The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It's a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.
MONTHLY MEETINGS ARE HELD AT
6.30 P.M. ON THE 3 RD MONDAY OF
EVERY MONTH AT YOSEMITE
FALLS CAFE, 4020 N. CEDAR AVE,
FRESNO CALIFORNIA. INTERESTED

THAN WELCOME TO ATTEND THE
MEETINGS AND MEET OUR
MEMBERS.
Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is defined
in Article III, section 1 of the bylaws in part
as follows: "Membership in Central Valley
Corvettes shall be open to all Corvette
owners who are sponsored by a member in
good standing. Additionally, a prospective
member must, within a three-month period,
attend two consecutive meetings, participate
in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two-thirds vote of membership present at a
general membership meeting by secret ballot.
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all members
must be a member of the association
providing club liability insurance for
CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings or
two sanctioned activities as per CVC Bylaws.
CVC membership dues are $60 plus an
initiation fee of $35. Membership entitles two
adult members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

.... a word from our President
Nominations for board members begin soon. Please consider running for a board
position if someone asks to nominate you. I know many of our members would be great
officers of CVC. Please be ready to submit completed nomination forms to the
Nominations Committee before the cutoff date of the September board meeting. Term of
office is one year and that time flies by! An officer can hold the same office for no more
than two consecutive years. See Article IV of our Bylaws for information about officers
and their election. Our Bylaws are posted on CVC's website.
As was reported during the July general meeting, Jasmine has been accepted into law
school. She will start classes in August. It has been my pleasure working with Jasmine
in her current role as Treasurer for CVC. I'm sure all members that know her have no
doubt she will excel in the legal field. Please join me in congratulating Jasmine on her
accomplishment. Now the hard work begins.
As all of you are aware some of our members are dealing with health issues. Let's
continue to keep them in our prayers and offer support as needed. As I have mentioned
before, members of CVC are a special group. We have many people who are very
supportive.

MEMBERSHIP REPORT by JULIE SONS
August is roaring in like a Lion and the heat is among us.
Uggh!! Try to stay cool as best you can. I’m sure I have the
same sentiment as others in saying I can’t wait for the
cooler weather we anticipate in Alaska next week.
However, we will all be back to the heat in no time.
Great to see a good turnout at the general meeting on a very hot day.
We had 55 members and 6 guests

Our total membership is now 97 with the approval vote of the Wards.
Any and all guests are invited to join us at any of our club sanctioned activities or
events. Just be sure to sign up on the clipboards and add your cell number to
sheet

CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES GENERAL MEETING -MINUTES of July 17, 2023
President Jeff Engelman called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
Secretary Jody Webb –Jeff asked the members to approve the minutes of June 19, 2023,
meeting, as printed in the Newsletter. A motion was made to accept the minutes by Charlotte
Renna and was seconded by Bob Peluso.
VP of Public Relations/Membership – Julie Sons reported that we have 55 members and 6
guests in attendance. Leta and Dennis Ward will be voted on for membership this evening.
They bought the Comer’s 2007 Corvette. New guests in attendance were Tom & Barbara
Westerfield and Don & Jill Eskender. July Birthdays and Anniversaries were announced.
Congratulations went out to our anniversary winners Terri & Fred Parks.
Treasurer’s Report-Jasmine Luna read the Club’s Treasury Report with an accounting of the
deposits made and checks written for expenses and our current balance. A copy is attached.
Stephanie Engelman sold raffle tickets for the meeting.
VP of Activities-Gary Linsner- reported on past runs including African Safari at the Chaffee Zoo
and a Movie Night for the new Indiana Jones. Upcoming events include the Horse races at the
Big Fresno Fair, the COF’s Reno/Tahoe event, “Another Damn Day Run”, the Sensorio light
experience in Paso Robles, a Beach Boys Concert at The Big Fresno fair, Sierra Sky Park Car
Show, Sanger High Homecoming, and the CVC Christmas Party. See our activities page for
further information.
Newsletter Update – Newsletters articles, flyers and pictures need to be sent to Charlie
Fosnaugh by July 21, 2023. So that there can be a Newsletter for August but that it would be
an abbreviated one because so many members would be together on the Alaskan cruise.
Old Business – No old business was addressed.
New Business- Jeff Engelman brought up that it is getting close to nomination time for board
members and that we need to start thinking of members for open and renewing positions.

