeks off to travel the world? Be clear about what you want and
expect from your future employer. I am sure that there is a great match for every TU/e student!
I would like to express my gratitude to the organizing Committee of de Wervingsdagen. You did a
great job! Each year thousands of students from Eindhoven and the rest of the Netherlands visit one
or more events. To organize the biggest technical career event in The Netherlands, takes a lot of guts.
Thank you for your time, energy, sweat and tears.
I wish you all a successful career!
Unwind and have some fun while still making valuable connections with potential employers. Our
new informal activity allows you to play a game of pool with recruiters while having a relaxed
conversation about their company. Don’t miss this chance to showcase your skills and personality
and make lasting impressions with recruiters in a less formal setting. So grab your cue, rack up the
balls, and aim for the pocket - the sky really is the limit!
Prof. dr. ir. Frank Baaijens
Rector Magnificus Eindhoven University of Technology
We wish you the best of luck as you participate in the Interviewing Days, and we hope that you
will find this guide valuable as you navigate this exciting opportunity. Whatever your goal is for the
Interviewing Days, we are confident that you will find what you are looking for here!

ACTIVITIES
Interviewing Days
DESCRIPTION OF STUDIES
Powered by
The Interviewing Days are the perfect opportunity to meet
potential employees, discuss your career opportunities, and learn
more about companies interested in you. From May 8th until May
11th, you will have the chance to personally get in touch with
one or more companies of your choice. The topic of discussion is
entirely up to you, as long as it is career related.
To create a suitable atmosphere,
Wervingsdagen will host the event at the Pullman hotel in Eindhoven.
Interviews
An Interview is a personal conversation between you and one or two company
recruiters. An interview will take around 45 minutes, as chosen by the company. The
Interview could serve as a way to get to know the company, but it can also be an
application as part of a selection procedure. It is up to you and the company to decide
what kind of Interview you want.
Pooling Interview
Next to the regular Interview, we also offer you an interview combined with an activity:
pooling! Together with a company you will go to an external pooling location and
together you can decide how you want to divide the 45 minutes.
Company Cases
The Company Cases are a way of getting to know the company by actually solving
a problem the company presents to you! You will work in small groups of students and
work together to find an optimal solution to the problem. Each case will take 3 hours and
will take place only once. By participating in a Case, you will get a very hands-on look
into what working at the company is like and what knowledge from your studies you can
apply. You can find all available Cases in a later section of this guide.
Lunch or Dinner
Subscribing for a Lunch or Dinner will get you the opportunity to get to know a company
and its culture in a more informal way. Together with 5-7 other students, you will have
lunch or dinner with two recruiters of the company of your choice. During these sessions,
you can discuss any topic with the company recruiters.
Applied Mathematics
AM
Mathematics is all about learning to see things in an analytical way, to think
critically and to solve problems by being solution-oriented. Any problem can
be made abstract, which makes nearly all challenges in real life solvable
in the abstract world of mathematics. Applied Mathematics is made up of
three main fields of study: first analytical mathematics provides the basics
into the mathematical structures of functions and spaces and why they apply.
Giving every student a reasonable understanding of why we can simply
add and subtract numbers and how to create new theorems from there. The
second field is stochastics, where probability and stochastics will be learned
and applied while analyzing big data. The third main field focuses on
security and optimization, such as cryptography applications and company
process optimization. During the study, students are trained to work together
and think creatively in numerous modelling projects in all fields. That is
why mathematicians can think analytically and `outside the box’. By doing
so, mathematicians can come to the optimal solution to a wide variety of
problems, and can be all-round employable for many companies.
