Blue flag: This flag
indicates that a faster
Red flag: This flag
penalties for rule infractions.

THEY ARE CONCERNED FOR YOUR
SAFETY.
Motocross is a physically demanding sport that requires a combination
of skill, strength, and technique. Here are some techniques that
motocross riders may use to improve their performance on the track:
Body positioning: Riders need to maintain a proper body position while
riding, including a slight forward lean, keeping weight over the front
wheel, and keeping the elbows up to absorb the impact of jumps and
obstacles.
Cornering: Riders need to master the art of cornering, which involves
leaning the bike into the turn, keeping the inside foot peg down, and
using the throttle to power out of the turn.
Jumping: Riders need to master the technique of jumping, which
involves timing the jump, keeping the bike level, and landing smoothly.
Whipping: This technique allows riders to make the bike spin 180
degrees in the air and land facing the opposite direction.
Power sliding: This technique allows riders to maintain speed while
cornering by sliding the rear wheel.
Ruts: Riders need to learn how to ride in ruts, which are deep grooves
in the track created by the tires of previous riders. This technique
involves using the ruts to maintain traction and control while cornering.
Line choice: Riders need to learn how to choose the best line on the
track, which is the path that allows them to maintain the most speed and
avoid obstacles.
Fitness: Motocross is a physically demanding sport that requires a high
level of fitness and endurance. Riders need to maintain a regular
training regimen that includes cardio, strength training, and stretching.

TEAM RACE REPORT
Podium for Harri at Blaxhall
Harri Kullas came into round four of the Revo ACU British Motocross Championship as series leader,
with a 3 point cushion. Round four was being held at the awesome Suffolk circuit of Blaxhall.
Harri qualified well in third place, then flew out of the gate on his Yamaha YZ450F to a clear
holeshot, leading early on. Harri was passed by Josh Gilbert and then Conrad Mewse and then held
down a comfortable third place at the finish.
Another text book start for Harri in race two, but Conrad Mewse went past on lap one, followed soon
by Josh Gilbert, and Harri held down third place until the finish, for third overall.
Harri Kullas - ”Overall a decent day. We’ve done lots of work lately and have a good set up, but
today 3rd was the best I could do. I had two holeshots, but rode tight and had some arm pump. Not a
great day but also not disappointed as I’m still right in the championship”
Carpenter goes top ten at Blaxhall
Jamie Carpenter continued his Revo ACU British MX championship at Blaxhall, Suffolk, for round four,
coming into the series in 11th place, following a no score at round three.
Again Jamie put in an excellent qualifying time to finish 5th, and then made his good gate choice pay,
starting in 6th place on lap one. Jamie made a comfortable gap for himself from Ashton Dickinson, but
could never quite close the gap to 5th, and finished in a very good 6th place.
Jamie didn’t start so well in race two and was well outside the top 15, but put in a sterling performance
to pick off riders, and move to 10th place with a few laps to go, but couldn’t make any more ground up
and finished 10th for 8th overall on the day.
Day to forget for Sam at Blaxhall
Sam Nunn was looking to build on some good speed and results of late, at Blaxhall for round four of
the Revo ACU British Championship.
A struggle in qualifying saw Sam 17th fastest, so he chose a risky inside gate that paid off, as Sam
was 4th on lap one. He edged away from 5th place and pulled a gap, until at half race distance a
mechanical issues forced him out of the race. A heart-breaking end to what was looking like a great
race.
Sadly another mechanical gremlin surface on the sighting lap of race two for our MX2 pilot and he
was unable to start the race.
An incredibly tough day, but Sam is fit and healthy and showed he has top 5 speed in race one.

