Dear sports fans and friends!
The Razorbacks have a strong defence! You can‘t survive without a strong
defence. That‘s true for American football. But that‘s also true for our country:
We need a strong, fully operational army - especially now!
I think it‘s great that the Razorbacks are hosting this special game together
with our German army! And as a former member of the International
Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol School in Weingarten, I am particularly
pleased that the German Army is visiting us in the Schussen Valley and
wish the game a successful outcome with the traditional salute of the airborne
troops.

PENALTIES
at a glance
Offside
Why is there a yellow
flag there now and what happened?
We have summarised the most
common penalties here.
5 YARDS
A player is offside if he has a part of his body in the
neutral zone before the snap (ball handover from the
centre to the quarterback). Before the snap, none of
the players on the offensive line or the defensive line
are allowed to move. Only an offensive player who is
„in motion“ is allowed to move. The players on the line
often try to provoke their opponents into flinching before
the snap, which then leads to encroachment, false
start or illegal motion.
False Start
5 YARDS
Before the snap has occurred, an offensive line player
may not give up his three-point stance or simulate that
the snap has already occurred.
Illegal motion
5 YARDS
In the moment before the snap (face-off), only one offensive
player, namely one player in the backfield, is
allowed to move (the player in motion). He must be at
least one yard away from the line of scrimmage (the
line on which the ball is played) and may only run parallel
to this line or move backwards away from it.
Pass lnterference ... for defence :
15 YARDS from the previous spot and
an automatic first down.
... for offence:
15 YARDS from the previous spot and repeat the down.
A pass can be caught by both the offence and the defence.
If the ball is in the air within a catchable distance,
a player may not be prevented from catching it. The
exception is in the case of collisions when trying to
catch the ball. Neither the intended pass receiver nor
the defender may hold the opponent, push him away
or block his path when he runs to the ball.
Facemask
15 YARDS and a first down
Grabbing the opponent‘s face mask (face guard / visor
on the helmet). Even if unintentional, this is punished
as a foul!
Holding
... for defence:
5 YARDS and a first down
... for offence:
10 YARDS
A defence player is only allowed to hold the ball carrier.
In offence, the ball carrier is the only player who
is allowed to use his hands to fend off an opponent.
Delay of Game
5 YARDS
The offence must put the ball back in play within 45
seconds (or 30 seconds after a timeout, injury, or other
extraordinary stoppage).
Roughing the Passer 15 YARDS & First Down
Once the quarterback has played the pass, the defence
is no longer allowed to tackle him. If the defence
player has already started to tackle, this only applies
if he would have been able to stop the movement.
Roughing the Kicker
15 YARDS & First Down
Intentionally knocking over the kicker. A defender
must have blocked the ball or at least touched it before
knocking over a punter or the kicker, unless the
kicker himself or one of his teammates has first made
physical contact with the defensive player.
Unnecessary Roughness
15 YARDS & First
Down (Offense)
Intentional physical fouls, such as tackling an opponent
outside the touchline, head butting with the helmet
(Helmet to Helmet), punching, kicking or kneeing
an opponent.
Unsportsmanlike conduct
15 YARDS &
First Down (Offense)
Verbal abuse, offensive and obscene gestures. Fouls
without physical contact.

A defensive player may not rush at the ball carrier or
another opponent when the ball is dead.

One Team, One Target
WE ARE
RAZORBACKS LADIES!
Last summer, our women‘s team was
called “Down! Set! Huts!„. The game
was played in the women‘s Aufbauliga
south in the so-called tournament
mode, which consists of two games
with two quarters on a game day, in
the 7 vs. 7. Due to the smaller squad in
the women‘s teams in the Aufbauliga,
the ladies, unlike the men‘s teams, for
example, play with only seven players
per side on the field. In total, the Razorback
Ladies competed for eight games
on four match days. The opponents
came from Bruchsal, Dachau and Mannheim.
The 20 ish players ended their
first season with third place in the table,
an achievement with which players
and the coaches team were very pleased
with.
“The first season of the women
went as expected - many new
players - with and without previous
experience - had to come together and
a new coaching team had to adapt. However,
it should be emphasized that the
women quickly came together through
enormous team spirit and the coaches
immediately saw a common path of
the game philosophy.The ability to play
could be significantly improved in the
course of the season and the team has
developed good cohesion that has been
shown on the field. However, we have
also recognized that we will have to
refine our strategy next season to improve
the flow of the game.”said Maik
Dibowski, Defence Coordinator and Jan
Nawratil, Offence Coordinator.

Looking on to the new season, the two
coaches are confident that the team
can take on the opponents and expand
the first successes of the last season in
the individual games.
The team is currently being trained by
five dedicated coaches Alfeo Kopp (HC),
Maik Dibowski (DC), Jan Nawratil (OC),
Thorsten Weggenmann (O-line), Marco
Fluder (Special Teams)), all of which can
make a wide range of training possible
for women through their many years of
football experience in different positions
and diverse experiences.All skills
that are required in football, depending
on the position - such as speed,
strength, ability to move and ball safety
- are trained in different ways. Under
the direction of head coach Alfeo
Kopp, the team is already preparing for
the upcoming season, which is expected
to start at the end of August. The
Razorback Ladies team has officially
been part of the Razorbacks family since
mid-2022. The first tryouts took place
almost two years ago and the team
started their first season after less than
a year of training. What the players
particularly enjoy about their team is
the diversity and the strong bond with
each other. Every player finds her right
position and the team sees itself as a
unit on and off the field.

