guests from near and far 

and football enthusiasts, 

We, the Ravensburg Razorbacks e.V support association, 

warmly welcome you to the Razordome. After the renovation 

of the TeleData Stadium at Lindenhof and a disappointing 2023 

season, we are pleased to welcome you back to our familiar „living room“. 

Football is more than just a flourishing sport, it is a passion that has been growing steadily 

at the ifm Razorbacks since its founding through tradition, regionality and success. 

In order to promote this connection to the greater Upper Swabia region, the football 

tradition and playful progress, the Ravensburg Razorbacks e.V. support association was 

founded in 2016. 

The philosophy of the support association has been growing for years, which can be seen 

in the very successful years at the TeleData Stadium at Lindenhof. But the success is 

not only visible in the GFL team; we as a support association also focus on supporting 

the youth teams, because a future-proof GFL team is only as good as its youth work. We 

also support our cheerleaders, who now make up a large part of the Razorbacks family 

and take part in championships at state and national level. This year‘s redesign of the 

VIP area, which was made possible by numerous sponsors and our own efforts, enables 

professional support during home games.The VIP area is looked after by the support association 

and its members.A big thank you goes to the club members and the generous 

sponsors, who can always be relied on.In order to continue to enable professional support 

of football in Upper Swabia, we would be happy to receive additional support. In this instance, 

we invite you to be part of this successful collaboration and sporting success and 

look forward to talking to you at the home games.

Bye Week 

time to breathe 

The first bye week - a week without games - for 

the GFL team offers the time to take a breather 

and draw an interim conclusion for the 2024 

season(s). 

During the season break, many Razorbacks 

teams changed their respective head coach positions. 

John Gilligan took over this position at 

the GFL level. Jake Suggett, who had just made 

the career change from player to coach, showed 

so much commitment in the fall in leading the 

training of the Devo team, the adult development 

team, that he was promptly motivated by 

the players and coaches to take over the Devo 

HC position.And the position of head coach for 

the juniors was also filled by Thorsten Friedrich, 

father and committed coach. 

All coaches have managed to advance the Razorbacks‘ 

program as a whole.Unfortunately, this 

progress is not yet reflected in the GFL team‘s 

record, as we currently have 2 wins and 5 losses. 

Anyone who was at the games in person or watched 

them via stream knows that the results 

were so close that the team was only a few 

points or even yards away from a positive result. 

In the defeat in Hildesheim, we were only 

3 yards and one point away from victory, while 

against the runner-up in Schwäbisch Hall, it was 

4 seconds and 3 points that sealed a defeat. 

Several factors are driving this positive development.Established 

local players are again putting 

in top performances this year and have gained 

even more strength. Niklas Herrmann is among 

the top 3 defensive backs in the league and is 

said by commentators to be one of the best 

German players in this position. In the defensive 

line, Lucas Walk is a threat to any offence, while 

a few yards behind, Henri Moudilou is continuing 

his strong development in the LB position from 

last year. Tim Müller and Michi Mayer are dangerous 

passing options for all players and have already 

put 54 points on the board between them 

via passing, as well as Lennies McFerren with 24 

points per run. Former youth players Luca Nicklas 

and Leo Dunke, who joined our GFL team last 

year, are starting in the offensive line. In addition 

to these well-known top performers, a major 

factor at the 

moment is that players from 

the Devo team have also been 

promoted to the GFL squad or are 

getting playing time again and again and are 

making impressive use of it. Linus Marquardt 

was able to record his first GFL touchdown in the 

game against the Allgäu Comets, and Samuel 

Schieren made important tackles in the same 

game. HC John Gilligan has now put a fantastic 

group of international coaches and players at 

the side of these great local athletes. After a 

few necessary personnel changes, we now see a 

real team on the field that motivates each other 

and is ready to give it their all to win for Ravensburg. 

The other teams mentioned are about to deliver 

their best performances in years. The Devo team, 

led by Jake Suggett, is currently in first place in 

the BaWü district league and has the championship 

almost in their hands. Thorsten Friedrich, 

together with a highly motivated coaching crew 

including OC Alex Borgmann, who has been working 

in the youth sector for years, has managed 

to build a structured program and can currently 

boast a record of 3 wins, one loss and one draw. 

So let‘s enjoy these positive trends in the development 

of all teams which are continuing 

over the summer. And so we could get closer to 

the season goal of playing the best season ever 

for the Razorbacks.All of this is made all the better 

by the outstanding fan support, for which I 

would like to thank you again at this point.

INTERVIEW with 

KEVIN KIENZLE 

Gaby: Hi Kevin. You have been playing 

American football since 2006. How did your 

career start and how has the game developed 

since then? 

Kevin: In short: My uncle Frank decided 

when I stopped playing soccer that I just 

had to come along and then it was clear. I’ve 

played American football ever since. What’s 

changed is that sometimes there were only 

three of us at training and a maximum of 

five of us. There was no flag football back 

then (I started with tackle football). In the 

first year I was in the U17+U19 and I played 

at that level until I got into the first team. 

There was no Devo team back then either. 

Gaby: What have been the biggest challenges 

you have faced in your career so far? 

Kevin: I think the biggest challenge is juggling 

your professional and private life. 

You’re not „just“ studying, but also going to 

school, training or working, the challenge is to 

coordinate everything. In the lower leagues, 

you can make up for a lot with natural 

ability and skill, but that‘s just not 

possible in the higher leagues and you 

have to train. Whether it‘s going to the 

gym, training or watching film. If you want 

to do it all properly, you have to spend 2-3 

hours every day, 7 days a week. As soon 

as you live further away, you have to decide 

for yourself whether you can or 

want to do that. I‘ve always been lucky that 

I‘ve been spared major injuries. 

