This year, we celebrate our 28 th anniversary as an independent 

and family-owned supplier of lenses to the optical market.

Millmead Optical Group combines nearly 80 years of industry 

experience across eyewear, accessories and lenses. 

Jai Kudo Lenses was established in 1996. We are an international supplier of 

stock and surfaced ophthalmic lenses. With numerous Jai Kudo Lenses manufacturing 

partners, we can provide a diverse selection of surfaced and stock lenses with over 

two million currently in stock. 

In the last year, we've dedicated substantial resources to Jai Kudo Lenses, acquiring 

three MEI glazing machines. These machines enhance glazing precision, efficiency, 

and contribute to our commitment to sustainable practices. 

Jai Kudo Lenses is always looking at new ways to incorporate technology both into production 

and dispensing. KUDOS ® , our new personalised progressive, is produced from scratch, using 

virtual reality and intelligent software. Patients are now able to experience exactly how a 

progressive feels, in a immersive experience like no other. This means the 

wearer adapts faster to progressives, reducing practice non tols. The dispensing process 

incorporates the very latest software on an Apple iPad, to capture the required personalised 

measurements, making dispensing lenses easy and accurate. 

Jai Kudo Lenses was established in 1996 and became part of 

Millmead Optical Group in 2016. Whilst the last few years have placed 

considerable challenges on many small businesses, we have worked 

tirelessly to provide our customers with a wide range of competitivelypriced 

stock and surfaced ophthalmic lenses. This, combined with our 

commitment to superior product knowledge and exceptional customer 

service has seen Millmead Optical Group garner acclaim from an evergrowing 

community of private practice opticians.

department, equipped with cutting-edge edging machines. 

OUR SERVICES 

We have our own stock of frames from brands within the Millmead 

Optical Group and skilled staff capable of glazing even the most 

challenging frames and lens powers.

Alternatively, we can accept a trace file from your existing machine. 

This allows Jai Kudo Lenses to process your trace file for full rim, 

supra and rimless orders.

When you have a patient with a high combination of spherical 

and cylindrical powers, it is best to send the entire job to our glazing 

team to glaze.

In addition, there are certain frame types that are not always suitable 

for tracing through remote edgers. These can include: double rim 

frames, inline supra frames, shallow frames with a depth of less than 

22mm and frames with a high degree of wrap angle.

part of a 4.8 acre optical business site. The group also has offices in 

Germany and Hong Kong. We currently supply lenses to Europe, 

Africa and the Asian subcontinent but we have the ability to distribute 

to all continents. 

Our primary goal is to offer an exceptional product range combined 

with unrivalled value for money to the independent optician, allowing 

us to partner with practitioners to develop their in-practice lens 

technology and increase their business profitability. We have over two 

million lenses in stock. 

Combined with rapid stock lens delivery, Jai Kudo Lenses enables our 

customers to offer an efficient service to their loyal patient base, 

supported by a simple online ordering portal. 

Jai Kudo Lenses offers an extensive progressive and lifestyle lens 

collection, with the exciting addition of KUDOS ® launching in 2024. 

KUDOS ® offers the ultimate personalised progressive using virtual 

reality to create a bespoke lens for a patient. 

For frames that are difficult to trace, or for orders where you require 

powers outside of +/-6.00 sphere and over -3 cyls, we strongly 

advise you send the frame and lens order to our onsite glazing team. 

HINTS & TIPS 

We recommend that you perform weekly 

calibrations on your tracer, keep the needle clean and 

ensure the rim of the frame is cleaned before every 

trace is carried out. 

Always ensure that your tracer is free from debris and 

every frame is visually inspected for rim defects.

UNCUT LENSES ORDERING 

We recommend using our online ordering platform. If you do not 

have access to this please get in touch with our customer care team 

or your Business Development Manager. 

You can order all uncut lenses online. If you order uncut stock 

lenses only, you can use the dedicated stock ordering platform 

which provides live stock levels and alternative choices so that 

every order can be fulfilled. 