The Razorback Ladies look forward to
newcomers at any time - with and without
experience - and cordially invite
you to stop by the training! If you are
under 16 years old, our youth team is
also happy to have new faces.
Feel free to contact the team, the coaches

de), on Instagram (@ifmrazorbacksoder),
or just drop by. The ladies training
is currently taking place every Tuesday,
7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday, 7
p.m. to 9 p.m. on the TSB Football Field
(artificial turf pitch) in Brühlstraße in
Ravensburg. No previous knowledge
is required, only a positive attitude,
sportswear, a water bottle and, in the
best case, soccer shoes.

SINCE 1988
The season got off to a promising start, with
the Kiel Baltic Hurricanes notching up their
first win against the Braunschweig New Yorker
Lions in their first game. The rest of the Baltic
Hurricanes‘ current 2024 season has been
characterized by highs and lows. American
quarterback Nate Hayden, who leads the offense
with his precise throws, deserves special
mention. The defense has also improved and
was able to make important blocks at crucial
moments. Both teams, the ifm Razorbacks
and the Baltic Hurricanes, last met on June
24, 2023. The Kiel Baltic Hurricanes won 27:21
at home last year in front of 1558 spectators.

Gaby: Ludvig, how did you get into American
Football and why did you choose the
position of O-Lineman?
Ludvig: I never chose the O-Line. When I
started playing football, one of my receiver
friends back home told me that they needed
a big man for the team. So he brought
me to practice. I was put on the O-Line because
I was the big guy. So I did not change
the position since that practice.
Gaby: Laurits, tell us about your path to
American football and why you chose the
position of center.
Laurits: I started playing because all my
friends started playing then I can hang
around them. And I played center because
I like to be in the middle and I can communicate
with everybody and I‘m the only one
who knows how to snap.
Gaby: Ludvig, What are the biggest challenges
as an O-lineman and how do you deal
with them?
Ludvig: II would say that we don‘t get
enough love and also if you look at
it from a sports perspective: As an
o-lineman that you are a group. If you
don’t do your job - the whole group
cannot work.

Gaby: Laurits, How important is the communication
between you and the quarterback?
Laurits: It is very important. It‘s kind of the
gateway from the O-line to the skill guys.
That is the link between everybody. So I
make sure the O-line knows what they need
to do. Communicating to Broghean and him
to his receivers. That is the link between the
two groups.
Gaby: How do you prepare for a game? Are
there certain rituals or habits you have?
Ludvig: Sleep well, drink lots of water. Before
the game I always make pasta bolognese.
I have been doing it for years and it is the
only thing I eat before the game. It helps
me and it‘s my ritual. Before warming up I
tape my gloves. After thatI‘m in my football
mode. My lock-in mode.
Laurits: Lots of sleep and lots of water. On
game day, I walk around the whole field to
get to know the whole field. Before the coin
toss, I go to the corner and pray.

Gaby: What was the highlight of your career
with the Ravensburg Razorbacks so
far?
I would say beating the Comets because
we’ve never beat them before and we won
by more points than the first game they
won against us.
Laurits: I think the last game against Hildesheim.
Yes, we lost that game, but it
shows that we are a great team this year.
And after that game we played with more
confidence.
Gaby: How would you describe the dynamics
and cooperationwithin the o-line?
Ludvig: We are a very close group. We do
everything together, we communicate a lot.
We never leave each other. We have a good
and fun dynamic.
Laurits: We are a very young group this year.
The average age is 25 I think. Louis with his
30 bring it up a pretty young group. Invested
in playing for the team and invested in
winning games.
Gaby: You two are our „twins“ and you get
along well? How come?
Ludvig: Since day 1 we got on really well. I
don‘t really know why, but we are similar in
our personalities. When we are on the field
- sometimes my mom can‘t tell who is who.
Laurits: I‘m pretty sure I shared my Pringles
with you.
Ludvig: Oh yeah...you shared the Pringles
with me last season, we had a camp and he
had some paprika Pringles.
Gaby: You were with us last year? What
was the reason for you to stay?
Ludvig: I stayed because I got love from the
team and the people around the team. And
I felt very welcome here. We became a family
last year - went through a lot of shit
last year and we are still together. And I
knew that Jake was going to be a coach and
I wanted to have him as a coach and I also
believed in the program to build something.
Laurits: Same thing. That Jake came back
was a big point for me and also that I want
to win with this team. And improve the
team and we are able to win!

How different do you find the atmosphere
in the stadium?
Ludvig: Oh this is like night and day. So different
and it feels like a home where you
can feel comfortable. A place where family
and friends are watching us. Last year it
was the same - but it was not the same stadium
feeling and we are closer to the fans
and they’re behind us. And we have our own
dressing room.
Laurits: It gets very loud there. I remember
the 4th down against the Straubing Spiders
last game where it was so loud that they
called a timeout. The whole place
exploded.

Back then I was a huge football fan from a young age
and when my mom said there was a football team in
Ravensburg, I went to tryouts shortly afterwards.
