Guest Policy
While most DC Ranch
programming is intended for
residents only, there may be an
instance where residents would
like to invite a guest. Please
contact the program coordinator
listed on the calendar or
registration page to make this
request. There are many factors
such as space, capacity, food,
beverage, etc. that the program
coordinator must consider for
each program and may not
always be able to accommodate
the request.

Leadership Academy
Are you interested in learning more
about the community’s governance
and operations? Are you thinking
about joining a committee, becoming
a Neighborhood Voting Member or
serving on the Board of Directors but
need more information?
Now through Dec. 15, DC Ranch is
accepting applications for Class
IV scheduled for spring 2024. The
educational series involves hands-on
activities to expose participants to
the types of situations they might
encounter as a community leadership

EarthCaching coming soon
Take to the paths and trails to
discover the world beneath your
feet with EarthCaching - a program
where adventure, education and
environmental stewardship come
together! Offering a unique twist
on traditional treasure hunting, this
program invites adventurers of all
ages to connect with nature while
uncovering the fascinating geological
features and rich history of DC Ranch
through their smartphone. Look for
more details to come.

FITNESS CLASSES
Cost varies per session. $10 drop in.
All Levels Yoga
Monday and Wednesday | 9 to 10 a.m.
The Homestead
This class instructs students in the fundamental principles
of yoga poses and alignment, linked together by the breath.
Students will be introduced to yoga through step-by-step
verbal description and demonstration. Please bring a yoga
mat, towel and water bottle.
Strength and Balance
Monday and Wednesday | 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The Homestead
This class is designed for all levels to work on strengthening
and lengthening muscles. It also works on your core and
balance to give an all-around workout. A portion of the
class will be done seated on a mat. Light weights and
resistance bands will be available for use. Please bring a
yoga mat, towel and water bottle.
Aqua Fitness
Wednesday and Friday | 9 to 10 a.m.
Desert Camp Pool
Water fitness is an excellent way to get a low-impact cardio
workout while toning and strengthening muscles. Come join
in the fun and go at your own pace! Remember to bring a
towel, water bottle and sunscreen.

Zumba Gold
Friday | 10 to 11 a.m.
The Homestead
Take the “work” out of workout with this interval-style,
calorie-burning dance fitness party. The class will introduce
easy-to-follow choreography with a focus on balance, range
of motion and coordination.
CLUBS
Pickleball Club
Wednesday | 6 to 8 p.m.
Friday and Sunday
7 to 8 a.m. (advanced)
8 to 10 a.m. (beginner/intermediate)
Desert Camp Courts
Try your hand at a friendly game of pickleball. All levels
are welcome. Please bring a paddle or visit the front desk
to check one out.
Hand and Foot Canasta
Thursday | 1 to 4 p.m.
Desert Camp
Join other residents for a fun, friendly game. This
variation of Canasta is easy to learn and the group will
teach you along the way.

SEPTEMBER
NotMyKid Parent Education
Tuesday, Sept. 5 | 6 to 7 p.m.
The Homestead
Ages 21+ | $7
Presented by notMYkid, parents
of upper Elementary, Middle and
High Schoolers will learn strategies
to support their child’s growth,
development and mental health
during these formative years.
Topics include:
• Building healthy relationships
• Parent conversation skills
• Helping your child with coping

Pickleball Youth Clinic
Saturday, Sept. 9
Session 1: Ages 8-11 | 8:30 to 10 a.m. ($12)

Desert Camp Courts
This one-day clinic will have your child playing pickleball in no time! Young
residents will learn the proper technique for basic groundstrokes, dinks,
volleys, the serve, the return of serve, as well as scoring and tactics.

Club. Raven’s View offers an extensive

Enjoy a night off from cooking as
some of the Valley’s best food trucks
roll into DC Ranch. Kids will also
have a “blast” building and launching
bottle rockets on the lawn. All
supplies provided.

Guided Hike
Saturday, Oct. 7 | 7:30 to 9:30 a.m.
Pima Dynamite Trailhead
Ages 13+ | RSVP
Enjoy a guided group hike with a
Conservancy steward on the
Pima-Dynamite Trail located within
the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. This
easy 3-mile loop trail takes you near
a rare crested saguaro cactus. Please
wear appropriate shoes and bring
plenty of water.
Scottsdale Philharmonic
Sunday, Oct. 8 | 3 to 6:15 p.m.

Ages 16+ | $23
Enjoy an afternoon of classical music. Travel by bus to attend the Scottsdale
Philharmonic fall concert featuring Brahms: Piano Concert No. 1 with piano
soloist Vitaly Serebriakov, Marquez: Danzon No. 2 and Jenkins: Palladio from
Diamond Movement No. 1.
After the concert, residents will have an exclusive opportunity to meet the
conductor, some of the musicians and ask questions.
Mavrix Youth Meet Up
Monday, Oct. 9 | Noon to 2:15 p.m.
Meet at Mavrix
Ages 6-12 | $28
Kids will enjoy some fall break fun with interactive bowling, arcades and
more. Registration includes a $10 game card, pizza party and a free game of

Spotlight Speaker Series: Bizarre History of the McDowells
Wednesday, Oct. 18 | 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The McDowell Mountains contain a peculiar past of plane crashes, ghosts,
murders and wildfires. Join Len Marcisz, a legacy steward with the
McDowell Sonoran Preserve, to learn about the impact of southwestern
military, mining, ranching, urbanization and preservation activities on the
natural resources of the area. Light bites and beverages provided. Doors
open at 5:30 p.m., speaker begins at 6 p.m.

Step into the Prohibition era at the
DC Ranch Spookeasy and let the
“spirit” move you. Come dressed in

Prickly Pumpkin Patch
Tuesday, Oct. 24 | 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Visit the annual pumpkin patch! Pick
your own pumpkin to take home and
decorate, capture a memorable photo
and make a seasonal craft. Light

Community Safety Forum
Wednesday, Oct. 25 | 6 p.m.
The Homestead
Residents are invited to join the City of Scottsdale Police and Fire Departments
for an educational discussion on emergency preparedness. Learn about
evacuation planning in the instance of fire or flood and take home new
strategies to support personal safety and community wellbeing.

CPR/First Aid Class
Saturday, Nov. 4 | 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Ages 16+ | $34
This CPR course will train individuals
to overcome reluctance to act in
emergency situations and to recognize
and care for life-threatening respiratory
or cardiac emergencies in children
and adults. The class will cover adult,
child and infant CPR, the use of an
Automated External Defibrillator (AED),
and first aid for choking.

Celebrate Arizona wine country with
a day trip to the annual “Walkin’
on Main.” The Verde Valley Wine
Consortium, as well as art exhibits,

of Old Town Cottonwood.
