auction which helped raise funds for the
Chairman’s chosen charity. We were happy to do
the same this year and I’m pleased to announce
that they had not just the one winner, but two
– FirstLine Recovery and Ashley Wood, with all
funds raised going towards this year’s chosen
charity, Great Ormand Street Hospital. Derek
has very kindly donated his time to interview
them both with FirstLine Recovery to first to
feature, you can read his interview on page 10.
Kingfisher Insurance may be a new name in
the recovery industry, but Pauline Brookes will
be familiar to many of you. As main headline
sponsor for this year’s Tow Show, we thought it
was a good time to sit down with Pauline and as
lead of the Motor Trade team, get her thoughts
and plans for what they will bring to the industry.
Nick has provided an update on all Tow Show
news over on page 16 with new exhibitors
being announced almost every day. However,
our main Tow Show news for this issue is the
announcement of our Professional Recovery
Industry Awards. Two awards are currently
presented on the evening, we plan to extend
that to five. More information is one page 22 and
updates will be provided in upcoming issues.

Following Ernie’s passing back in April
2020 in the midst of the early stages of
the Covid Pandemic, it was not possible
for the family to hold a public service to

A Public Memorial Service is to be held
to celebrate his life, while his ashes are
laid to rest in the family plot at Llanaber
Cemetery, near Barmouth.
On Friday 14th April 2023 at 11.30am,
Ernie’s ashes casket will be transported
in a Bradbury’s recovery truck from
Bradbury’s Garage, Park Road,
Barmouth through the High Street and past
The Quay before making its way to Llanaber
Cemetery for 12.00 midday where a Public
Memorial Service is to be held to celebrate
Ernie’s life before his ashes are interred in
the family grave.

PROFCon 23 moves to the home of the Tow Show for this year’s premier recovery industry conference -
The Holiday Inn Telford will be the platform for PROFCon 23!
I
am more than hopeful that the
presentations will be interesting,
informative and most importantly,
relevant to your businesses.
The line up of prospective presenters
will be announced as soon as they are all
confirmed, but so far so good in the lineup
of presenters we have agreed to date.
There is a limited amount of delegate
spaces available, but if you have not yet
been sent an invitation and want to attend
please contact either Sue or myself for an
invitation and we will do our very best to
accommodate you.
The relevance of this year’s conference
has direct implications regarding the
independent recovery industry network, so
I am keen to include as many independent
VRO’s as we can accommodate and who
want to attend.
Hopefully as time evolves, VRO’s will
begin to now understand and appreciate
that PROF is an industry platform created
to communicate and sometimes advocate
collectively along with our strategic partners
on all matters vehicle rescue and recovery.
We are not a commercial platform, but
it is a fact that PROF, and our strategic
partners, have raised the professional
profile of the recovery industry. Together
with our partners we have finally achieved
an increase to the statutory fees.
Our partners were receptive to our
approach that requested that VRO’s retain
the total amount of the increase.
PROF also instigated the recent review of
National Police Contracts, which has been
very positive and insightful.
PROF was the catalyst behind the PROSE
Executive which will hopefully raise industry
awareness and acknowledgement of NHSS/
17b as a minimum industry standard.
I could continue, but I would rather bore
you with the complete presentation at the
conference itself.
My point is everything presented and
discussed at PROFCon 22 has been followed
up and in some cases is now current.
Some items have been of some economic
significance to the recovery industry itself.
I don’t have 20 reasons to join PROF,
because I don’t really want members
questioning the lack of democracy,
or demanding value for money from a
perceived dictatorship. However, I do have
one or two facts on why PROF is now the
united federated industry platform I’ve
always wanted it to be! Together with our
strategic partners, I’ll tell you all about the
our future agenda at PROFCon 23, where
I will explain how working together as that
federated platform, the vehicle recovery
industry together with its stakeholders now
has a credible and productive profile.

Another item I would like to discuss at PROFCon 23 is the
fast growing evolution of artificial Intelligence. No that’s not the
signing of profitless EBS contracts or the scientific research
recently carried out regarding red lights.
Artificial intelligence in the form of Chat GPT, I believe, could
revolutionise call centres, 24 hour control rooms, and is a
subject very relevant to the recovery industry cost base.
Our strategic partners and our industry stakeholders all
have a vested interest in how AI technology manifests itself.
AI could dictate how we communicate and pass data amongst
our various networks.
As VRO’s I think it’s important
that that we are part of the
consultation with each other
on the ground floor of the
discussions, to make sure we all
leave together on the top floor
as one.

