know a little about the message for the weekend. Want to stay in touch with us
via text? All you have to do is text the word CONNECT to (724) 246-6816.
THIS WEEKEND’S SCRIPTURE: PHILIPPIANS 2:1-11
The Christ Hymn has been referred to as something all of us should aspire to
as people who follow Jesus - and rightly so. But when you look a little closer
at it, Paul is saying the attitudes depicted in the hymn are the attitudes that
are to govern “RELATIONSHIPS:” “In your relationships with one another, have
the same mindset as Christ Jesus...” he says in verse 5. Of course Paul is writing
to the CHURCH at Philippi, so he is talking about the relationships among the
church members - plenty of bridges can be built between First Church Philippi
and First Church Butler -. But I think Paul would widen that application to
all relationships if he were asked: “your relationships with one another” could
easily apply to any relationship we find ourselves in. The more places our living
mirrors that of Christ, the more present and visible his kingdom will be on earth
as it is in heaven.