Applied Physics
AP
Applied Physicists learn to see the world around us in a very analytical
manner. By thoroughly analyzing problems and thinking critically, suitable
solutions are found to many problems. As an Applied Physicist, physical
phenomena turn into fascinating questions and topics of discussion. Applied
Physicists go one step further than just asking questions, by namely applying
the obtained skills on physical phenomena for the sake of technological
developments. In a lot of cases, this gives rise to ambitious projects. During
projects some assumptions may need to be made, which are learned to
recognize and validate. The master’s program in Applied Physics allows
the student to get involved in physical phenomena, new technologies and
measurement methods. Which are all based on the technical application
of physical principles in varying disciplines. Applied physicists use their
practical experience, problem-solving and analysis skills to solve complex
problems and can make an argument why that particular solution is the most
suitable one to the problem.

Automotive Technology
AU
The program Automotive Technology is a unique study of automotive
engineering on a university level. During this study students get to face
the technological challenges in a societal perspective. Modern cars are
intelligent systems which require a lot of knowledge of various disciplines.
These disciplines (Electrical Engineering, software engineering and
mechanical engineering) will be learned by a student of Automotive
Technology. The student uses this knowledge in projects like smart mobility
and clean vehicles.
Biomedical Engineering & Medical Sciences
and Technology
Biomedical Engineering focuses on problems in modern healthcare. It
originates from a study track of mechanical engineering, which focused on
the human body. It has developed into a broad field of study, combining
engineering and knowledge of the human body to seek for innovative
solutions in healthcare. Diagnostics, disease treatment and prevention ask
for a constant renewal of technology in healthcare. Biomedical Engineering
is the answer to this, because students are educated to use interdisciplinary
knowledge applied to human healthcare problems. Biomedical problems
are often complicated and require knowledge of fields like mechanical
engineering, chemical engineering, applied physics, mathematics, computer
science and electrical engineering. All these fields come into play in the
three research groups; Biomechanics & Tissue Engineering, Molecular
Bioengineering & Molecular Imaging and Biomedical Imaging & Modelling.
The Biomedical engineer uses available data from all different sources and
translates it into solutions which can be used by a doctor. The broad field
of knowledge of a biomedical engineer makes him useful both in and out
of the medical world, where he can function as a bridge between different
disciplines or as a specialist in his field.
Chemical Engineering and Chemistry
As a Chemical Engineer, you are able to provide technical solutions to
problems and issues related to the process and product technology. In
addition, the great analytical skills provide career opportunities within a
wide range of sectors such as consultancy. Within the Chemical Engineering
department, different divisions can be distinguished. Some students work on
the design, maintenance, improving and troubleshooting of large industrial
processes. Other students work on the innovation in the field of materials
science, polymers in order to design smart materials. Finally, there is a
group of students working on synthesis and design of new compounds,
such as catalysts and organic solar cells. The Chemical Engineering study
provides specialists with a broad base, which can be used in a variety of
industries.
CE
BE
Computer Science
CS
The study of Computer Science & Engineering provides all principles and
methods to develop software systems and web services. It uses a discrete,
logical form of mathematics seen in all kinds of areas within Computer
Science. Because of this strong mathematical base, any Computer Science
student has a very broad curriculum, which is applied in the following fields
within the study:
• Theory and algorithmics, where students learn how to solve different
mathematical problems the best way possible.
• Software development, where students learn to create and document
software programs from scratch.
• System architecture, networks and information systems, where
students look at the safety of networks and the optimization of
systems and processes, as well as the saving of data.
• Web technology, where the psychological side of technology is
viewed, such as the attractiveness and the user friendliness of products.
• Data science, in which different techniques are used in the field of
data analysis, data mining and machine learning.
Besides that, students learn professional skills and how to work in a team.
These things are learned/practiced during the many design-based group
projects in the study. All of this enables a student to bridge the gap between
the user and the endless number of applications of a computer. The
critical way of thinking bridges this gap, specialized in the form of logical
reasoning, and the structured approach to the most complex of problems.
Data Science
DS
Data Science is a new engineering discipline and the main innovation
driver in the years to come, much like Computer Science, which emerged
as a new field of research when computers became widely available.