5TH ANNIVERSARY

This issue comes right of the back of the Institutes AGM and 40th anniversary celebrations, the last magazine
had extensive coverage of that successful event and if social media is your thing, then thumbing through your
Facebook, Twitter and Instagram would have given you a whistle stop tour of the AGM, all the guest speakers
and what a great anniversary evening was had by all the members and their guests.
However, and I think by design, there was very little coverage
of the Chairman’s Charity. Despite the fantastic work RISC
does for the recovery industry, the fundraising at the IVR
AGM generally supports an alternative charity, last year was the
Ukraine UK support fund, and the year before that was Prostate
Cancer UK, this year was no different, the Chairman Chris Hoare’s
chosen charity was Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, better
known as GOSH, past years fund raising has always reached double
figures and this year was no different.
The fundraising had the usual raffle with some great prizes
donated, but most popular was the charity auction, popular
for several reasons, entertainment value, yes, why not as Nick
Ovenden and Mac Hobbs are a duo fit for a cabaret at any industry
event not least because there is no face in the audience they don’t
know, and with every hand raised came the name of the bidder.
By popular demand was the front cover of Professional Recovery
Magazine along with an editorial by my good self, not that I will
add much value, but happy to contribute. The bidding started low

planning permission enabling us to move to our yard in Pump Lane.
After circling the industrial estate, I was fortunate and managed
to get a parking space right next door. Greeted by Ross I had a
whistle stop tour of the workshop and control room, crazy but I
just love the atmosphere of a silent control room, with that Apex
RMS screen, full of work, every colour of the rainbow, all except
that horrible red - that’s distinctive of a late job. No, that eerie
quietness for me demonstrates an organised control room.
Before going up to Steve’s office I was introduced to Karen,
Steve’s wife. You just know there is always a good woman behind
a good business, she’s managing the company’s finances, keeping
that age debt to a minimum.
The office block is positioned at the back of a modern workshop
with car storage racking on both sides. The offices are new, a
modular system that looks just like a purpose-built stack of new
shipping containers but when you go inside, they are like the Dr
Who Tardis, spacious, new, fresh and modern, not like some dodgy
old portacabin of old, how time changes.
Then upstairs I’m greeted by Steve and the next generation of
Firstline Recovery, the Fitzgerald empire, Karen and Steve’s 11-yearold
son Ryan. Even at the age of 11 his knowledge of the business,
the truck fleet and customer base were a bit scary; he’s definitely
getting involved and showing unbelievable interest. Introductions
over and I ask Steve to just tell me as much as he wants to about
Firstline Recovery and how a relatively young company had grown
so quickly.
“Contrary to all the spurious rumours, Firstline Recovery
came about for several reasons, yes it was cultivated from a very
successful security business - now that phrase always makes
you think of a 6 foot 6, hardened doorman, and yes of course
we did door work, but the business was much more than that.
We supplied staff for festivals, concerts, sporting events, boxing
matches, government infrastructure projects and bodyguarding
requirements. We also did a lot of bailiff work, vehicle, protester,
squatter and traveller removals- never pretty.”
with a handful of bidders, eventually there was just two left bidding
against each other, we all know for a successful auction you only
need two bidders, Steve Fitzgerald of Firstline Recovery and Jeff
Bungey Ashley Wood, the bids were jumping in the hundreds of
pounds, with the hammer dropping with a final bid from Steve, I’m
not disclosing the value of the final bid as it was just too generous.
But shortly after Jeff approached Mac and agreed to match the
bid for a second cover and editorial, that is if it were available,
that’s a yes by the way, so that will come in a later editorial.
Firstline Recovery, a relatively new name to rescue and recovery
as they were formed back in 2018, with this edit marking their 5th
anniversary. I first saw them four or five years ago on the Southside
of the M25 with their striking but simple navy-blue writing
over a solid white background, always pristine in appearance
demonstrating a real class act. Living only a few miles from the
Surrey boarders, it’s not surprising I see more and more of that
distinctive livery.
For magazine readers and Tow Show attendees, Firstline was
that cheeky operator that burst on the scene at the 2021 Tow
Show with a small line-up of Steve’s fleet strategically placed at
the top of the carpark, not to show off, no to make a statement
demonstrating both their commitment and investment.
Auction monies paid and a phone call from Paul Gregory
and I contacted Ross Needs, Commercial Manager for Firstline
Recovery, date set and off I trot to Longmead Industrial Estate,
Epsom, Surrey. On my approach to Firstline’s operating centre, I
saw all the signs of a successful recovery business that is suffering
from growing pains, with that distinctive blue writing over a white
background on each truck that was taking up every available
parking space on all the approaching roads. This was something
I could truly reflect on, if I were to turn the clock back 35 years,
every parking space in Chesterfield Way, Hayes was peppered with
that distinctive Kenfield blue, with me and Colin praying we got the

