A morning Te Anau Glowworm Caves excursion. This<br />

underground world is astonishingly beautiful. By<br />

geological standards, the caves are very young (12,000<br />

years). A twisting network of limestone passages filled<br />

with sculpted rock, whirlpools and a roaring<br />

underground waterfall. Afterwards travel via the Scenic<br />

Alpine route to Milford Sound. Spend the night aboard<br />

the iconic Milford Mariner and wake up to dawn in one<br />

of the most beautiful places on earth. The cruise style is<br />

relaxed, allowing plenty of time to view the fiord’s<br />

spectacular waterfalls, rainforest, mountains and<br />

Shopping tour: Spend the day bargain hunting on a<br />

shopping tour taking in outlets, discount shops and sales<br />

as well as some of Melbourne’s most popular shopping<br />

areas. The tour will cover clothing, shoes, sportswear,<br />

bags, confectionery and more. We aim to cater for all<br />

ages and budgets with a mixture of popular brands and<br />

brands you may not have seen before. Some of<br />

Melbourne’s best loved shopping streets may be included<br />

in the tour, from Bridge Road in Richmond to Smith Street<br />

Depart Melbourne for a day trip out to the Yarra Valley .<br />

We begin our day by travelling south to Stratford. Admire<br />

the glockenspiel playing a scene from Shakespeare’s<br />

Romeo and Juliet then we travel to Hawera to visit the<br />

Tawhiti Museum - widely regarded as the best private<br />

museum in NZ. We then travel back to New Plymouth via<br />

Surf Highway 45. Dinner tonight at the hotel.<br />

THU 02 JAN - NEW PLYMOUTH/TAUPO<br />

Today we depart New Plymouth for morning tea at<br />

Cairnhill gardens. We head toward Whangamomona and<br />

then carry along the Forgotten Highway and arrive into<br />

Taupo in the afternoon. Dinner at the hotel this evening.<br />

Free morning in Taupo and this afternoon we head out on<br />

for a cruise around picturesque Great Lake Taupo and its<br />

northern bays with the mountains of the World Heritage<br />

Tongariro National Park as a backdrop. Enjoy close-up<br />

views of the Maori Rock Carvings from the large outdoor<br />

decks as you learn about Lake Taupo’s cultural and<br />

volcanic history.<br />

Time to get started back to Auckland with a visit to the<br />

Huka Falls with nearly a quarter of a million litres of water<br />

the Waikato farmlands for lunch with Penny Diprose at<br />

Rosenvale‘s Tranquil and lush gardens. Arrive back in<br />

We depart to Auckland via the Lava Glass Blowing Studio<br />

views of Port Stephens with the option of a land or sea<br />