Data Science has emerged in answer to the vast volume of complex and
unstructured data that has become available. Modern technology enables
data collection any place, any time, about anything. The goal of Data
Science is not to collect more data, but to derive actionable insights from
large amounts of data, by using state of the art techniques from research
in the fields of data cleaning, process mining, business analytics, data
mining and machine learning. As Data Science is multidisciplinary and has
great societal impact, a good Data Scientist needs to be aware of relevant
societal issues, such as legal, social, ethical, business, and entrepreneurial
problems. The Joint Bachelor Data Science and the Joint Master Data
Science and Entrepreneurship are programmes offered by Tilburg University
and Eindhoven University of Technology with their joint collaboration in the
Jheronimus Academy of Data Science (JADS).

Electrical Engineering
EE
An Electrical Engineer from the TU/e has enjoyed wide bachelor ranging
from electromechanics and -magnetics to signal processing, integrated
circuits and programming courses. This gives an Electrical Engineer the
knowledge about mathematics, physics and computer systems needed
to solve complicated problems. Electrical Engineering focuses on three
societal themes: ‘The Connected World’, ‘Care and Cure’ and ‘Smart
and Sustainable Society’. Every Master program of Electrical Engineering
connects to one of these three themes, which means that a graduate student
possesses a lot of knowledge of at least one of these societal themes.
Industrial Design
ID
The goal of the study Industrial Design is to create interactive products,
systems and services in a societal context. The study is an umbrella for
different disciplines, which means the students have a coherent overview of
different areas of expertise. These areas include: programming, electronics,
user interaction, materiality, branding, business strategies and scientific
research. This overview makes it easy for an Industrial Design student to
link the disciplines within a design process. A designer constantly has to
adapt to changes in technology and society. At the faculty of Industrial
Design, students learn to take control over their own knowledge, skills and
development. When the students run into something unfamiliar to them or
something they have never done before, they can adapt their education
and teach themselves new skills. Additionally, the students from our faculty
are very open-minded and creative and always up for something different
or new. Industrial Design students are translators; they translate problems
into solutions and wishes into product specifications. In this way, Industrial
Design students form a bridge between technology and people. They
reason from users to make technology intuitive for them. Industrial Design
students have knowledge of many different disciplines and therefore are
very versatile in their work. Every student has his own unique expertise, but
also has knowledge of the other competences.
Industrial Engineering
IE
At the major Industrial Engineering, the students get subjects on the field
of Mathematics, Engineering and Integration (a combination of technical
and business subjects). The master’s degree programs of Industrial
Engineering are Operations Management and Logistics (OML) and
Innovation Management (IM). Operations Management and Logistics is
a multidisciplinary field that addresses the efficiency and effectiveness
of the operations of an organization. OML comprises disciplines such
as product development, quality management, (supply chain) logistics,
information systems, and human resource management. Operations extend
from the performance management of a group of design engineers to the
precise prediction of production and delivery performance. The Innovation
Management discipline studies the management of innovation processes. It
contains quantitative and qualitative theories, tools and techniques to make
businesses and entrepreneurs more innovative, as well as more successful
in their innovation activities. Key aspects of the Innovation Management
discipline are new product development, strategic marketing, sales and
after-sales service management, business intelligence, open innovation, and
entrepreneurship.
Psychology and Technology
HTI (PT)
Students in the bachelor Psychology & Technology learn how technology
influences people and how to use their knowledge of psychology to make
technology function optimally for its users. Graduates know how people
think, act, feel, observe and take decisions, and have the knowledge to
understand how technologies work. The students try to adapt the technology
to the individual with the aim of getting the best user experience and
societal value out of a technology. Examples are smart interfaces, social
robots, persuasive technologies, ambient intelligence, brain-computer
interfaces, or big data.