But the main reason to move away and carve out a new career
and to start a fresh family business was sat right next to Steve,
it was his son Ryan. Steve went on to explain: “Yes, the security
business makes you a hardened character, but not a bad person,
but did I want Ryan to join the family security business, NO.”
“The bailiff work meant we always had a recovery vehicle or two,
and back in 2018 we decided to break away and do the recovery
job properly. We didn’t just buy a few trucks and have a go, no
through COVID we slowly wound down the security business and
mapped out our business plan for Firstline Recovery.”
“Ross was key to this, as our commercial manager he set to work
on all our policies and procedures and a framework to fast track
our ISO, PAS43 and hot off the press our NHSS17/17B, the full set of
accreditations we are really proud of.”
Steve continued: “So many had questioned how we have grown
so big and so quick. I truly believed it was because we set out to
do the job properly from the start, not to mess around with a few
old trucks, no, do it properly. We had no choice with ULEZ on
our doorstep and having to comply with direct vision standards.
We had no choice but to work with a new or at least a nearly new
fleet. And when it came to investing, don’t forget I had my security
business finances, plus I have other business interests, commercial
property and I own a very successful pub, something else I didn’t
want Ryan directly involved in, anyway that meant financing didn’t
represent a problem.”
So, the succession plan is clear, all this is a long-term family plan
for Ryan’s future. I asked Steve to tell me about the business plan
he spoke about, what does he think sets the philosophy of Firstline
Recovery apart from their competitors. He explained that there
are very few competitors locally, the few there are, are very small
just looking after their workshops with a few trucks, we’re now 52
trucks and all Euro 6, with another 6 on order.
“We’re specialising in all aspects of recovery, from your everyday
movement or distance recovery to accident recovery, total lift,
street lifter or Eastract recovery, and of course heavy recovery, we
currently operate two heavies with a third on order with Boniface,
plus we have a new Landoll trailer.”
“We now have 34 drivers and no truck sharing, some will say that’s
crazy, but when the driver has a dedicated truck, he treats it like
his own, with pride, and when you invest in your drivers the way we
do it pays dividends.” Steve and Ross went on to explain that all the
drivers are IVR trained, in fact good old Nick Ovenden was booked
for the next three days, with bookings on a regular basis over the
coming weeks and months, both Steve and Ross expressed how
much he respected the IVR and how they encourage all their staff
to become members.
They both expanded on the level and type of training they have,
everything recovery is IVR, as clearly this is the very best said Steve:
“I strongly believe as the business owner I should be in a position
to perform all the business functions, from the simple roadside
to rollover or winch out, so I’ve been on many of the IVR courses
available, plus I’m a management CPC holder plus we also have ADR
and Incident managers.” Clearly, they are great believers in training.
I said with a 50 plus fleet and 34 drivers you must have a large
customer base, so who were they? Steve explained his customer
policy was quite simple, providing the rates and payment terms
were right, then Firstline would work for any work provider. What
they avoid is working direct for the owner/operator. “We do hold
contracts with all the main club work providers and are really proud
of that. AA, RAC, LV Britannia, as well as FMG and a few others.”
Steve went on to say Firstline are also agents for all the recognised
independent work providers, Crouch, NWVA, CMG, Dynes, etc. “On

occasions we get contacted direct by their customer to quote or
tender for their work, that is something we will never do, I’m not
interested in working direct for any of them.”
“No, they can hold the contract/agreement directly and I’m
happy to work for all of them, covering the work in my area, or if
asked further afield. I even do the local bus company and authority
work as a third-party supplier; the policy works for Firstline.”
I guess my final question must be, what’s next for Firstline?
“We haven’t finished expanding, but as you said earlier, we have
outgrown this building in its current form. So, this will stay as our
head office and control room and will be our workshop and inhouse
vehicle maintenance facility. We are in the final stages of
securing a two-acre storage yard, it’s fully serviced with remote

