The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.

MEMBERS.
Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is defined
in Article III, section 1 of the bylaws in part
as follows: "Membership in Central Valley
Corvettes shall be open to all Corvette
owners who are sponsored by a member in
good standing. Additionally, a prospective
member must, within a three-month period,
attend two consecutive meetings, participate
in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two-thirds vote of membership present at a
general membership meeting by secret ballot.
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all members
must be a member of the association
providing club liability insurance for
CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings or
two sanctioned activities as per CVC Bylaws.
CVC membership dues are $60 plus an
initiation fee of $35. Membership entitles two
adult members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

….... a word from our President
Remember to check out the activities list in this issue. Two weeks ago we had a great time at the
Kingsburg car show and by the time you read this we will have participated in the Clovis rodeo
parade. There is always a big crowd at this event. We get a lot of publicity at this event with
multiple announcers along the parade route.
So far, only two more club events are planned for May and one in June. After that the calendar
looks light with club events. If you have an idea or need help putting on a run, talk to Gary or
another member to help you out. Let's get more runs on the calendar.
Just finishing final details on my two day run to Murphys coming up. For those of you going
please watch your email. You will be receiving additional run information. Should be a fun
relaxing two days. I've tried to make it a little slower paced with plenty of time in the afternoon
to enjoy Murphys.
Guess who? I survived the Corkscrew.
The famous Laguna Seca Turn 8 and 8A combination, popularly referred to as the 'Corkscrew',
is considered one of the motorsport world's most challenging turns, due to the 59 ft drop in
elevation in only 450 feet of track as well as its blind crest and apex on the uphill approach.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT by JULIE SONS
Dang it’s already May so don’t forget your
mother on May 14 th . Also, May 29 th is
Memorial Day so don’t forget to honor all
those who have died while fighting for this
great country we live in.
Spring has sprung and I’m seeing so many
beautiful flowers blooming and the weather
is superb. David & I (and I’m sure many of you) are getting
so excited in anticipation of our July cruise to Alaska. I
am already looking at my cooler weather clothes to take on
the trip. It feels so odd since the weather is getting
warmer. Have a blessed month and stay safe on the roads.
We had a good turnout at the April meeting with 62 members
in attendance and 3 guests.

Our total membership is 95.
Any and all guests are invited to join us at any of our
club sanctioned activities or events. Just be sure to sign

1. What is your favorite food/restaurant? Too many to choose just one, depends on
what type of food we are in the mood for.
2. When did you buy your first Corvette? How many have you owned? This is our first
Corvette and we bought it in July of 2022.
3. Where did you meet each other? How long have you been married? We met on the Cross-
Country team when we were in high school. We have been together for
31yrs. and married for 27 years.
4. How many children/grandchildren do you have? Names? We have 3 children, two boys
and one girl. Their names are Polo-26yrs. old, Marco-23 yrs. old, and
Cielo-21 yrs. old.
5. What line of work do/did you do? Polo is an environmental and safety
coordinator and I’m a teacher.
6. How do you like to spend your free time? Hobbies? We like to travel, camp, hike,
kayak, pretty much anything that takes us outdoors.
7. What is the furthest place you have ever traveled? The furthest place we’ve traveled to
is New York.
8. How did you discover CVC? When? We googled Corvette Clubs sometime in
September and your website popped up. Polo contacted Julie Sons through
email, and the rest is history.
9. What would be your fantasy CVC run or your most memorable run in the past? We have been
on one run which was the Gambler’s Classic. The coordination of the
run, the people we traveled with, and the activities we did was amazing.
I look forward to a run where we drive to the beach or a chance to
travel cross country.
10. Do you have pet(s)? Names? We have 2 dogs and a cat. Female boxer mix
named “Diva,” male Alaskan Husky named “Jasper,” and female cat named
“Jazmin.”

APRIL SUNSHINE & CLOUDS
Skip Garrison was in the house… Whoop-Whoop. So glad to
see him but so wish it was on a sweeter note. We will
be joining him and friends for a memorial of his beloved
Vickie on Tuesday. Vickie was well-loved and will be
dearly missed.
Surgery Update:
Craig Derringer had colon surgery on 4/5 and was in the
hospital for a few days. He looks great and is back to
himself. He was present at our general meeting and was
showing off his new scar. Wow, he bounced back quickly.
Tom Jarvis had heart surgery on 4/12 at the Heart
Hospital and had a complication after surgery (tear in
Aorta). It was hit and miss but he is recovering and
doing better. He will be in the hospital a few more
days.
Keith Collins in having back surgery this week at Cedar
Sinai Hospital down south. Please keep him in your
prayers.
Skip & LeighAnne’s son Steve had rotator cuff surgery on
the 17 th and was home the same day and doing well.
Happy News
Josh & Marina were married on 4/15 in the Bay area.
They will be headed to New Orleans on Friday on their
honeymoon. Guess what their baggage will include?? The
Webb’s! LOL, I would take Jody with me anywhere!
Updates:
Joe & Sarah Garcia re-joined the club as they just
purchased a 2017 beautiful Black Rose GS. Welcome back
to the group.
The Garlock’s received their new C8 and guess what color
it is???? Yes, it has a beautiful signature color…
Orange baby. They are also heading out for the Kyle
Petty Memorial Run on April 26 th . Safe travels to them

