DEAR DEAN MAGAZINE
Welcome, August 2024
Vice President and Presidential candidate Kamala
Harris has taken the nation by a massive blue
wave. And if the excitement and enthusiasm weren’t
already high, adding respected and beloved
Governor Tim Walz as her running mate has taken
the campaign to levels unseen since at least the
first Obama campaign.
Democrats are in array and republicans are
floundering by choice since they decided to stick
with felon Trump.
In this issue we get to know everyone’s favorite vicepresidential
candidate, Governor Tim Walz, and we
look at his career and accomplishments. We peak
into why VP Kamala Harris chose him among the
great options she had and look at the some of the
many accomplishments of VP Harris over the past
few years.
We also take a quick look at the Democratic
National Convention which featured President
Biden rousing speech and endorsement of VP
Harris, former president Obama’s timely words,
and the joy the convention shared with the nation.
Please don’t miss the highlights of VP Harris’
economic plans she shared during her speech on
August 16th.
We briefly write about Trump’s latest disgusting
words and actions, before we look back on some of
the best from the Paris 2024 Olympics.
KAMALA HARRIS DELIVERED FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE
THANK YOU, PRESIDENT
JOE BIDEN
by Myron J. Clifton
President Biden is the president America has
always needed. I’m sad to see his term winding
down. Thankfully when the nation needed him
most, he answered the call and straightened out
the crooked path we were on.
Thank goodness for Joe Biden.
deep conversations with South Carolina Rep Jim
Joe Biden served decades in the Senate before
Clyburn, he won the state and never looked back.
President Obama ignored the smart people and
But Joe Biden wasn’t done.
picked him as his running mate. VP Biden was
the insider President Obama needed to work
Like President Obama, he defied the pundit class
with a recalcitrant House and Senate and
and big donors and chose California Senator
political insiders. Together the duo got the
Kamala Harris as his running mate.
Affordable Care Act passed, saved the housing
and banking industries, sent Osama Bin Laden’s
The day he announced her – she had dropped out
body to the ocean, and helped the economy
of the presidential race and had called him out
recover from the disastrous Bush years. He.
during a debate – the media was shocked but not
Nudged President Obama to the acknowledge
voters. Senator Harris had a strong and active
gays in the military, and helped him run a
online following online and her announcement
steady, mostly uneventful 8 years administration
galvanized the group who then helped Biden raise
of stability and honor.
more money in the following twenty-four hours
than he had all campaign.
He didn’t run for president in 2016 but fully
supported Hillary Clinton’s bid. But in 2020, he
Biden thus became a historic bridge from the past
again answered the nation’s call and, despite
to being VP to the first Black male president, to
friends, family, his former boss, Obama, and
having the first Black/Asian woman vice president.
pundits, put his hat in the ring and ran for
president against felon Trump. He was shaky at
And now, when the donor class got their revenge
first and the pundit class loathed him but after
and helped force him to withdraw from the
presidential race, President Biden surprised
everyone again by immediately putting his full
support behind VP Harris, despite party leaders,
media, and big donors hoping for a messy open
convention.
VP Harris and Gov Tim Walz are now leading in
most polls.
We have President Biden to thank for that and
for what many are predicting to be a landslide
election.
Joe Biden wasn’t in the senate for fifty years
learning nothing. He outmaneuvered Rep Pelosi,
and used his savvy and smarts to put VP Harris in
front of the nation and watched as she used her
smarts and savvy to shore of the nomination in a
just a few days.
President Biden’s last few months in office will
be both productive and sad as the nation says
goodbye to one of the greatest politicians of any
era.
Respect and gratitude, kind sir.
And as had happened before, once she had
announced, her dedicated followers and new
followers who saw how effective she was as
Biden’s VP, rallied the nation and helped raise over
a half-billion dollars in just a few weeks.
TIM WALZ & THE
COMEBACK OF
GOOD WHITE MEN
by Myron J. Clifton
Gov/VP candidate Tim Walz is in a way white men’s
Obama opportunity. Obama took back an image
that was damaged by racism, but for Walz it’s the
damage to everyday white men done by magaland.