EAM RACE REPORT
Perfect day for Mewse and Crendon Fastrack Honda
Conrad Mewse took a clean sweep in the ACU British motocross championship at Blaxhall on Sunday, setting
the fastest time in qualifying, winning both motos and taking the red plate as championship leader. Mewse,
who also holds the red plate in the MX Nationals series, was chased home both times by team-mate Josh
Gilbert who took second overall. It also continues the incredible 100% record of the duo being on the podium
at every single national event they have raced this season.
Mewse arrived at the sandy Suffolk track
second in the series, three points behind
leader Harri Kullas, with Gilbert just five points
back. But 23-year-old Mewse was still without
a race win in the premier UK series.
He quickly made amends in the opener as he
was fourth on the opening lap, then quickly
came through to second place behind Gilbert
who had taken the lead after passing holeshot
man Kullas and Evgeny Bobryshev. Mewse
chased his team-mate which had the large
crowd captivated and cheering on their
favourite. As the two Honda CRF450Rs left
their rivals behind, Mewse managed to get by
Gilbert to take the lead. Gilbert tried all he
could to get back in front but Mewse held on
to the flag. Kullas was third, 17 seconds
behind the winner. It meant Mewse led the
series for the first time.
In the second race, it was even more decisive for Mewse as he passed the erly leader Kullas on the opening
lap and then set an incredible pace at the front. Gilbert took a lap to get into second place and set off in a bid
to put pressure on his team-mate, setting even faster lap times. But by lap five, Mewse somehow upped the
pace to ease away to a decent buffer at the front. Gilbert, who set the fastest lap of the race more than three
seconds quicker than Kullas behind him, brought the Honda home for a fine second place to take second
overall. It was a day of complete dominance for the Crendon Fastrack Honda team.

TEAM RACE REPORT
Team moves in the right direction.
Team Chambers set off to the
sunny parts of Blaxhall, Norfolk for
the 5th round of the Revo British
Championship. One of the
Favourite tracks for the team, All
was looking to have a good
weekend of racing.The MX1
qualification started early doors,
With the riders taking to the track
first.
The circuit had been well
prepared, as always by the
Woodbridge team.
With timed qualifying underway,
From 4th to 15th there was only a
3-second difference between
riders, Tom finished the session
P13 with Dan just behind in P14.
MX2 qualifying, with timings like
that of MX1 only a few seconds off
the top 4-15 riders. Glenn crossed
the line with P14, Ben P16 &
Harvey P24.
Onto the racing and MX1 first
race. Tom had a great jump out
the gate, Which found himself in
the top 6 coming out of the first
corner. He was looking to get
settled in and get to work but an
unfortunate come to with another
rider see Tom fall into the back
of the pack.
He managed to gain places
throughout the race and finished up
P15. Dan Didn’t have the best of
starts and is still riding with an
ongoing hand/wrist injury. He put
his head down and showed really
good speed, To cross the flag with
P18.
MX2 race 1 was an eventful one,
First gate drop see only half drop.
The RHL team where unable to fix it
in time so they reverted to the oldfashioned
drop flag start.
Glenn & Ben both seemed to get a
great jump and both come around
the first corner in the top 12! Glenn
had himself into P5 early on but got
caught later on in the race to finish
in a respectable P10 despite him
also having an ongoing knee injury.
Ben’s first Britsh race back at
Blaxhall since his unfortunate
horrible leg break 2 years ago
there. Putting that to the back of his
mind he rode a really good race.
Coming across the line in P12.
Harvey Meanwhile was showing
how much he had learned since
stepping up to the MX2 class,
Having some brilliant battles to
finish in P25.
Race 2 for MX1, thankfully the gate
issue seemed to be resolved, With
both Dan and Tom having a
blinding start within the top 10! Dan
showed the speed and ability he
has to be within the top 10. Over
the course of the Moto and the
ever-getting rougher track, Tom
passed Dan to have a much better
race than Moto 1 and got himself a
P9 at the line. Dan had an
awesome strong race from start to
finish and ended the weekend with
a P11, His best result so far.
MX2 Race, the dreaded start gate
issue became an issue again. After
2 failed starts and red flags they
finally got underway. Ben & Glenn
found themselves within the top 10,
with Harvey also having a brilliant
start. For the remainder of the race,
Ben and Glenn would find
themselves battling it out for P9 &
P10 switching back and forwards
between the places. Ben just Piping
Glenn in this race to finish P9 and
Glenn P10.
Harvey had his best result in MX2
so far and finished in P21.

