PROCEDURES IMPORTANT: Never adjust the setting of the engine and/or hydraulic components. MAINTENANCE Learn how to service your machine correctly. Follow the correct maintenance and inspection procedures shown in this manual. Inspect machine daily before starting. • Check controls and instruments. • Check coolant, fuel and oil levels • Check for leaks, kinked, frayed or damaged hoses and lines. • Walk around machine checking general appearance, noise, heat, etc. • Check for loose or missing parts. If there is any problem with your machine, repair it before operating or contact your authorized dealer. IMPORTANT: • Use only recommended fuel and lubricants. • Use only genuine HITACHI parts. Failure to do so may result in serious injury or death and/or machine breakdown. • Failure to use recommended fuel, lubricants, and genuine Hitachi parts will result in loss of Hitachi product warranty. • Never adjust engine or hydraulic system relief valve. • Protect electrical parts from water and steam. • Never disassemble electrical components such as sensors, etc. 7-2 SA-435
PREPARE MACHINE FOR INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE MAINTENANCE Before performing inspection/maintenance of the machine, park the machine as described below unless otherwise specified. 1. Park the machine on a solid level surface. 2. Lower the working tools such as the bucket and/or blade to the ground. 3. Turn the auto-idle switch OFF. 4. Run the engine at slow idle speed without load for approx. 5 minutes to cool down the engine. 5. Turn the key switch OFF. Remove the key from the switch. If inspection/maintenance must be performed with the engine running, be sure to place a lookout to prevent the machine from being operated mistakenly by other personnel. 6. Be sure to place pilot control shut-off lever (1) in the LOCK position. 7. Attach an “UNDER INSPECTION/MAINTENANCE” tag to an easy-to-see place such as the cab door or one of the control levers. 7-3 1 M1M7-05-024 M1M0-03-001