Bill Jackson Award
presented to Manchetts
Rescue and Recovery
Bill Jackson was a pioneer within the recovery industry.
An infamous heavy vehicle recovery driver and tow truck
operator in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, he was the first training
instructor of tow truck and heavy recovery in both the UK
and the USA.
Since 1987 the Bill Jackson Award commends professional
excellence within the recovery industry and is presented
after the formal business of the IVR’s AGM in March. Over the
last 15 years the award has been presented to some of the most
respected operators.
This year’s popular winners of the award were Manchetts Rescue
and Recovery who demonstrated the recovery of a digger from
the sea. Manchetts’ application included the equipment they used,
the winching calculations and the method of recovery, with an
abundance of photographs making it easy for the award assessors
to understand exactly how the recovery had been controlled
following Manchetts’ risk assessment.
This particular job used a recovery incident manager, who liaised
with the port officials and environment agency due to the nature of
the hazards presented, which had the potential to impact on local
wildlife, with the added pressure of being within a conversation
area. Additionally, as the digger was in the sea, there were major
considerations of tidal activity and of course rolling resistance as
well as ensuring that their own staff, vehicles and equipment were
able to quickly and safely escape the area should they need to.
This was a great example of the diverse type of work a vehicle
recovery operator can be asked to resolve.
It is also the part of the industry few get to appreciate - the
complexities of a non-standard recovery. It is also a great example
of the training that the IVR develops specifically for the role of a
vehicle recovery operator.
The Bill Jackson Award has a fitting recipient and home for the
next year in Manchetts Rescue and Recovery. We ask all vehicle
recovery operators as they go through 2023/24 to consider
whether they too have a job/jobs that they too can submit for
consideration for the next AGM (March 2024).
To be considered for the award, all vehicle recovery operators
(large or small) are required to submit evidence that showcases
a completed recovery job, regardless of if heavy or light. All
applications must show the recovery process and should
demonstrate the degree of difficulty and the challenges faced,
along with how they executed the recovery.
Applications can be made to mail@theivrgroup.com and should
include photographic and/or video evidence, risk assessments,
method statements or anything else that supported the operation.
Finally, you do not need to wait for the end of the year to submit
your job, why not submit it whilst it is still fresh in your mind.

Norfolk based PJ Kerley are one of the largest operators in
the area. With depots in Norwich, Great Yarmouth and East
Harling they provide a quick response across the county and
beyond. With this in mind, the team have consistently invested in
their fleet adding at least one new vehicle every year into service.
2023 was a special year for PJ Kerley as they celebrated 50 years
in business. To commemorate this, a special 50th anniversary logo
has been incorporated into the graphics on their latest vehicle
that was recently collected from Boniface. This latest vehicle was a
Renault D14 chassis fitted with 6T VLA slidebed which was specified
with numerous options including a 2t capacity second car lift
with Jige wheel grids, full radio remote operation of the body and
winch, winching capabilities for direct pull, side winching and low
pull onto the second car lift along with all of the tooling and safety
lighting necessary to complete any roadside recovery.
Along with the Boniface Engineering and PJ Kerley collaboration,
anniversary celebrations for both companies and continued
business relationship, it would be remiss to overlook a third party
in this process, Thompson Commercials who are the local Renault
dealer to both Boniface Engineering and PJ Kerley. Both Boniface
and PJ Kerley have a long-standing relationship with Thompson
Commercials via their local representative Richard Laws-Chapman

Birthday to
remember for
the Hobbs family
Ken Hobbs, father of Hobbs Recovery Mac Hobbs, recently had a
birthday to remember. Not only did he celebrate his 100th birthday,
but he featured on BBC Breakfast TV.
Ken, a D-Day veteran, celebrated his
birthday on 12 February. Ken’s friend
Margaret Wilson, who is also a WWII
veteran, celebrated her 100th birthday
on the same day. The pair first met at
the Blind Veterans UK wellbeing centre
in Brighton where Ken is a resident.
This happy coincidence was picked up
by local media and eventually appeared
as a feature on BBC Breakfast.
The day was made complete with
the birth of Ken’s great-grandson,
Sonny Baldwin in the evening, meaning
he was born 100 years to the day after
his great-grandfather.
Ken was presented with the Légion
d’honneur in 2019 from the French
government, awarded to British
veterans who fought for the liberation
of France during the Second World
War. His father was also decorated by
the French with the Croix de Guerre
for his actions in the First World War,
making a rare occurrence of both
father and son honored by the French
in separate wars.