Sustainable Innovation
SI
Students in the Sustainable Innovation major have the ambition to create
a more sustainable future. They have in-depth knowledge of sustainable
technologies but also study the economic and societal factors that are
crucial to make these innovations a success. They are able to analyze what
is needed for consumers and firms to adopt these technologies and how
policymakers can speed up the transition to a sustainable society. Examples
of relevant subjects for the major Sustainable Innovation are the energy
transition, blockchain, smart grids, circularity, smart mobility and sustainable
food production.
Mechanical Engineering
ME
Mechanical engineering combines subjects from mathematics, physics
and chemistry. Aspects taught during the program include heat and flow,
mechanics and dynamics, the control of machines and systems, and
properties of materials. But as an aspiring mechanical engineer, you
need to have more than technical knowledge alone. Later a mechanical
engineer will often be at the center of a project team of specialists from
different disciplines. That’s why a lot of attention is given to the social and
communication aspects of the students’ development. As well as creativity
and innovative abilities, mechanical engineers are also expected to be able
to work well in teams.

Boer & Croon
Management
Solutions B.V.
Company Case
Boer & Croon provides solutions for management
issues with people who get the job done. There are
plenty of people who see that things can be done
differently or better. People who see and do it are
scarce.
The mission is clear: Boer & Croon delivers results, one way or another
and preferably faster than expected. A solution on paper is never enough,
the challenge only comes after the analysis. That is why Boer & Croon
selects the best people with the ability to realize. Smart doers with an eye
for their environment. Do whatever it takes. Through executing close to the
people and by going for it together.
As a Young Executive Operations you are responsible for the successful
implementation of various projects in production and logistics
environments. The focus here is on the one hand on the process side,
to devise and implement efficiency measures, and on the other hand
on the people side to realize a continuous improvement culture by
paying real attention to people (i.e. empathizing with the other, showing
understanding, listening and leading by example at individual, team and
management level). In this role you carry out assignments in teams or
independently at our clients (e.g. manufacturing, food, transport, retail,
construction and maritime). Each assignment is tailor-made, but we have
defined four work areas: project management, process management,
interim management and advice.
Your development is key at Boer & Croon and that is why we offer
an extensive 3-year management development program with Lean Six
Sigma Black Belt training and modules that ensure that you receive what
you need to develop yourself and perform at the customer. In addition,
you will be supported by a coach and by the management of Young
Executive Management. You can also fall back on knowledge and skills
elsewhere within the organization, and you are part of the Operations
Solution with experienced (Senior) Managers, Directors and seasoned
CEOs and COOs.

Belgium, bol.com is their go-to online shop. On our
platform, they can find over 34 million products. These
items are not just offered by bol.com but primarily
by our 47,000 partners: entrepreneurs who work
together with bol.com to reach their customers.
Together we aim to create the best online retail tech platform for our
customers and partners, giving them a personal and inspiring experience.
To achieve that goal we research, innovate, experiment and build. Every
day.
Bol.com, truly is the store of us all. A place where you can be 100%
yourself. That is our ambition. You can only be yourself if we create a
place where every bol.com’er feels safe and at home. What binds us
together every day is our culture and the way we work. It’s what makes
bol.com, bol.com. A unique feeling that is almost impossible to explain
and that you are best advised to come and experience for yourself. It is a
mix of elements that we have tried to capture in our five values: inspired,
together, trust, sincere and down-to-earth. A magic potion that makes us
do things a little bit better every day.
Here at bol.com we are all about learning. In order to set the standard,
you dare to dream, dare to discover and keep experimenting and
developing. But you must also dare to fail and understand that failure
is actually learning. Because if you know what doesn’t work, you are
one step closer to what will be successful. In this process, colleagues
and teams work very autonomously. That means a lot of freedom, within
which you get responsibility and take initiative. In this way, you and your
colleagues are responsible for the next success of bol.com, your team and
your career.

A doctor who monitors a patient with COVID-19 at the ICU? He uses
HiX. A nurse who consults patient data and logs measured values? She
uses HiX as well. A capacity manager who wants to reduce the nurses?
workload? Also HiX. Patients who want to access their results? HiX. And
so on and so forth. HiX is an electronic health record (EHR) that supports
healthcare professionals and patients, and at the same time guarantees
a seamless financial processing of all patient treatments. In addition,
HiX provides managers and directors with a crystal-clear performance
overview.
