Critical reflection has long been an essential practice
complementing the service work we do at the Hall. Action coupled
with reflection is how we grow as critical thinkers and learn more
about ourselves and the opportunities and responsibilities facing us
as members of the living community on this planet.
One of the most important habits to cultivate toward a critically
reflective practice is listening: deep, open-minded, empathetic, and
non-judgmental listening. It is what we depend on from those who
counsel and guide us; it is what we have benefited from in those
who love us and have our best interests at heart. And it is also what
we owe each other.