We caught up with her to discuss
how Kingfisher Insurance can
support the industry, what she
likes to do outside of work, and
plans for the future..
You’ve worked in insurance for many years and are well known
by many people in the sector. You now head up the Motor Trade
team at Kingfisher Insurance, who have kindly agreed to be
headline sponsors of the Professional Recovery Tow Show this
year. Tell us a bit about Kingfisher and the team you work with.

What is the biggest challenge you see facing us in the months and

There are many issues, but an increasing risk is the recovery,
storage, and disposal of electric vehicles.
There’s no doubt that the number of EVs on our roads is going
to increase, which will pose challenges for the recovery operator.
We’re aware that not everyone is authorised to work on parts of
EVs, yet main dealers are not always available to take possession of
recovered vehicles. This leads to them being towed elsewhere and
stored, creating greater risk and taking up valuable time and space.
We will continue to look at this situation to see how insurers can
respond to help businesses involved in recovering and servicing
EVs in future.
Away from business, how do you like to spend your time?
I love to get up early each day and take my dogs walking. They are
constant companions and give me a reason to get up and going
in the morning, keeping me fit and healthy. And they tend not to
argue with me like some people do!
We took them away on holiday with us to Devon a couple of
months ago, and it was so nice to see them running around on the
beach and enjoying themselves, while relaxing and getting away
from it all ourselves.
I’m currently taking my youngest Springer Spaniel, Brodie, to gun
dog training, which he really enjoys and is getting better at all the
time.
In spring and summer, you will see me chilling in the garden.
Hopefully there will be enough sun and warmer days than there
were in March!
We’re looking forward to the Tow Show this September. As
headline sponsors, do you have any surprises in store for us?
Well, if I told you that, it wouldn’t be a surprise, would it?!
It goes without saying that we’ll want to see and speak to as
many people as we can, so we’ll make sure there are good reasons
to come and talk to us, and to have some fun, too!
I’ve been coming to the show year in, year out since the first
show in 2003, and I’ve seen so much change, but the one thing
that remains is the warm welcome everybody extends to each
other.

What are your plans for the future?

DON’T FIX THE
UNBROKEN!
Sometimes it seems that people have
to make a change for no good reason
and we see it in all walks of life; people
changing the colour of their front door
and, sometimes, changing their sleeping
partners, often for no reason never mind a
good reason. Much the same could be said
about the Government’s decision to review
the period of time that will lapse between a
vehicles MOT’s.
A very comprehensive and thorough
document relating to this proposal has just
had its consultancy period come to an end.
Whilst this makes very interesting reading
and deals with just about every scenario
that could crop up, the underlying question
that irritates me is why change it when, as
far as I’m aware, it is running smoothly and
we have still got a nation whose cars and
light vans are relatively safe and roadworthy.
There are a few various proposals but
there was one which seems to rise to the
top, which is to have the first MOT test at
four years and each year afterwards. Firstly,
I must ask who will benefit from such a
change and the only benefit as far as I can
see is a £50’odd saving for those who would
have had a car tested at three years not
having to spend the money until the fourth
year. Even that may drop out as people
change their cars. Everyone else is a loser.
The testing stations will lose their fee, the
Vehicle Driving Standards Agency will lose
their slot fee, which is their small share of
an MOT Pass. Money will need to be spent
on computerisation updates with the DVLA
so that these extended vehicles will not
be denied road fund tax due to not having
an MOT certificate. When Boris Johnson
first hinted at the move back in his day, I
guess he thought it was a vote winner but,
in reality, if it was implemented today, it is
still a long way down the line before £50.00
is saved.
The main line of objection to the proposal
is that it would allow more dangerous
cars and vans on already crowded roads
but, since the number of accidents with
mechanical failure are relatively small. One
suggestion was that there would in fact, be
no more fatalities than at the current time.
Another element suggested there could
be as many as 15 or 20 but, as you can
see, quite a bit guesswork is involved. We
all know mechanical components are now
much more durable and last much longer
than they did 30 years ago but in some
areas components are not checked and
maintained.
Of the various fatalities that have
occurred due to mechanical issues, over
50% were tyre related, with another 15%
or 20% being brakes and steering. The
rest are a mish mash of bits and pieces,
including two deaths from over-loading. If
you take out the really high mileage cars,
the average annual mileage is about 10,000
miles meaning that a car now having a test
at 30,000 would run to 40,000 miles. It is
not difficult to see how tyres could become
an issue but, if we take a good old fashioned
look at the problem of tyres we need to
get some old fashioned thinking and have
people pay more attention to their running
gear.
Though it doesn’t seem to be such a
big issue, the document also identifies
that vans and light trucks (Class VII) do an
average mileage of 70,000 in the first three
years and, as we know, these vehicles have
a much higher fail rate on their first test
than a private car. From a road safety point
of view there would, perhaps, be a case
for bringing the first test for these vehicles
down to two years. Going to four years first
could see them at almost 100000 miles
without a test. In many ways it should be all
about miles as corrosion is a thing of the
past, in most modern cars and vans. HGVs
are already annual, again high mileage.
Whilst it’s been interesting having a look
at the various proposals, at the end of the
day what is the point of changing something
where, honestly, no-one is going to benefit
and it’s something that has been good for
50 years.