GLAZED PACKAGE ORDERING 

Jai Kudo Lenses, in association with Continental Eyewear are proud 

to offer a Glazed Package. 

Our Glazed Package offers a wide range of lens options and 

coatings including: Infinity XT, Hydro+, Honeycomb and Blue Shield. 

The Glazed Package offers the full Jai Kudo Lenses lens portfolio 

CHANGING AN ORDER 

Please note that all Jai Kudo surfaced lens orders, go into 

production as soon as the order transmits to us. Please ensure that 

if you need to amend an order, you call customer care 

within 1 hour of placing your lens order in practice. 

Any amendments after 1 hour, may incur additional charges, 

dependant upon the following factors. 

• Lens type – stock or surfaced. 

• When the order was placed, (if the order was raised 

over the weekend, we may be able to amend 

this on the Monday)

amend an order so that you are not charged twice.

STOCK FINISHED 

Use the online ordering “Stock Finished” option 

from the website. This is to order bulk or 

replenishment stock uncut lenses. When ordering 

using this method you need state the uncut size 

required. 

This platform provides live stock levels and alternatives if a lens is out of 

stock. It is a quick replenishment way to order uncut lenses for you to 

glaze within your business. 

We can glaze and fit your lenses for you, or we can cut the lenses for you to fit. 

UNCUT LENSES 

ONLINE ORDERING 

SURFACED RX 

Use the online ordering “Surfaced RX” option from the 

website. This option can be used for both surfaced and 

stock lenses. You must select the uncut lenses only option. 

This method allows you to order uncut lenses based on ABD measurements, RX 

(prescription details), mono PD's and vertical heights if necessary. Select from 

one of eight frame shapes that best matches your patients frame, or simply 

select the uncut lens you need. This information is used to calculate the best 

uncut lens diameter. 

Uncut lenses can be ordered using this method for stock single vision 

surfaced Lenses including bifocals, progressives etc

GLAZING & FITTING 

Our team can precisely cut your lenses and expertly 

fit them into your frame. 

To ensure a fast and efficient process, please provide us with your patients (PX) 

prescription, including RX (prescription details), mono PD’s, vertical heights, and 

lens type ABD measurements. Additionally, please select one of the eight available 

shapes that best matches your chosen frame. This selection will help us calculate the 

required blank for your lenses ensuring the best possible aesthetics for your patient. 

By following this method, we can promptly place your lens order and initiate 

production without delay. To proceed, securely package your PX frame along with its 

case. Please make sure to clearly label the frame with your account number and PX 

order number for easy identification. Once received the frame is married up with your 

patients lenses. 

GLAZING ONLY 

Jai Kudo Lenses offers a lens glazing service from 

the trace file you provide, and will return the lenses 

to you for fitting. 

To ensure optimal performance, it is important to regularly calibrate your tracer 

and keep it clean, ensuring the needle is free from debris. Please make sure 

to place the frame correctly in the tracer. It is your responsibility to ensure the 

accuracy of the trace file. You can conveniently upload your trace file using the 

VCA software installed (we can assist with the setup if needed). Remember to 

complete all the required fields on the order form and select the ‘Trace File’ 

option. 

Once we receive the trace file, we will cut the lenses to match the shape specified 

in the file. This applies to both stock and surfaced lenses, as well as full rim and 

supra orders. After the lenses are cut, we will promptly send them to you so you 

can easily fit them into your PX frame.

ORDERING BY POST USING YOUR JAI KUDO LENSES ORDER PAD 

When ordering a photochromic we recommend 

that you order the same lens type. For example, 

both stock lenses, or both surfaced per pair. 

Avoid combining stock with surfaced, as there 

may be slight variances with colour reaction 

time, depth of colour and residual tint. 

The same applies with MAR coated lenses, it 

is best practice to have the same lens type 

for both lenses to ensure an exact match is

When providing your A measurement please check the 

frame diagonal measurement also. 

