THE BASICS OF MOTOCROSS
otocross is a challenging and physically demanding sport that requires
a high level of skill and athleticism. It is also a very popular sport, with many
the race.
Checkered flag: This
flag indicates the end
session.
Blue flag: This flag
Red flag: This flag
The basic rules of motocross are relatively simple: riders must
complete a set number of laps on the track, and the first rider to
cross the finish line is the winner. However, there are also rules
regarding safety, such as the use of protective gear, and
penalties for rule infractions.

THEY ARE CONCERNED FOR YOUR
SAFETY.
Motocross is a physically demanding sport that requires a combination
of skill, strength, and technique. Here are some techniques that
motocross riders may use to improve their performance on the track:
Body positioning: Riders need to maintain a proper body position while
riding, including a slight forward lean, keeping weight over the front
wheel, and keeping the elbows up to absorb the impact of jumps and
obstacles.
Cornering: Riders need to master the art of cornering, which involves
leaning the bike into the turn, keeping the inside foot peg down, and
using the throttle to power out of the turn.
Jumping: Riders need to master the technique of jumping, which
involves timing the jump, keeping the bike level, and landing smoothly.
Whipping: This technique allows riders to make the bike spin 180
degrees in the air and land facing the opposite direction.
Power sliding: This technique allows riders to maintain speed while
cornering by sliding the rear wheel.
Ruts: Riders need to learn how to ride in ruts, which are deep grooves
in the track created by the tires of previous riders. This technique
involves using the ruts to maintain traction and control while cornering.
Line choice: Riders need to learn how to choose the best line on the
track, which is the path that allows them to maintain the most speed and
avoid obstacles.
Fitness: Motocross is a physically demanding sport that requires a high
level of fitness and endurance. Riders need to maintain a regular
training regimen that includes cardio, strength training, and stretching.

ROUND TWO PROGRAMME
T H E S E A S O N S O
F A R
The Revo ACU British Motocross Championship kicked off its first round at Oakhanger in Borden, where the top riders in
the country gathered to battle it out for the top spot. The newly built sand track proved to be a challenging one for the
riders, testing their skill, determination, and speed. The Championship now moves to Canada Heights, one of the most
highly anticipated tracks of the year for the second round on the 2nd of April 2023.
In 2022, the MX1 class, Tommy Searle won both races and took home the overall, while Josh Gilbert and Harri Kullas
traded results to take 2nd and 3rd overall, respectively. After the first round of the British Championship Harri Kullas
dominated the MX1 race, leaving his competitors behind as he took a 1-1 in the first round. Despite the best efforts of
Conrad Mewse and Josh Gilbert from the Crendon Fastrack Honda team, Kullas proved to be unstoppable as he powered
his Cab Screens Crescent Yamaha towards victory and will be a tough one to stop at Canada Heights.
In the MX2 class, Isak Gifting, Bobby Bruce, Jorgen-Matthias Talviku, and Jake Milward battled it out on the track for the
top spot. Gifting showed incredible skill and determination as he pushed his Gas Gas to the limit, taking home a 1-1 and
securing 50 points heading to Canada Heights. Isak will be expected to score high again this year, as in 2022 Isak Gifting
took home a perfect scorecard and overall, with Dylan Walsh in 2nd and Kay Karssemakers in 3rd.
CANADA HEIGHTS 2ND APRIL
Billy Askew stole the show in the 250cc class with
his bold and aggressive riding style going 1-1, while
Mckenzie Marshal put up a strong fight to keep up.
Liam Bennett also displayed impressive riding but
was ultimately unable to keep pace with the two
leaders. Askew crossed the finish line first,
securing his position as a top rider in the 250cc
class. Askew will be looking to replicate 2022
finishing on the top step.
In the 125cc class, Reece Jones, Wal Beaney, and
Jake Walker took their respective places on the
podium with impressive performances in both
races. Jones quickly pulled away from the pack in
race one, with Beaney putting up a valiant effort to
catch up, and Walker not far behind. Jones
continued his dominant performance in race two,
crossing the line having lapped up to fifth place in
the class.
The Big Wheel 85cc class also provided great
racing, with Josh Vail, Charlie Richmond, and Drew
Stock battling it out all day for their spots on the
podium. Vail took an early lead in race one,
showing impressive race craft to master the
challenging sand track on his KTM. Drew Stock put
up a strong fight to catch up, with consistent lap
times that matched those of the #479. Vail
emerged victorious in the end. In race two, Charlie
Richmond got a much better start, allowing him to
battle inside the top 3 for much of the race.
However, Vail once again produced a masterclass
to leave Borden with a 1-1 scorecard and the top
step of the podium.
Rev up your engines and witness the ultimate
display of skill and speed! Join us to catch the top
VENUE INFORMATION
The course at Swanley, Kent known as Canada Heights, acquired its name during the 1914-18 War when a large
contingent of Canadian troops were camped there on the high ground. It has, however been in regular use for offroad
motorcycle sports for many years, and by the Sidcup and District Motorcycle Club since 1952. Over the years,
the circuit has hosted many events, from Club level to International status. It drew large crowds and national
television coverage with the BBC “Grandstand Trophy” events during the 1960s. Despite its popularity and regular
use by riders and spectators alike, it still remained just a rough piece of land for motorcycling until 1985, when the
Sidcup Club bought it with the aid of a grant from the Sports Council and sponsorship from companies and
individuals.
The Revo ACU British Motocross Championship is the perfect day out for anyone who is interested in motorsport but
also those who are looking for a family day out. During your time at the event you will see riders battle it out to the
chequered flag in each race as the Championship begins its 2022 season tour before the ACU British Motocross
Champions are crowned at the final round on September 10th and 11th.
PADDOCK
There will only be space for one vehicle per rider in the paddock. All riders must operate from the designated paddock
only. Late arrivals must wait in the holding area until the morning. All other team vehicles must be left in the paddock
overflow car park and must display a window sticker B (additional window stickers can be applied for) Vehicles not
displaying the appropriate window sticker will be directed into the Public Car Park. Tickets can be left for collection at
the Welcome Office at the entrance to the circuit.