National Rescue
National Rescue has been at the forefront of the rescue and
recovery industry for over fifty years, during which it has seen and
attended countless breakdowns and accidents ranging from the
most basic to the most extreme.
Take this recent job for example, we all know that when the rain
starts to pour in the UK, the roads come to a grinding halt - add
that to the evening rush hour in South London and you have a

under tricky conditions. Unfortunately, whether or not these
vehicles would ever drive the streets again was a different story
altogether!

Following the Falklands war and having been busy running the tool
room for Vosper Thornycroft, John Skerratt became bored with
repairing ships and hovercraft. On 1st April 1983, with the assistance
of his wife Carole doing the book-keeping, John started trading as
Owl Motor Services.
Initially as a mobile mechanic, he soon moved into premises in
Southsea, Portsmouth and has never looked back. It quickly got
known that if parts were not available, he was able to make them.
As the business grew, their son Robert joined the team and
developed the recovery side of the business. Robert’s son Ashley
grew up with the Owl recovery trucks and also joined the business
in 2012.
So here we are with three generations of the family currently

We were called out by the customer to A15 outside RAF
Scampton. It was a loaded fuel tanker that had gone off
road and down embankment. I had received one image of
the vehicle showing it had gone through a hedge row. A few
moments later a couple more pictures were sent across to me
and the job was a whole different scenario. From the images I
planned what was the best way to recover both unit and trailer.
The weather was very grey and wet in Lincolnshire. We arrived
on scene to find the Red Arrows flying overhead on what was
one of their last training exercises. The fuel was unloaded from
the tanker. I then winched vehicle up the embankment back
onto the road. The trailer was loaded onto our Landoll and I
loaded the tractor unit on the heavy wrecker.

Judgepower Training Services
Working at the roadside can be a very dangerous place to work
and be an ever-changing environment that will require frequent
assessing throughout your time working at the scene whether
you are repairing a vehicle or recovering one.
Management should ensure that their vehicle technicians
have undergone training that covers all aspects of the work to
be undertaken. Do you and your staff know how to approach
the scene and park appropriately? Do they know what the roles
and responsibilities are with regards to safe working at the
roadside or what the procedures are when preparing to leave
the scene? Do they know how to carry out a risk assessment? The
answers should be YES for anyone who’s job role is working at the
roadside.
It is essential to complete a dynamic risk assessment at the
scene to ensure you and the vehicle driver and any passengers
welfare is looked after and managed correctly.

This knowledge should be the minimum requirement for a
roadside/recovery technician. We at Judgepower train the IVR
VR3 module Assessing the Roadside Situation which covers
the basic skills mentioned above. This can be delivered as a
1-day course (mostly for main dealers or alike) or preferably can
be part of the 2-day “Core Modules” training which includes
IVR VR1 Health & Safety and IVR VR2 Customer Service. On
successful completion of the induction modules VR01, VR02
and VR03 the operative/technician are eligible to be registered
as a vehicle roadside technician and be issued with the relevant
Red Registration Card. IVR training meets the requirements
of both PAS 43 and National Highways Sector Scheme 17/17B
(NHSS17/17B)
