Dear Business Partner,<br />
Sustainable textiles are becoming increasingly important for more<br />
and more people. Ecological materials, environmentally friendly<br />
manufacturing processes and social responsibility have long been<br />
relevant issues with customers. Now the question of impact on our<br />
climate is rising in relevance too.<br />
The textile industry is one of the largest CO 2 emitters worldwide. From<br />
raw materials to production and logistics, very significant CO 2 emissions<br />
are caused. Consumers rightly ask us how we are tackling this problem.<br />
At <strong>LIVING</strong> <strong>CRAFTS</strong> we’ve asked ourselves the same question too. And<br />
we think that simply referring to the high quality and durability of our<br />
products is not enough. That‘s why two years ago we started working<br />
with ClimatePartner.<br />
Since 2020, we have been offsetting the emissions caused by our<br />
company headquarters in Selbitz and have been certified as a „ climateneutral<br />
company“ by ClimatePartner. Which has been a first step.<br />
However, since the majority of the CO 2 for which we are responsible is<br />
caused by our products, last year we’ve calculated the CO 2 emissions<br />
caused by our entire production and supply chain, from the cotton field<br />
to our warehouses.<br />
Since the beginning of this year, every item in our range has been<br />
certified by ClimatePartner as a „ Climate Neutral Product“. For us, this<br />
is an important contribution to the future of our planet. For consumers,<br />
this is another important argument for switching to sustainable textiles.<br />
We are pleased to introduce our seasonal COLLECTION for spring/<br />
summer 2023. Last year we structured our range in a new way, offering<br />
you our seasonal COLLECTION and long-term ESSENTIALS. Starting this<br />
season, we are also presenting them with two separate catalogues.<br />
We are happy to forward you our separate ESSENTIALS catalogue on<br />
request.<br />

DEFINITION<br />
CARBON NEUTRAL:<br />
Carbon Neutral means that the carbon<br />
footprint of a company, product, service<br />
or event has been calculated on the<br />
basis of internationally recognised<br />
standards and balanced by supporting<br />
certified climate protection projects.<br />
The „Carbon Neutral“ label from<br />
ClimatePartner certifies that all<br />
calculated greenhouse gas emissions<br />
have been offset.<br />
Offsetting CO2 emissions is an important<br />
step in a holistic climate protection<br />
strategy, in addition to avoidance and<br />
reduction. ClimatePartner recommends<br />
that companies establish avoidance<br />
and reduction of CO2 emissions as a<br />
continuous process and supports them<br />
in corresponding strategies, for example<br />
by defining scientifically based reduction<br />
targets or switching to renewable<br />
energies.<br />

EMISSION SOURCES<br />
CONSIDERED<br />
Unless otherwise stated, the “Carbon<br />
Neutral” label for companies includes<br />
at least direct emissions generated<br />
within the company (electricity and<br />
heat generation, vehicle fleet, fugitive<br />
gases) and indirect emissions from<br />
purchased energy, business travel and<br />
employee commuting. Other emissions<br />
that occur outside the company during<br />
the production of raw materials and<br />
intermediate products, external logistics<br />
as well as product use and disposal<br />
or other processes are not subject to<br />
climate neutrality.<br />
The Carbon Neutral label for products<br />
includes the production and processing<br />
of raw materials and intermediate<br />
products, transport right up to the<br />
Point of Sale, emissions from sources<br />
not directly attributable to products<br />
(e.g. employee travel), and disposal at<br />
the end of the product life cycle. The<br />
use phase of products is not covered by<br />
carbon neutrality, unless the use of the<br />
product itself leads to direct emissions,<br />
such as the use of a combustion engine<br />
or a gas-powered heating system.<br />