So many white people, especially men,
identifying him w/their dads is significant. You see
it across social media: “He reminds me of my dad.
He’s like my favorite uncle. My grandpa” These are
the white men white democrats have loudly told
the rest of us: “Not all” And they were right, and
shouted down because maga hogs the airwaves
and threatened us.
Tim is a reminder of something we all have
experienced-including non-white people simply
because of demographics: a friend who’s white, coworker,
neighbor, relative, teacher. I know so many
and occasionally have written about “Good white
men” needing to be louder than magas.
We’re seeing a joining of the most powerful
demographic -white men- with the least powerful-
Black women. The blowback from billionaires and
those who hate is not to be ignored because this
union meets and, in my opinion, exceeds America’s
promise.
We’re so patriarchal we exclusively focus on white
men versus Black men. The real battle has actually
always been White men versus Black women.
Our DNA is proof of so much, not the least of which
is our 20-40% European ancestry which tells the
stories American education refuses to fully tell.
Reconciliation between White men and Black
women doesn’t erase history, but it restarts it from
a place of equality
Well, here he is. And look at the reception by white
people, especially white men. When you’re seeing
Utah, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and famous people
joining the Kamala/Walz locomotive. We’re seeing
history behavioral shifts that can/will change all
facets of America.
This is our chance to right wrongs, course correct,
work together, build to, and restart from a place of
truth and trust.
Harris/Walz gives America the fresh start that it
desperately needs.
DEAR DEAN MAGAZINE
Myron J. Clifton
Governor Tim Walz was selected as VP Harris’ running
mate, and she could not have made a better pick.
There were many democrats who were under
consideration for VP – Pete Buttigieg, Gretchen
Whitmer, Josh Shapiro, and a couple others.
The democratic bench is strong, and VP Harris had a
tough job deciding on who would best partner with her
to win the election.
Kamala took her time, as most experienced hiring
managers will do, and carefully vetted each candidate.
She interviewed her top candidates and ultimately
decided that Gov Walz was the best choice.
She said he was loyal to President Biden – as she has
been for four years and through the brutal campaign
that forced him to withdraw from the race, VP Harris
was said to be impressed by how Gov Walz stood up
for the president.
In Gov Walz, Kamala gets a well-regarded Governor
who is respected by all other governors, including
republicans. He is a Nebraska born and raised
Midwest stalwart, who hunts, fishes, and icefishes. He
was a farmer, enlisted and served 24 years in the
military, was a social science teacher and football
coach, and he and his wife used IVF to conceive and
birth their daughter Hope.
He is an “Everyman” who exudes kindness, honesty,
and authenticity. He is as much the opposite of J.D.
Vance as Kamala is to Trump.
With VP Kamala’s polls surging before announcing
Walz, she really went for a electoral college blowout by
adding a man who has put Florida, Texas, and Ohio in
play for democrats, adding to his expected shoring up
of Wisconsin, Michigan, Arizona for democrats.
That Gov Tim Walz is being likened to a favorite
uncle, teacher, neighbor, and co-woker is a
great sign for democrats and Americans who
are tired of nasty, mean, and constantly
negative republican men who hate everything
and everyone not like themselves.
Democrats are running a joyful and fun
campaign that focuses on moving forward, not
going back, and by improving life for everyone,
not just the elite.
Harris/Walz are presenting a fresh perspective
to voters, and they are doing so by focusing on
positive behaviors and not hate.
America was and is ready for just such a
presidential team.
Here are some facts about Governor Tim Walz.
NOW
Sometimes, when you’re at a crossroads, a door will open and what enters will inspire you.
Other times, what enters will make you gag. These stories by a ride-share short-timer might
have the same effect on you. A man, recently laid off from his job and intrigued by the people
he might meet (and the money he might make) decides to drive ride-share while looking for a
new professional management position.
Don’t want to drive drunk? Well, then, by all means, plug in your location and get your friendly
neighborhood ride-share driver to ferry you to your next bar. Need to move but can’t afford
movers? There’s an App for that! Tired of waiting for tricks on the corner? Wait—I’ve got an idea.
. .