TEAM RACE REPORT
Consistency pays off for Tru7
Honda Racing Academy riders
Determined riding on a roughening track saw points
scoring rides for both Charlie Heyman and Callum
Green in the ACU British championship round at
Blaxhall on Sunday. Heyman hauled a solid 25
points for eighth overall in the MX2 class to move
up to 11th in the series, just one point outside the
top ten. And in the super-competitive MX1 class,
Green got back into points scoring with an 18th
place on his Honda CRF450R.
The MX2 class was blighted by a string of restarts for a damaged start gate, jumped start and red flags so
injured riders could be seen to. For the two motos, there were a total of seven start attempts which added a
lot of time and frustration. Heyman, fourth in qualifying, went down in the very first start, which was then restarted
as the start gate had a mechanical fault. It was then a flag start which was called back after a rider
jumped the start, then finally the race got underway. The Honda CRF250R rider didn’t get the greatest jump
and was in a disappointing 19th at the end of the first lap. But he rode incredibly well and pulled through to a
creditable ninth place after some fast and aggressive riding to get through slower traffic. The second race
was also re-started twice, but Heyman was determined to go one better. He tagged into the leading group
from the very first lap, being as high as sixth place. As the more experienced men jockeyed for position, the
17-year-old mixed it with the riders in front and brought the Tru7 Honda Racing Academy machine home in
eight place, good enough for eighth overall
In the MX1 class, Callum Green continues to
get back into the highest level of UK racing
despite only contesting a handful of races in
the past few seasons due to injuries. In the
first moto he was 27th at the end of the first
lap but worked hard to get up as high as
17th spot as they pack entered lap four. But
the pace took its toll, and he took 22nd
place.
In the second moto he was outside of the
points-paying top 20 on the first lap but kept
on pushing hard despite a front puncture
slowing his charge. But his reward for
perseverance was an 18thplace and three
championship points.

TEAM RACE REPORT
Round 4 of the Revo British Motocross Championship was held at the prestigious Blaxhall motocross track
close to Woodbridge in Suffolk. After setting up early on Saturday, the team settled and prepared for
Sunday’s action.
Martin Barr was again the representative for our team and sponsors as 433 Jack Lindsay recovers from a
double break in his leg. It was an early start for the media team who attended RHL’s media briefing before
the event got underway. With the bikes already prepared well in advance, after all the setup was complete
it was time to prepare for free practice.
As practice started, Martin was involved in a crash on his out lap along with several other riders due to
track conditions which resulted with a chest injury in the incident, the session was stopped to attend to a
rider who needed medical attention. Martin was in pain plus difficulties with his breathing, though still went
out in the restarted practice/qualifying and managed 2 hot laps pushing through the pain to go 6th fastest
in MX1.
Race 1, Martin did not make the best start, though
he had a good first lap and made a few passes
digging deep to push early before the pain set in.
He managed to maintain a good pace and finish
10th at the flag, which was fantastic as there was
some deliberation between Martin and the team
owners as to whether he was going to compete on
the day.
Martin finished the day with 18 points in MX1 for
13th Overall. Martin now sits in 12th position in the
Revo British Motocross Championship, with 14
points separating him from 4th place in the table.
Race 2, Martin knew he had it all to do. He needed
to make sure he got the start to give himself a
chance of securing a good overall finish position.
With that said, by his own admission, Martin made
his best start of the season firing his Apico
Husqvarna inside the top 5, Due to the ferocity of
the pack at the front, Martin decided to back off as
it was important to finish as high up the field as he
could and get points on the board. Martin settled
into 10th position early, though as the race wore
on and the pain intensified, he managed to do his
best to defend to 14th at the end.

