BLAXHALL
WOODBRIDGE DMCC
Blaxhall has a rich history, having hosted numerous British
Championship events in the 90s and early 00s, before
becoming a regular feature on the ACU British
Championship calendar.
Woodbridge DMCC, the return of this event underscores
the venue's excellence and their meticulous attention to
detail, earning them the prestigious title of 'Organiser of
the Year' for several years. Established in late 1956 as the
Rendlesham and District Club, they adopted the name
Woodbridge DMCC in 1966 when they inaugurated their
first Scramble at the Blaxhall circuit.
Since their involvement in the ACU British Championship in
2015, their club has thrived, regularly hosting events for up
to 200 riders and cementing their status as one of the top
ACU motocross clubs in the UK. They remain dedicated to
enhancing the venue and facilities to ensure an
outstanding experience for all attendees, maintaining a
continuous cycle of preparation and improvement from
year to year.
THE BASICS OF MOTOCROSS
M
THE FLAGS
otocross is a challenging and physically demanding
sport that requires a high level of skill and athleticism. It
is also a very popular sport, with many thousands of
fans around the world who enjoy watching the races
and cheering on their favorite riders.
Green flag: This
indicates the start
of a race or a
practice session.
White flag: Medical
attention required.
Checkered flag:
This indicates the
end of a race or
practice session.
Blue flag: This
indicates that a
faster rider is
approaching and
wants to overtake.
Red flag: This
indicates that the
race or practice
session has been
stopped due to an
incident or
dangerous
conditions on the
track.
Yellow flag: This
indicates that there
is a potential danger
on the track, such as
a crashed rider or
debris. Riders must
slow down and
proceed with
caution.
The basic rules of motocross are relatively simple: riders
must complete a set number of laps on the track, and
the first rider to cross the finish line is the winner.
However, there are also rules regarding safety, such as
the use of protective gear, and penalties for rule
infractions.

JOEL WINSTANLEY-DAWSON
Joel Winstanley Dawson, the 2023 Small Wheel 85cc
ease, however, he did not stop there! Joel won eight of
the 12 races throughout the season, if he didn’t win he
was a close second. It was a dominant 2023, so we sat
down with Joel to review his year and see what he hopes
to achieve in 2024.
Joel, you were Small Wheel
85cc British Champion last
year! With a hefty 43 point
lead ahead of the next rider,
how did this feel for you?
coming into the 2024 season.
“My Training was going really well I trained In Spain over the
winter and was training with my trainer Ash Wilde from RMJ
Academy. Everything was going good until I broke my wrist in
February, it resulted in me being off the bike for over six weeks,
But I'm back training now so hopefully I can get my fitness back
to what it was”
What are your goals for 2024? Is it to
win the Championship? and who do
you see as your biggest
competition?
“I'd be happy with a top 5 as It's a