With Zorgplatform we offer a service that enables doctors to check
whether other healthcare organisations possess data about their patients.
With the patient’s permission, the doctor can import these data into his
own EHR. Zorgplatform also ensures optimal communication between
patient health apps, personal health environments (PHE) and the EHR.
HiX and Zorgplatform support today’s healthcare and that of tomorrow.
This includes patient empowerment, cooperation between all types of
healthcare institutions and patients, and the increasing importance of
topics such as data analysis and Artificial Intelligence. And you can
contribute to that!
All our vehicles are built to meet the individual specifications and
requirements of our clients. We develop state of the art technologies,
implement them in all of our trucks and offer a wide range of services.
Further, we also produce components for third parties, ranging from
axle assemblies to complete engines for buses and coaches and special
vehicles.

At Itility, we are digital engineers, working for large
enterprise customers in high-tech and manufacturing
- such as ASML, NXP, Vanderlande and Schunk. But
also, for smaller companies in agriculture - such as
Van Gog Kwekerijen and Incotech. Next to that we
are more and more focusing on the energy industry,
with customers like Eneco and Vattenfall.
We love to twin up with our customers. Shape digital solutions together
to bring innovation. Then, we deliver. We make sure those solutions get
implemented in projects - flawlessly and as promised. And we engineer
the solutions to be production-ready, so our DevOps teams can then run
them on a daily basis.
Passion is part of our core value DNA, which spells “PILSI” (in Dutch:
Passie, Inhoud, Leveren, Samen, Innovatie). Everything starts with passion
(passie) for what you do. Driven by the hunger for knowledge and content
(inhoud). Content is trained on the job and in our Itility Academy and
Season Schools, and is explored in our R&D deep-dives. All with the goal
to deliver (leveren) to the customer, beyond expectations. Always together
(samen), always as a team. At work, but also outside working hours,
whether during a night out, at a LAN party, or a hackathon. And always
innovating, becoming better every day, always going one step beyond
(innovatie).
Young Professional Program
We offer an exclusive program for starters, the Young Professional
Program, specifically developed to boost your career and help you
become an IT professional or a professional in cloud, data science,
software, or consultancy. The YPP is a tailor-made 4-month bootcamp, in
which we train, coach, and develop our starters. During this time, starters
come into contact with various tools, such as Python and Databricks, and
by completing on-the-job assignments they learn the necessary skills to
start working for the customer at the end of the process.
Iv-Groep is a globally operating multidisciplinary
engineering company. Since 1949, Iv has been
devising technical solutions for projects of any size
and complexity within the following sectors: Industry,
Infrastructure & Traffic, Buildings & Installations,
Handling, Maritime, Offshore & Energy and Water.
Our employees are technicians of the highest level who with great
pleasure, puzzle their way through almost impossible challenges. They
are deeply involved in the (social) issues presented by our clients and
work with great passion to achieve innovative solutions for them. In eleven
offices worldwide and with more than 700 employees and nine divisions
whereby each is a specialist in their own specific sector, Iv is now one of
the top 10 Dutch engineering companies.
Every day a new #challenge
If we are talking about the DNA of Iv, then technology is by far the core
element. This is what we really have a passion for and in which we
are constantly at the forefront. We have unique and multidisciplinary
knowledge of the sectors in which we operate and it’s this knowledge that
makes Iv a much sought-after partner for special and complex projects.
We love nothing more than a technical challenge. Impossible missions
are non-existent. Working at Iv means working in an organization where
every day is different. With specialists sharing the same passion for
technology, you can devise solutions for the greatest technical challenges
and most diverse projects.