The behavior and stories of folks who call on ride-share turned into a unique anthropological
study for one man who decided to drive ride-share while looking for a new professional
management position. Recently laid off from his job and intrigued by the people he might meet
(and the money he might make), the author unwittingly became the anonymous confidant for
men, women, nonbinary people, and children. Unfortunately for him, he also became the
innocent target of people who couldn’t hold their liquor, others who couldn’t hold their temper,
and at least one who couldn’t keep his hands to himself.
Little did they know they were in the Prius of a writer, who would be able to look in the rear view
and tell their stories.
This collection of anecdotes is non-judgmental, full of irony and dry humor, and may help
someone else decide: Is driving ride-share for you?
DONALD TRUMP’S
LATEST UGLY RACISM
by Myron J. Clifton
Trump said vice president Kamala Harris
“turned Black” and now his racist media
followers are doing the same thing There are
dozens of terms that are on the Census and
society that are out of favor now but were
popular for decades. Most can’t be said on this
app They’ll argue their right to say them
They will yell over us and then once given
pushback they’ll resort to their favorite slurs.
This is all based on white supremacy- the part
that says white people get to define how
everyone is defined. Get to force their names
on us and tell us we’re inferior because of it.
Every generation of Black people have to refight
the battles of our ancestors because
white Americans refuse to learn, grow, change,
& accept that they aren’t special, unique, or
superior. So many want those things they
reach into the (im)perfect past for their
inherited racism
We haven’t been able to educate ourselves out
of this because one side refuses to be educated
& refused to accept self-actualization The
problems they have w/pronouns -people
defining themselves- was born of them
refusing to accept Black people defining
ourselves.
It’s always us
Now we’ll have “educated” folk in media-almost all
white, who live exclusively around white people,
and who may know 1 or 2 Black people in real likediscussing
a topic about which they’re among the
most ignorant on the planet.
It’s a harsh truth they are not equipped to talk
about race because their views are like listening to
children discussing algebra but try to tell Jake
Tapper, Anderson Cooper, Katy Tur, or Maggie
Haberman, or that one or that one they’ll huff and
puff right back to their 99% white circle of
friends/family confident that they are the most
qualified to talk about race and racism.
PROMISE TO CUT SOCIAL
SECURITY.
DON’T VOTE THEM IN
by Myron J. Clifton
Trump and Project 2025 want to
cut Social Security. VP Harris and
Gov Tim Walz will protect Social
Security. Here are facts about
Social Security means to America:
Fact #1: Social Security is more than just a
retirement program. It also provides
important life insurance and disability
insurance protection.
Fact #2: Social Security provides a
guaranteed, progressive benefit that keeps up
with increases in the cost of living.
Fact #3: Social Security provides a foundation
of retirement protection for nearly
all people in the U.S.
Fact #4: Social Security benefits are modest.
Fact #6: Social Security lifts millions of older
adults above the poverty line.
Fact #7: Social Security is the biggest source of
retirement income for most
retirees.
Fact #8: Social Security is particularly
important for people of color.
Fact #9: Social Security is especially beneficial
for women.
Fact #10: Relatively modest changes would
place Social Security on sound
financial footing.
Fact #5: Children have an important stake in
Social Security.
HOT TAKE
#1
Democrats are in ARRAY after VP Kamala
Harris electrified the base after receiving the
support of President Biden following his
#3
VP Harris selecting Minnesota Governor
Tim Walz as her running mate surprised
pundits and woks alike. Her instincts
proved correct as Walz quickly helped
take the campaign enthusiasm to
stratospheric heights, and amazing
fundraising, volunteers, and humongous
battleground states Wisconsin, Michigan,
#2
Proof the base is fired up for VP Kamala
Harris’ is the $350 million democratic donors
gave to the campaign in the week after her
PROJECT 2025 (Alternately called Project Trump 47)
You’ve probably heard about Trump’s Project 25 (or 47) that he and the Heritage Foundation put together. It is
a blueprint for changing America in horrible ways, including restricting voting, changing the courts, giving
Trump unlimited power, defunding ALL public schools, closing numerous government agencies including
Department of Education, ending Obamacare and Social Security, and more and worse. Here is a link to a
guide to help understand Project 2025 and why voters can never allow Donald Trump back in the white house.