Gaby: You stopped playing football and 

came back. What motivated you to return 

to the sport? 

Kevin: I never really left, I never said I was 

going to quit. When I do something, I do it 

completely or not at all. For example, I lived 

in Sigmaringen and also worked abroad, often 

until 6-7 p.m. or even much longer, so 

it was not possible for me to drive an hour 

to training twice a week. Last year I moved 

back here but didn‘t play, and then my uncle 

actually came back and asked if I wanted to 

play again. In the end, however, the decisive 

factor was that Coach Gilly came back and I 

played under him before. He is a coach who 

has structure and I enjoyed playing under 

him. So the decision was made.

This year it was clear that we had two running 

backs and so it was clear that I would 

play linebacker, which I really enjoy on the 

field, in training and also off the field. 

Gaby: If we asked you 

in 20 years what was the 

best game of your life and why? 

What would your answer be? 

Kevin: Phew, I think that‘s the hardest question. 

I‘ve played so many games in my life 

and there were a lot of special ones, like the 

recent win against Kempten, where we‘ve 

never beaten them. But I think one of the 

most special games for me, in which I played 

a significant part, was when we played 

against Rottenburg in the GFL 2 at Rottenburg, 

when I replaced our running back - 

who was ejected. Gilly put me in as RB after 

halftime and in the second half I made over 

100 yards and the opponent was completely 

overwhelmed and we won by a narrow 

margin. That was one of the best games because 

I played an important role right up to 

the end. 

Gaby: How satisfied are you with this year’s 

team and what are your thoughts on 

the current season? 

Kevin: I think everyone has noticed that we 

had difficulties at the beginning. We have 

now made some adjustments and we really 

have a good harmony in the team and it is 

really fun to play. I would perhaps like to 

have a few more local players from our own 

youth team. It is also nice to see how many 

families, friends and colleagues come to 

a match day and support us local players. 

Thoughts on the season: We are definitely 

in a worse position than we should be this 

year. Due to our talent and quality in the 

team, we should be in the top 3 this year.

Gaby: Why do you play linebacker? Was 

running back not for you? 

Kevin: Two years ago I played running back 

and that worked well.

Gaby: What advice would you give to 

someone who dreams of playing in the GFL? 

Kevin: You just have to be clear about what 

you want.You have to put all your focus on 

training and be really prepared to invest 2-3 

hours of your time 7 days a week. If you 

play in the Devo team and are already the 

best in your position - try to take part in 

the training of the GFL team, because only 

with the next steps can you get better and 

grow. Back then, when we were 18 or 19, we 

took part in the training of the first team 

after our training - we’d be doing up to 4-5 

hours in one day, because we simply wanted 

to get better.. 

Gaby: How has playing 

in the GFL influenced 

your life, both on and 

off the field? 

Kevin: You 

definitely have 

to have 

self-discipline 

and commitment. 

All or nothing. 

It‘s a team 

sport and you 

have to be 

aware that 

the team 

consists of at 

least 40 players 

that you can 

easily get 

along with. 

I‘m just a person 

who prefers team 

sports to 

individual sports. 

Gaby: What are your goals for the future 

on and off the field? 

Kevin: We‘ll see what happens. I‘ll finish the 

season first and then we‘ll see what happens. 

It won‘t be easy as the years go by, 

even physically it‘s not so easy to recover. A 

lot will happen professionally and then we‘ll 

have to see how much time allows. 

Gaby: Thank you Kevin for your time for the

The Kirchdorf Wildcats are at home on the Austrian 

border. The Wildcats were founded in 1986 

under the name Simbach Wildcats and were promoted 

back to the first Bundesliga (GFL1) at the 

end of the 2023 season. The last time the two 

teams met was on October 6, 2019 in the relegation 

play-off. The Ravensburg Razorbacks won 

58:34 at home in front of 1,700 spectators. The 

Wildcats have only won one of their five games 

in the current season. The 2024 season got off 

to a promising start for the Kirchdorf Wildcats. 

They showed an impressive and solid defense in 

the first games. The offense, on the other hand, 

has struggled to put many or enough points 

on the scoreboard so far. However, head coach 

Christoph Riener showed what his team is made 

of in the last game against the Munich Cowboys 

and secured their first win at home with 27:7. 

This victory naturally boosts the team‘s self-confidence 

and gives them the necessary tailwind.

Stars Cheerleader 

from Ravensburg - 

more than just a sport! 

Cheerleading may just be a sport 

for some. But for our Starscheerleader 

from Ravensburg it is a passion 

that combines boys and girls across 

all ages. 70 members share the fun 

of the cheerleading sport. These include 

the Peewees aged 6-11 years, 

the juniors up to the age limit of 

15 years and the seniors from the 

age of 16. The cheerleaders represent 

and train, among other things, 

eagerly for competitions and performances. 

Motivating progress and 

success is always visible. 

At the beginning of this year, the 

senior „Flying Stars“ again achieved 

fourth place at the national championship 

in Tübingen. A big success 

for the determined group. With their 

result, they were able to qualify for 

the German championship in Frankfurt 

for the first time this year and 

faced new challenges and new goals. 

The Starscheerleaders are characterized 

by their team spirit, their joy 

of the sport and their ambition. A 

feeling that can be felt across all 

the entire squad . This motivation 

and the fun of the sport will also be 

seen and felt at the start of the IFM 

Razorbacks season.

On the sideline, the Starscheerleader 

will cheer on the IFM Razorbacks 

football team to win and provide 

a breathtaking show, new stunts, 

jumps, tumblings and many different 

dances. In addition to supporting 

the football team, the cheerleaders 

also like to supports the 

audience during the game day. Here 

you will find many goodies and refreshments.