At the office or on location. What makes working at Iv so nice? Plenty of
room for entrepreneurship and personal development. This helps you to

SOLVE THE PROBLEM
Company Cases
COMPANY CASE
ABB - E-mobility
Here you find the Company Cases’ descriptions. An excellent
way of getting to know the company is by solving an actual
problem the company presents to you!
You will work in small groups of students and work together to find an optimal solution to
the problem. Each case will take 3 hours and will take place only once.
By participating in a Case, you will get a very hands-on look into what working at the
company is like, and what knowledge from your studies you can apply and how you
could apply it.
Welcome to the world of ABB E-mobility where we think about
creating the future of E-mobility every day!
During this company case, you will step into the shoes of ABB E-mobility’s top specialists
who are currently working on the challenges presented by our big customers. The customers
with whom we design Electrical Vehicle (EV) charging sites. When we design EV charging
sites with multiple EV chargers, one of the most complex and advanced topics comes into
play; load management. Load management focusses on how to distribute the available
power across all EV chargers.
Depending on which role you would like to take, you can handle the topic in different ways.
Are you the technical specialist who writes down the math of the power distribution and
does the calculations? Are you the user experience specialist who will make sure the car
owner understands what’s going on in the charging session? Are you the sales specialist
who stands for the needs of the big customer?
As in real life, we bring all perspectives together and try to find the best solution possible!
Are you ready for the challenge?
Note: Prior knowledge of EV chargers is not necessary for participation in the company
case. You will be guided by employees of ABB E-mobility.
For information and to

COMPANY CASE
Besix Unitec Nederland
During this case, you will have the opportunity to work on a
challenging assignment in which you will design an autonomous
bridge or an aspect of it, taking into account factors such as:
• Cybersecurity and data management
• Personal safety
• Public accessibility
• Shipping (professional and pleasure) and road traffic (such as priority vehicles)
To achieve this, you can consider techniques such as camera systems, audio, hydraulics,
informing users in various ways, big data, person detection, drones, and more.
BESIX Unitec will provide a brief introduction in which the basic concepts of a movable
bridge will be explained. Then, you will work in groups of five students and have two
hours to complete the assignment. During this hackathon, you will be challenged to think
quickly and make decisions to come up with creative solutions. You will be guided by
professionals from BESIX Unitec in this field, who will help you develop ideas and challenge
you throughout the process. After these two hours, each group will have five minutes to
present their ideas to a jury of professionals from the water infrastructure industry. The goal
of this pitch/presentation is to demonstrate how you have fulfilled the assignment and which
solution is the most future-proof and out-of-the-box.
If you are looking for a challenging and technical assignment that also contributes to the
safety of users, then this case is the perfect opportunity for you. You will have the chance to
work on an assignment that is not only technically challenging, but also contributes to the
safety of water infrastructure.
COMPANY CASE
Boer & Croon
Management
Solutions B.V.
Boer & Croon has developed a Lean game that connects theory
with practice. You are invited to join! During this case you will
find out what Young Executive Operations encounter in their
assignments and you will learn more about Lean in practice.
Through this game, Boer & Croon gives an insight into the life of a Young Executive
Operations based on role-playing, actually building bicycles with Knex, working together as
a team, connecting theory with practice, and implementing changes as a team.
The intention is to show that content is important and provides the basis for implementing
changes, but that actually realizing changes with the people requires another competence,
which Boer & Croon is particularly good at.
No long stories or just providing advice, but implementing changes in the workplace
together with people and management ensures that sustainable results are achieved.
The Lean game is based on a Boer & Croon assignment at a bicycle manufacturer and the
assignment was to increase the annual production of bicycles.
The best team had built 12 bikes so far, are you able to build more bikes with your team at
the end of the 3 rounds by applying Lean principles?

the preparations of the Series B investment round with additional
strategic partners.
SO KEEP ON CLIMBING
The ambition to contribute to a more sustainable world, combined with the drive to
innovate and attitude to challenge status quo, is what brought Lightyear and Deloitte