EAM RACE REPORT
GRT Impact KTM headed to Blaxhall in East Suffolk for the Revo British Championship last weekend.
With the weather on our side in the UK, it set out to be a great day full of spectators, and some great
racing too. Two riders under the awning this weekend in the form of; Blake Ward-Clarke on the 85cc Big
Wheel machine, and Joe Brookes, a rookie in the Pro MX2 class.
The morning started well for both riders as they headed out on track for Practice and Timed Qualifying.
Blake out first, he managed to claim 7th gate pick, putting down a fast lap in the early stages of the
session. Brookes secured 12th place amongst a stacked field of MX2 riders, also setting the time later in
the session as the track broke down.
In Moto 1, Blake got out the gate well, putting himself within the top 10. He worked hard all race to solidify
his position, despite many battles he faced amongst multiple riders. A solid race, bringing it home in 7th
position.
Moto 1 looked a little different than usual for Joe Brookes, after a mechanical issues with the start gates
forced the riders to start under a flag start. Brookes didn’t let it phase him as he got out the gate well,
sitting within the top 12. After setting lap times well within the top 10, Joe struggled with the aggression of
the class, and couldn’t find a way to push forwards. A small crash after the midpoint of the race gave him
even more work to do, and he managed to make it to the line in 19th - still collecting some points.
In Moto 2, Blake Ward-Clarke saw himself inside the top 10 out the gate once again. He battled hard
around 6/7th position for the first few laps, until he took an unfortunate crash, landing on his back. Due to
the nature of the injury, the race was forced to stop, meaning Blake wasn’t able to finish. He eventually
got up after the initial shock, and is okay after the crash. He will return next weekend.
Moto 2 for Brookes was frustrating once again with another issue with the start gates. Joe’s gate didn’t
drop for the first two starts, causing re-starts both times. The race finally got underway after the third
restart, and after all the start gate confusion, it was no surprise it was difficult to get into the racing for
Brookes. He found himself just inside the top 20 to begin with, and pushed through until the end of the
race to come home in 15th. The results not reflecting Joe’s speed today, after things not going his way.
He’ll regroup and go racing again next weekend.
Next weekend, Joe and Blake with both head to a new, incredible looking track in Methyr Tydfil, Wales.
‘Monster Mountain’ will be Round 2 of the Michelin MX Nationals.

Without wanting to sound like a total hippy, I want to share the love
of the sport! To tell the story of the people behind the headgear and
stick up for the modern game which seems to get so much abuse
from old school fans. As a commentator I want to share the
excitement of any race, to identify the riders correctly, their teams
and sponsors, and to give a bit of character to them to viewers who
are just seeing crash helmets and riding styles. Despite every
machine having the same controls for hands and feet, no two riders
have the same riding style, and I find that incredible. I’m also a bit
of a freak in that I love working out the points for overall results and
championships – this is what everyone races for after all! Some
riders never get the credit their results deserve, and others get too
much hype when their results don’t justify that. I like to make sure
that anyone watching knows who is achieving the results,
rewarding the hard work of those doing so. As a writer for a
motocross website –– I love comparing the statistics of riders from
today against years gone by. Sharing the stories behind it all and
generally my obsession with bike racing, but specifically Motocross,
is really what my life is all about right now.
In your opinion, what are some of the biggest challenges facing the sport of Motocross today, and how do
you plan to address them in your role as an ambassador?
I wouldn’t call myself an ambassador just yet, more an enthusiast who wants to share the passion for it! This country
has, for some reason, fallen away off-road motorcycling as a mainstream sport since it was on TV in the 1960s.
Recently RHL have put out features on National BBC News before British Championship events, which is wonderful
to see because it is such an awesome sport for viewers. I was at an agricultural show a few years ago, and people
were gasping at the Freestyle MX show, even before they started throwing their tricks. People near me were talking
in amazement at how high they go, and this is the sort of jump we see a dozen times per lap on a typical modern
racetrack! When you can get so close to the action, and to the stars, in comparison to road racing, and it has the
aerial spectacle as part of it, why are we not seeing more of the public at races? To address it, social media is now
such a powerful tool. That’s why we do the track walk before British Championship rounds because I love walking
the dirt, feeling the terrain and the topography, so I want my enthusiasm to blast out of people’s devices and get
them thinking “hey, that looks like a fun place to spend our Sunday!”. We must get this amazing sport out there! It’s
dangerous, and people tend to focus on that, rather than the sheer enjoyment it brings. It’s such a tragedy because
there really is no way to have more fun if you’re keeping your boots on…
Photo: Action Sport Photography
RHL grabbed me when I had just started doing
trackside commentary at local races in 2021. My
fiancée kept saying when we watched MotoGP or
MXGP, “the commentators keep saying what
you’ve just said!” so I had a go, really enjoyed it,
then got referred when Gareth was looking for
someone. I’ve known Gareth since I raced in the
Welsh AMCA Group in the 1990s. He always puts
on great events, and I love being part of it, giving it
a voice. I’m about to cover an MXGP race, the
Indonesian round, for Eurosport, so I’ll get a
chance to inject my own level of enthusiasm for
modern Motocross into that – I can’t wait! I’m also
going to do the Weston Beach Race for the first
time this year, which is the biggest off road
motorsport event in the UK and has a great turnout
of “general public” casual fans, and I seriously want
to promote the sport to them as part of that
commentary as well.

