On Sunday, the 21st. I thought I'd try one as due to age, my hearing has diminished and some of the voice sounds are muddled to me. I find I miss part of the homilies as well as the final announcements and it frustrates me. I continually have to ask friends what was said. That Sunday, I tried a hearing assist device, learned how to ‘turn it off and on’ and ‘adjust the volume’, all on the same control...and that's it! A little green light signals it being on or off. The sermon was perfectly clear as were the final announcements and even the choir was enhanced. The unit is only activated by the mikes and does not pick up other church noises such as coughs, or other normal extra crowd noises. I will attempt to use one of these devices every time I attend Mass. You do not have to wear it while waiting in line for communion as the receiver just gently hangs from the top of one's ear lobe, no plug in or other antiseptic concern as nothing enters the ear canal. Try one! Ask the ushers for one as they are located in the Ushers Room just off to the left as you enter the main entrance. Enjoy! If someone would want to learn more about the little units please feel free to call me. (Norm Pregler, 766-0573) Widow’s Luncheon Monday, November 12 - 11:30 a.m. Red Ox, 2318 S. From the Desk of Fr. Andy Dear St. Paul Family, This week, Tuesday, November 6 th is our next Senior Gathering. Come join other seniors from St. Paul Parish to hear Julianne Donlon- Stanz talk about Irish Spirituality and some of her heritage having grown up in Ireland. Julianne is a very dynamic speaker and very much loved by all who come to hear her speak. We will gather for Mass at 11:00am followed by lunch and a talk by Julianne. Please call Deacon George by Monday so he knows how much food to prepare. November is the Month of All Souls. This weekend at the end of the 4:00pm Mass, and throughout the month of November we remember in a very special way all who have died from St. Paul Parish this past year. We also remember all of our loved ones who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. Requesting Mass intentions is always a good way to remember and pray for those who have died. Though we are very limited on the number of Mass intentions available for the remaining of this year at St. Paul, you can request a Mass intention for next year. We also have many retired priests in our diocese who are looking for Mass intentions, so if you would like to make a request for a Mass intention and would like to have that intention offered by one of our retired priests in the diocese you can do that too. Just bring your request along with the usual $10.00 stipend and we will make sure it gets sent on to one of our retired priests. Have a Wonderful Week! Blessings, Fr.