This is essential as some frames that are asymmetric for example, 

a classic aviator, often have a wider span from corner to corner as 

oppose to frame width horizontally. Failure to check this can result 

in lenses being produced that are too small to cut out. 

Please ensure that when you place your order online 

you check all parameters entered are correctly. 

To ensure a smooth ordering process, please complete the Jai Kudo Lenses order pad with 

your account number, address, and PX details. Failure to provide these essential details may 

result in delays to your order. Once you have filled out the order form, please post it along 

with your PX frame and case to Jai Kudo Lenses. 

Upon receiving your order, we will carefully assess and trace the frame, allowing us to 

determine the specific lenses required. This method is particularly suitable for orders that 

require Jai Kudo Lenses glazing services, especially when dealing with high or complex 

prescriptions or non-standard frames.

we receive your paper order in Liverpool we aim to process the order within 24 hours 

of receipt. Where possible it is always best to process patient orders electronically 

for accuracy and speed.

Near vision advanced technology 

The position of the near vision area is produced to offer

Compensated powers 

Each progressive lens is produced using the chosen frames 

position of wear on the patients face. The final prescription 

reflects the personalised fitting of the frame and the angle of

Optimisation technology 

This is performed using the A, B and D measurements of the 

frame, the patient’s prescription, and the exact position of 

wear on the face. Unwanted edge blur is pushed away from 

common areas of use. Each lens is produced using advance 

optimisation technology. This ensures the best in lens 

aesthetics and vision are achieved every time. 

Oblique astigmatism is reduced by up to 20% 

more than a standard progressive using patented

tailored vision. One size does not fit all, we strongly advise that you take fresh 

measurements for each personalised lens that you dispense. 

By doing so, you ensure that the chosen dispensed frame allows the lenses to sit in

deliver better aesthetic results. When helping a patient to choose 

their eyewear, please pay particular attention to where the pupil

Horizontal and vertical pupil position will impact overall 

edge and centre thickness. 

For all progressive dispenses, please ensure that there is a 

minimum clearance of 10mm from the fitting cross to the

intelligent lenses by Jai Kudo 

OPTISHADE lenses are designed to change their tint automatically 

based on the level of UV exposure. 

OPTISHADE lenses are clear when you are indoors or in lowlight 

conditions, but as soon as you step outside into bright 

sunlight, they begin to darken to protect your eyes. They are 

able to do this thanks to a special photochromic technology 

that is built into the lenses. 

OPTISHADE lenses offer 100% UV protection - up to 400 nm. 

This means that they block out UV rays that can damage your 

eyes. So, with OPTISHADE lenses, you can be sure that your 

eyes are getting the protection they need when you’re out in 

the sun. 

OPTISHADE lenses have a quick fade back speed when you 

move back indoors or into lower light conditions (residual 

colour after fade back of approximately 10% absorption). 

A hassle-free solution for those who want to protect their 

eyes without swapping from glasses to sunglasses all day.

One of the most impressive features of Hydro+ 

is its ability to repel liquids, including water 

and grease. Liquids will bead and roll off the 

surface of the lens. In tests, Hydro+ has been 

shown to be up to eight times easier to clean 

than a standard lens coating.

This is important for individuals who use 

their glasses frequently or who work in

Honeycomb coating is designed to improve vision and reduce eye fatigue. 

It is named after the honeycomb structure that is found in beehives, 

which is known for its strength and ability to distribute weight evenly. 

Nature’s honeycomb pattern also plays an important role when 

applied as a unique coating to a lens surface. Jai Kudo Lenses’ 

Honeycomb coating is applied to a lens surface creating a matrix 

of tiny hexagonal cells.

Our Blue Shield coating helps to reduce the amount of harmful 

blue light from reaching the retina. 

Whilst the largest source of blue light comes 

from the sun, blue light is also emitted from 

artificial light sources and many frequently 

used electrical devices such as smart phones, 

tablets and monitors. 

Blue Shield coating has been designed 

specifically to filter these rays. 

Blue Shield incorporates Hydro+ coating
