Business Partner Highlight

“HUB International is proud to be associated with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston. As an

insurance broker providing protection to individuals and businesses throughout South Carolina, we recognize

the importance of “being there” in our customer’s greatest times of need. No one understands this approach

more than the team at RMHC Charleston in the way they support the loving families of children going through

remarkably difficult times. We support the mission and compassion of this great organization!”

Our mission is to provide essential services that remove barriers,

strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare.

We believe in a world where every family has what they need to ensure

the best health outcomes for their children.

we make things better

FromThe CEO

On behalf of the families of

critically ill children we serve, I

extend my heartfelt gratitude for

your kind donations in 2023. Your

generosity enabled us to care for

54,553 individuals across all our

programs—a truly remarkable

achievement. These milestones are

a testament to the dedication and

compassion of everyone involved.

However, it is with a heavy heart

that I must acknowledge a pressing

challenge we face. Each year, we are

forced to turn away over 500 family

requests for our House program.

These families seek a safe and clean

environment while their children

undergo essential pediatric medical

treatments. Every child deserves

access to quality healthcare, and we

must expand our capacity to serve

more families in need.

We have a plan to expand our

current facility, but we cannot do

it without your help. As steadfast

supporters of our mission, we ask

you to share our story within your

community and engage with us in

our planning efforts.

You understand the vital role our

House program plays in this

community. Your generosity has

a lasting impact on the lives of

countless seriously ill children

and their families. Together, we can

continue to make a difference.

Kathy ‘kp’ Papadimitriou

Chief Executive Officer

“We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for

opening the doors of RMHC Charleston for us and letting us stay.

You have been incredible, everyone has a compassionate heart

and will give the best to anyone who might need it. God bless

you all and we will keep you in our hearts forever.”

–The Toro Family

“You don’t know me, and I’ll never know you, but I am eternally

grateful to you. Because of your kindness and generosity, I

was able to be with my granddaughter, Harper May everyday!

Everyday! She was never alone! If you can, collect pop tabs,

if you’re able order supplies for the House, if possible give a

donation. The families are forced into this world full of fear,

worry, anxiety, and sometimes death but your donation big or

small makes all that a little less by giving us a place to rest and

call home for a while.”

–Beverly Flickinger

“Our journey started when our daughter turned 3 weeks old. That

day, we were transported to two different hospitals due to the

assumption our daughter was experiencing Supraventricular

Tachycardia (SVT). After running out of options at our local

hospital, she was then transported to MUSC where we knew

she would receive better care.

By the grace of God, we were able

to get the last available room at RMHC

Charleston that night. We were told to expect

a long stay due to our daughter’s heart and lungs failing

and it would be a long recovery. At the time, we only had a

few changes of clothing and some personal items with us

but RMHC Charleston helped provide the rest. We didn’t

have to worry about food, toiletries, where to shower,

where to wash clothing, etc. and that is a bigger relief

than many know.

As parents, we were able to focus solely on our daughter for the 6 weeks we were

there, and that was the biggest blessing. We can never repay our gratitude for RMHC

Charleston as it far exceeded our expectations, but we are committed to giving back

in a way we saw possible.

While our daughter is now almost 5 years old, as parents we are beyond excited to share

with her how blessed we were at RMHC Charleston and how we are giving back because

of it. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Ronald McDonald House Charities of

Charleston!”

–The Werkema Family

and that was the

biggest blessing.”
