Ill-fitting dentures or a rough tooth rubbing against the cheek or gums is a common cause. When white patches develop in the mouths of smokers as the body’s natural protection against the heat of tobacco smoke, the condition is called smoker’s keratosis. Patches also occur if a cud of chewing tobacco or snuff is held in the mouth for extended periods. You may notice a white or grayish patch that develops on the inside of one cheek or on your tongue. After a while, it may become rough and sensitive to hot or spicy foods. If you do observe such a patch, see your dentist. If the patch persists after treatment, a biopsy specimen of the area may be taken and examined under a microscope. About three percent of such patches are early signs of mouth cancer. High St., Columbus, OH 43206 Obetz Splash Pad The Obetz Splash Pad, 4390 Lancaster Avenue, Obetz, opened for the summer on May 25. Admission is free and it is open to residents and non-residents Monday — Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Per city of Obetz officials, the Splash Pad is intended to be used by individuals age 12 and under. Individuals under age 12 must be accompanied by someone who is age 16 or older. Individuals who are age 13 or older may enter the Splash Pad if supervising children age 6 and under or an individual with special needs. The Lancaster Park shelter house is available for all splash pad visitors. It is not available for rentals. There is not currently a concession stand at the Splash Pad. There are vending machines and visitors are allowed to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages. Due to ongoing construction at Lancaster Park, parking is available in the lot located between Dairy Queen and Obetz Hardware. The entrance to the Splash Pad will be at the gate by Hillcrest Avenue on Lancaster Street. Madison Township Police report According to the Madison Township Police, during May, officers responded to 331 dispatched calls and logged 15,317 patrol miles. Officers impounded 27 vehicles and used 1,501 gallons of fuel. In addition, four OVI arrests were made, three in Blacklick Estates, including one charged at the felony level, and one outside the jurisdictional boundaries of the township. My family and I see high speeds every day in this area. In addition to allowing golf carts, the new trail system is also a concern. It is a great success with high usage from daylight to dark. Lowering the speed limit would greatly improve trail safety and golf cart safety.” In addressing Cooper’s public comment, City Administrator Matt Peoples said it is state law that the posted speed limit is 35 mph along Washington Street north of Ashbrook and Canal Winchester is not permitted to change the speed limit. City attorney Thaddeus Boggs said golf carts can be authorized on roadways of 35 mph or less. “The city can set a limit less than that for golf carts, but the city cannot unilaterally change that stretch of roadway from 35 mph to 25 mph for vehicles generally,” said Boggs. FLOAT Continued from page 1 The old float needed a lot of work. “The float took severe water damage,” said Lisa. “The entire outside had to be removed and replaced as well as part of the support structure for the bottom two seating levels. The front rail was lowered for visibility. All of the hand rails were rebuilt higher for look and safety. The top level was hinged to make it low enough to fit in a garage for future storage. And the entire thing will be sealed with water proof paint to make it more weather resistant.” Matthew faced a lot of challenges on the project. He had to network with several businesses to obtain donations of supplies to keep the costs down. He also had to learn to manage a team of mostly adults with conflicting availability and different ideas of how to improve the float. When asked how much it cost to refurbish the float and how the project is being funded, Lisa said, “The Miss Canal Winchester Pageant held two fundraisers. Matthew had plans for a third, but he was able to get enough supplies donated that the third was not needed. The pageant held a Valentine’s Ball in February and hosted a Spring Market craft show in April. The total cost of the supplies will be over $1,000 but the cost to the pageant should be less than $300.” Several business partners contributed to the project including: Nat Floyd from Bounce Up Ohio which provided time, labor, supplies and construction expertise; Tom Obert of Joe Dirt provided an indoor space to work as well as time, labor, tools, parts, and paint; 84 Lumber donated all of the wood; and The Paul Peterson Company donated additional supplies. Watch for the refurbished float in the Canal Winchester Labor Day parade. It will truly be fit for a queen!

The camp is designed to nurture creativity, teamwork, and a love for the outdoors through various activities ranging from arts and crafts to field trips. There is a limit of 14 children per age group. Scheduled from Monday to Thursday, the camp for 6-8-year-olds runs from June 17 to July 2, while the 9-11- year-olds camp runs from July 15 to Aug. 1. Legislative Update: Innovative Policies for Families and Comprehensive Healthcare Dear Constituents, I am thrilled to share updates on two important pieces of legislation that I have been working on to benefit families and communities across Ohio. First, the rising cost of child care has become unsustainable for many Ohio families. To address this, Representative Mark Johnson and I are proud to introduce the “Child Care Credit Act.” This innovative legislation, embodied in Senate Bill 273 and House Bill 610, introduces a tri-sharemodel where families & employers can elect to open in, and the State of Ohio each covers one-third of the total childcare costs. We aim to make child care more affordable and strengthen Ohio’s workforce. I am pleased to announce that our initiative has received endorsements from key organizations, including Goodwill Columbus, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce, the Ohio Business Roundtable, and Groundwork Ohio. Their representatives joined us at this week’s press conference, demonstrating strong support for this vital effort. Together, we are committed to easing the financial burden on families and ensuring that every child has access to quality care. In addition to addressing child care, I am pleased to inform you about Senate Bill 95, the Telepharmacy Bill. This bill aims to improve pharmaceutical access across Ohio by enabling remote dispensing pharmacies and telepharmacy systems, particularly benefiting our rural and underserved communities. Key provisions of SB 95 include: ● Allowing pharmacists to mail prescriptions to patients, addressing barriers for those who face long commutes to obtain medications. ● Providing a process to grant waivers for pharmacies within a 10-mile radius, ensuring fair consideration and transparency. ● Permitting the Board of Pharmacy to add new long acting injectables that pharmacists can administer. ● Enabling the State Board of Pharmacy to register technicians as young as seventeen creating more opportunities in this vital field. SB 95 ensures patient safety through comprehensive controls and regulations, including daily prescription dispensing limits, stringent reporting requirements, and mandatory staffing levels at remote dispensing pharmacies. By joining 28 other states in embracing telepharmacy, Ohio can extend pharmaceutical access to all 88 counties, fostering healthier communities, reducing healthcare costs, and easing the burden of lengthy commutes for essential medications.