Looking back on the Before and the events leading up to the After, it was impossible to say precisely
when everything went to shit. Understanding the importance of human connection, a lone trader braves
the Weeps and an emerging cult to unite the survivors of a shattered world. The Before and The After is a
tale of loss, acceptance, and finding one’s truth in a barren future.
DEAR DEAN MAGAZINE
F e a t u r e d M o b i l e A p p
Finally! An app made for content creators, music artists,
music producers, musicians and music fans that
encourages communication and collaboration! Access
the sayeYO music storage app on your laptop, pc or
mobile device with a free download!
You can experience peace of mind knowing your song
files are safe and can easily be played, shared and even
promoted with just a few taps. Download the app now…
sayeYO’s in-app messaging and communication
features, built-in compression tool, analytics and
discovery page unite the music world in a way that
supports a music artist’s craft like no other — and
bridges the gap between music sharing on different
mobile devices, and challenges users face now in file
size, sharing, access and exposure peer to peer and with
fans.
All sayeYO users enjoy up to 2 free GB of storage for
music, photos, videos and links - and all files that can be
shared seamlessly using sayeYO's in-app messaging
features regardless of what kind of phone they have.
No phone plan? No problem! sayeYO works on WIFI only
anywhere in the world — no phone number required!
Life is hard enough - storing, sharing and playing your
music should be easy! We believe that the world is a
better place when people who make and share music
don’t have to worry about the challenges of technology
and can instead focus on their craft and new
connections.
Meet the Founder, Kevin Linney
My name is Kevin Linney, I also go by the name Crucial
Point. I have tons of friends that make music and we all
have the same issues regarding storage and sharing
our music. As an underground/independent Hip Hop
artist, I wanted to create a platform where we could
store and easily share our music with people around
the world.
Dear Dean Magazine | Aug. 22, 2024 | Page 45
Even as an amateur artist, I had close to 200 song files
sitting on Google Drive and DropBox, none of which
were being promoted or heard by anybody other than
myself. I needed a place where I could simply store my
song files and easily share them when I want and with
who I want.
I created the sayeYO app with music artists in mind. I
added features like the discover page, where artists can
share songs made public with other app users. In the
discover page users can play songs, like songs and click
on any shared links. Our in-app text messaging allows
users to share full-length songs, media files and much
more for improved communication and collaboration.
I also added a business directory so that sayeYO app
users can connect with people who offer services within
the music industry. Some of the categories include DJ’s,
record labels, mixing and mastering, music blogs/news,
podcast, marketing and promotions, management and
consulting, dancers and choreographers, plus much
much more.
The sayeYO app is truly one of a kind. It is not your
typical cloud storage app. I know there are millions of
song files sitting on various storage drives around the
world that have not been listened to in months or years.
I know from personal experience with my music that it
is easy for artists to create songs and not ever put them
out or promote them.
I want music artists to think differently about music and
audio storage. Songs don’t have to be stored and
forgotten about. Music artists can upload all their songs
to the sayeYO app and have a place to privately store
their music or share their music publicly with a global
audience.
Don't let your music files get lost in storage. Join
sayeYO and invite your music friends!
Coming
Soon!
Dr. Josie Harjo is used to cutting up dead bodies. As a veterinary pathologist at a state diagnostic lab, it’s her
job to figure out the cause of death in a never-ending parade of various non-human species. Most cases are
cut-and-dried, and rarely will a carcass roll in that gets her racking her brain.
When a rancher shows up with a dead horse, Josie thinks it’s going to be a typical day at the office. She
quickly learns that this is the third suspicious death in as many days, and the clock is ticking to figure out
what’s going on before any more lives are lost.
The necropsy is frustratingly unremarkable, and Josie is forced to follow all leads no matter how
implausible. Tensions rise as the rancher starts pointing a finger at a disgruntled employee and an assault
charge forces the cops to start asking questions. With a hefty insurance payout on the table, Josie realizes
that she can’t ignore the possibility that the rancher might be involved. As the pathologist leading the case,
Josie has to wonder, is it just coincidence or is there something more nefarious killing horses at JW Ranch?