What initiatives or programs have you been involved in as an ambassador for motocross, and what impact
have they had?
As it’s my first year in the industry full-time, not a great many. Part of my work is a weekly podcast, and we do a
specific “Great British Motocross Show”, so that fans of the sport can get to know the riders at National level, just to
help build fanbases and again, show the character of these great riders.
How do you engage with fans and enthusiasts
of motocross, and what do you hope to
accomplish through your interactions with
them?
Social media is a great way to interact with other
fans, although I need to make sure I employ the
same “swear filter” that I have in place for the
commentary! One thing I find frustrating is this
“Better in my day” vibe that you find a lot online.
Someone the other week said the riders of today
have no passion! I nearly got banned from that
group because they could not be more wrong, and
I said so! People today have so many distractions
or other attractions that could stop them coming to
a muddy field to either watch or compete, so
modern riders sacrifice so much to get good at
this. They’re the ones who didn’t play computer
games with their mates because they went
practising on a school night. I know from
experience that it’s not easy to do that. And
compared to other sports the financial gains are
not massive. People have their opinions on the
tracks and the preparation and of course modern
machines but leave the riders out of it. You must
devote your life to Motocross, and these guys are
doing that for the love of it.
Did you ever ride? If so what are your best achievements/ favourite
memories etc.
I raced from the age of 12 – right after Namur! – to the age of 40, with a few
years off in between where I couldn’t afford a bike. Dad did road racing, but I
got too big to consider that, being 6 ft 5 when I was 17! I raced AMCA
Championships in 1999 with a best result of 6th, here at Hawkstone Park!
That was a good day, but I also realised that I would never be as good as my
uncle, which was tough to take at the age of 21. Three standout races –
racing in The Netherlands as a 14-year-old, proper Dutch sand, just found an
entry form and did it all. Stunning! Then I beat local hero Steve Liddington in
an AMCA race, sweetest pass of my life because he always had the big
camper, loads of money. I like Steve now, but I hated him then! And yeah,
finally, Weston Beach Race, got top 100 three times and was only a lap down
on Mark Hucklebridge after an hour in 1998 when the bike blew! Gutted but I
felt so good before that! Just finishing the Beach Race is an amazing feeling.
It's massive for me to be involved in this series, to be amongst the best in the
nation and call the races, chat to the riders, it’s crazy. And to work on MXGP
next week for Eurosport, that’s wild as well. I just want to do all I can to move
the sport forward because it’s still as awesome as ever, it deserves much
more exposure than it gets and if I can help to improve that situation, then the
happier I’ll be. More recently, the buzz at the last British round of 2021, only
my third commentary for this series, was amazing, then I had to do the
podium! I was quaking in my boots talking to Evgeny Bobryshev and Tommy
Searle for the first time, but it was such an honour to do so. It still is.
What advice would you give to someone who is
interested in becoming involved in the sport of
motocross?
Do it! It is the best fun you can have with your boots on!
Obviously, I’m biased, but it turned me from a real
problem child, angry at everything, into an A-Grade GCSE
student, because it took my aggression away as a
teenager. It gives you an escape that no holiday can give
you. But do it safely and legally. Find a practice track, or a
try-out day, and give it a go. It’s a bug, a highly
contagious one that you’ll be thankful you caught!
What do you believe is the most important factor in
the growth and success of motocross as a sport?
Supporting it legally. Support the organisers, support the
industry, support that local dealer. If we can shake that
“blasting a stolen bike round a playing field” image that a
lot of British people have of Motocross and present it as
the professional sport that it is, we’ve got much more
chance of attracting kids and their parents towards
catching this bug we all have.
