Fathers Day for fatherless Reading boys
STAY on Sunday
St Andrew's Youth
Our fortnightly faith growing group called STAY on
Sunday continues to be popular and is helping to
deepen the faith of the young people who attend. We
continued with the parables of Jesus and have recently
looked at ‘The Good Samaritan’ and ‘Humility —
where to sit at a wedding feast’.
STAY on Monday
With only a few weeks to go until the 100km in 24 hours walk on June
17-18, the lads and I have been out on several practice walks. We are each
raising £2,000 for Chapter 2, a charity who work with fatherless boys across
Reading. Growing up without a father figure means they are statistically
more likely to be involved in gangs, more likely to truant from school, more
likely to become addicted to drugs and alcohol, and more likely to end up in
prison. We are hoping to change their future by providing positive male role
models through mentors and ongoing support. If you would like to sponsor
these three intrepid walkers go to:
We have also kept meeting in the young people's homes for our fortnightly STAY on Monday group. We’ve enjoyed being outside more
with the warmer evenings and the young people loved the garden based scavenger hunt and team building games.