Vacation:
Lori Dukes recently returned from what looked like a
wonderful Nashville vacation. She is heading on a
cruise to Bahamas with the Garcia’s and a group of their
dance club.
Gary & Pam will be heading on a Mexico vacation early
May and meeting up with a few friends. No dancing on
the table at Senior Frogs!
Moving ON:
The Fosnaugh’s are completely out of their home they had
for 45 years and moved to Madera to be closer to the
grandkids. Their new casita is being built.
Dale & Sue Comer’s home is on track to be done in July
and will soon be moving to Paso Robles.
Health Update:
Mike Lebda had extreme back pain and he is awaiting test
results from CT scan and scheduled for MRI this week.
Robert Still was admitted to the hospital with a
bacterial infection (Cellulitis) of his lower leg. They
treated him with aggressive antibiotics and is doing
much better.
Baby news:
Debbie Garrison became a great great Aunt on 3/24 when
my great nephew Travis & his wife had a baby boy Lucas
Lee Hemman 6 lb 3 oz born almost 3 weeks early. The
baby spent his first week in the hospital but he’s doing
great now; On April 5 she also became a great Aunt again
when my niece (my best friend’s daughter) had an
emergency C-section and had her baby boy Brixten Patrick
Church who was 3 months early weighing in 3 lb 14 oz
Baby had lungs & heart problems. He is a fighter and
they successfully removed the fluid from his lungs and
now weighs 3 lbs 4 oz. He is off the ventilator &
holding his own. He recognizes his parents’ voices and
is expected to be in the hospital until June.

CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES GENERAL MEETING
MINUTES of April 17, 2023
President Jeff Engelman called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
Secretary Jody Webb –Jeff asked the members to approve the minutes of March
20, 2023 meeting, as printed in the Newsletter. A motion was made to accept the
minutes by LeighAnne Severance and was seconded by David Sons.
VP of Public Relations/Membership – Julie Sons reported that we have 62
members and 3 guests in attendance. Richard Lee, and Nancy Henson, who own a
2003 yellow Stingray were installed as new members and received their badges. It
was noted that ballots to reinstate Joe and Sarah Garcia as members were
circulating this evening. They recently purchased a 2017 C7 Grand Sport (Black
Rose Metallic). She announced April Birthdays and Anniversaries. Congratulations
to our anniversary winners David and Julie Sons.
Treasurer’s Report-Jasmine Luna read the Club’s Treasury Report with an
accounting of the deposits made and checks written for expenses and our current
balance. A copy is attached. Stephanie Engelman sold raffle tickets for the
meeting.
VP of Activities-Gary Linsner- reported on past runs including the Roger Rocka’s
Dinner Theater and the Kingsburg Car Show. Upcoming runs include the Clovis
Rodeo Parade, Murphy’s Gold Country run, Nevada Open Road Challenge
information, the annual CVC Picnic at the Kroeker’s, Vukovich Classic at Madera
Speedway, and an invitation from COF to participate in their Reno/Tahoe event.

Newsletter Update – Newsletters articles, flyers and pictures need to be sent to
Mike Lebda by April 25, 2023.
Old Business – No old business was addressed.
New Business- No new business was addressed.
Sunshine News – Julie reported on the Sunshine and Clouds of the Members, a
full report will be in the newsletter.
Sergeant-of-Arms – Chuck Laningham- collected badge fines.

2023, at 6:30 PM

Next Board Meeting – The next board meeting will be 10:00 AM, April 24, 2023,
at the home of Julie Sons. Please let President Jeff Engelman know if you plan on
attending.
Meeting Adjourned – Jeff called for meeting to be adjourned, Lynne Henenfent
made the motion, and the motion was seconded by LeighAnne Severance. The
meeting was adjourned at 7:16 P.M

The Raffle for the April General Meeting was conducted by Mike Henenfent
The club would like to recognize the prizes were donated by many different
members as they are each month. We would like to thank everyone for their
continued support for the raffle and note that it is a large source of our income
and without the donations we could not have many of the events that we plan
throughout the year.
Congratulations to our $50.00 winners Sue Comer and Stephanie Engelman.

CVC ACTIVITIES - MAY
Well the warm weather is upon us, so we need to find activities that will
take us to cooler places. If you have a favorite place that you retreat to in
the summer to get some relief from the heat, consider inviting your
Corvette friends and make a run out of it. As you can see from the list
below, the months of July and August are slim pickens, so put on your
thinking caps and find a cool place for us to hide for a few hours or days.

Murphy's California Spring Run
Sunday May 7 th to Monday May 8 th
Take a step back in time by visiting Murphys Historic Hotel, one of California’s longest
operating hotels and a historic landmark. Rich in gold rush history, Murphys today is a
vibrant community, alive with art galleries and live theater, eclectic shops, fine
restaurants, and wine tasting.
Call Murphy’s Historic Hotel at 800-532-7684 to book your room for Sunday night, May
7th. I do not have any rooms reserved and group discounts are not available. There were
18 modern rooms available when I announced the run. www.murphyshotel.com
Room prices range from $120 to $156 ($215 for a mini suite) depending on your room
choice. Ask for a modern room unless you want to stay in one of the historic rooms.
Only a few of the historic rooms have a private bathroom. All of the modern rooms have
a private, in room bathroom and private parking. All rooms are NON-SMOKING and
PETS are NOT ALLOWED. If we fill up Murphy's Hotel, there are other options close
by on Main Street.
We will leave from Hwy 99 and Avenue 7 on May 7 th , time to be announced.

We got our car out from under the

We love our new ride and we thank all
who came and enjoyed the beautiful
weather and nice drive down to
Kingsburg with us. We had 34 people
Wo came and enjoyed Mexican food lunch
at our sister-in-law’s restaurant and many
