Presenters and Clinicians Sarah J. Alexander, NCTM Leroy Anderson: America’s Tune-Smith Sunday, 9:30 AM in Maverick Sarah Alexander holds a Master of Music degree in Piano Pedagogy from TCU. She maintains a private piano studio and accompanies in the DFW metroplex. She is also an active lecturer, co-presenting at the MTNA National Convention, as well as for local associations. Ron Brand Worship Service Sunday, 9:30 AM in Innovation A Born in 1940 in Los Angeles, Ron Brand graduated from North Hollywood High School and signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1957. He was sold to the Houston Astros in 1964 and to the Montreal Expos in 1968. He is presently a major league scout with the New York Yankees and is married with eight children and nineteen grandchildren. Edward Jason Brown The Composer in All of Us: Enriching Your Music Studio Through Incorporating Music Composition Sunday, 2 PM in Enterprise 7-8 Edward Brown is the founder of the Fort Worth Contemporary Music Fund. They organize an annual Young Composers’ Camp for nurturing student composition in the DFW area. He is an active lecturer and professional educator. Ann Conolly Music Teachers Are Often the First to Know: Learning Challenges and the Music Lesson Saturday, 9:30 AM in Maverick Ann Conolly’s experience includes a private practice working with dyslexic children and being a special education and classroom teacher. She has certifications as a Dyslexia Specialist and a Learning Disabilities Specialist. Lori G. Cook A Cognitive Crescendo: Music and the Brain Sunday, 11 AM in Enterprise 7-8 Dr. Lori Cook oversees the pediatric brain injury research programs at the Center for BrainHealth of the University of Texas at Dallas. She earned her Master’s and Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from UT Dallas, as well as a B.S. in Communication Disorders and a B.A. in Music from TCU. Dr. Cook is a classically-trained soprano. As a research scientist, her interest in cognitive neuroscience has fostered a continued fascination with the effects of music on brain function. Courtney Crappell, NCTM Using a Sound Approach by Creating Effective Practice Recordings Saturday, 11 AM in Maverick Dr. Courtney Crappell serves as Assistant Professor of Piano Pedagogy at the University of Texas at San Antonio where he coordinates the class piano program and teaches piano and piano pedagogy. Scott Donald, NCTM Conference of Texas Collegiate Chapters Sunday, 12:30 PM in Filmmakers Closing General Session - New College Faculty Recital Sunday, 5 PM in Enterprise 7-8 Dr. Scott Donald is on the piano faculty at the Orpheus Academy of Music in Austin and at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is the former Administrative Director for the New School for Music Study in Kingston, New Jersey and is also on faculty at the Interlochen Arts Camp. Bonnie Dove The Composer in All of Us: Enriching Your Music Studio Through Incorporating Music Composition Sunday, 2 PM in Enterprise 7-8 Bonnie Dove is an active TMTA member. Former president of Arlington Music Teachers Association and regular guest speaker in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, her students regularly place in the TMTA and MTNA composition contests. Richard Dowling Gershwin and Gottschalk Galore! Saturday, 3:30 PM in Enterprise 7-8 National Winner of the 1985 MTNA Young Artist Competition, Richard Dowling enjoys a multi-faceted career as pianist, recording artist, editor, and entrepreneur. He is co-owner of Dowling Music in New York (at Steinway Hall) and Houston. Richard Fountain, NCTM Fingering for Success with C.P.E. Bach Sunday, 11 AM in Maverick Dr. Richard Fountain is Assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. An accomplished solo and collaborative pianist, Fountain is also the principal keyboardist for the Lubbock and Lincoln Symphony Orchestras. FUN FACT! Over 75 pianos were brought in for Convention! 9
