<strong>Mak</strong> <strong>Fung</strong> 麥 烽 (1918-2009)<br />

<strong>Mak</strong> <strong>Fung</strong> began his photographic practice in the<br />

late 1940s, using a small darkroom at home. In<br />

the 70s, besides lecturing on photography, he was<br />

also Honorary Fellow of the Chinese Photographic<br />

Association of <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> and Asian Photographic<br />

Association of Singapore. In 1984, <strong>Mak</strong> became<br />

editor of Photo Pictorial, <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong>’s longest and<br />

most influential photography magazine. As the<br />

first generation of photographers after WWII, <strong>Mak</strong><br />

<strong>Fung</strong>’s role was significant in photographing and<br />

documenting <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong>. <strong>Fung</strong> <strong>Mak</strong> has two books<br />

published: The Wind, The Sunshine, and The<br />

Foliage (1992), and <strong>Hong</strong> <strong>Kong</strong> Once Was (1997).