Sunshine News – Julie reported on the Sunshine and Clouds of the Members, a full report will
be in the newsletter.
Sergeant-of-Arms – Chuck Laningham- Badge fines were waived for the evening by Jeff.
Next General Meeting – Yosemite Falls Café, Granite Park, Monday, Aug. 21, 2023, at 6:30 PM
Next Board Meeting – The next board meeting will be 11:00 AM, July 19, 2023, at the home of
Julie Sons. Please let President Jeff Engelman know if you plan on attending.
Meeting Adjourned – Jeff called for meeting to be adjourned, Chuck Laningham made the
motion, and the motion was seconded by Sara Garcia. The meeting was adjourned at 7:09
P.M.

The Raffle for the June General Meeting was conducted by Jimmy Webb, Craig Derringer, Larry
King, and Chuck Laningham.
The club would like to recognize the prizes were donated by The Henderson’s, Linsner’s,
Rosen’s, Resciniti’s, Garcia’s, Garcia’s, Renna, Engelman’s and Webb’s, King’s, Sons’, Kroeker,
Derringer’s, Webb’s, King’s, Kiing’s, Elrich’s, Garrison’s, Laningham’s, Garlock’s, Ward’s,
Severance’s, Tavares. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support for the
raffle and note that it is a large source of our income and without the donations we could not
have many of the events that we plan throughout the year.
Congratulations to our $50.00 winners Gail Tavares & Bruce Garlock.

JULY SUNSHINE & CLOUDS
Surgery/Health Update:
Tom Jarvis update: He continues to recover at home and Marci said he is feeling the best this
week since having surgery.
Walt Spate was moved to a skilled nursing facility for ongoing management of chemo and
dialysis treatment
Debbie Garrison is recovering nicely and has started PT. Doctor says she is healing well and
ahead of schedule.
Frieda is still experiencing quite a bit of swelling in her leg and has fluid filled areas around
wound. Update: Frieda was admitted for surgery on Tuesday and hopefully will feel better
very soon. She will not be able to go on our cruise with us.
Don Olson had a Laminectomy on his back last month and is recovering nicely.
Margaret had knee surgery last month and is recovering nicely.
Happy News
Jasmine received good news about passing her entrance exam and will be staring Law school
next semester.
Jill and Steve sold their 2004 Anniversary Corvette to her friend Jill and husband Don.
Gary and Pam’s granddaughter Olivia is going to the Jr. Olympics in Eugene Oregon on July
30 th . Go Olivia!!
Dale & Sue got the key to their new home last week and headed over today with the movers
to bring a few loads of items. They sold their Fresno home without putting it on the market to
a neighbor and they need to be out of it by end of the month. I told him that is when you find
out how many friends you really have. LOL
Congratulations to Jeff Kroeker who proposed to his girlfriend Debbie and they are now
anticipating a wedding.
Araceli purchased a piece of commercial property and closing escrow soon.
Vacations:
The Ashley’s are in Hawaii this week but ended it a bit soon as there was some bad weather in
Oahu. Bummer!
Skip Garrison is in Maui for a family friend’s wedding.
Charlie & Kim are heading out on a Mediterranean cruise a 3 day after the Alaska Cruise.
Wow, what a life

It appears that as the weather cools down the activities start to heat up. A big Thank
you to everyone who has put on a run to date and there is still time to get your run on
the schedule for this fall. If it sounds like a good time to you, talk to me and we will see
if we can make it happen. Just a thought but there is not a Halloween party on the
schedule yet.
