Our tour includes New Zealand’s castle - Larnach.
Explore its beautiful gardens and the historic interior

acclaimed English architect Sir Ernest George, Olveston,

Experience the spectacular, remote wilderness of
Doubtful Sound on our guided day trip. Journey across
Lake Manapouri, over the breathtaking Wilmot Pass and
into the heart of Fiordland National Park. This is a mustdo
for nature lovers and explorers alike. Includes a 3
hour cruise through Doubtful Sound, including lunch.
FRI 29 NOV – TE ANAU/MILFORD SOUND B,D
A morning Te Anau Glowworm Caves excursion. This
underground world is astonishingly beautiful. By
geological standards, the caves are very young (12,000
years). A twisting network of limestone passages filled
with sculpted rock, whirlpools and a roaring
underground waterfall. Afterwards travel via the Scenic
Alpine route to Milford Sound. Spend the night aboard
the iconic Milford Mariner and wake up to dawn in one
of the most beautiful places on earth. The cruise style is
relaxed, allowing plenty of time to view the fiord’s
spectacular waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and
wildlife.
SAT 30 NOV – MILFORD SOUND/QUEENSTOWN B,D
Disembark the cruise, travel to Queenstown via Te Anau
and along the shores of lake Wakatipu. Afternoon at

SUN 01 DEC – QUEENSTOWN SIGHTSEEING B,D
A half day sightseeing tour includes Coronet Peak and
Arrowtown. Visit Gibbston Valley for wine tasting where
they have been handcrafting premium wines for more
than three decades. Afternoon is at leisure followed by a
dining experience like no other. Cruise across Lake
Whakatipu and discover Queenstown’s incomparable
fine dining destination - Walter Peak High Country Farm.
Once at the lakeside Colonel’s Homestead Restaurant
savour the delicious aromas as our chef has the best of
local produce sizzling away on the grill.

Enjoy a leisurely morning with a trip up the Gondola

Depart Auckland on NZ 121 at 8.50am. Arrive Melbourne
10.45am. Transfer from the airport to your hotel and the
afternoon is free. Early evening we head to Melbourne’s
most famous beach, St Kilda Beach for a Welcome dinner
at Captain Baxter (or similar). Stay Novotel on Collins or

THU 05 DEC - MELBOURNE B,L,D
Shopping tour: Spend the day bargain hunting on a
shopping tour taking in outlets, discount shops and sales
as well as some of Melbourne’s most popular shopping
areas. The tour will cover clothing, shoes, sportswear,
bags, confectionery and more. We aim to cater for all
ages and budgets with a mixture of popular brands and
brands you may not have seen before. Some of
Melbourne’s best loved shopping streets may be included
in the tour, from Bridge Road in Richmond to Smith Street
in Collingwood. Dinner at the hotel.
FRI 06 DEC - MELBOURNE B,L
Depart Melbourne for a day trip out to the Yarra Valley .
With a wine growing history of over 180 years, the Yarra
Valley is Victoria's oldest wine growing region. We visit
some wineries with a fabulous included lunch. Freedom
dining tonight.
SAT 07 DEC - MELBOURNE B,D
A guided walking tour of Melbourne’s laneways - mostly
from the Victorian era, and a very popular cultural
attraction. A free afternoon for more shopping,
sightseeing or relaxing. Enjoy a Farewell dinner tonight.

Depart Melbourne at 12.05pm on flight NZ124 and arrive in

famous Hamilton Gardens. Arrive New Plymouth late

Leisurely start this morning then head to Pukeiti Forest
and Rhododendron Gardens - a garden of international
significance in Taranaki. Lunch today is at the Rainforest
Café. The afternoon is at leisure, maybe take in the Len
Lye Museum, relax around the hotel or some shopping in
town. Dinner at the hotel and then head to Pukekura Park
to see the majestic Festival of Lights, that transforms the
Park into a wonderland.
WED 01 JAN - NEW PLYMOUTH

We begin our day by travelling south to Stratford. Admire
the glockenspiel playing a scene from Shakespeare’s
Romeo and Juliet then we travel to Hawera to visit the
Tawhiti Museum - widely regarded as the best private
museum in NZ. We then travel back to New Plymouth via
Surf Highway 45. Dinner tonight at the hotel.
THU 02 JAN - NEW PLYMOUTH/TAUPO

Today we depart New Plymouth for morning tea at
Cairnhill gardens. We head toward Whangamomona and
then carry along the Forgotten Highway and arrive into
Taupo in the afternoon. Dinner at the hotel this evening.

FRI 03 JAN - TAUPO

Free morning in Taupo and this afternoon we head out on
for a cruise around picturesque Great Lake Taupo and its
northern bays with the mountains of the World Heritage
Tongariro National Park as a backdrop. Enjoy close-up
views of the Maori Rock Carvings from the large outdoor
decks as you learn about Lake Taupo’s cultural and
volcanic history.

Time to get started back to Auckland with a visit to the
Huka Falls with nearly a quarter of a million litres of water
per second erupting from a natural gorge and thundering
11m into the Waikato River below. Continue north through
the Waikato farmlands for lunch with Penny Diprose at
Rosenvale‘s Tranquil and lush gardens. Arrive back in
Auckland in the late afternoon.

Today enjoy an Art Deco Tour with a local guide and

After breakfast we head to the Farmer’s Market in
Hastings to pick up items for the Great Gatsby picnic in
the afternoon, for those who want to partake. Maybe
take in the Trolley Derby or other Art Deco events.

We depart to Auckland via the Lava Glass Blowing Studio
& Sculpture Garden where we enjoy a tour and an

Head to Te Kaha via Whakatane, the heart of the Eastern

Experience an untapped part of New Zealand, the isolated
East Cape of New Zealand. En route we visit Hicks Bay, and

We head to Waiouru via the scenic Gentle Annie highway.

town of Coffs Harbour. As the sun dips beneath the

dependent. Where you'll feast on local produce and fresh
seafood matched with fine wines, while the waves lap at
the shore nearby. After a few leisurely hours, you'll reboard
the train and set off for the night.

A hearty breakfast on board before stepping off the Great
Southern for a full day of Off Train Experiences. Choose
your own adventure - the Hunter Valley, Port Stephens, or
Newcastle. Meander through the picturesque and historic
vineyards of the Hunter Valley, or take in the stunning
views of Port Stephens with the option of a land or sea
tour. Alternatively, discover the vibrant mix of old and new
in the beautiful coastal city of Newcastle on the
Newcastle Explorer. In the evening, return to the train to
enjoy a regionally inspired meal prepared on board
before retiring for the night.
