Heart and Cross Award

Heart and Cross Award Annually the Board of Directors of Cardinal Ritter Senior Services selects a partner in the ministry of caring for senior adults as the recipient of the agency’s Heart and Cross award. In past years the CRSS Board selected businesses, agencies, families, funding organizations and individuals as recipients of this special award. This year the CRSS Board selected Bernard C. Huger, attorney at law, to receive the award. Mr. Huger is manager of the Education, Religious and Tax Exempt Organization Practice Group at Greensfelder, Hemker and Gale. His work with Cardinal Ritter Senior Services has always honored our special niche of serving the poor, frail senior adult. He has helped with projects in all arenas of senior adult care. His creativity, responsiveness and focus on serving the senior adult with dignity and respect has made him an excellent and supportive partner of CRSS and this year’s recipient of the CRSS Heart and Cross Award. Dutch Auction The Dutch Auction is the opportunity for each of us to touch the life of a senior adult in CRSS’s care. Fill out the card at your table for the level for which you are choosing to support a senior adult. When the auctioneer reaches that level, hold up your card and a runner will come by your table to pick it up. Thank you on behalf of the senior adults your donation directly benefits! Level 1: $100 Food pantries are out of food and supplies more quickly due to so many in the St. Louis community needing assistance. $100 would help our seniors living in the community purchase basic food items this winter. Level 2: $250 Medical co pays for doctors, clinics and outpatient facilities as well as prescription co pays are having a huge effect on senior adults not able to provide for their own health needs. A gift of $250 will help these senior adults get medical treatments and medications. Level 3: $500 The price of gas and electric escalating finds a large number of senior adults living at home unable to keep their utilities turned on even for short periods of time. $500 would help these seniors get through most of the winter. 7
